I’m a person who reads at least 3 Wikipedia articles everyday, even if it’s just random things that come to my mind. I got an iPhone 3GS in 2009-my first smartphone- and this app was one of the first apps I downloaded. I can proudly say I’ve used Wikipanion daily for a decade now and still going!! This was the first Wikipedia app ever made for Wikipanion Store and I’d say is arguably the best. I’ve tried the others and even the official wiki app- I never made the switch from this app. Thank you so much Robert Chin for creating the first Wikipedia app on Wikipanion Store and for making Wikipedia on iPhone a smooth process. I’m not sure how much attention your app gets anymore ever since the official wiki app came out, but I really hope you see this review and realize that you created one of the better functioning and most essential applications to hit Wikipanion Store during its early years. And again, Wikipanion is still a daily use for me. Still functioning quite well.

Update 1: Wikipanion is so amazing! It is literally easier to use Wikipanion than wikipedia itself (and Wikipedia has one of the finest UIs out there)
By the way, I would not use Wikipanion half as much if it were not for its spectacular app logo -- it's design perfection makes it no less appealing than the forbidden fruit that just beckons you like a neighboring paradise to want to click on it!

Original: Wikipanion is wonderful! I was looking for a quick way to access Wiktionary, and until Wikipanion, I had to open chrome, go to wiktionary, then search. Now I can just 3D touch to search directly! From 3 steps to 1 ! And when it has to do with looking a word up, anything to help fight the troublesome burden of inertia is sweeter than the first sips of honey-laced port wine

Guess the paid version is the only version being regularly updated anymore. Ok, I can get that, but would be nice if bugs could still be addressed in this version - like the broken navigation - when viewing a loaded wiki page, navigating by taping on a section hyperlink only works one time and on that page section, your view will remain unless you manually scroll, can’t use the section hyperlinks to navigate to any other section after the first choice.

this app is easily Wikipanion I have logged the most hours into of any app ever programmed. I love it. It is superb and unmatched in its usability and features. I would marry these 1’s and 0’s if I could, but not until you guys fix the search bar. I hate sometimes having to wait >30 seconds for a Wikipedia page to load, with a wait like that I might as well use safari. Please fix Wikipanion and return it to its former perfection.

Dark mode would be greatly appreciated. My only other issue is every time you open Wikipanion , the first thing you look up always takes a very long time to open (45 seconds - 1 minute) and sometimes will not load at all. Would gladly pay for upgrade if these are resolved.

This the simplest and best alternative to Wikipedia official app. I have been using this for many years. Only issue is lately the search results have got extremely slow, i don’t know what the issue is but hopefully the developers fix them.

I’ve used Wikipanion over 10 years now and I’ve oddly grown nostalgic of it. Been on my main screen for all of my iPhones. Still works amazing and does everything I need it to. Only wish would be for a dark mode. Here’s to another 10 years.

Been using Wikipanion since I had my first iPod touch back around 2008 or 2009, and it has been consistently clean, intuitive, and perfectly functional. I've never had a single complaint. Wikipanion has stood the test of time and is a mainstay on my device.

Wikipanion used to be the best. I used it literally everyday. Some badness has happened to it though, and now it hangs when opening and when searching articles. It is become so bad, I have been forced to use the official Wikipedia app, and that app is horrible!
Maybe the developer will fix it, maybe not. I am not sure I will know because I have deleted it. Wikipanion used to be so good, however.

I’ve been using this app from the beginning. I think I first had it on my iPhone 3G; now on the XR. I’ve tried other Wiki apps but they don’t compare. The only thing is that I use dark mode on any app that I can but when I open this I get a blast of white light to the face which momentarily blinds me. Please add dark mode

I’ve used this for what feels like forever— probably at least 7 years. It’s been good, but it’s getting tougher around the edges. Really needs better slide-right-to-go-back animation. And if I 3D Touch the icon and select search, the search interface is not only completely messed up, but it plain and simple doesn’t work. Always returns zero results.

This has always been my favorite wiki app, but recently there are problems with the display when I use it on my iPhone 8. Are there any plans to update to fix this problem?

I’ve been using Wikipanion since it first came out. Probably the longest running app on my phone. Always had some bugs with links and certain files, but it wasn’t a big deal. With the latest update I can no longer select text in an article. Which means I can’t copy text. Dealbreaker. Guess I have to find something else.

Extremely useful and easy to use app. However: I’d like to have a way to collapse or hide all the “Part of a series” etc. category/subcategory lists at the top of some entries. That stuff can go on and on and is just really annoying.

I love Wikipanion. I think it’s way better than the official Wikipedia app for reading. I only ever use the official app if I want to edit. Also the dev is very responsive. Both times I reported something, I received a response very quickly.

I've had Wikipanion on all my devices for forever. It's been a reliable go-to and a must have app. Easy to use, visually simple, no clutter. Long time user for as long as you update!

Would like 3D Touch (peek pop) like the official app. Otherwise this one is way better!!! I love this app!

Love the persistent back/forward buttons and the search bar. Really, Wikipanion design is pure poetry!

I’ve been using Wikipanion for years and it’s always been my go-to for Wikipedia. However, it’s strange that it still doesn’t have a dark mode setting.

Best user interface of all the wiki apps. Just needs to be compatible with dark mode.

This used to be my absolute favorite app. It was probably the second app I ever acquired on my iPhone a decade ago. Now the load times are unbearable. I’ll often just use a Safari to search because it isn’t worth the wait. Please fix this and Wikipanion will be perfect again.

I’ve used and loved this app for at least a decade now and it lives on my home screen. Just noticed the color of the icon changed which seems trivial but is really unpleasant to look at now 🙁 Actually considering switching apps so I don’t have to see it anymore, please change it back

Hey Robert, thanks for the response. That’s a shame, but I understand. Maybe the Plus version could be differentiated by having a plus sign added into the logo for example, or maybe even the colors of the plus and free versions could be switched 😏 I’m sure you have bigger things to attend to though, thanks for developing this for a decade! That’s kind of a cool accomplishment.

I, like many other reviewers apparently, am a longtime fan of this app. It would be fair to estimate that I’ve been using it everyday for nearly a decade. It’s fast, easy to use, no ads. My only request is a dark mode, this is the only app I use regularly that doesn’t have one. I briefly switched to the official Wikipedia app for that reason but found its navigation and UI lacking in comparison so I’m back. I’d happily pay for the pro version if it included a dark mode. Thanks so much for your work on Wikipanion!
