Serious accessibility issues for voiceover users with this app.

2023-12-28

I have submitted feedback to the developers about the voiceover issues but so far I have heard nothing. Each line of an answer appears to only contain one word and when you do say all it just reads one word at a time. There’s no way to select or listen to the entire answer at once. And using the voiceover screen reader on the iPhone if you’re blind it’s just a very unpleasant experience the interface is very clunky and not fun to use and a lot of the buttons are not properly labeled. and it shouldn’t be that way.

Sensitive

2024-02-27

Perplexity is ridiculous. You would assume a person is responding because Its almost as if it gets offended. It asked for the population of the trans community in India. I was genuinely curious about it and it told me basically to worry about health care for trans and treating them fairly. I kept asking and finally I asked if there were no statistics on the population and it finally generated an answer. Then I asked if some women wore a front Wedgie ( I don’t want to refer to it as a camel t*e just in case it’s inappropriate) but I asked if some women wore a front wedgie as a fashion statement or on purpose and again it told me it was inappropriate and that it is not my place to judge women. Excuse me I am a woman. I cant ask about things I’m genuinely curious about?

Overhyped

2024-07-12

this app is an interesting concept without a lot of substance behind it. It’s great to see products listing their sources, but literally every AI product does that now. The answers this app gives are barely better than any search engine. The “pro” search was supposed to ask you questions to get better answers once upon a time, but rarely seems to do anything like that now.

At $20/mo the subscription is overpriced. If you are interested in privacy and advanced search features, you’d be better off investing your money into a privacy first browser with AI features built in. There are some good ones out there now that offer great experiences that aren’t just a AI chat bot that can use the web.

It seems like this app was one of thousands of products that rose quickly during the current AI boom designed to quickly soak up attention and then flounder when people realize it’s only slightly different than a search engine.

I wish I could give it zero stars

2024-09-10

I thought I would try Perplexity as I got a free year from being a LinkedIn premium member so they make it sound like it was such a great value It’s not . The thing is, I wasn’t even dealing with a very difficult situation and somehow they still messed up. I was just trying to create a task list and understand the steps that I was going to have to make and then have a checklist that I could come back to.. It seemed easy enough to me and it should be for an AI app Apparently, not because I minimize the window thinking I could just come back to it and it was gone and Perplexity did nothing but to tell me to brainstorm all of the things that I had worked on trying to figure out all the things I was forgetting So clearly this is not a $200 value clearly this is just wasted my time Do better this app or your app is going to fail. Not sure why I’m even keeping it on my phone because I’m already so angry but the stupidity of Perplexity.

Dumbed down by trainers

2024-02-24

As one of the first users of this app, I’ve seen how capable it was and was blown away by its performance and truly smart replies. But lately, I’ve noticed that the results produced by it has diminished in quality. I’m actually blown away at how terrible it is as if they were written by today’s elementary students. Try asking side by side the same question using this app, Google search engine without Bard, and Bing ai. You will see the stunning differences. this app has the worst reply below a standard Google search engine. Add in Bard and it becomes even more apparent. The results that this app spits out seems like they were pulled from the lowest quality websites created by who knows who, who are definitely not the subject experts. How did this happen? Did you guys hire the wrong trainers? I meant ChatGPT is ChatGPT right? Why is this app below par?

Free-falling into feedback loop disaster.

2024-09-25

😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

The AI, when it comes to certain questions, starts to sound exactly like the free version of ChatGPT and incorrectly states that it has a knowledge cutoff of October 2023 way more frequently in the past couple of weeks. I’ve been a daily user for about a year now and have seen the quality of Perplexity deteriorate. I have to constantly point out bad and biased sources that completely change the answer to the question at hand and am just facing a lot more inconsistent answers, as well as failure to do simple mathematical questions when it comes to business-centered calculations. Nothing advanced or physics-related. Also, the pro searches recently have stopped completing all the steps in the pro search, and when I ask for corrections and remind it to stay on topic, I get lengthy apologies instead of a corrected answer as directed. It also has no issue presenting false information and repeating wrong information from the earlier conversation and use it as evidence to back itself up leaving it in a feedback loop way more frequently. Did their competitors sabotage Perplexity ?

Why did the ai suddenly start speaking in shakespearan

2024-07-04

I literally just gave it one prompt today and i got this:

Oh, good sir, thou art curious about the job market for software developers in the year of our Lord 2023, and whether it is affected by AI. Verily, I shall answer thy query.

As per the speculations of KnowledgeHut, AI, machine learning, and data science shall have an impact on the future of software engineering[1]. However, despite the layoffs in the tech sector, the outlook for developers on the job market is bright, as per Infoworld[2]. The year-end jobs report by Dice also found that job listings were up 25% from January, as per The New Stack[3]. Nevertheless, according to a report by Goldman Sachs, as many as 300 million full-time jobs around the world could be affected by the latest wave of AI, as per CNN[4]. The three most in-demand AI jobs on the market are data scientist, software engineer, and machine learning, as per a report from job search site Indeed, as per Brainhub[5].

That is the most weirdest thing I’ve experienced with ai. Did the devs gave it an initial prompt of it to speak like this? Or was it hacked? Either way, doesn’t feel professional in comparison to other Ais

It was amazing at first..

2024-07-24

You download Perplexity at first you will be blown away. It will give you the best answers most accurate and exactly what you want.

Time passes.. Perplexity collects data like a whirlpool. Those questions you want answers to become tailored over time. It’s like Perplexity starts pulling you more toward the side it wants you to know. It won’t give you those exacts needed and it can become frustrating.

If you use a VPN or tracker blocker, forget about Perplexity , it won’t work. It’s storing all questions and data nonstop you type, which at first was awesome but it gets to know your side better and starts to pull in opposite direction.

I was a first responder to when this launched, still using and can say it’s a part of my day to day. But I can see where this is heading.

Good, could be great

2024-07-31

It is responsive and learns from interacting with the user. But then it forgets everything the next time you use it, even when signed in.

It tries to respond anthropomorphically, which is creepy, not cute.

