After my previous favorite Tap Sudoku stopped getting updates, I tried a half dozen apps before finally finding this one, where I could enter the number first then the cell. This speeds up your ability to play and is really a must, but most apps don’t offer it. After one game, I was pleasantly surprised at how the game also keeps your top 10 times. Neat! However, after playing 5-6 times (on “extreme” naturally bc I’m an addict), I came to a point when I realized there were no certain moves left. Thinking I may have missed a hint, and being nervous about the ticking clock, I guessed and it worked. But this continued to happen and I realized these are not true sudoku boards. A TRUE SUDOKU BOARD HAS ONLY ONE WAY TO SOLVE THE PUZZLE. The boards in SudokuFullVersion offer several. This is problematic bc you are required to make 50/50 guesses (which often both work) in order to complete the puzzle. There’s no logic as to which 50/50 cells have one or two possibilities. Therefore, there is a new component of luck introduced, and that’s just not sudoku. I love the other features and gameplay functions but I’m not sure I can support this unfortunate flaw in the game itself.

I like the ability to choose between picking cell first or digit first as there are times and needs for both. I happen to be color blind and find all the shifting colors very discerning. I would like to have the option of turning them all off. My favorite Sudoku puzzle has NO color. It’s very clean. That’s what I like about it best. On many other sudoku puzzles I think the cells are too small. This one is just right! Deleting seems a bit clunky here though. At least for me. Maybe after I’m more familiar I will be more at ease with it. All-in-all I like this puzzle quit a bit. It’s just that color thing and deleting....
Best soduku app ever

SudokuFullVersion has the best interface and setting options. It lets you choose whether you’re picking the box first or the number and it doesn’t make you press and hold to keep keep working with the same number. It doesn’t deliver intrusive ads or kick you out if you make a mistake in the course of solving. It highlights all the squares with a number when you’re working it, entered values and penciled values alike. I only do the extreme level. other apps may seem like their harder puzzles are more difficult by comparison but it seems like most of their harder puzzles hit a point where the only way to solve is to assume one of two values and iterate it through to see if it’s a bust down the line, then go back and either lock it all in or iterate through based on the alternate value. when you’re content that you can solve any soduku puzzle and you start playing for speed instead, it’s nice to have an app that serves up a majority of puzzles that can be completed by logic not iteration.
Board set up

This is very enjoyable, and well set-up. The categories are easy to comprehend, and level of skill is for each game is appropriate. The menu is also easy to use, and I’ve used the “hint” item quite a few times LOL. However the “hint” is just that, it’s enough to get out of a slump, but certainly isn’t too much, and doesn’t solve the puzzle. That is, unless you ask for it to be solved. I give it a five, especially since it’s fun.
I used to do the puzzles in the newspaper but digital versions didn’t allow notes, so I haven’t done them in a long time. I was delighted to find that SudokuFullVersion uses the same notation system that I used in the newspaper puzzles.
The only problem I have is ensuring that I have the pencil mode set when I want to make a note and the digit mode when I’m ready to fill a space.
Maybe if the pencil mode inverted colors or something to make the mode more obvious, that would help avoid mistakes.
Great sudoku version!

Grid, numbers, and notes are easy to see. When you are working with a number, all squares containing that number, including in the notes, are highlighted.
Digit first entry allows quick entry of the same number into squares for faster play.
You can enter an incorrect number into a square. If there is already the same number in the line or 9-square, it will highlight in red. Undo will delete numbers in the order you last entered and will replace your notes.

Excellent app. Along with ease of use- taking notes, & filling in, you can try a method & immediately , & check it, then back up move by move. Also, when it is clear you made an error, but it was many moves back, you can back up move by move & check until you u do all the incorrect entries. Then take off the “trading wheels” when you finally figure it out. Great teaching tool.

It gives just a little bit too much help. I would like to be able to turn off the lighting of cells that are noted. I think it drives you to the answer instead of letting your brain go through it’s decision making. I would prefer that when I click on a number in the playing area, the notes not show as colored squares but instead just make the noted numbers BOLD. Let my brain do the puzzle please not my eyes. Thank you
One of the Best Apps I Have

I want to thank the developers for the grace and simplicity of SudokuFullVersion. It has all the features one wants from a sudoku app with literally zero fuss. SudokuFullVersion just rocks. It has no ad walls, no ad screens to break your immersion from a flow state. There is a simple ad banner at the top and that’s it. I am strongly contemplating getting the paid version of SudokuFullVersion just as a thank-you to the devs for making this such a hidden gem of an app. Thank you so much, I wish that more dev teams held the same integrity on this platform.
I've tried more than a dozen Sudoku apps over the years and this one is by far the best for measuring your true speed. The board can be modified for your specific needs and it isn't cumbersome to flip between pencilling your notes to pencilling your final digit for a cell. It may take a bit of effort to figure out how to make the board perfect for yourself; but honestly, if you have the logical skills to do an extreme board correctly then you have the skills and patience to figure out the wether you want crosshairs on your board. Know what I mean? Have fun!

I am a self taught paper and pencil Sudoku player. I tried a few apps but didn’t like how they worked. My sister-in-law was playing SudokuFullVersion and I began to notice it worked exactly how I played with paper and pencil. I love SudokuFullVersion! My strategy “hint” is: Only put small numbers in when you know which 2 boxes a number goes in a row or a cube. Once you have two numbers in a box you know it is one of those 2 numbers so by the process of elimination the open boxes begin to tumble one by one! Enjoy!

