Started off fun

So I will say when I first got this it seemed actually really fun. The trading, free agency and just general GM aspect is honestly really good. However the simming of the games and watching them genuinely is awful. Firstly so many penalties it’s actually absurd. There’s like multiple automatic first down penalties called every single drive whether it’s defensive holding, roughing the passer, unnecessary roughness, etc to the point it’s actually just annoying to watch. Second the decision making makes absolutely no sense. I had one game I was down 10 with 4 minutes left on the opponents 40 and my team punted?? Then the very next game I had a 4th and 17 at the opponents like 25 easily in FG range and my team decided to go for it, obviously not making it. Then later that game down 21-7 made it to 4th and goal at the 3 and they kicked a FG. Completely throwing the game. Just none of this makes sense at all

Edit: After continuing to play this game it gets worse and worse. I do not recommend playing unless lots of fixes are made. Penalties are still awful. And I’m like 99% sure your player overalls and team overalls genuinely don’t matter at all. I have played about 10 seasons built my team to an 89 overall the next highest is around 84. And my team consistently is losing to and sometimes getting blown out by absolutely awful 75 overall or less teams even lost one 31-5 against a 68 overall team

Penalties

This game is super fun and in depth, but the flags seem a bit excessive, my team is always getting them more than the other team no matter what, and they’re so frequent. I would just ask that in an update there is an option added to turn off penalties. I’m the setting center you can turn in and off so many different aspects of he game, just add a slider to turn on and off penalties and this game will be much better. I feel like I’m losing games on penalties, I end up losing by 1 or 3 points and I’ve lost like 100 yards on penalties. Please just add the ability to turn penalties off for those who want to.

Fun, addicting, frustrating

Amazing setup. Always loved playing franchise mode in Madden and this is the closest thing to it. One caveat from PGM2 - PGM3 is drafting. It’s one of my favorite aspects of GMing but it’s gotten so bad I stopped playing. I’ll allocate huge recourses to scouts, but 99.9% of the time they draft busts. Numerous franchises and decades of play with the best scouts and I’ve never drafted anyone above an 80. Meanwhile other teams are drafting “C” players that turn out to be rated in the 90s. Very frustrating. I understand (and like) that there’s an element of chance, but some of the algorithms seem truly random (or stacked against you). I’ve had bad teams go to the championship and super talented teams win 2 games. It feels more like gambling than actual strategy. Which can get old.

Close to perfect

I spent hours on this game, it’s definitely one of my favorite apps in a long time. Fun to build rosters and managing cap space. There’s just a few things I’d love to be worked on. A more in depth scouting/drafting because in hard mode it’s just looking at combine stats and guessing. Also managing team morale I think would be cool, dealing with their individual personalities, and doing more with the news section. Lastly just more customization options and being able to be female. Anyways great game, I’m hoping for future success.

Draft diversity

Is there anyway we can fix the draft "lack of diverse positions"? Seems like no matter how I structure the game, all I ever get are WR, RB, and CB. Sure you get some of the other positions, but OLB, MLB, OT, OG, and DE almost never show up as much as the previous mentioned ones. It would be amazing if some years the draft was QB heavy, or OT heavy, or just anything besides all of the WR and RBs. When the best available is a position your already 10 deep at, all you can do is draft and then trade them.

Keeps Getting Better

Love this game. It keeps getting better, because the developer clearly cares and responds to suggested/desired features - quickly. Very impressive.

Some basics are still missing. Uniform/color pallet editing. Some teams don’t have the right color pallet - ATL jumps out. Primary color is black, not red. Also, I struggle with the brightness of too much red or orange in the headers for some of these teams. Might be a personal preference issue. The darker color headers are definitely easier on the eyes - accented by a pop of bright color.

*Almost* perfect

First and foremost, let me say this is one of my all-time favorite mobile games, and by FAR the best gm game I’ve ever had on my phone. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars (though it’s more like 4.5) is because it lacks one thing that I feel is essential to a gm game: a position editor. The ability to move a corner to safety or DE to DT, guard to center, etc, can greatly affect how you build a team, and what your able to do… maybe exploiting a strength in a corner that works better at the safety position in your scheme, or you drafted a really good guard who could actually start at center even if he took a slight ratings hit. Whatever the case, being able to edit positions is a must-have and this is the only big improvement I can possibly think of to add to this already impressive and addicting game.

Literally one issue

I’ve always loved this game and I just came back to it recently ( on hard not sure if it affects the issue) I love most of the changes they made except now when I’m negotiating with a player I can literally make 2 offers then it’s done I can no longer negotiate I can only resign the player if I have my staff do it? I feel like this must be a bug because of how annoying and pointless it is but if it’s a feature I really hope they revert it to how it was maybe instead of only allowing 2 offers give the player a chance to increase his demand after a bad offer? The change genuinely makes the off season significantly more excruciating and annoying for what should be the most important part of the game. Still love the game! just hope they change that horrendous feature

Love the game but can you add little stuff

Most football games do it wrong but here we have a game on the right path player progression, coach progression and teams even go up and down based on how you do in a season. Management of your coaches and rosters is simple even trading is simple. Most games if you start with a crappy team it takes decades to get decent but here there is no penalty focusing on one area and building outwards. I gave it 5 stars due to the simple fact of improvement from the last game

The only thing I request is a way to track division championship. Small but it shows who dominates your division also team legends and stats maybe retire numbers which adds flavor to games.

