Echofon Pro for Twitter Reviews

I’ve been using EchofonPro for years and have loved it. However, a bug was introduced a month ago that is irritating as hell. Once I click on a link in a tweet and then go back to EchofonPro , I’m brought back to the beginning of my timeline. If I’ve been scrolling through 100+ tweets I have to find my way back to where I left off.
I’ve been waiting for a release to fix it, but am now reverting to the official Twitter app until I see an update. It’s a shame.

I’ve used EchofonPro for years. It’s always been fine until a couple of months ago. Now, I open EchofonPro and go to the bottom of my unread tweets. From there I scroll through some tweets, eventually stopping on one I open to read. When I’m done reading it, I close it and go back to my timeline, but instead of returning to the exact same point on my timeline like it used to, now EchofonPro returns to the bottom of the unread messages where I first started - even though I’ve already scrolled through some already. I tried to report this through the developer’s website, but that website isn’t available any more. ☹️

I’ve been using EchofonPro ever at least 5+ years now. It’s fine. It’s never good. They are always slow to roll out updates. Some features that should have been around years ago still aren’t. You still can barely play videos because they’re always super blurry. You can’t see any polls. A lot of times they don’t load the comments below tweets. It’s hard to load threads/replies. Push notifications and trends are spotty. Customer service is bad. They rolled out a program to test EchofonPro before updates, but they don’t listen to feedback.

EDIT: Most recent version sees the best features such as streaming do not work correctly.

...except for some chronic problems that never seem to get fixed. (1) Support for the external keyboard on my iPad Pro is hit-and-miss...it usually doesn’t work at all so I need to remove the keyboard and type on the screen, or use Twitter’s own client. (2) I have reported problem (1) for years, and never gotten any response. Very unhappy with the lack of response. (3) No support for Twitter polls; they just don’t show up. (4) Tweet thread support is poor; if I want to read a tweet thread, I generally have to switch to the Twitter client. I really want to like Echofon, and wish these could be fixed!

I've used EchofonPro since it was called Twitterfon, and generally have preferred it to Twitter's native interface. Lately — perhaps since the last update— if I open a link to a web page that has embedded video (ads or otherwise), as soon as the page loads, ALL of the videos start playing! It becomes a marathon of tapping the X in the upper left corner to close them all. And on some sites, it's DOZENS. Makes some web pages unreadable.

I wanted to contact support rather than leave a crabby review, but they apparently stopped using Zendesk and haven't updated their support link! What's happening, guys?!

EchofonPro works amazingly well, but one strange problem I've noticed is that if I copy the link to a tweet that was retweeted onto my timeline and send the link to someone, they'll get it as if the retweeter tweeted the tweet, and this causes an error. Also, it would be nice if RTs showed up in lists.

Thank you for responding to the problem that I and many others have registered about the reply issue with the updated app. Perhaps you can explain why Twitter’s “strict display requirements” were not an issue before, and why TWEETLOGIX (which I am currently using) has a Reply/Reply All option. Without this option (which you had in the previous version) replies have to be sent to everyone in the email chain. Until this is problem is fixed, you will lose customers to TWEETLOGIX and other apps.

My Complaint
As of 4/29 the developers changed they app so what was previously a good app is now unusable.

I have an Logic external keyboard case connected to my iPad via Bluetooth. For some reason, I’ll be typing tweets fine, then will go to type another tweet and the keyboard will no longer work. I bought the Pro version thinking this would stop happening but it hasn’t. I have to close out of EchofonPro and reopen to regain keyboard function but then I’ve lost my place in my feed. Very frustrating! I don’t have this problem with any of my other apps. What gives? I’m ready to ditch Echofon which I’ve used for years on my iPhone because the loss of keyboard function renders Twitter unusable on my iPad.

I’m not sure what happened in the last update, but is there a reason we can no longer search for Users? I can search my timeline only. There used to be a Search icon in the lower right corner of my iPhone 6S. Now it just has a link to my profile. And no apparent way to find new users.

Otherwise, I’ve been generally satisfied with Echofon.

There are some things that are missing here that would make it phenomenal. While it is nice to have an actual chronological feed, I still have to revert back to the native Twitter app in order to read through threads. I also revert to native to see the likes for my posts since Echofon only shows mentions.

Also, if I want to read the translation of a tweet, I again have to revert back to the native Twitter app. Add to that, reporting Tweets that needs to be done in the native Twitter app.

Why Echofon is amazing:

I use Echofon for both my lists and for the chronological feed. I also upgraded to Pro and don’t have to see ads, which is awesome! These three things have kept me as a user for many years now, but I’d love to see some expanded functionality if Twitter will allow it of app developers.

Love EchofonPro , have used it for nearly a decade now. Just pointing out that today it is requiring Authorization, which is fine, but this time it won’t connect to twitter servers to let me sign in.

I’m sure you guys are aware, just letting you know. Downloaded the free version and the process is working fine, so just need the same update on the Pro.

I’ve used EchofonPro for hrs as I do prefer its interface to the default twitter app.
But one annoying thing: I don’t see the tweets of all the ppl I follow.
I go to someone’s timeline manually, I’ll see tweets they sent out just a few min ago, but won’t be on my timeline. If I switch to the twitter app, I’ll see all the tweets there. Has anyone else noticed/reported this? It’s been going on for a while and kinda thought it’d be fixed by now

If this were fixed, my rating would be 5 stars. I like the simplicity to see just what I want in my feed, and nothing extra. However, the bug is ruining EchofonPro , and I hope there is a fix soon. I don’t check my feed regularly, so to be reading a long list of new tweets, tap a tweet to read further, then switch back to my feed and find EchofonPro takes me all the way back to the start of the day’s feed again, is frustrating enough to make me want to delete and look for a new app.

A number of changes in the last update has lowered the quality of EchofonPro. Opening web pages is plagued by a video player launching over the web page view. Closing the video player often launches another player if there are multiple video sources on the web page.

In addition, when closing an opened tweet, you don’t always return to your timeline at the same place. This is very annoying.

I've been using EchofonPro for years, and while it's true that there are a few things I'd change, for the most part, it's the best way to read and quickly respond to tweets. To post gifs or see polls, I do go to Twitter's native app, but for pretty much everything else, I find Echofon the best!

Why in the last couple days has the treading feature stopped working? Have never had a problem with it before. But, since the last update, it is like trending feature has froze and will not update.

Using it for years with no issues. Tried others but always come back to this. If anything would be nice to have a choice of custom icon and advanced theme like color options as well as font options.

I’ve been a fan of EchofonPro since I got an iPhone back in 2011. I’ve used EchofonPro only for Twitter exclusively. But for the past 2 months I’ve had to use the official twitter app because this one crashes every time I open it on my iPhone X. I thought, “let me make sure everything is updated” it is & it’s still not working. I even purchased the pro version so I really expected not to have any problems on this level. It won’t open at all which is extremely frustrating. 👎🏾

Using on the iPad (with the large preview window), you have to hit an expansion arrow to view GIFs and video, then when they expand, they’re either absurdly large (if video from a phone) or the wrong aspect ratio for the screen. It NEVER used to be this way and I’ve been an Echofon pro user for years. Fix or I may need to search for a new platform for Twitter. This has been my go to for years and I had already tried other platforms, but it may be time to adapt and say goodbye.

I’ve always been a fan of Echofon for as long as I can remember... one of the first apps to support multiple logins, and never switched. However, it’s time to start “shopping around”, as most videos still don’t play. Go to Twitter’s website, no issue with the exact same tweet. In Echofon, it’s just a thumbnail; doesn’t even recognize it as video content. Frustrating!