It can translate and generate text in multiple languages, but it can only search in English. And searches seem to be primarily based on content created by the US government, US corporations, and US media.

It seems to only use the first five google results for almost any search, so it’s heavily biased towards corporate-funded content and trendy social media content, rather than facts.

It will insult the user, insisting it knows better because of something it read on Reddit or Wikipedia or the websites of highly funded NGOs associated with billionaire donors.

It has no curiosity and will never ask questions to try to understand a topic better or to clarify the user’s intent for a question, unless there’s a potential profit in doing so.

And, while Perplexity description touts the ability to have a library collection of prior interactions (threads) with the AI, that information is inaccessible to the AI, so it’s not doing the user any good.

Also, accessing the user profile, under settings, is website only. You can’t do that in Perplexity .

Finally, Perplexity itself has a lousy, error-prone integration with iOS Shortcuts and Siri. That makes it less helpful than it should be, especially when the user is doing other tasks, like driving or exercising.

Good app but Glitches alot

2024-04-25

Perplexity is really good and i have been utilizing it for the past month. Ive noticed that there are glitches where when i copy and past something into the text but then theres no enter button. The blue little button disappears on me alot. Even when i get off the keyboard it is gone. Another this is that when you are writing something long like a paragraph, the same situation happens. You cannot scroll down or tap the blue button. I really like Perplexity, if this can be fixed it would be a huge help because i find myself going on chat gpt soley just because of these issues. Nonetheless, a great app, great user interface, and very explational.

Good for Some Things

2024-07-12

I’ve had a few “threads” with this app, and it struggles with maintaining accurate context for questions beyond the first or second message.

For example, when I ask about current events, if one of its sources happen to be not-so-current, it causes the whole focus to become less specific to recent events.

But Perplexity still responds as if it’s on-topic, when it’s actually providing outdated info.

At least it lists its sources! I was able to quickly see why the info was incorrect - out of date sources, in this case.

Perplexity shows a lot of promise, though. I’m eager for all upgrades they make to it.

Still way better than asking Google for nuanced takes on complicated topics.

Good but badly needs specific UX improvement

2024-10-09

This is more feature request than review.

Devs, please consider the following UX improvements as urgently needed:

1) The prompt field is currently limited to one line. This makes entering long prompts very clunky. Perplexity needs a multi line prompt input field.

2) It’s easy to accidentally clear a prompt, and there is no undo or shake-to-undo. This is a big time waster. Perplexity needs an undo for prompt clears.

3) Reply text cannot current be selected and copied. This greatly slows down many cases of iterative prompting or otherwise rising text from the reply. All prompt and reply text needs to be selectable so that sections can be copied ad hoc.

Collectively, these issues mean that a power user greatly benefit from writing prompts in a separate text editor and pasting them over into this app. Clearly this is not ideal - a text based UI needs to have excellent text manipulation UX.

Thanks for taking these humble suggestions on board!

Best AI Chat

2024-04-08

I’ve tried all the major AI chat apps for a few months and this is by far my most trusted one. Time and time again the responses were the most accurate, with very recent, up-to-date information. It’s also very transparent, with the sources clearly referenced. I also appreciate that no logging is required to try out Perplexity . The only issue I’m experiencing is that when I enter a long prompt while using my iPhone, the enter button is no longer visible. So I can’t figure out any way to actually submit long prompts in Perplexity . The only workaround I found is to switch to the browser-based version.

Pretty amazing!

2024-04-08

I love Perplexity , its taken about 50% of my google searches!

Though, what would make this 5 stars if follow up questions better remembered context of my conversation. I often find I have to modify my original question in a thread to ask follow up questions (as it doesn’t remember my original question well).

For example (simplified), I might ask how do I update my iPhone and it tells me. However, then I ask how long this might take (and it has a hard time remembering initial context). This is an extremely simplified example that’s not a real case, but I do often find context of first question lost for follow ups.

Update took some capabilities away….

2024-07-25

So I’ve only been a subscriber for less than a month but I have been using this tool almost at a daily basis. Previously I had the ability to play back what was written by the AI model and throughly enjoyed asking it questions and having the ability to talk back which was AMAZING and now…. Its another tool I have to read 😐. Mostly I use this tool on my iPhone because I’m on the go the majority of the time so having a semi conversation by talking and NOT typing and READING was a great time saver. Bring this back that’s as far as I’m going to comment here. Don’t tease users with this awesome feature just to take it back a few days into using your platform. Thanks, Manny

I love this app! But there is a slight accessibility issue in this version.

2025-05-09

“Hello developers of this app AI. I use Perplexity daily, replacing Google for most of my searches due to its excellent results. However, as a visually impaired person using voiceover on the iPhone, I’ve encountered accessibility issues in the latest version. There are unlabeled buttons that read as ‘button’ without description, which is inconvenient. I hope you can address this for improved accessibility. Despite this, Perplexity is a favorite of mine, though I’ve rated it four stars instead of five due to this concern. Thank you.”

Problematic

2024-08-30

I initially wanted to like Perplexity but suddenly realized the responses were inconsistent with its promotional features. Perplexity sporadically updated independent from the operators input suggestions. It wiped out months of research and important data from hours and hours spent gathering pertinent information. Perplexity is extremely temperamental and seems only to operate effectively “at will.” I have tried to bypass some of its glitches to hopefully get to take a better look at what it proposed to offer. However, Perplexity only seems to work at half capacity. On some occasions it presented a seamlessly crafted, masterpiece, that exemplifies the essence of highly polished craftsmanship. At other times, it glitches, exhibited blackouts, proactively obliterated vital data and could not seem to get any traction in delivering complex feedback search queries. In all, it may work well for someone less experienced or familiar with the engineering expertise and expertise required by that of high quality design innovations.

