A Great Game! But…

Retro Bowl College is a fun and addictive football game that is almost identical to the original Retro Bowl, but with a college football theme. The gameplay is simple but challenging, and the pixel art graphics are charming.

One of the things I love most about Retro Bowl College is the team customization options. You can choose your team's name, colors, and uniforms. You can also recruit players and manage your roster. This is a great feature for fans of college football, as it allows you to build your dream team.

Another thing I enjoy about Retro Bowl College is the sense of progression. As you win games, you earn money that can be used to upgrade your stadium, training facilities, and staff. You can also use money to recruit better players. This sense of progression helps to keep the game interesting and engaging.

However, there are a few things that Retro Bowl College could improve on. First, the game could use more variety in terms of gameplay. For example, it would be nice to be able to call custom plays or edit players' personal info. Additionally, the game could use custom sliders to allow players to adjust the difficulty level to their liking.

Overall, Retro Bowl College is a great game for fans of college football. It is simple to learn but challenging to master. The team customization options are excellent, and there is a good sense of progression. However, the game could improve by adding more variety to the gameplay and custom sliders.

Unpolished Copy and Paste

This game is a good concept but has not been executed in a good way. This is almost the same game as retro bowl but with the draft being replaced by recruiting, some new gimmicks like GPA, donations, conferences, different schedules, etc. But this is an unfinished product, many of the teams are unfinished uniform wise which takes away from the game and it lacks depth and any difference from retro bowl. The recruiting is basically the draft from retro bowl and isn’t anything new. Another thing is that you have to pay for premium again if you already had it in retro bowl. My advice: finish the uniforms and stadiums, link retro bowl and retro bowl college together so you don’t have to pay twice, and make it unique, fix the recruiting to be actual recurring (look at ncaa football 07 recruiting and implement something like that). Just make it unique and finished and it can become a good game.

Retro Bowl w/ College Skins Not a Bad Thing

I’ve only just started but so far, this is Retro Bowl’s solid gameplay with some college-esque tweaks.

The fact that they have 250 teams w/ all bowls, which are all customizable is impressive. Your recruiting budget is tied to performance and how many players make the draft which is a nice wrinkle but I wish there was some type of weekly or season long recruiting/scouting system to make it stand out more especially when there are other CFB coaching sims out there.

This has the same on-field gameplay as Retro Bowl which is very solid. If you’ve mastered RB’s gameplay , this will all come second nature here. Would have been nice to incorporate a new system for the option to differentiate it from the pro counterpart but it’s as airtight as ever.

This is a solid game and well worth the .99 for the pro version but it would be nice to have more college elements spread across the game rather than tweaks to the last game. Hopefully there will be updates on this front.

Amazing

I absolutely love this game, I loved the regular retro bowl, but I think I like this one more. I know it’s new and I have a couple of complaints, but it’s still 5 stars. First off, I ordered the premium for the 12 man roster but whenever I go into roster it still only lets me have 10 players, also, there’s no CFP, I was ranked #3 and I only got a bowl game, and you still can’t change teams, I wanted to start in a division 2 school and work my way up, not just staying with them

Retro bowl with a new coat of paint

This game is fun as it has the core mechanics of retro bowl but in its current state it just feels like retro bowl with very little things changed, however I do think this game still has potential. What I would change:
Add recruiting, perhaps the most important aspect of college football but it isn’t in this game

Bigger rosters, it just doesn’t make sense to be limited to a ten or 12 man roster in a college setting perhaps raising roster size to 20 and 25 for premium would be a good idea. With this idea it is also important that bench players gain XP.

Redshirting, in addition to recruiting this is another large part of CFB missing. Redshirting could double player development for that year while they are on the bench.

Play calling, would be simple to add and would add a lot to the gameplay

Option runs, a staple of college football offense and it is clear that it needs to be in the game In conclusion this game just isn’t fresh enough and plays almost the exact same as retro bowl

One big change needed asap

First of all, I love this game so I will give it the 5/5 it deserves. However, there is one thing that could instantly make this game even better: just remove all of the GPA stuff. I don’t like having to bench my players for several games out of the season. We want to play with the players that we recruit. The GPA thing needs to be fixed, or better yet, removed completely.

By

Great But needs some work with school colors

I downloaded the game about a day or two ago and I have to say, it’s just as good as the original game. But, the one thing that I think should be fixed are the colors for teams. The colors are good for most teams, but some teams have just random colors instead of their actual colors. For instance, Pitt which is normally yellow and blue was yellow and pink for some reason. If they fix that part of the game, I think that this game would be amazing.

My Little CFB Lovin’ Heart is HAPPY!!!

I LOVE football. I work in football, I play (terribly), and I consume as much football-related material as I can. Let me just say, I’m soooo in love with RetroBowlCollege. If you don’t want to spend real money in a game but still be able to really enjoy it, this is a great one to have and it’s just so nostalgic — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to the creators once again!

Good could be better

Overall good game it’s not just retro bowl with a different name. I like how the recruiting works it’s very smart the added music when you score a touchdown is a great touch my only problem is the team colors are a little weird for instance Colorados helmets are yellow not gold which doesn’t make sense to me since you can make gold helmets in retro bowl is this because they want us to pay for the unlimited? Or is it because it just realeased? Over good game

By

Feels like a Ctrl + C Of Original

I understand the game just came out but come on. It feels and plays exactly like retro Bowl. Recruiting is mid and is just the nfl draft but without rounds. It should be more like NCAA Football 13 or 14. And the abbreviations when looking at the playoff bracket is not very good for example what team do you think this is. TUL. If you guessed Tulane you would be wrong but if you guessed Tulsa you would be correct. Other than these issues 8/10

By

Pretty good, one minor issue

I just got the game and seems pretty similar to the older version. I really like all of the extra detail and “world building” that went into this one. My biggest complaint, I’ve noticed a ton of time where the game just freezes for a second when doing certain actions. This has happened a lot already and I haven’t had the game that long. Very good otherwise though.

By

GPA

This game better than the original, but all my players are stupid. The gpa system is so annoying. They don’t learn by themselves you have to bench so they can learn. Most of my players are suspended because of this. They should keep this system, but have player traits to determine their grades. And have them occasionally slip behind on grades and then you bench them after that.