Game is alright.

This game is fun… until you start losing every game. My players get injured way too much and too fast… I have like a 80+ overall team and I’m losing to 60 overalls. It doesn’t make sense takes away from the game when I go in and I’m losing every week. How is that fun? We aren’t giving anything to upgrade players, you can’t control your Def or Off game plans. Other football manager games allow you to do those things, go in and look at your opponents game plan then build off that but we aren’t given that option. It’s unfortunate.

Overall, the game is decent just needs to be fixed.

Overly difficult

I’ve played pocket GM 21 and 22 and had nothing but fun with them. Now I can’t even get a team to the playoffs in consecutive years without getting fired as the GM. Even on easy mode where scouting is supposed to be accurate I have plenty of busts as picks and can’t ever find decent coaches that synergize. There’s also a drastic lack of players to sign in the first year so that year always feels like a wash. That on top of the lack of LBs while there’s always a glut of WR and RBs to sign even in the low to mid 70s. This game is frustrating and if I could get my $2 back I would.

Absolutely great game

Love this game. I’ve been playing since PGM2. I’m currently in year 2102 on my current save. Only thing I really think needs improvement would be the scouting. It’s really hard to build a dynasty due to the scouting. I’ve had great scouts that rated several players highly that I drafted and ended up getting terrible ratings. I’d love to see multiple position scouts as well. In example, head scout specialty would be entire o-line instead of specifically C,OG, or OT. Or specialize in receiving or blocking WR and TE. Same for defense. I’ve had great success playing on Hard as I’ve won 23 championships with a score of 1,744. I’ve done so mostly by managing contracts to creat cap space, and sign highly rated veteran players, then switching teams to one looking for a rebuild and repeating the process. I’ve won a championship with 11/32 franchises. Will be looking to build a dynasty soon to try and change the dynamic, but is hard to do so with poor scouts.

Love the Game, but frustrating not getting feedback

Great game! I’ve been playing for years off and on. I love the whole experience, but sometimes I create a highly rated team and despite that they lose. I would love a way to know what’s going wrong so it doesn’t feel so random. Maybe media commentators that can say stuff like, “this offensive system isn’t working” “this coach needs to be fired” and stuff like that, because it’s immensely frustrating losing with a good team and not even knowing what needs to change.

Incredibly worth it.

I will spare you the details of the game, the obvious time put into this game having never played the previous titles but searching for a game I can play with and have a long term league creating pretty much whatever experience you want is incredible. If you are looking for a fun football simulation to run your own team and try to become the best or experiment with editing your own players or others around the league PocketGM3 is just incredible. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great game

If you love rebuilding teams or any sort if franchise game mode, you will love this game. There are 2 things I wish would be improved; the draft and coach/coaching attributes. There are way to many skill players in the draft, and there are just a lot of the same position (which I know can happen). For coaching, if I switch my OC to have a bellcow RB instead of a committee, it still gives carries to every RB on my roster. Those are just 2 minor things, still a super fun game and worth the price.

I have been addicted to this game since the previous one a year ago. I am a huge fan of games where you can be a gm or coach and where I can control every aspect of a team. I am always on the lookout for new games like this but I can say for sure PGM3 is the ONLY game that satisfies all my needs. It is truly amazing, from the stats that never go away, the pure variety of results and the ever changing improvements Jon adds, this game is everything I can imagine and more. I have put countless hours into it because of how much I love it and it never gets old. I recommend it and show it to all my friends and am very excited whenever I do so. Overall, this game is the best iPhone game every created for me!!

Great game!

I enjoy playing sports simulation games. This is by far one of the best all around games I’ve played! The ONLY thing I can think of that could be added is more of a hands on style when not simming the games. For example PocketGM3 cfc (college football coach) lets the user pick whether a short, medium, or long pass should be called as well as inside or outside run call. Then a specific coverage can be called on defense. But overall an amazing game, most definitely worth 2 dollars!

The sim we need, the sim we deserve right now

This has been such a wonderful little series to get lost into and kill time for me at work, at home, or out and about. I follow the subreddit closely, the dev is super active, friendly, and responsive. And I know this game will only continue to get better and better with his hard work.

I only dream that one day he will release a basketball sim just like this one, and I can get lost in that as well. Looking forward to dark mode!

Some Great, Some Issues

The draft system, negotiating, and in-season stuff is very solid and fun. Most of the game is fantastic. The only thing I don’t enjoy is the coaching system. A lot of times you’ll get screwed if you don’t have your coaches on the same page which makes sense, but I think there should be some kind of mechanic where the head coach defers the schematic stuff to the coaches, that way you aren’t forced to hire 73 ovr coordinators when there are 99 ovr coordinators available for the right price. A couple of ideas: 1) there could be a new type of head coach, the “CEO” type 2) have some kind of agreeableness stat where a coach is more or less willing to change tendencies based on who his other coaches are 3) have the philosophies of the coaches be adaptable towards how the roster is constructed, at least to some degree. Love the game, keep making it great!

Incredible

I haven’t played this in a few months, so not sure what all updates I missed. But what I have played recently has been one of the most polished football management games yet. You can no longer beat the system by trading for low value super dev players. This on top of varying potential and contract upgrades, has made it great. For instance, it’s easy to sign staff to long term deals for cheap but its hard to cut them if you want to switch things up. Overall great job, look forward to future updates but game is complete IMO!
