4.9 out of 5
Super cute and a great idea but impractical

The whole concept is fabulous, it is fun and lighthearted with cute little animals and adventures, but it is frustrating or even nearly impossible to play or practice if you don’t subscribe for $10 or out right buy the game at $90. Which I must be honest is too rich for my blood. At first I gave it the benefit of the doubt that my phone was running out of ads to play to get energy, but after a few days it looks like the cap is only around 4 which is only enough to practice for about 5 minutes. Not enough to get the animals stamina up and definitely not enough to try to do both the farm and the adventures. The free version feels like a overly drawn out trial mode. I understand the developers need to make some form of money and I have no problem with that but the marketing feels misaligned as unless you plan on buying it it’s just not practical to use, which makes me sad because it’s such a cute game with the opportunity to be so fun.

Fun way to learn a language, but the ads…

This is a really fun way to learn a language. The game is easy to understand and I love card based RPG’s. I also love the farmer/town building part of the game and how you can switch between the two. The only issue I have is how little you can actually play in one day, they only give you a small amount of energy which is like 3 rounds in adventure mode. After that you get 30 energy for every 30 second ad you watch which can only let you play one more time in adventure mode. At that point it’s best to switch to the farming side of the game and use all 30 energy practicing with your naala. I wish the energy was desperate for each mode so I can go on the adventure and battle monsters and once I run out of energy there then I can switch to the farm and upgrade the town.

App is fun but extremely limited

I enjoy the gamified approach to language learning and the interface is very cute, but the free version is extremely limited. You can only do a couple lessons a day before you run out of energy, and once you hit that pay wall all game play essentially ceases, and you won’t replenish energy until the next day. You can watch ads to get more energy but these are capped to two per day and do not have a timer to replenish the way most games do so you just have to wait until the next day to do more lessons and continue the game play. There are no other ways to replenish energy to continue playing and learning so LingoLegendLanguageLearning becomes useless after about fifteen minutes every day. So you can’t binge game the way my RPG gamer heart desires, nor can you make any real language learning progress in a day. It would be fun if you’re willing to pay for yet another subscription, but with so many language learning apps out there, this would be a much more competitive option with a larger ad cap or other in game ways to replenish energy.

No Timer For Energy

This seems like a great app, but, it really just starts out with basic words, and no words related to the game. Like wood, monster, tree, true, false, good, bad, etc., can be great words to use over and over. It says it’s an app that wants to use any amount of time to speak the language, but first, no related words to the game, but then, there’s the Major problem with energy. If you lose all your energy, that’s it for the day. No, literally, there’s no timer like literally all apps have when they have “lives.” This is really frustrating because LingoLegendLanguageLearning can have the potential to be a really effective app, but these issues definitely get in the way. If I have to wait a whole day to Learn a Language, why would I keep this, when there’s other apps that just straight up teach you?

You wanna make a game that teaches you a language at the same time. Ok, that’s great! Then treat it like a game. And maybe even add an accent helper, to help you speak German correctly.

Bonjour! 👋

Hi! I’m currently learning French with LingoLegendLanguageLearning and so far it has helped me a lot! I love the entire concept of this game! I love the farmstead and the adventure a lot! It is so fun but I have a couple suggestions. 1# Please add an accent helper. 2# Please make it so you can keep learning endlessly throughout the day. What I mean is you get 30 energy starting out each day and once you run out you can watch some ads for more energy for a while but eventually you run out of ads for the day. I don’t like this because I want to keep learning and doing the adventure, I know you can go to practice mode for more but that isn’t as fun or engaging. So please make it so you can keep watching ads for energy. :) 3# I would LOVE if you could have a little house! It could be a cozy little place where you can hang out with your naala. You could also decorate it and people could visit your house and chat with you! (Like maybe guild members) 4# I would love if you could add a feature where before you incubate your naala eggs you can see what they will look like, depending on the charms you put in. I want this because I bought a set of matching charms from Elijah and the naala looked gross and I would like to not make that mistake again. It would also help with things you do for Rosalie. Thanks for reading! I hope this was helpful and you consider my suggestions. Thanks for an amazing game! Au revoir! 👋

Fun and educational, maybe I’m emotional

I really enjoy LingoLegendLanguageLearning. I’ve always found learning languages difficult because I get frustrated by the slow progression. However, one of my dreams is to be fluent in as many languages as my great grandfather - maybe even more. When I was a kid I enjoyed reading books that were translated into Spanish with him. It may seem small but to a little kid, it really made me appreciate him. We were both quiet and reserved which is rare in my family. With him, I didn’t feel as much of an outsider. Anyways, I lost the little knowledge I had on Spanish when he died and I want to get it back. My grandpa knew 7 languages. Currently, I am learning Spanish and ASL. So that’s about 1.5 languages I have in my brain. I have a long way to go. Thank you to the developers for assisting me in my journey to honor him.