By

Could have been perfect

Yes everything else is spotless but there’s 1 little problem and that’s the rankings. Right now I’m undefeated, but the team ahead of me has 1 loss and that’s to me. Crazy but it doesn't end there. The number 1 seed is a 2 loss team while the 2,3,4,5,6 are 1 loss or undefeated please fix this so we can enjoy a perfect game thank you so much for making this game to

By

If you loved Retro Bowl…

Then you’ll love this! Even deeper of a sim. A few minor features are missing on launch (being able to sim games) but there’s nothing to complain about. So many new features far outweigh things like that. 10 out of 10.

By

Must Play

I have always loved retro style games and am a huge proponent for Retro Bowl. The only notes I have for the college edition is the ability to turn off replays during games would be nice and if someone purchases the unlimited version then I don’t think advertisements for other retro games should pop up while at the menu. Other than those things. I LOVE THIS GAME!

By

Amazing but lacking

it’s a really fun game and i love that they added a whole bunch of colleges but what i dislike is the jersey selection for them. they made some of the jerseys completely wrong and other are just awfully effortlessly put together i hope to have a update soon that deals with that uniforms it’ll take so long for me myself to go and custom make every uniform.

By

Good but inaccurate

Although this is a great college football game. It felt a little bit rushed, for example alt 1 and 2 jerseys were the same for most of the teams, and the other jerseys felt to bright or had the wrong colors. The conferences and divisions are inaccurate as to the actual college football. I really like this game just needs more fixing with the colors.

By

It’s good but…

First off: its inaccurate, players spike after TDs which is a foul in college but the PATs are also on the 10 still which makes sense so games are more competitive.
Secondly: features like exhibiton games and simulating games is gone. I really loved simulating games
Lastly: is it hard to tell teams vs the real thing but I don’t blame you Beacuse of copyright and all that.

Anyways there are a lot of positive things but these are just my negitve thoughts.

By

Great game some bugs

Great game had some bugs over I really like it. I got the premium thing but unfortunately the 12 man roster won’t work I don’t know if it’s just me but it’s making me be stuck at a 10 min roster but it’s very clever, and covers a lot of college football, which is very hard to do but a very fun game. I recommend it to everyone.

By

Great but a MAJOR ISSUE…

Very excited about this release! I love Retro Bowl & have been playing it for awhile & this college release has been AWESOME….

But…

There seems to be an issue with the roster going to 12. I purchased the unlimited and changed my roster to 12 but it remained on 10. I thought I might have to play a season first so I did and it’s still on 10 even though I have my settings on 12 man roster. I also adjust the weather to random and every single game was sunny. So it seems there might be a glitch where it’s not recognizing the change in settings.

Other than that love it and look forward to wasting many hours playing this!

By

Great game but a few critiques

I consider this game better than the origional retro bowl, however, there are three things that i eould love to see added in the near future. Sim game option, abilities, and a more relaxed GPA system, first of all i think that sim game should come back from the original retro bowl,However, i would like to see a new adition called an Ability, basically something special about the player ranging from valedictorian that makes it easy for them to keep their gpa up to cheetah that increases their speed stat past the normal threshold. This is an ambitious ask but i feel that would let this game take a major leap and intrest people who got bored of the original retro bowl to trysomething new. My 3rd and final ask is a relaxed GPA system, it seems like all my star players need to be benched every other game just so they won’t be suspended. Those are some ideas goodbye devs of NewStar.

By

GREAT GAME but I have a recommendation

Retro Bowl College is a GREAT idea and I love the concept behind it. One thing I’d like for the game to change is for recruiting, I’d rather it be bid offers where you could possibly do different things for an interest rate or something. Instead of it just being instant if you hit “recruit”. I’d also change if your a lower school team, it’ll be a lot harder for you to land 4/5 star players if the team doesn’t have good reputation or isn’t a Major school team. I LOVE this game tho and I’m glad it’s finally out!

By

Awesome game, but needs some fixes/improvements

So, like many on this one, came from the NCAA 14 Revamped community. It’s GREAT. Completely worth downloading and buying if you choose to. The game play is easy to learn, the features are good for what I’d expect in a mobile game. And it fits the retro football aspect like it’s other versions.

Great: game play, teams, features, college feel.

Suggestions: the biggest thing that frustrates me so far is as you get hired by a new team, you don’t get that new teams “ratings”. You have to start completely over in your upgrades, which seems dumb if you are getting a “promotion”. Went from a good b12 team that was top 10 2 years in a row, to defending champ Georgia that was top rated offense/defense and upgrades. When i joined, i was disappointed to see 2* offense/defense and minimum program upgrades. It makes you not want to move schools essentially because you have to start over.

Also, the recruiting is more of just “free agency” than recruiting. I think recruiting needs to be redone to actually do some recruiting. Follow same style as other things where you have to make decisions that affect your team, but it does it for your recruits.

The pay to recruit is rough cause any good player is going to take up most of your budget. Pretty odd system

By

Awesome, but literally only one problem.

So this is a great game. The cheerleaders and band are a cool touch, and it’s even better than retro bowl in some ways. My only problem is that I don’t want to by unlimited again. I bought in in regular retro bowl, so maybe it’s just me but I think it’d be great if u could link rb and rb c so that u only have to buy unlimited once. But I also want to be able to pick whatever college I want to at the beginning of a save, just like in regular rb. Other than that, great job, this is a really cool game.

Retro Bowl College Update Ideas

I love this game and am addicted to it already! But can you please add the rest of the jerseys for teams because the alternates are mostly the same with some teams having the same. #2 fix the jerseys for Minnesota, I feel like I am playing for USC with Minnesota and I saw a different school that has jerseys that look like there’s! Now finally please fix the bug where when you tap around the menu it takes a little. Thank you

Playing RB Since Day 1

I have been a retro bowl fan since January of 2020, I was an OG and I knew about the games existence before anyone else did.

After seeing how popular this game has become throughout the past 3 (almost 4) years, I want to say congratulations with all the success, and thank you for giving us a FANTASTIC college version of this game. The amount of depth in both RB and this is unbelievably impressive and it still has that good ol’ 1987 charm.

(PS, SMU2ACC!)

By

A few in game issues but otherwise amazing

One thing I think could use work is the inclusion of some sort of prestige for each team which affects your ability to sign good players. So bad teams stay bad longer and good teams stay good like in real cfb. I think they had a system like this in ncaa14. Also the major and minor divisions correlate with the players major and minor so if you change the division names than the players academic majors and minor titles change too.

By

G.P.A.