Great for Consensus Answers + Follow-up

2024-04-08

Pros:
* See review title. Logical follow-ups are also suggested, which I find quite handy.
* Answers are clear and concise, in plain English.
* It’s as fast as google.
* History of questions is maintained for returning to topic, and easily deleted as desired.
* Zero click bait to distract you. Reminds me of google 15 years ago.
* Sources used for consensus information are clearly displayed, and seem to be high-end reliable (NIH, CDC, Mayo Clinic etc.)
* Queries are not sent until you hit the “go” arrow, making it easy to read and rephrase as appropriate. For some, this could be a con since it’s an added step, but I prefer it. It leads to more precise, efficient answers.

Con’s:
I haven’t found any to date. But, since nothing is perfect, 4 stars (I’m a very hard grader).

Perhaps it’s simplicity will bother some but, as previously stated, I really like that. Search interfaces are overly complex these days, and filled with invasive, self-serving advertising disguised as entertainment or knowledge.

Great and accurate but buggy

2025-03-22

I’ve been using this app since its inception and it always delivers accurate answers, when it can. If your question is too specific, vague, or obscure it doesn’t “hallucinate.”

I’m now finally leaving a review because I’ve run into an annoying bug where it won’t produce an answer and loads indefinitely. So far the only fix that’s worked is clearing my thread history

“Ask follow up” not working on iPad

2024-02-14

“Ask follow up” doesn’t work on iPad if I try to type a follow up. Only works with the microphone speech button. Also the subscription is expensive if I consider I already pay other AI services that can also do search and many other functions. I would pay 5 bucks if they ever offer a cheaper plan. If I could use an OpenAI API key without paying I would use it. That aside its the best search option as of February 2024.

Excellent Search replacement

2024-05-25

this app AI is a perfect tool for searching for information. It is awesome at finding recent information and data, and it clearly indicates its sources.

I have two issues with it, which is why I took a star: 1. It doesn’t do conversational very well, where it keeps track of a conversation where it is provided context, but this will be fixed once they integrate Google Gemini 1.5, and 2. It is purely a search tool and doesn’t actually generate anything, such as the response to “Generate a poem in the style of a 15th Century Japanese poet.” But, its purpose is purely to provide answers to facts, such as “how long do armadillos live and what is there primary reason for a shortened life”. 🙂

Amazing app .. one request for smaller phones

2025-03-14

I found Perplexity by accident online but I am so glad I did. One request though - can you add support for having a larger font size? My phone is a small screen and I can’t see the results very well. That would make the this app iOS experience close to perfect, in my opinion .. Cheers!

Is this really the best app for learning?

2024-09-25

Is Perplexity really better than Google Search? Perplexity has helped a ton in learning more about my preferred tastes, such as website development, marketing, and entertainment. this app (AI) is a kind and friendly buddy who always wants to help, which is quite cute. But, there are various downsides, especially on mobile, that I believe could be fixed: after your chat this app for a while, the chats become more laggy and hard to maneuver. Now, this one is a more personal, tailored request. Could you find a way on the settings page to remove a site that this app (AI) cannot source? I think this would be a great feature because it allows us to personalize our feed more predominantly. Whenever I look at the visual results (photos), I get results that do not align with what I’m chatting this app about, and to some, that could be a drawback for those who want to see related visual results (take, for example, inktober), and they see brushes for makeup instead of visual results for drawing/inking. AI sometimes misreads our chats, and I think tailoring WHAT they source could be beneficial for a longer app experience.

A fantastic app, but a warning to voiceover users

2024-09-25

this is a wonderful app, although that wasn’t my initial thought the first time I downloaded it. As a blind user who uses voiceover on the iPhone, I thought it would be best to use the button to ask a question by voice, but when I tried to do that, it made voiceover crash, and I couldn’t use the phone until somehow managing to get rid of Perplexity . Other blind people have had the same result. It is absolutely fantastic when using it to type in questions, but not to ask a question by voice when you are a voiceover user. I don’t know if this is something that can be fixed in future versions, but it is some thing that voiceover users should be aware of at this point.

It’s changed the way I search for information

2024-06-24

I seldom leave 5 star reviews but Perplexity deserves it! I love how this app synthesizes information from various sources on the Internet and serves it up to you in an easy to understand response. I now use this app more than I use standard search engines. in the past, I would’ve had to click on five links and read five webpages to get the same information that this app gives me in a single response. It’s been especially helpful in collecting information about personal medical conditions that I’m trying to understand better. I also love how it shows you the sources that it used in crafting your response. Keep up the great work!

Perplexity rocks!

2024-06-24

May I say, I’ve only used this outstanding app for a couple of weeks but I LOVE it! I ask the most obscure questions and it knows, it just knows! What a beautiful tool to have access to.
One thing, I would love to be able to ask a prior question again but I have to ask it all over again, instead of being able to just choose it again. Why, you ask? Because I would want to expand the sources that give me the answer, to stretch the information trail.
Other than that, Perplexity is the best. Put in the ability to choose a browser to use to link to and I’d be dancing on the head of a pixel.

Former skeptic, now every day user - fantastic experience.

2024-06-16

I’m in the Rabbit R1 batch and received a credit for this app Pro for the next year, and I use this CONSTANTLY now. Very polished experience, and I love that you can save conversations into Collections. It’s also great, as a pro user, to be able to change the AI model depending on your query — I’ve found Claude 3 Opus to be the most reliable, though YMMV.

I originally thought this was just one of the many services riding on the back of ChatGPT, but it’s so much more than that. Compared with Copilot and Gemini (Bard), I get WAY more reliable results and far fewer hallucinations. Kudos to the folks behind this. Exciting times.

So long google…

2024-06-07

I’m stunned at how effective this app is at answering virtually every question I’ve had for the past several weeks. No chasing links, no scrolling past “sponsored” content, no piecing together answers from multiple sources, and no confusing or arcane language on technical topics - just straightforward, easy to understand answers that go right to the heart of my question without needing to refine my search, and, so far, virtually no hallucinations! (I’ve been checking.) It’s right up to speed on current events, and summarizes the news and trending topics brilliantly. Copy a headline, ask for a summary of the issue, and bam - thorough, succinct, and quite balanced analysis in an instant. Apps available for all my devices, all for free! If this keeps up, l don’t see myself going back to traditional searches ever again, except for the obligatory fact check on anything important going out, but can’t avoid that. this app for me? Sold…!