I’ve tried several versions and this is definitely my favorite. If I could be granted one wish, however, it would be to have the option of removing the “cell first/digit first” button via the settings and making the choice there instead. If I had a nickel for every time i accidentally bumped that button when going for the 6 button... Also, maybe the option of doing a single tap to enter a small number and a double tap to enter a “permanent” number, so you wouldn’t have to keep hitting the pencil. But again, great game!
Great sudoku app with flexible settings!

I love SudokuFullVersion! I can be entertained for hours. My husband and I like to time ourselves and we love that you can adjust the settings so as few hints are provided as possible, like doing it with pencil and paper!
The only thing that would make SudokuFullVersion better for me is if you could do local competitions, so my husband and I can race to beat each other. Competitive much? LOL! Even something as simple as searching for a puzzle number so we could do the same puzzle would work so you don’t need a login or have to be online. But still 5 stars!!
My favorite Sudoku game!

This game is showing its age, but is still the best one out there. It is the first Sudoku app I played and I always add it to any new device. All the play options are good, especially the count of how many of the 9 numbers are on the board and the high lighting options are like no other I have tried. The numbers are easy to read and easy to select w/o accidentally selecting a wrong number..and I have had that happen on other sudoku apps! The only criticism I have is the game feels a little stale compared to some others. I can’t put my finger on it...but it does not stop me from liking this one best!
I love the challenges of Sudoku. It is a very good brain exercise. I’ve always loved number and solving Sudoku has become addictive for me. When I first saw it, I became curious and observed someone playing the game. It was explained to me by a coworker and I tried it. I begin purchasing Sudoku magazines and looking for them in newspapers and magazines. Then, I found them on the internet. I started off easy and now I am at the extreme level. Each night I exercise my brain for an hour or so. I always try to beat my best time. I have my own method of solving these challenging brain puzzles. By the way, I am a 73 year old lady that believes that keeping the mind sharp is extremely important. Thanks!!!

I’ve tried several computer based sudokus but had not found one that I liked as well as pen and paper until this one. Having the option to switch entry modes is extremely useful, for example when a game requires doing a full of pencil marks, digit first is vastly faster. The pencil mark system is intuitive and the switches allow you to adjust for convenience vs challenge.
I think the only things I’d love to see added are a trainer mode a la Hodoku, and possibly some cell coloring tools although the puzzles I’ve tried that benefited from coloring are outside my skill level at present and I’m not sure I’ll ever get there anyhow.
Nicely done, big fan of SudokuFullVersion .
Colour coded numbers and auto signals
2023-10-13
by StephenJSpace
This is my personal favourite version of sudoku. One thing the bothers me about this game is the amount of time to ‘set up’ if you will and the auto fill option really helps me maintain my sanity.
That being said I think that colour coded numbers would be nice. Right now when you select a number that has already been filed in all other potential possibilities that have been notated are blue, this is nice but how about colorising those notated numbers - say all 1’s are blue, the 2’s are... green, the 4’s... red, etc.
Further it would be nice to have an extra button - auto signals - or AS where when clicked will automatically fill in all cells with the corresponding number where only one possible number is notated for said cell.
Right now, using the current automation features currently available I can solve an extreme puzzle in about 3 minutes, if I really hustle but I find myself spending more than half of that time selecting cells and typing numbers and over half of those cells end up with only one possibility witch kinda makes me feel that I’m wasting a lot of time moving my fingers around the screen superfluously. If I could eliminate this I think I could solve it in under a minute.
This is otherwise a great app.
Good interface, good puzzle selection

by Eric@durhamnc
The interface is simple, but just right. Features: undo, notes. Good: Will tell you if an entry is inconsistent with previous entries, but doesn’t tell you if the entry is wrong. (This is good because it prevents solving by simple guessing instead of logic.) I don’t know yet how much can be undone, so I don’t know whether backtracking is acceptable here. So far, the puzzles all had a a completely direct solution (i.e. no backtracking (aka reductio ad absurdum).) I haven’t seen any popup ads, apart from a single review request, and that only after I’d played several games in three of the four levels. The “easy” games are easy, but not trivial. The “medium” and “hard” games are (in my opinion) really moderately easy and moderate. Game ratings are somewhat subjective so your mileage might vary. I haven’t tried the “extreme” category yet. All in all I am very pleased so far.
My favorite sudoku app...

So simple to use. Good levels of difficulty that are actually good representations of the difficulty names. Gives you the option to do cell by cell input or select a number and the the cells you want to put that number into. Some other apps have a similar option but are confusing to use and understand which mode you’re in. If I were to make any improvements, not that they are absolutely necessary, here they are...
1. Make the highlighted number in the “deck” below the puzzle more obvious, like a color change, or better still, reverse the background/foreground color e.g. the number would turn white over a black background, in case someone is colorblind. Sometimes the bolder number is a bit subtle.
2. Just a luxury item, but it would be nice to choose from different palettes, but definitely not a deal killer.
3. When you finish the puzzle, stay on the finished screen so if you want to take a better look at the finished screen (maybe your finished timing is in a corner, etc.,... before taking you to all your past timings. Could be an “ok” button to leave the screen with an option to view all your timings. Just a thought.
4. Should be smart enough to not let you put a hint number into a square area, if that number is in an already finalized filled-in cell.
My favorite feature is that you can choose the number first and then the cell instead of the other way around with every other app I’ve found. I like all the different options for layout bc I can choose which makes the board easier to read and I can adjust how much I want the board to help visually highlight what I’ve filled in. You can also customize how much help and verification the game will give as you put in numbers and whether numbers are in conflict with what you’ve already marked.