I love all the Retro games. This one feels like a cross between Retro Bowl and Retro Goal. This one however has an annoying flaw. If our players can’t keep their GPA up they’re suspended. The problem is that there aren’t enough FREE chances to boost their scores. Sometimes in BYE weeks you get that option. Bench them so they can study? Pffft. I’m not spending my Coach Credits on their scores. I’ll just turn Retro Bowl back on and continue playing with the pros.

By

Conference 12

First off, I really like this game. It has the same feel as regular retro bowl while being like the college game. However, there are a few annoying things. Maybe I’m just unlucky, but it seems impossible to get any offers from a conference 12 team when starting a save. Also, many teams have very inaccurate colors, with a lot of schools using orange instead of red or yellow.

By

Very good but one issue

Overall I think the game is perfect, however I have a few issues, I do wish some more routes/plays were added because it still feels a little basic and most of the team colors aren’t right, Indiana has orange and white instead of Red and white as well as Iowa, so the only issue I have is some of the School’s colors not being correct, but great game!

By

A few more things needed

I got this game just yesterday and I love it. It would be better with an exhibition mode and the ability to sim games, which might come in the future hopefully. One thing that needs to go is the gpa thing cause we can’t rly control what happens, it’s a video game. Other than that this game is amazing

By

Love at first sight.

This game is simply amazing! Having to manage all the intricacies that go along with a college football program is awesome. My only gripe is with the uniforms, some of them are so far off of what they are suppose to look like. A simple matter easily resolved with unlimited but it would have been nice to not have to spend the time on it. Can’t wait to get the restart screen so I can start using this game for my league play.

By

Good game but needs improvements

Good game overall but needs exhibition, needs to remove gpa needs to add a feature how much Time you practice that week and how they study that week (nobody wants to suspend their players or cut them because they can’t get their GPA up), sim game was a really good feature in the last game - bring that back, and they could add a road to glory system where you could only control the qb and make tough decisions leading with your career. Overall good game but needs some improvements

By

Needs to be more like the current college game

Love the OG retro bowl and have customized it as a college game for awhile now. So I was super excited for an actual college version to play but have found this one a little disappointing. First off, the gpa is weird as a lot of people have commented on so it needs to be changed where you don’t have to bench your players every other week. Once or twice a season seems more accurate. Second, where is the transfer portal and NIL? These are huge parts of the current game and could be easily modulated from the pro versions free agency and salary cap. New star needs to research this and add it here. It would be a nice wrinkle to have to match NIL offers from other schools between seasons.
Third, why can’t you start at the school of your choice? I like the work your way up approach but also might like to pick my team for a different game just for fun. I want to be able to do both. RB is escapist entertainment and sometimes I want to escape by working my way through the ranks and sometimes by dominating with my fave team. Give both options.
Finally, I don’t understand why certain parts of the game aren’t included. If you have kick returns why not punt returns? Kickers but not punters? Let us play defense! And actually see our defensive players we recruit in action! Let us have more players! 12 is not enough.
Overall RB is the best sports game app hands down and my fave. Keep working to make it even better.

Needs to be fixed and added!

This game is honestly better then the Nfl version in many ways, but on here you cant play more then 2 full seasons and it gives you a error page and makes u leave the game thats my biggest issue with it, there is some stuff that could be added, like make it so its more then 50k to start with especially without premium, make it so u can see how old they really are bc i mean u could be a freshman in college at the age of 24 u never know honestly,

Could you guys pls link the 2 games together so we dont have to buy premium again bc they are almost the same game, make it so we can like see out old college players even if hes been drafted to the Nfl, like let us see his Nfl stats year by year, let us scot high school players and u should honestly make extreme a bit harder because now its boring and easy, thank u guys so much for these fun games.

By

Love the game!

I am a huge fan of the original retro bowl and this game is no different. If I could suggest 2 or 3 tweaks though. I don’t know if it’s possible but possibly a way to redshirt a freshman would be nice. Also if the team jerseys could be completed and made more accurate it would fix my OCD when selecting the team jerseys. Finally the thing I have more of an issue with is after a game, having to almost exclusively discipline 2 or 3 players makes it very hard to keep the moral up. I like the feature and I think it makes it more authentic to a college team, but maybe just dial it back a bit, or give an option to resolve instead of just discipline or ignore. Those things being said, I still love the game and I really like the differences implemented to make it stand out from the original game!

Almost unplayable as a dynasty

This game doesn't hold a candle to the pro Retro Bowl, for one reason: Recruiting and roster building is absolutely broken. There aren't enough ways to raise scholarship dollars, and the prices of players are too high... so you can't possibly build a balanced team. You either end up with one side of the ball being much better than the other, or you only have 5 or 6 players. The game also screws you when you take a new job. I moved up to the Ohio S. job. In real life it's one of the 5-10 best jobs in college football. The team was pretty well rated on the job selection screen. After I took the job, suddenly they were a disaster. I only had four players, with no QB... and somehow all the players who left only gave me $17K in scholarship money... and all the recruitable QBs cost more than that. So I'm supposed to play an entire season (and maybe longer) without a QB? That would never, ever happen. Especially not at a top school. This game needs a lot of work.

By

4 stars, but only for now

First off I want to say this game is very fun and very unique and you get to be one of the greatest coaches ever at your favorite college. The one reason why I didn’t get five stars is because I want to be able to edit the teams, but not says I can’t access the store because I need to be connected to internet. I am already connected to internet and it still won’t work. I tried restarting and deleting RetroBowlCollege over and over to be able to get it. Nothing will work, all I need is some feedback on what to do to help this. Is it IOS updates or is it something else because people that I know were able to access the shop just fine.

By

Great game to freshen up some retro football! But…

This game is would say is definitely better than Retro Bowl. Even though I still like the original, this college edition is much more complex with rankings, and playoffs. However I have been playing this game for the past few days and I just finished a season and then closed out of the game. Before I closed out was the picture of my team showing that I won conference. Once I went back into RetroBowlCollege , that particular game would not load and said there was an error and closed out RetroBowlCollege . I would like to now out the developers could somehow fix this since I was starting to become committed to that save. So if you ca n look at this problem.. that would be great. Thanks.

By

Love this game!