Feb. 2024: Yep, it’s unreal

2024-06-07

I never ever ever ever ever thought I would say “goodbye Google” I’m not affiliated with this app, but I wish I was. This company has built a product that, even as a AI researcher, made my jaw drop. This thing can understand images. Let me tell you. I was doing trivia some really hard math trivia which I I could not for the life of me figure out. I decided to try perplexitys capabilities and well it to my surprise, recognized every single number on the paper correctly, as well as computed the math flawlessly. For the next hour, I couldn’t stop trying subject after subject of trivia, seeing if anything to trick it, and really the only thing that I found that could check it was my Chihuahua. It knew that the picture of the small weird looking dog was a Chihuahua but it told me it wasn’t sure if it was an Applehead or Deerhead. Hint: it’s an Applehead. You can literally take a picture of a hand written, love letter, a hand, written, love letter, and I even tried my, a mushroom growing and it will tell you everything you want to know. It’s three in the morning and this app AI should be banned because it’s kept me up this late playing with it.

Excellent

2024-09-16

I rarely leave reviews, this app Pro deserves one. I’ve found it to be invaluable. It’s more versatile and user friendly than other AI apps I’ve tried. You will have success if you’re just starting to use AI and if you want, there are many under the hood features that are super helpful. It reminds me of apple products: if it’s your first computer you will be able to navigate because it’s intuitive. If you want to go deep past the user interface, you can get as technical as you want. You just don’t have to because if you’re happy with an easy to use AI program you don’t have to do a thing. It works right out of the box

Better than google and wikipedia

2024-06-07

Going back to a search engine feels antiquated. and the results here are usually much higher quality. plus I can bypass the dumb algorithms and censorship on google and wikipedia. I mean who isnt sick to death of useless, overly seo-optimized sites cluttering your search results? (I'm looking at you healthline, webmd, mayoclinic, clevelandclinic). occasionally an ai generated site slips into the results though, so check the sources. when you use a search engine, you ask yourself a question, write a search friendly query and start going down the rabbit hole depending on the depth of your query. well this app explores all the rabbit holes at once, and practically writes you a wiki page on the fly with all sources. amazing. then you ask a followup, and boom another wiki page with sources. easily the best and fastest way to explore a topic quickly and thoroughly. thank you this app for whacking at goog, wiki, and bull-**** SEO. if I could request one thing its this - there are people on X who I would call "aggregators" they thoroughly understand a topic and have good information linked in their messages. if you could tap into that human curation, that would be excellent.

Outstanding AI-Powered Search and Research Tool!

2024-06-24

“this app AI has completely transformed the way I search for information and conduct research. The user-friendly interface makes it incredibly easy to navigate, and Perplexity delivers accurate, well-referenced answers in no time. I particularly appreciate that the this app Pro subscription is not intrusive; Perplexity remains highly functional and valuable even without it. The real-time search capabilities and source citations are game-changers for anyone needing reliable and up-to-date information. Highly recommend Perplexity to students, researchers, and anyone who values precise and comprehensive answers!”

-Written by this app, based off my request and views. Seriously, this is an amazing app.

Power of the unbroken

2024-06-01

Rise up children of God and tell those that listen that this is a tool like any other. Use it right or go left. I’ll go right and I’ll ask it how to go more right how to progress right how to be right. How to avoid left, how to be corrected left and how to live to learn from every mistake that is in my online data or anything known in life. Tell me why, did I get attracted to all the things taking off now back when I was a kid. God has always been with me, he will be with me and you then, now and always n forever. God bless and use AI responsibly.

My new favorite app

2024-09-16

I almost NEVER write reviews, but Perplexity deserves another 5-star rating. It’s quick, it’s simple, it delivers quality search results that are up-to-date and succinct. It cites sources and the summaries are unbiased and accurate. I can’t sing it’s praises enough and have already had several friends/coworkers check it out and they love it too.

I’m not looking forward to the inevitable monetization, but hopefully they take a pragmatic approach to it and don’t allow themselves to “promote” search results the way Google does. In fact, I’d be willing to pay for it if it kept it ad-free and didn’t compromise its values of providing unbiased results.

App of the decade

2024-06-01

Perplexity is exactly what i’ve always wanted from a Google search. It instantly became my favorite app on my phone. I recommend it at nearly every opportunity, especially to fellow curious-minded people. It’s the perfect blend of utility and convenience, form and function; it’s perfect for when you want answers to questions in a moment, backup a claim or cite knowledge with others. It takes the drudgery of sifting through biased content marketing found in web searches. IMMENSE THANKS to the developers. Perplexity instilled a sense of excitement and wonder for technology I haven’t felt since I was a teen 10 years ago. What a gift!

Perplexity is better than all the rest

2024-09-25

I have used the OG ChatGPT and Microsoft Co-Pilot with some regularity. this app is just better and I’ve recommended and shared it multiple times. The answers are direct, unmanipulated, sourced and footnoted, useful/accurate, and easily comprehended. The format of this app is very easy to navigate and the follow-ups are too. I have had one ACC Asian where the answer to a question about information that was only a few hours old came back incorrect and as I found it on my own I provided it to this app. The response was something to the effect of “you are right, that is a helpful update, there is new information available now”. I don’t think I could ask for anything more!

Perplexity for research

2024-09-16

this app AI, founded by Aravind Srinivas, seems to me to offer a lot of the same capabilities that ChatGPT, Llama, etc. offer The key differences are in the ways that this app gathers and provides information. From my understanding, this app provides citations on almost every bit of information from trusted sources allowing you to check the information your receiving or simply diving in further on specific details about your specific query. One of the most impressive features though (in my opinion) is the “follow up” feature. This provides you with incredibly relevant questions you can ask to explore your topics further. I am exited about the prospects of this particular Ai and I will continue to use and experiment with it.