I do have one question, however. Do I have to complete the Spanish course in order to add another language to my account, or is this not a thing? Learning only one language in this effective method seems limiting.

Other than that, good work! 👍❤️

Still young and growing

So I got into this as an alternative to Duolingo. I’ve been using Duo for several years off and on, and really hit it hard this past year, but after a while I found it fizzled out and became repetitive. LingoLegendLanguageLearning found the spark that duo was missing. Lingo has a way of grabbing your attention and holding, while making the language learning feel secondary, so you don’t “feel” like your learning. It helps continue to push you forward and learn without really feeling like “work.

Now I gave it 4 stars for some really obvious reason, the first is that it’s not as in depth only providing a handful of languages, which I’m sure if due to the age of LingoLegendLanguageLearning . Secondly, and I’m still early into the game itself, but I’m not sure how well it allows you to “use” the language. I hope that in the future we are able to speak/communicate audibly with LingoLegendLanguageLearning to get a better immersion. Hands down the most gamified app I’ve found to take. Also excellent price options for premium!

Love it but needs some changes

Two things, first thing; when I first started the adventure route it said I could leave and go back to camp and everything would save but when I go to do so it asks if I’m sure and that nothing will save. The second thing: fighting in the adventure route. The fighting itself isn’t the problem it’s when you go and pick a card it will either give true/false, multiple choice or you have to spell the word. For my personal preference I dislike the spelling because I can’t remember how to spell any of the words so if we could turn off the spelling in settings that would be great so the people who do enjoy the spelling, can leave it and the others who don’t like it can turn it off

Apart from all I said up there, I absolutely love it, from the farming to the adventure to the monsters, etc. if I had to recommend a language learning app I’d recommend this

Great game, but the voice recordings are a little low quality

this is a fun little game with an easy to understand combat system, nice character design & animation, and a good soundtrack. it starts out a little slow, but once you get to the boss called odys, the battles can become a genuine (but not unfair!) challenge, requiring you to tailor your deck to the area you’re in. i enjoyed the gameplay so much at that point that i pretty much blew through the story from odys until the current “end” by playing at work every day. and this is as someone who normally finds card-based combat frustrating!

anyway. at the time, the game used text-to-speech voices. i know that hearing text-to-speech isn’t the ideal way to learn language, but it was serviceable enough. it seems that since then, the japanese course has received real voice recordings... but unfortunately, they can be a little hard to hear. they’re often quiet, distant-sounding, and/or echo-y. i do think it’s a great sign that voice recordings are being added, and i’m sure it’ll get better in the future. but for now, i think that’s something to be aware of, and it’s the reason my review is four stars instead of five.

looking forward to future updates and improvements, and i can’t wait for new story content after the frontier ^^

Goodbye green bird. Hello revolution to learning.

This is my first review I ever wrote for a game, but I wanted to show my support to the developers and drop five stars. At first I was skeptical because a lot of language games are boring and I stop playing after a day. Not this game. I honestly have to force myself to stop playing so I can get some sleep. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed. They are also very active in Discord and work hard to answer questions and fix bugs. I seen someone report a bug and five minutes later the developer said please try it now. Awesome.

Disclaimer; Yes you will get better results if you pay for it as it takes away the daily energy. Though I have to admit what’s a small price to pay for unlimited language learning and killing monsters.

Love the game!

I love the game, it’s the perfect way to gamify learning for me. I think it’s great having the adventure mode and the farm mode and the player can focus on whichever they prefer! It runs super smooth and I learned the Cyrillic alphabet SUPER fast with this game. My only complaint is that I feel like overall, that’s the only thing that is lacking. I would love to use LingoLegendLanguageLearning to learn a ton of languages, so I was wondering if Ukrainian might be added soon? I know people who speak it and it’s just a bit too different from Russian. I totally get that those things take time so pure curiosity! I’ve recommended using LingoLegendLanguageLearning to all my friends and family because I love what you guys have created!

A Fantastic Game!

The style and music are both cute and endearing, and the gameplay is fun and engaging. Even without the language aspect it would be a fun playthrough, and adding the language part makes it even better! I am still very early on, so I can’t say for certain how helpful it will be in anything but vocabulary, so I am leaving that aspect out of this review.

Even if you aren’t hard pressed on learning a language its a really fun and charming game that I highly recommend! They also offer a fair variety of languages, and while the one I was hoping for wasn’t there (Welsh), its of no surprise. They do have a good number, such as Spanish, French, Italian, and Portugese among others

Overall, highly recommended!