This game is fantastic. I play this game everyday and I can’t get enough of it. Although, the game is great I would make a couple changes.
The GPA on players seems like it goes down way too fast. I have to bench some of my best players every like 3 weeks so they don’t get suspended. I even recruit players with higher GPA’s even if they aren’t as good as the top recruits.
Another change I would make is the recruiting system. I feel like it’s too easy to get the top players of the class. I think it needs to be harder to recruit them especially if your record was bad last season or something like that. Players should be able to reject your offer.
Other than that it’s the best game ever!

By

Great but a few problems

This game is honestly fun and fun to the point where just like in retro bowl I spent 99 cents for the other stuff and I don’t regret it. But there’s a few problems. I feel like you should add a little more things because sometimes it feels like I’m playing regular retro bowl but that isn’t the real problem. For some reason after I had a winning season and I became champion my game just crashed and now that save file won’t load and it’s stuck in an infinite loading loop. Please if you can find a way pls fix this and thank you.

By

An Amazing Sequel

I’ve loved Retro Bowl ever since I discovered it a few years ago. I’ve been watching the different content made and playing the game myself. But at certain points I’ve gotten a bit bored of the repetitive grind of Retro Bowl. This game reinstated that love. The new complexity of managing a college team is a nice refresher and I love the ways they make everything work. Gameplay is the same but it feels good not to see the same teams every game. Sure, it would be nice for their to be players on the other team (Their named and have stats like are players). But this is a great refresher and an amazing game.

By

Freezes

I have played retro bowl for a while and was excited for this one, but after i completed my first season as a minor team, whenever i tapped on my coach the game would freeze and i would have to exit and go back in. Same thing also happened with the yearbook tab. I didn't care too much since I didn't absolutely need those tabs, but then it froze when it showed my teams portrait after the conference win. Whenever i try loading the save, the game just gets stuck on "loading".

I also had Retro Bowl Unlimited and it's a shame to see that it doesn't carry into this as well.

By

Lots of potential

I’m probably biased seeing as i had a Retro Bowl save with all college teams, but this game is phenomenal. all of the things i wish could be added are little things that’d make it fantastic, but are far from shiny. The only two big things i wish are that all the uniforms get updated, which will take time and might not be a problem for me soon with premium, and that some of the menu stuff is faster. besides that, I think it’d be cool to have a Gameday or Lee Corso reminiscent thing, a student section, neutral sight games, [color]-out games, etc.

By

Best game!

New star is very nice company and I would totally recommend RB College over the the original RB. It has so many teams to choose from and you can always find a good team to start with. Most of the good teams though, you usually can’t start with you have to play a season with another team which I actually like better that the original RB. The rules for college in the game sort if differ so like some college rules are in it but some aren’t which I think could be tweaked a bit, but this game is awesome!

By

Game stops working after you make it to the national title game

I’ve played on two different accounts now. Both end with the same outcome, after I win the semi final game to make it to the national title game I end up stuck on a loading screen that never ends. Not sure if this is a bug or what but it won’t even let me on to that account, like the account can never be opened again. Other than that this is an amazing game and I would be playing this 24/7 if I didn’t have the issue that I’m having.

By

Retro Bowl College Team Colors

I just downloaded the game an hour ago and took over Colorado and I was switching between the conferences and teams and none of the jerseys match the real time colors. Is that something that will be patched and done? The game is awesome so far, I love the concept and idea. It’s cool, on the OG retro bowl I made all the college teams and their matching jerseys and everything, so it’s cool to see RB College now! Just wish the jerseys and colors matched the current teams, going through and doing it takes forever.

By

Great development from the team

I love the take on the college side of football, I love how much more dynamic the team management is with conferences, freshmen prospects, and the draft. You can expect to have the same great gameplay as the original with more features. However, the GPA system has to get revamped. It feels impossible to keep my players GPA up other than with coaching credits but then I can’t use them for my facilities. I’ve seen many other people having the same experience so dev team please look into this!

By

Awkward mechanics in the game

First off I love this game I have always liked cfb better than the nfl but have been disappointed in just a few aspects. First off I like how the game doesn’t let you pick the specific team and have you build up to get that offer, I have been an Ohio State fan for my whole life and the fact that I have to build up was kinda interesting but way too time consuming as it took me 9 straight seasons of winning the major to get me that offer. Second I think gpa was an interesting twist but I got my players gpa from a 1 to a 3 using coaching credits in the meeting and he still is benched? Finally I think it’s interesting how its much more difficult to become ridiculously overpowered because you 5 star players wont reach their potential by the time they’re out of college. I also think its weird how some jerseys are completely inaccurate since the teams don’t violate copy right, why was this not an issue in the original game, if you don’t know what I am talking about for example university of Illinois’ uniform is purple and yellow instead of the navy and orange, the indiana hoosiers are also like a texas orange instead of the dark red

By

Near perfect

The game is such a fun sequel to the original retro bowl, but there are just enough differences to make it a noticeably different experience. I think more players leaving during their Junior Years could be an interesting addition, as well as the installation of a transfer portal feature. The in-game sprite comparison between the original RB and RBC seems extremely odd- I took screenshots of my Colorado QB from RBC when he’s throwing and my custom team’s QB from RB when he’s throwing and the difference is very noticeable. The Retrobowl in-game sprites look more built and full, while the college sprites look like they’re starving. The college qb’s arm is one pixel thick! I’d love to see a mix of the sprites in the college game- maybe have the star players have the original sprite? I’m no game developer.

Another complaint is a stupid one, but when I see a college like Northern Iowa called NIU instead of UNI on the scoreboard just bugs me- same with Southern California not being called USC. I wish having the premium in the original retrobowl would transfer over to the college experience, but I could understand why it wouldn’t be.

I love this game but,

I love this game but, there are a couple major things missing, 1: A rivalry system, I know it may be complicated but if there could be something maybe in the team editor where you can assign a rival, and then the last week you play that rival should be a must in any college football game, 2: a transfer portal, I’m sure this is on the way but during the offseason you can select player that want to play for you with CC just like free agency, but only during the offseason, it’s not a necessary thing to add but it would be a great addition to give a team a boost, 3: finally, whenever player go to the draft and you over fill you scholarship fund I think it would be nice to receive some reward so what is for every 5k or 10k over the scholarship fund you go you get 1-2 CC to give incentives to have players declare early and give the player more chance to improve the facilities or raise the scholarship fund. Those are just some ideas I think would add a great deal to the game but still a great game, highly recommended to anyone

It’s Great But,

This game is overall very fun and addicting to play. I’ve recently had RetroBowlCollege for a week and have already played 5 seasons. Overall it’s a great but there are some key aspects missing. First of all, the transfer portal. This is a key part of the current college game. This would make it more fun because you would be able to switch teams and be able to bring them with you or instead of needing to get people who have never played you can get veteran qbs and rbs to help power your team and mentor the young players. Second, the GPA aspect of the game. I like the overall aspect of it but it is too difficult to get around. For example, you can be playing and after like 3 or 4 weeks your star player is done and potentially for the rest of the season. Also, you can spend credits on helping their GPA but many of us can’t spend credits every week trying to help players be eligible. Thank you for listening and hopefully you will help the Retro Bowl community make this game better and more fun for all of us. Overall, though the game is a very good game and very fun.