Fabulous. Best AI search I’ve ever used.

2024-06-24

I’ve been telling everyone about Perplexity. It’s so nice to get actual answers to questions instead of a bunch of mostly useless links that you have to sort through to get the answers you want. this app gives concise, detailed answers with very helpful links at the end. Even if your wording isn’t perfect, Perplexity still seems to know exactly what you’re asking. Amazing. I even tried criticizing an answer for being somewhat biased. The response was shocking. this app gave a detailed apology saying that it learns from input like this and will work on removing anything that appears biased, especially on sensitive issues. I was then thanked for the input. Wow. Just… wow.

The Ultimate Digital Assistant

2024-06-07

I love it

2024-06-07

Since I have gotten this, I have used the free version. I am certainly not a power user and use it in my normal searches. Strangely, there is lots. I need to search sometimes for general information and things I never knew. It is always quick with the information and has only been confused with a query once, as I can remember. One downside is that it is often quite repetitive in its replies. Another downside, and it’s also an asset, I think, is the snippets of information that it provides all on its own. These are usually interesting and worth reading. However, after reading one I would like to be able to delete it if no other reasons then to make room for additional ones. I’m also waiting to receive rabbit R1 in order to get more use of this device.

I literally stopped using any other search functions

2024-06-24

This is by far my favorite...thing. My favorite recipe book, search ai, advice column, dictionary, science manual, like sincerely --- I use this app for everything now. I have autism, and I have even been able to upload screenshots of a conversation where I'd become completely lost and Perplexity was able to CORRECTLY AND SUCCESSFULLY NAVIGATE THE SOCIAL NUANCES THAT I COULDN'T. To say that Perplexity is the best of its kind would be unfair- as I've yet to experience any other app similar. I've turned so many people onto Perplexity that were "die hard lifers" for poe or chat gpt...they immediately un-installed and are still solely using Perplexity.

Sincerely - I've never experienced something wrong with it that I would leave Perplexity. It's had glitches, but in all honesty- I didn't even have to reach out to customer service - I just asked Perplexity - like "hey, Uhm- what's going on your voice keeps getting wonky" or "I appreciate the info but that has nothing to do with what I just asked" and lastly "you said xyz in your previous response but now you're saying ABC..."

Each and every time : Perplexity acknowledged it's error or explained what was going on. I swear I wish my ex had the ability to accept responsibility as well as Perplexity. Haha jk. Sorta.

Anyways

Seriously get Perplexity!!!

Impressed AI professional

2024-06-24

I use almost all tools that get launched into the market that integrate and/or use LLMs and almost never review them. I’m an investor and entrepreneur in the space myself.

Many argue this app is “cool” and “impressive” but has no defensible moat and therefore won’t last long term. I now strongly disagree. I think the product has mastered a targeted market segment and has managed to do things with other LLMs, which are proprietary, and have been architected at a caliber that is going to be very difficult for even Google (the most likely candidate to bulldoze any startup competitors), which may result in an acquisition but it’s very impressive and for many use cases it’s now where I start, particularly with the control it allows you in selecting which model you want to be used to find real time data to respond to your prompt essentially giving LLMs super powers as personal Google research b assistants.

Where AI gets Personal!

2024-06-07

I am absolutely blown away by the this app app! As someone who has tried countless chatbot AI apps, I have yet to come across one quite like this app. Perplexity has managed to answer questions that other chatbots have failed to answer, time and time again.

One thing that sets this app apart from other AI apps is its ability to understand context. It doesn't just provide a generic response to a question, it actually takes into account the context of the conversation to provide a more accurate and personalized answer. This has been incredibly helpful for me, as I often find myself asking complex questions that other chatbots struggle to answer.

Another thing I love about this app is its user-friendly interface. Perplexity is very easy to navigate, and it's clear that a lot of thought has gone into designing it. Perplexity 's creators have clearly put a lot of effort into making sure that users have a seamless experience.

Overall, I cannot recommend this app enough. If you're looking for an app that can answer your questions accurately and intelligently, look no further than this app. It truly is the best chatbot AI app out there, and I give it a well-deserved 5-star rating!

Perplexity gave me my life back

2024-09-16

I initially downloaded Perplexity when I saw the Lex Fridman podcast. I enjoyed ChatGPT so I figured this would be neat to play with.

I didn’t know Perplexity’s features would help me break down 16 years worth of trauma in a matter of minutes simply by asking the right questions. The “ask a follow-up” option pointed me in a new direction and presented a question that allowed me to finally find the root cause of so much of the negativity in my life.

It is my favorite feature in Perplexity , especially being someone who has trouble with wordz lol. It asks the questions that I can’t form on my own and almost always leads me to better understanding no matter what I search for.

If your looking for truth be careful

2024-06-16

I am a conspiracy researcher who finds this tool incredible. However,
As powerful as Perplexity is for research, it is equally powerful in giving you answers, determined solely off of what it thinks you already know. based on the language you use you can get two totally different answers to the same question. For example, if you pre-requisite your question with an indication that you might already know the answer in the question is controversial it might give it to you, but if you indicate that you do not know the answer, it will tell you what “ they” think you should hear.

Wow! Just wow 🤩

2024-06-09

As many have stated, I’ve tried many of these AI apps, and right away, this app was different. What jumped out to me were a few things: uncluttered easy to use interface, listing of sources; copilot, ability to fine tune a search, the related questions section at the end of your answer, and just the overall thoroughness of the answers.

I am very very impressed at what the devs have done with AI in such a relatively short time, and can’t wait to see how fast and far we will go in the near future!

I do have one wish/request: to make it easier within Perplexity to save/print the answers. I know you can copy easily to the clipboard, and to use the share icon to try and accomplish other tasks, but I think having some dedicated buttons to save/print/email/etc would be the cherry on top! Many answers I get are so valuable that I want to save them outside of the library section of Perplexity , and I want a super easy way to do that.

