Sony has been a staple in our home entertainment for decades since the first playstation. But all of it seems to have gone downhill. Bravia were the only TVs I would even consider but this latest one is constant troubleshooting. A tv should just work. It shouldn’t take ten minutes to warm up and it should come with a viable remote control. Since the og remote didn’t last more than a half year, and the replacement sony brand remote lasted another month, we have succumbed to using this garbage app. At first it was okay. What can you expect from a $4k tv anyway? Certainly not a remote that works or a “free” app that takes its place. Recently in addition to requiring constant resets for basic functionality, the app has introduced ads that take over the phone after maybe two clicks. I literally need to sit thru 3 ads just to turn the tv on and find one show. If this was a third party app I would understand that. But it’s not. Sony already has my credit card debt. At least sell me something that works without more obnoxious selling.

My tv remote is starting to go bad. Before buying a new one I decided to try and find an app. Come across this free one, and decided to try it. Literally the most annoying thing ever! Trying to navigate the tv with this app and being interrupted every 10 seconds for an ad is nothing short of trying to use an actual remote and having to change the batteries every 10 seconds. I most likely would have even purchased an ad free version had I actually been able to try it out, but the fact I couldn’t has easily made me decide to just purchase another actual remote and delete this app.

App works perfectly, connects quick and works just as responsively as your remote.
Great for when you’re holding a half asleep baby and the remote is across the room but you want to quickly mute a sudden ad or something of the like.
Doesn’t work great when you try to use the convenient built in app support to do so but have to stare at a loading screen and then the ad that pops up and makes you stare at it before the timer runs out and the “continue to app” or little “X” buttons pop up in random corners before you can do so.
Another built in “convenience” ruined by corporate greed. Same people that make gas pumps yell at me about celebrity news while I try to fill the tank. Take your fraction of a cent per view, I just hope you know you’re a bad person while you do it