BEST GAME EVER But,

Retro Bowl College may be the best app I’ve ever downloaded. For College football fans, it doesn’t get better than this on mobile. It’s just like retro bowl but there are a few differences. First, seasons are 14 weeks, you get two bye weeks, and the playoff section of the season is a total 5 weeks long. The biggest difference is when people go to the NFL, they donate money back to your team, but they will not keep all the money. With the money you have left, you recruit players to your team. There is no salary cap. Another huge difference is you have to maintain your player’s gpas. If they drop below 1 or so, they can’t play unless it eventually goes up or you use coaching credits to make it go up. Overall, the game is insanely fun and very addicting. Every single college team including FCS schools are in the game. Some of the jerseys are off and some team names had to be changed for copyright purposes, but other wise, this is easily the best college football game I’ve ever downloaded on mobile. Maybe the best game ever.

A Must For College Football Fans

Let me just say I love College Football, and Retro Bowl is great, and Retro Bowl College builds on that legacy, but there are some problems. First off their are some uniforms that don’t match the teams at all like Florida, also there is a 2nd alternate uniform but it always just some placeholder for what could be there, and I know I could buy the unlimited version and customize but I really just don’t think it is fair to have someone buy that just to change a uniform. Another thing is that there is no transfer portal at all, and I think this game really needs that. My final thing is that I wish it would let you start as your favorite team, now someone else already said this but I like how you have to build your legacy, but at the same time I just want to play as my favorite team. In conclusion this is still a great Retro Bowl spinoff but there are things you can change, but the game has only been out for a week so I think everything I listed or some of it will come to the actual game.

Great game! But one problem…

My experience with this game has been AWESOME. But it also has been a little frustrating. The best parts of this game is that the developers put the time and effort to actually include gpa, majors, and hobby’s which I thought was awesome. Also they included about every school that has a football team, even the minor ones.

the one major problem though that I have had with this game is that half the time I don’t know what some teams are. Like for example LSU has just like the full name in and it’s not just LSU. So it takes time to go through and change very single team name to what they are exposed to be which I haven’t taken the time to do yet.

But besides that one problem this game is already one of my favorite games and I am only probably two hours in. I already like it more then retro bowl. Besides that one problem this is a five star game and I highly recommend that you buy it.

Great game but could be better

The original retro bowl was and still is an amazing game. As soon as I saw this game come out, I downloaded it immediately hoping for it to be identical to the original. However, when I got into the game I realized some major differences. First of all, there is no sim button which could help make the season go by faster instead of playing all 14 games. Second, there is no way to get players mid season. In real college football, players can transfer teams. This would be a major feature that could help season progression. Finally, the GPA system is a little bit weird. It keep all of your players in a game every week, you have to spend your credits to keep them in the game. I feel that you should only have to use your coins on a player once or twice every other season.

Overall, this is a great game and I am glad that it is finally out. Some things could be better but in the future this game will grow immaculately.

Possible improvements to RBC

Phenomenal game. I have no gripes about the game, however there are things to fix about it
1. A rivalry system. Rivalries are one of the biggest things in college football, and allowing each school to play their biggest rival at the end of the season should be a must-have for a college football game
2. Transfer Portal. Another more recent thing about college football is the transfer portal. It should also come to where the Scholarship fund is kept by the school for the Transfer Portal
3. Conference realignment. One of my biggest issues is the fact that conferences are rigid instead of modifiable. Along with Conference realignment, we should also have the ability to add or remove conferences
4. Modifiable formations. Similar to Retro Goal, where you can modify how your players are set up, I think it would be nice if we could incorporate different types of Formations as our basic formations, for example Singleback formation on offense and 3-4 formation on defense

By

Great BUT… can be better

First off, if New star games sees this,RBC is a great game. But I think it can be improved.

1.Rivals. I think a team should be able to select “rivals” such as Texas playing Oklahoma. This could be where you can select one (maybe more) teams to play every year during the last week of the season (rival week) like real college football.

2. Conference re-alignment. I think if you have the 99 cent customizable mode, you should be able to add, remove, and switch teams with conferences. If I am in the big 10, and want to add Noter dame to the all ready 14 members, or remove Rutgers from the big 10, I think I should be able to do that. I know I can change the name… but if my conference is stuck at 10 members, I can’t do anything about it if I want 11.

3. Customizable stadiums. It would be cool to change the playing field of a stadium. Such as adding text and text color to the end zones, yard number font, (and a 50 yrd team logo would be Awsome) that could be pre set letters or images like a bulldog or eagle or sutch)

4. College band. Every team has a college band. On big 3rd downs they should play “retro” versions of classic pep tunes like charge or bugle horn. Maybe a little tune for a first down and maybe even generic retro fight songs to pick from

Anyway, this is already a good game, but to make the game more like the real college experience, some of these ideas should make it into the game

It’s the best college football mobile game but

Overall this game is been VERY fun but there is some issues. First is the gpa, my star players have to be benched for 3 weeks at a time at least 2 or 3 times a year.
My biggest issue with the game overall is that I can’t change teams. In the original retro bowl, you would start with a bad team and once you won a championship, you would get tons of offers and after a couple championships you could go to any team in the entire league. In this game, they 8 FBS teams are the only teams you can play with. No matter how many champions I win, there is 0 offers. And it makes it less fun because there is no real motivation. The journey from Portland state to Georgia or Michigan is what would make this game elite.