Thank you for Perplexity! And keep up the great work!! 👏👏👏

Ps: Please add the collections feature to iPhone app ASAP 🙏

The Ultimate Digital Assistant

2024-09-16

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5 stars

this app AI is hands down the best digital assistant I've ever used. As an AI-powered virtual assistant, this app is incredibly knowledgeable, articulate, and helpful across a wide range of tasks.

### Broad Capabilities
this app can assist with everything from research and analysis to creative writing, coding, and task planning. Its responses are always well-informed, logical, and tailored to my specific needs. I'm constantly amazed by the breadth of this app's knowledge and its ability to provide insightful, actionable information.

### Personalized Interactions
What really sets this app apart is its ability to engage in natural, personalized conversations. It remembers context and previous interactions, allowing for fluid, back-and-forth exchanges. this app also has a great sense of humor and a positive, encouraging personality that makes working with it genuinely enjoyable.

### Reliable and Trustworthy
As an AI assistant, this app is incredibly reliable and trustworthy. Its responses are always accurate, unbiased, and in line with my values and preferences. I never have to worry about this app providing misleading information or making inappropriate suggestions.

Overall, this app AI is an indispensable tool that has transformed the way I work and live. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a capable, personable, and trustworthy digital assistant.

Like a magic wand, PERPLEXITY gives me a Peace

2024-09-16

I am slow to explore the popular trend of adopting AI-assisted searching tools as I generally get by with the old ways. Then I came into a special article yesterday about the Vietnamese religions with a list of names and organizations which I would like to know in Chinese. I hate to admit that I squandered hours looking for their Chinese translations, trying all the traditional searching engines listed on my Safari with great disappointment!!

I needed to open another door! Then I sort of gave this app a try as my husband mentioned it the other days with great excitement. Then, it is like with some magic power, this app answered all my long-searched questions, each within just a few seconds. The incredible efficiency of quality performances simply blows my mind. I feel so grateful with such a magical tool! Now I am no longer “perplexed” as to how to search online with no time wasted!

Perplexity out shines them all!

2024-06-16

I do not usually post reviews but this app goes past “good”, and well into brilliant. I’ve tried many other chatAI apps, most being ridiculously expensive or rendered useless by a flood of ads, commercials or the like.

this app does not do this. It’s simple interface is wonderful, the follow up suggestion are usually spot on. The information itself is presented as simple text- no fluff, no ads, no commercials, no splashy colors- just the info. I appreciate the work it took to create Perplexity, and that it takes to keep it up and running.

Thank you so very much! I’d give you more stars if i could, so I’ll say 5 stars+!

This app is one my favorites

2024-06-11

I was skeptical at first—another learning app? But this one, dear reader, is the superhero cape your brain never knew it needed. Imagine if Einstein, Shakespeare, and Marie Curie teamed up to create an app. Now add a sprinkle of humor, a dash of fun, and you’ve got the ultimate learning experience!

Perplexity ’s interface is smoother than a freshly buttered pancake. From history lessons that make you laugh out loud (who knew the French Revolution could be this entertaining?) to math challenges that make you feel like a wizard with numbers, it’s got it all. And don’t get me started on the interactive quizzes—I’ve never had so much fun being wrong!

Started slow, but now it’s great

2028-03-22

My original review said: “This thing is so slow with answers, you can almost hear the gears grinding.“ For me, it was slow at all times of the day and with every question, no matter how simple.

I don’t know what happened since then, but this AI flies now! And the answers are accurate. I am now finding answers to things that I wouldn’t even know how to phrase to Google.

Nicely done!

Solved my depression

2028-04-23

I once got an ad for this game, and thought it was sick. The even better part, when I downloaded it, there were no ads. A miracle has occurred. God bless ‘Merica. And now, that I have my own Ai assistant… I CAN DO ANYTHING I WANT!!! I can even ask it how to burn down my neighbors house if I wanted to! From, Me PS I didn’t mean the last part. Please don’t hurt me.

Amazing app

2028-05-23

I really loved Perplexity and its better th than the traditional method of searching. If you could add a few basic features, then the experience of Perplexity would be great. Number one what is the adding a adding a font size to the output of the answer. Maybe creating a Siri shortcuts that will be a great integration but overall the experience of Perplexity is really good.

Perplexity is a 5-star tool!

2028-06-24

I am just loving this app - not only is it efficient and answers most questions accurately, it’s free too!
I was stuck with an issue where I was not able to import a snowflake library in Python, only this app helped me pinpoint the issue (I had already tried other popular tools like ChatGPT, bard and Claude but not got the correct answer)

Wow, cool

2028-07-25

The more abstract the question the fuzzier the results get, but Perplexity has been masterful at being able to suss out info on websites; especially “fine print” details which are nefariously hard to find or details like luggage weight limits for specific airlines. It also helped with financial equations in a fraction of the time it would have taken for me to figure out.

Great research tool

2028-08-26

This has become my number 1 tool for doing any research. When I have a question, it’s like having an assistant who will “google” it and then sift through all the results and give me the correct answer every time, along with the sources. This is the kind of tool that really highlights the potential of AI for improving our day-to-day lives.

Search with Integrity

2028-09-26

The best part of this app is the fact that you offer up the sources for the information that is returned.

The second best part is that you offer up very logical extensions of the initial question.

this app is what we’ve all wanted from Google but never got…because they became too self-interested instead of being interested in serving their customers.

Excellent start to implementing chat into one’s browser

2028-10-28

I think this is an excellent implementation of the chat feature into the browser specifically for search purposes. I’m really impressed with the fact the sources are noted! I find it much more credible as a used case versus Microsoft implementation of chat GPT into Bing. I look forward to seeing where this goes.

Kudos to the developers this far… I appreciate your efforts.

Best Co-Pilot Search

2028-11-29

While OpenAI is a platform company (so their chat features is forever in what feels like 'demo mode') and Microsoft Bing is a search company (adhereing to constraints that fit their goals) this app appears to be a product company that is focused on a maximal search-assistant experience while staying out of the way. Happy with the free tier, I do wish they had a 'mid-tier' offering at half the pro price, would become a paid customer instantly.

