Nice idea, but it doesn't seem to work - the sliders rarely actually move (especially on the hyperfocal screen, the one people would likely use most often). Also, there's a screen shot on the web site that alludes that one can pick which camera is to be used - but nope, can't access it. Some form of instruction (any) might be nice as well.

Terrible. FieldTools does not even look like the screenshots shown in FieldTools store. There is no "near+far" button, no "Lens" screen, and no "Settings" screen. The info button doesn't even respond half the time -- very frustrating. FieldTools isn't free if you value your wasted time. Deleted.

This has been a GREAT tool for a number of years it worked great and was easy to use - until the update version 2.3.2. It crashes everytime when I try to change the camera & lens info. My itouch is on OS 4.3.5. Thanks for help in fixing the crashes.

I haven't found any problems but it would be nice how to use either with a tutorial or a instruction page for those that have never used this before. I am one of them

I use this VERY often. Although I usually know approx DOF for given set of conditions, FieldTools makes the process precise, consistent and very useful. Comes in very handy for planned pics.

I wish it also had numeric keypad entry for values and angle of view and it would be perfect!

Very nice. I especially like the ability to preset it with the details of each of your lenses.

My only critique is that I would like to see the "Distance to subject" slider be less sensitive, expecially for shorter distances (e.g., when doing macro photography, it's hard to set the distance accurately).

Great reference that facilitates aperture settings for accurate DOF range. No need for guessing or fumbling with a piece of paper. Would like to see flash contribution (ambient to flash ratio). I'll even contribute the simple formulas (Only 2 needed).

I use this every time I shoot. Adding inches to the display was great. Thank you.

Can you please make the sliders less sensitive? It is very hard to get specific measurements. I don't actually want dials. This will add another step to an already elegantly simple layout. Just make them less sensitive or like they behave when you watch a movie; you can drag down to change the sensitivity.

Thanks for this free innovative app! The UI is user friendly, and you can specify the specs for each lens in the settings.

Customizable and accurate. I would not use it for macro work. But then again that is not why i wanted the product. I would recommend this to any one to help improve their photography.

Also it would be great if it had function to calculate when you are diffraction limited to prevent people from going to a too small aperture setting on their camera

The only other con for this is that it does not compute the hyperfocal distance on large lenses properly.u Not that I am going to be taking any hyperfocal shots at 100 mm plus but I may want to selectively focus on some areas.

Thanks for putting together this free app. I'm surprised at all the low ratings. FieldTools works fine. If you want to change the type of camera, hit the "i" located on the lower right corner.

Nice update. It has previous stability issues all fixed. It is the only DOF tools that allows one to switch between lens and camera profiles easily. It is very easy to use. Kudos to the author for providing this useful tool.

This is for version 2.2
Aperture is much better.

Still in this new version'Distant to subject' sliders are much too touchy. It would be much better to have spinners or a way to type in the distance as feet +inches or meter + centimeter.

At present I get close then need to rock my finger back and forth to get closer to the distance needed. When I lift my finger the distance changes. One can take too long fiddling with distant to subject settings. Also, moving ones finger below the line makes the screen turn to settings, so, the instructions are incorrect.

I've had FieldTools since 2010, and have kept it through many generations of iPhones. Over the years the interface felt increasingly dated, but it was so useful I couldn't part with it. I fully expected it to become obsolete with iOS 11, but was surprised with an update today! What a treat to see a developer maintain their tools.

A nice clean interface that is very simple to use. Calculates on the fly, so it is very easy to change variables to experiment. I like it very much!