If they add changing teams, change the gpa a little and maybe make a slight tweak to recruiting. (Michigan and big schools start with a 70k cap while Portland state starts with 35k)

Almost great game

I have played the original retro bowl for 2 years and I was excited that this came out because I wanted a college one. Before it came out I made my own college version in the original retro bowl and it took me at least a month and I got all the jerseys down I even looked up all the hex codes to make it perfect and I was expecting the college jersey to be right and their not for example, LSU is light purple and gold “very light”, Indiana has orange jerseys and blue jerseys, and auburn is blue and yellow? I could fix it on my own but that would only fix my problem and not other peoples. Secondly where’s the transfer portal or NIL? It would make it more fun and more interesting. You should be able to hire recruiters to go scout areas like south east, central, north and all that stuff. You should add new faces to the RB college and regular RB.

By

Seriously?

Ok, first I wanna start off by saying RB college is an amazing game and new star did a wonderful job. But I have one complaint, what the actual heck is up with the team colors? They are all so bland, (some teams not having a colored logo, strip on their pants, or sleeve) and I feel like new star is doing this literally so that your OCD has had enough and makes you buy premium to edit the colors because they are so annoying. I mean come on, Clemson Is orange white and purple, and they made it yellow white and royal blue. Come on new star, your better then that. Another thing is the fact that you have zero big games whatsoever before the playoffs. This makes getting into the playoffs itself way easier then it should be. Other then that, the game is awesome but I will be redesigning each and every Jersey color for each and every team to actually be somewhat realistic. (Doing your job for you)

By

Almost there!

I give five stars just because you did a college game. Here are some more ideas. When an FCS team plays an FBS team, the FCS team should automatically be downgraded as it is highly unlikely although it does happen that an FCS team does beat an FBS team. Prepare for conference realignment as the PAC 12 is about to disappear so customization is needed. Would be great if we could do that on our own. Making a schedule creator could be useful but just for the team you control. You should be able to start with the team you want to play instead of playing a different program then hope a job offer comes through. Need more spaces for team names. 12 college football playoff begins next year so that needs to be implemented. Overall loving the game! Thanks guys. I know you will make it even better.

Great But Could Be Improved

I would like to start off by saying this game is great in many aspects, however, some mechanics could be tweaked to make the user experience near perfect.
First, while having to manage the player's gpa, the only way to increase their gpa is by having to bench the player or use coaching credits. Even setting the training regime to low seemingly has no effect on improving player gpa.
Second, the random events in RB College are mostly, if not all, negative. In my own experience I think I only experienced 3 events that in fact boosted a specific players moral. Most of the time the random events cause either a loss in morale, or coaching credits.
I really hope that the developers tweak these mechanics because this game has so much more potential than where it is now. I would still recommend playing the original RB for now.

By

Great game! I also have some suggestions for the devs.

Ok first of A transfer portal which I know might be hard to make it would be sorta like the free agent portal in OG retro bowl. Second off please add rivals because well the only thing about it is that there would be some fun and challenging games. Third add a thing where if you know Oklahoma and Texas is joining the SEC in 2024 so if you have premium in team edit you can move teams to different divisions. Fourth add commitments because there should be commits in the early season so you know who is good that wants to be with you. Fifth add a thing if you have premium you can make the playoffs bigger example the FBS is expanding to a 12 team playoff next year so yeah. Well that’s all just if you see this reply and hopefully some of my ideas will be considered! Bye!

A bit rigged?

Great game and I recommend it highly. However, as you play on there is clearly an algorithm that works against the player. I have it on both the phone and ipad, so play two separate leagues and I play often (I travel a lot, so it’s a tidy little activity while the plane is boarding, etc). In two unrelated experiences the game is constantly penalizing me with negative issues, sometimes two at a time (curfew, skip studying, etc.). The game clearly wants me to pay for more credits to upgrade, increase GPA, increase happiness, etc. Similarly, the whole GPA path is basically a pay to play/win scheme, in this case, sort of literally. You essentially have to pay to play your players. Otherwise, they are often on the bench. In my lifetime I don’t know if I have ever heard of a star player actually benched for academic reasons, while if I didn’t pay for grades it would happen to almost every player every season. That’s a bit much. Injuries as well.

Finally, add a SIM button. All my offensive players are injured (another thing that has happened on iPhone/ipad at similar times), it would be good to sim the games without them.

This game is great but minor improvements would make it amazing

First of all, this game is great. But it lacks some big parts of realism on college football.

In-season recruiting-I cannot express how much this feature needs to be added. Due to having to cut a player mid season for partying and etc. I believe there should be a scouting/recruiting portal in the admin/facility page. In this portal, you will see seniors, maybe juniors in high school who have interest in your school. You can spend coaching credits to make them more interested into coming to your program. Once the interest level becomes full, the high school player will commit to your program. Even you don’t want to spend coaching credits, you should be able to scout players so you know what is coming from the freshman class of next year. For example, if my running back is a junior and wants to declare for the draft early, you can go to the recruiting portal and see if there is good running back prospect that you have scouted or players that are committed to you, if you indeed do have good running backs for next years freshman class, I would let them declare early. If not, then I would ask them to stay another year.

Also a helpful attribute to have would be the ability to sim games like in the original retro bowl.

Overall a great game, but I believe with a recruiting portal, things would get a whole lot better.

0 DOMINANT Teams?!… That’s Utterly RIDICULOUS!!!

In EVERY season that I’ve played?! ALL of The CFP Teams had At LEAST 3 but MOSTLY 4 losses. What kind of NCAA Football is that?! My 1st season at Vandy, I went 10-3 (losing only to UGA and Tenn). I was my division Runner-Up but EVERY CFP Team had a worse record than us. I had to settle for A Sugar (I think) Bowl appearance vs USC (we lost, in kind of a BlowOut; 45-28). I’ve purchased The Unlimited Version, 50 Coaching Credits and even 500 Coaching Credits because I play on “Dynamic” and I want to have A Competitive Edge. But I would like to see Power House Football Teams with Powerhouse records. UGA, BAMA or Ohio State SHOULDN’T finish 9-4 or 8-5 and be the top teams in their conference. That’s An OFF Year, for those teams. Oregon winning The PAC-12 at 8-5?! RIDICULOUS. Please, fix!!! Other than that?! GOOD Game. Change The UNREALISTIC PARITY and make The Powerhouse Teams actually POWERHOUSES?! That and adding A Transfer Portal?!… Will make “Retro College Bowl TOTALLY AWESOME!!!🙏🏽🔥🏈🎮💯

Great Game, small issues

First off, I love all of the “Retro” games you all have made. The depth of these simple mechanic games are incredible. I’ll probably never go back to the original Retro Bowl after playing this version. I don’t mind the GPA mechanic. It’s not hard to work around that. I never spent points in the original retro bowl on players so now I actually have to for GPA. I’d rather more focus go into how the rankings work each week.
For example I started at Vandy and I played Georgia week 7. Both undefeated me #14 and Georgia #1. I beat them and Georgia remained #1 the following week while I only climbed to #7. I’ve noticed lots of rankings are weird like a 3 loss bama team or Penn St. will still be top 5-6 and one loss teams will barely be in the top 10. I’d recommend applying some tweaks there. It really breaks the immersion of the game.
Also if a team doesn’t play in their conference championship at the end of the season it should hurt their ranking for the playoff. 3 loss bama shouldn’t be the #4 team in the playoff when they didn’t even play in their own conf championship.