A beautiful game

You can see the passion in this. And it actually MAKES you want to pay for the additional content unlike many modern rpg mobile games blocked behind a paywall…but not only for that reason but to support these developers. I’ve seen some reviews of this game not being playable to a certain point without paying & I couldn’t disagree more. And if anything whether you pay or not it helps you level up while utilizing spaced repetition each day(in other words either way…. You win. All in all a solid game and as most can see the 4.9 rating is very accurate to the content output and everything available to this. Definitely purchase the full version if you can and support these developers!

Fun Learning

This game implemented what I love to do in App games (farming) and turned it into a fun way to learn! Ads aren’t popping up after every action, it only pops up if you willingly choose to watch an ad to gain more energy so it’s enjoyable to play. There’s an option to purchase LingoLegendLanguageLearning for life so there are perks and no energy involved but you don’t feel forced to go through a paywall. You can tell the devs encourage players to want to study and farming isn’t the true focus since it doesn’t require 1hr for a crop to grow and food doesn’t take 3hrs to produce which is incredibly refreshing! I also love that the devs have a discord channel as well where we can talk to them directly and suggest ideas to improve the game! I highly recommend LingoLegendLanguageLearning to my friends and I’m excited to learn other languages once I finish my first one!

cutest language learning app

i really love this game and its idea. ive been searching for a gameified way to learn french in order to keep myself more motivated and interested in learning constantly, and this game is so cute and almost perfect! the mechanics and story are easy to understand and actually engaging, and its a nice incorporation with language learning.

I only hope that this game is continually improved in the future, like adding real recordings for more courses instead of the robotic voice.. Another huge thing i wish this game did better at is adding vocab that is relevant to the game’s content, and a gradual incorporation of the language into the game instead of just minigames would be really nice!

other than that, i hope the developers continue to update because i really love this cute game!! :)

Really fun language game

I just started, so I’ll have to check in later and let you guys know how it’s going— but so far I really adore this game. I’ve been wanting to practice my language skills and while my friends were challenging each other to duo lingo matches, I wasn’t feeling very motivated. I chanced upon LingoLegendLanguageLearning, and liked its similarity to games like harvest moon and star dew valley. And I think this game does a good job of capturing that genre. The farm animals are adorable and can encourage practicing skills. (Their energy is fueled by the memory games, and you need that to provide milk for the farm, but if you take too much their energy gets drained and these cute lil lama things get sad, so your encouraged to play more games to boot their energy)
Anyway the games a super cute idea and I hope to see it gain traction and grow.

A great supplement to learning!

I have been looking for a legitimate language learning game for a while now and this fills the void! It takes flash card-style learning to a whole new level! The card game portion is the best part to the learning process as it utilizes spaced repetition (SRS) to take your mind off of what you just learned and challenges you to recall words & grammar after each card is played. A wrong answer causes your card usage to fail. The important part is to not rush your learning, which is the point of the limited energy. If you like what the creator has made & would like to support them, by all means, please fund them! Otherwise, it’s free. Last note: each language is lovingly curated with details about the specific facets of grammar points. There is nothing generic or copy/paste about it! Kudos to the developers for making a unique app!

I couldn’t put it down

I literally just played the game for two hours. I feel like i learned a ton even though it’s not constantly shoving “learning” down your throat. I think i learned words and phrases as well as sentence structure (japanese) significantly faster and maybe easier than duolingo and price wise it’s about the same unless you buy the “for life” package deal - that’s save a ton tbh. Giving it a three month trial run but heavily considering that deal. A ton of fun! Just wish you could get income easier - even though i’m doing a ton of farm orders which is quite repetitive due to having to practice with your naala’s multiple times to get their energy up to continue working - it’s taking a long time to expand the farm, which isn’t entirely bad but just a thought. Would def recommend over duolingo…! (If your desired language is available)

Amazing!!

I am obsessed!! I used to use Duolingo all the time but it eventually became very repetitive and it wasn’t as fun anymore. This game though it’s continuously fun as there is so much to do. You can either work on your farm and play with you Naalas to practice your chosen language, or decorate your farm and build relationships with the locals. On the flip side, I love how they turned learning a language into a RPG battle, where the cards you use practices the language you’re learning. You have to be fast and really test what you’ve learned in order to move forward in the battle, all while leveling up your character.

Over all I really love this game. It’s been the only app that I find I am able to replace with doom scrolling on social media. The only recommendation I have for this game is more practice of dialogues with farm workers rather than just most flash cards and words to memorize.

Loving so far!

I’ve been playing this game for about a month now, but have been learning the Korean language for almost a year. The language learning aspect has been somewhat easy so far, since I purposefully didn’t pick the most advanced level and already knew a good amount. I LOVE the game play, it’s extremely engaging, kid friendly, and not too difficult or easy. I personally have now lost a boss battle twice, so now I have to go back and level up a bit. I do wish there was a bit more character customization and some other cute add ons in the game. But otherwise it is a 10/10 game, and definitely my favorite language learning tool so far! 링고 레전드 감사합니다!!