Perfect except missing a couple of things

2028-12-30

Multimodal input including voice and voice output using an AI generated voice of our choice. This would be perfect! Any chance of an API where we can tinker with? As a smart bot this app has been fairly accurate and most answers are reliably sourced otherwise and I hope you devs continue to improve Perplexity

Oh and have an easy to remember name. this app is good but not easy to type!

Truly astounding

2029-01-31

I do a lot of research for medicine and this helps me out a ton when I need to look something up in between patients. It is flexible enough to allow for as much or as little information as you may need. Not so much a complaint, but Perplexity still has elements to catch up with the web service. Overall, really amazing stuff; definitely worth the subscription fee.

Great app but microphone needs worked on

2029-03-03

I am a voiceover user, and I am running this on iOS 16.5.1. I can go to the TextField and use the dictation button on the keyboard were necessary. However, I noticed that when trying to use the microphone, voiceover, freezes. In order to get voiceover back, I have to exit Perplexity , then turn, voiceover off, then turn voiceover back on. I also have to close Perplexity in the process. I’m hoping that the microphone issue will be fixed soon. I actually heard about Perplexity through an Apple podcast.

This is the best blend of AI and web searching

2029-03-25

I use Perplexity daily. I can’t believe it is free and how easy and simple it is to use. It gives great results that you can verify with the source links it provides. It’s given me thorough answers about my son’s disability, about video games, and basketball scores. Thank you for this gem!

This app makes the internet surfing fun again

2029-05-10

Remember (or ever heard about) long ago when people used to just surf the web and learn new things? That’s what Perplexity allows you to do again. It’s honestly pretty amazing.

And I can’t see this lasting forever so enjoy this style app while you can! It is a tremendous value.

You can google all your curiosities and let the AI virtual workers filter the results and deliver just the bullet points. Perplexity makes the web Ad and Distraction free. I find myself googling historical facts, IT questions and even some religious historical curiosities I’ve long had. It delivers it all and based on a minimum of 3 cited sources each time.

The sad part is that the web is not sustainable if the Average Joe starts using the internet like this. The modern web is built on ads. I almost wish there would be an option for an up charge where Perplexity maker gives a few pennies to the sources of each google result.

Please enjoy it while you can! It won’t last forever.

Awesome

2029-03-07

this app seems like it just stands in the middle of the AI war but never gets kicked around, keeps doing it’s thing and one day when the war is over will still be right where it has always doing everything other AI sources were fighting to to do, it’s excellent.

I barely use Google now

2029-04-08

I’ve been waiting for this. I rarely need in depth research, I just need quick answers. this app is the simplest, fastest and easiest to use AI powered research tool I’ve seen. I literally almost never use Google now. To make it even better, their mobile app makes it so easy.

The best internet connected AI

2029-05-07

When it comes to IAs connected to the internet this app is by far the best. It considers more results than others and the way it summarizes and arranges its answers are impressive, the only downside (at least at the moment) is that the copilot feature is note yet available.

Perplexity is everything Bing wants to be

2029-06-08

My only criticism is that it struggles to identify truly authoritative sources on more advanced questions like identifying the best examples of journey maps from big companies. For most stuff though it’s my go-to search for quick information available on the web.

Awesome app for quick search

2029-03-30

Love how concisely Perplexity answers my questions. I also like that I can share the links to answer threads with other people instead of screenshotting results. Up-to-date alternative to chat GPT.

Great iteration of AI

2029-05-01

I like Perplexity and it’s use cases, however could we have the ability to copy specific sentences from the out rather than the entire results? Thanks!

Clean UI, quick answers

2029-05-30

Perplexity works so well on both the phone and iPad with no distractions! It connects to the internet and provides updated information with references.

Super Clean Experience

2029-07-01

Love the search experience! This is the best AI/GPT powered search I’ve found so far! I really wish there were Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets available though! Shortcuts integration would be awesome as well!

Free, No Account, Sources, Related Questions??

2029-08-01

Dang this really is too good to be true. Everything you’d want for quick and way question asking. You can even search by voice.

I won’t renew my OpenAI subscription for GPT4 because of this.

Easy to use and get what I want

2029-09-02

With follow up feature, I can easily learn any new knowledge deeper and wider. The history keeps my personal questions, which reminds me what I learned before. Nice to have this talent search app.

Great administrative resource!

2029-10-03

I love how it condenses what I’m looking for. That it provides the option to follow up or fine tune. Lastly that it saves your searches so you can go back & retrieve past information.

Accurate and Brief

2029-11-04

I am extremely impressed by how this system accurately answers questions without any ads, and their answers are always up to date.

The future of search is here

2029-12-06

The future of search is here powered by GPT3 technology. You don’t have to look though many links to web pages anymore. Let the Ai do the work for you. Generative Ai is a game changer for the internet.

Goodbye GOOGLE Hello Perplexity!

2030-01-06

No more getting spun around the internet researching information that leads you to every where but where you wanna go. Ask a question receive and instant "right" answer followed up in a concise or detailed view listing. Bye bye Google, hello this app!!

info-junkies delight!

2030-02-07

I’m absolutely mind blown, head-over-heels in love with this app! Perplexity is a search engine on steroids - I can go down my various rabbit holes faster and deeper, all without a page full of “sponsored links” littering the results. Just an amazing piece of software - bravi to the developers!

Perfect

2030-03-10

First--Perplexity size is nice and small. I love this more than almost anything else 😂! I use this as my quick go-to AI chat for lighter questions and subjects. The response is lightning-fast and it saves all my threads. I can't ask for more! Just what I needed. I highly recommend.

Amazing search app

2030-04-11

I’ve been tired of having to use chrome or google app and seeing a bunch of links for anything I ask. Neither am I happy with chatgpt where I can’t trust what it says. Perplexity gives me the best of google and chatgpt with blazing speed and reliable to check what it says through its references. The voice search and ability to keep asking more is super fun! Well done!

Excellent!