Again, these are small issues and I love the game just ideas for how you could continue to tweak it.

Can’t pick College of youre choice - but why not?

I like this game. I also like the regular, Retro Bowl, which I played for years now. The main problem with the college Retro Bowl is that you’re unable to pick the college of your choice. When you first start playing the game, you can only choose from a limited number of low to your colleges. The question is, why? Why Is it structured this way? If the goal of the developers is to have the players work their way up, I get it. However, at some point, it’s simply ridiculous to prevent people from playing the college that they really like.

If the goal is to prevent everyone from picking, for example, Alabama, and winning every game every year, well, then make it harder …. The real fun and joy of playing a college football game is the colleges themselves. If you can’t play the college that you like, then this game is maddeningly frustrating. To put it bluntly, as structured, it serves no purpose.

To be clear now I have won multiple majors championships with multiple teams, including Nevada and Las Vegas – I won with Las Vegas two years in a row - Which should set me up as a pretty good player. However, most of the major college teams are still blacked out and I cannot pick them to play. Why? It serves NO purpose.

Great game with small things to fix

I’ve been a fan of the bowl games for as long as I can remember and the developers are usually pretty good at making adjustments. College football is definitely a bit harder to manage due to the huge amount of teams, locations, bowls, rankings, standings, etc. I really do hope they can make it work because it’s ones of the best mobile games in our time. Issues I’ve noticed: ranking system is weird, doesn’t make sense at times; a lot of teams with the wrong names, and school colors (team editor helped for my favorite team); no way to maintain players GPA levels other than spending a lot of credits player by player each time (Maybe add option for investing in overall Academics); Other aspects missing is actual recruiting work not just admissions; the Transfer portal similar to Free agents in NFL version; having the name of the city or team in the end zone; other team being able to stop the clock with their own time outs; show the final top 4 teams in bracket form; finally implement some type of way to play defense and control my defensive stars. Great work to the whole team that has worked on this project. Hope it can continue to grow with a lot of support.

Obviously amazing game but here are some suggestions

I really have a lot of fun with this game and the pros version of this game. But my suggestions is to find a way in both games to make extending the OC and DC contracts mean something. In both games I have never resigned a coordinator because I feel no difference in the plays my offense is calling when I have a 3 star OC vs a .5 star OC.

I’m sure there’s a lot of people suggesting this but yea it would be great to find a way to play defense. Although I see how it would be hard to do that with the mechanics of this game.

Maybe add a way to change the uniform colors lol. My local college has like pink uniforms in this game instead of thief maroon color. Plus our in state rival is not wearing anything close to what they wear in real life. It’s kinda hard to get used to. It be nice if we could alter the colors of the unis or if you did a update on the accuracy of uniforms.

Go Back to Retro Bowl(+)

This game is okay. It adds a dimension to standard Retro Bowl, which means it’s not just monotonous football all the time. But, key things are missing — like transfers. The rates of walk ons aren’t high either. Managing GPA is also kind of ridiculous, as any training besides light leads to a rapidly declining GPA. But the biggest problem with the game, and I paid for the unlimited version, is that it’s still buggy. It feels like a beta game, so no wonder it’s free. I am in Y6 and stuck with the original team I picked. Why? Because I’m unable to improve my coach rating despite winning the Naty for several years. The lack of improved rating means I get no job offers from other schools. And my rating doesn’t increase because, per the developer who I emailed, I’m not at “a supposedly better college.” So, effectively, I’m stuck. I’m only out $1, but until this game gets fixed, don’t waste your time and money. As stated, the developers aren’t helpful either besides “please be patient, we’re aware of this,” yet the game’s been out for awhile.

Almost Perfect

I loved playing retro bowl and I personally bought the dlc so I could customize all the pro teams into colleges and made my college back in the day. When I saw that this game came out, I was very excited, and I was even more excited when I realized my school was in there: Virginia Military Institute.
I was amazed by the amount of detail that went into this, it refers to the athletes as cadets while you play as VMI and it even rather than saying juniors or seniors it says 2nd class and 1st class cadets. That’s going above and beyond and I didn’t expect to see that level of detail. HOWEVER, you get the tiny details right but miss out on some very large things. For instant; the school is listed as Virginia Military Academy instead of Institute, and the shorter version provided is VAM instead of VMI. Also our arch enemy in football, The Citadel, isn’t in there (which is funny but I’m sad we can’t play them) I’ll just say that if the name gets fixed I’d come back and give 5 stars instead of 4, it’s a really fun game.

Problems and wishlist

First of all, I play this game more often than OG Retro Bowl, but it does have something’s I don’t quite like. Don’t get me wrong, I love the game, but I have a few things I don’t like and a few things I think could be added to the game.

Unlike the original game, you can’t pick any college at the start, which is not very cool. I wish I could start out as a different team than say Wyoming. Another problem I have with the game is after I’ve won 4 major national championships in a row, all undefeated by the way, all in Wyoming, I didn’t get any offers from any “good” schools, just the same old bottom of the barrel schools each year.

I wish they would add conference realignment, not random, but at the end of the season I should be able to manually realign the conferences. I think this would be so cool. I also wish they could make funding easier, it’s difficult to build a higher quality teams with the current system. Also a transfer portal feature would be amazing. Ability to add 12 team playoff? PLEASE!!!

Great but the potential for more is out there.

I loved retro bowl. So when this came out, naturally, I loved this game too. It added so much to what was an already entertaining and fun game. But a thought recently hit me. Notice on how you can view where players are from when you click on the roster. It gave me an idea that, for those who payed for the add-on, we could customize what town, city, or maybe even country the players are from. It may seem a little far fetched until you realize that you can customize where each bowl in the game are is located. I love the game, it’s great to customize each and every character and give them their own little story. But this small detail can so much to the players and give them a personality of their own. Plus it could increase the number of people who’d buy the add-on so that they could also create their own players themselves. It’s just a thought. I’d like to hope this could get added someday. Otherwise, the game is still great to play. 7.5/10.

Good could be great

After playing this one for a couple months now (8th season) I do like the challenge of this one over retro bowl. My biggest complaint is the gpa system and the fact that you have to use coaching credits to help those players. I think a better system would be a points system specifically for that. Which would free up coaching credits for other things. Like I said before I’ve played 8 seasons so far and haven’t been able to expand the scholarship fund yet. Which makes it feel almost pay to win driven (which I would understand because the game doesn’t have adds which is great). All in all they both are fun games but I do like this one better.

A cool idea if you are interested: a game where you create a player and you follow that player all the way through from high school all the way up through to the nfl. It could even be a mode for different games. Like retro high school, college, and nfl. Personally I think this would be awesome.

Needs improvement

This game is such an amazing way to pass time. In my opinion, it’s better than the original retro bowl and I love the variety in teams, players, and so forth. However, I have some bones to pick. Primarily, it gets boring. Dynamic is simply too easy. I played on dynamic for at least 10 seasons and it was too easy to put up 40 to 60 points every game, or sometimes more. Additionally, hard difficulty feels too easy and impossible is impossible, which is how it should be. I want to play and not know I’m going to win every time due to an incapable opposing defense. I feel like all that needs to be done is to make the opposing defensive players a little smarter, so no matter what their skill is on whatever difficulty, the decisions they make are more realistic despite varying skill and athketiscn on different difficulties. When I play dynamic, it should make “tough” games tough. I shouldn’t be able to pass the ball for an entire game and guarantee an easy win. Make the players a little smarter and give it a little bit of the unpredictability of the real thing. Then you’ll have yourself a winner.

Fun

Pretty fun and I like the game but it’s pretty annoying that I’ll dominate a game and still have to criticize a player for literally no reason. Other than that it’s fun and unique but it doesn’t make any sense that I’ll have a perfect game and yet the DL apparently didn’t do well so either pay up or make him mad. That’s a weird mechanic that I have no control over but I like the draft system and how it’s very limited with cash and options especially after you pick the first one. That makes it seem more real and challenging. I also think it’s slightly annoying that my players will sometimes fumble off of the kick off when I don’t control that either, it seems a little cheap and it only happens in very close games. That doesn’t have any part in my rating I like the challenge even though it is annoying. Replay system is a cool addition and it would be cool to add celebrations in cup games or bowls. Only thing I would like to add would be a better system of choosing plays. I understand that is a lot for a simplistic game and I’ll be clear that I do like the play system as it is.

A top alternative to College Football

Probably one of the best football games I’ve played. A free College Football game that lets me play out as my fav team and build them into a dynasty? Say less! It’s got everything Retro Bowl has but with a college twist. Player GPAs, Scholarships, you name it. I like the challenge of only having players for only 4 years. It makes each roster you have fresh. The gameplay is seamless and the ranking system is pretty cool, too. Not only do they have all 133 FBS teams (well, fictionalized counterparts), but also all 128 FCS teams as well (still fictionalized). The fact that they did what EA wouldn’t even do with their past CFB games is just amazing. But I will talk about the flaws. You can’t realign conferences to your liking. Want to move Winston S. (Wake Forest) to the Sun Sash (Sun Belt) for being a bottomfeeder? Too bad! Think your Midwest (MAC) dynasty team should be in the Large X (B1G)? Nope! There’s also no transfer portal, so that’s a bummer. That would really add some spice to the game. Also, no redshirting. Some would say the jerseys and teams aren’t exactly the same as the real CFB teams, but, c’mon, unlimited is ¢99 so get that. Also there is no field editor, so I CAN’T MAKE MY BOISE STATE FIELD BLUE. I know, bummer. But besides all that, it’s probably the best CFB game to come out in a while and it should definitely be on everyone’s mobile device. You don’t even have to be a CFB fan to get into RBC.

What’s with the hashes

This is a great game overall and I have loved it for the time it’s been out and have been playing it like crazy, but recently the new update was released and everything is great except the wider hashes. Whenever I run a play I could get downed in the middle of the field but it will still put me on one of the hashes. Also multiple of the routes are messed up specially the ones with the TE. He’ll end up running across the whole entire defensive line just to get put in the dirt before he could even run his route. The way there’s so much space on the opposite side of where you are on the hashes completely throws me off. Sometimes my wide receiver will just streak wide open because of the weird placement of the ball. Don’t get me wrong I love a free touchdown but now it’s just annoying. Also the runs are all over the place. What looks like a inside run ends going outside and it messes me up. Overall the wide hashes just mess with my mind and make the hard for me to play. I want to play the game but these hashes just get on my nerves over and over again. I really hope a developer sees this and responds. PLEASE FIX THIS

Great game, Here’s a few ideas!!

Honestly it has been so fun playing this game and i have a coach who has switched teams every season and has been every team in the game, the freshman admissions is pretty cool and all especially with the scholarship fund with the donations and stuff, but i would really really recommend adding something like the “transfer portal” to allow players to be given scholarships mid season, i also think it would be cool to have stats for non roster players, and the option for them to have scholarships given to them. Another idea would be making the amount of players on your roster a little higher especially because you should be able to recruit a lot of freshman and it would work better especially for a college based game. Also, and i don’t know if this would be possible, but at least getting some jerseys into the game, for example BYU aka “Provo” is like bright purple and it’s a real pain having to go through and change them all. But overall a great game and i hope you see this and appreciate the ideas!!!

You have cricket, but all you need to do is get a baseball game

You have a great company with great games except some in the past, but I’m not here to say about that but can you please add baseball for all the baseball knots and have it defense and offense because you know baseball fans will be mad about that and also if your other games can you add offense and defense, so people who are been complaining for years about that can finally rest assured that they can play a full inning game for an insane experience hopefully in two years because you made that college football game while you were in you’re dying prime and got more people to download it and also you’re probably gonna be competing against college football 25 which is being hyped up for the best EA sports game ever since college football 2014 so you have to get a good hype up show sports who is the boss make everyone proud and doing in a few .years or a month six months will be waiting for you.