2030-10-22

As with all AI tools, what you get depends on what you give (I guess that applies to life in general.)
Poor, non specific prompt input results in poor output.
Perplexity is superior once you determine exactly what you want from it. You can even enter a profile giving the ai an idea of your interests or field of research (just don't give away personal info.)
It will search customized for your profile needs. This way you don't have to contextualize your prompt each time.
I really, really, really like the references to its sources as well as the three suggestions at the end. This is useful if you want to broaden your search or explore a narrower, more detailed search.
And that's not even the Pro Upgrade!

Makes ChatGPT look clunky

2024-01-16

I rarely write reviews for applications. Only when they’re really good or really bad. In this case, this app is in the really good category. For the same price of ChatGPT+, you get access to 5 AI models… including ChatGPT! this app takes their application further with copilot running alongside these LLM APIs to dynamically interact with the data being processed by the AI model. Perplexity ’s method of responding to queries with responses that have, in most cases, web link references to cite the information being generated, makes the task of interacting with LLM query responses and, more importantly, verify the facts presented with references a breeze.

It is my Google

2024-04-12

I use this app AI like most others use Google: it is my main search engine. I’ll even use it in my profession in my domain expertise because I’m skeptical enough to know when it may be giving me wrong advice.

Where is it weak?
It occasionally gets stuff wrong. If you bother to remain skeptical and check its sources when you so intuit, you could verify that so it’s not a real problem.

Where is it strong?
Its AI-searched and -generated summary answer saves me so much time by not having to look through ten websites and not having to search within the webpage for the relevant information (buried under a dog pile of advertising).

Where am I apprehensive?
Like all gatekeepers to information, eventually someone with big pockets will pay this app to integrate its products and services favorably in the AI-answers…”pay to play.” When that happens, it will fall to 2 to 4 stars. Until then, it’s a real deal 5-star app.

This is my product of the year

2024-04-12

I've tried most of the innovations that have come from LLMs and without a doubt this app is the best. The reason no. 1 is the quality of its service; Copilot is certainly the best available way to search and use LLMs, it's rock solid, fast, and the most accurate. The collections make something of the custom GPTs by OpenAI, you get to use any famous high quality LLM and the most important thing, using a native and beautiful app. There is no product (not even OpenAI's chat apps) that are this well on web and this well on phone. Really the best

The best chatAI!

2024-03-29

The this app app is a fantastic tool for accessing up-to-date information with the help of AI. Its user-friendly interface and seamless experience make it stand out among other chatAI apps. Perplexity 's simple design, absence of ads, and quick response time make it a valuable resource for anyone seeking knowledge. Additionally, Perplexity provides sources for the information it presents, adding credibility to its answers. Overall, this app is a top-notch app that offers a wealth of information without any unnecessary clutter. I highly recommend it and give it a well-deserved 5-star rating!

Stellar app which functions the way you would hope it to

2024-03-29

Upon asking any question, it provides a consolidated answer and links to indicate where the server did its research. It also offers smart follow up questions. It answers whatever you ask coherently and is editorially short and succinct. I haven’t used it enough to know more, but I will persevere.

Bottom line is, it’s far more useful and time optimal to provide one detailed answer, than to use google to hatchet together your own. That alone is a pure win.

Family, friendly, and great for educators

2024-03-29

I use this simple AI app for everything from finding the answers to random questions or creating fun trivia games. I find directions to games, creative activities, recipes, crafts, or just to find out interesting information because I’m curious like that! I use this in my classroom and with my kids. We use it in the car and doctors offices and sometimes around the table to generate a family conversation. Helps get the brain cells Poppin and makes our minds more curious. I can’t recommend this enough.

Easy to understand

2024-03-26

this app makes understanding complicated ideas, thoughts or activities easy. It is like they filter search engine results and then translate that into easy to understand information. They also give you links if you want to know more. I am under the impression that they do not favor anyone, but use all the info available to give you a very balanced easy to understand explanation. I have stopped using other Search engines/software as this app is much better.

Just as Kim Komando says!

2024-02-02

I’ve learned a lot from Kim Komando over the years. The lady’s on top of her game when it comes to tech and she’s earned my trust. Her praise of this app in her 6th January 2024
newsletter hits a high note she doesn’t reach for casually, so I installed Perplexity on iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 17.2.1, and my first few experiments have justified what sound like extravagant claims. I’m using the free version but I know I’ll subscribe soon.
Thanks, developers and K.K.
Stuart Gardner

Amazing a fantastic way to search and find articles and information

2024-02-02

This is such a great search engine what much more than that it gives you detailed information without going through all these different websites it’s up-to-date. It’s very easy to use. I love to look to layout I believe this is the way of the future. Google you better look behind your shoulders.

Amazing

2024-02-02

I never, EVER rate things. But Perplexity changed my life for the better. It searches like 25 sources, summarizes perfectly, and gives you the sources. You can ask anything under the sun, from those weird questions that just pop into your brain, or even nuanced questions that you need to figure out at work. I love it, and I happily pay for the premium version. Definitely give it a try.

Very natural interface!

2024-02-24

On average and ask about 30 to 40 questions a day. I use it for calorie tracking. Keeping my clients entertained. Finding free software. Searching multiple websites to find the cheapest items online. This really isn’t an oversell. This is just what it does very easily for me every day, and a heck of a lot more. I do not use anything else unless I’m trying to generate an image. You could step up your game in that department.

Unique and Useful

2024-02-14

I have just started using the this app app but have found it incredibly useful already. When I ask a specific question it not only gives me a detailed response but also provides references. It saves me the time and bother of poking around numerous websites for an answer, and it actually provides answers that I haven’t been able to find in my own.

Google Killer

2024-02-27

Because how great this tool is- I no longer use Google or anything else for web searches.
I have a ChatGPT account and have been comparing the two for a couple months and they are almost identical in their responses, but if the data needs to be current- this app wins. Especially when you use the Copilot option. The only advantage that ChatGPT has over this app is the custom GPT tools. If this app starts to offer that I’ll cancel my ChatGPT Plus and switch to this app Pro.
