This game is so so bad I hate it so much. I wanna eat every every day it took away my brother in the game and I was trying to get it away but then the babies kept growing away and I was so mad and I didn’t want to learn with the money was and then everyone was so mad at me yesterday because I didn’t get the Matcha greens and then now my grocery store kiwis are so mad at me and I really just want to go to bed, but I can’t because 💅😏🌸🩷EMMA greens are mad at me, 💅😏🌸🩷EMMA greens, 💅😏🌸🩷EMMA greens. What does that mean I don’t know but the green and you are a bad green and I don’t know what the Shrek wanted to get away with, but we can run really fast and today is my day day of the Ryo and I am going to run you can use and I don’t even know what my name is. I wanted to run really fast but then James Charles sister was mad at me and now you’re mad at my mom and I don’t know what my name is and I want to be happy today but I can’t because of the days of the Rys and now I’m so mad because Rys is getting over and I am mad at Rys so everyone get our ICE out of here because we don’t like the guy and we have 💅🙄the and we have the roaches in our Chilos

So, Lingvano is targeted towards the average casual user, right? People who genuinely need to or have to learn sign language likely have better resources available to them, and casual learners with endless disposable income could easily afford in person lessons or something more reliable and higher tier quality with their endless amounts of money. $18/month is a laughably high amount for the target audience of Lingvano to spend. Lingvano could get 1000 users willing to pay ~$5/month for every 10 that are willing to pay ~$20/month. There are so many more options and resources available for learning ASL that are either free or much more cost effective than this. Also the blatant word-mouthing greatly takes away from the learning experience.

I’m fourteen years old and want to learn ASL, it’s an overall okay app, the lessons are quick and simple, but there’s a ton of issues. To start, I don’t have any means of paying for the premium. I couldn’t even finish chapter one without it advertising that I pay to learn. I’m not def, but would like to be able to communicate with def or hard of hearing people and there are people who need access to this for their needs especially def people. The price is insane and I cannot afford that. It’s ridiculous. Another problem is the lessons. They’re easy to understand, yes. But they dump so much information that it’s hard to grasp just one thick that you’re learning. To brush up on one specific sign I’d have to go through an entire lesson and go through things I already know and that’d be aggravating to most. There’s definitely some improvement to be had.

You can’t even complete the first lesson without paying the subscription. One of the main reasons I downloaded was because the ad said it was free.

On the ad: I was hesitant to download Lingvano simply because in the ad the person who was signing and trying to get the other person to download Lingvano was being super rude. She was talking down to the person who didn’t know sign saying “You won’t download Lingvano” “Got any more excuses?” And etc. When she simply showed interest in learning sign. One of the main points the signing person made was that it was free so you can learn sign and not have money being an excuse as to why you don’t learn but it’s a monthly subscription (which I’ve read is $18 a month) before you even finish the first lesson.

This is ridiculous marketing and even more ridiculous pricing. If you wish to help deaf and hard of hearing people by teaching people sign claiming it’s free and being rude is NOT the way to do it.

I bought this app’s 1-year subscription on my PC after downloading the free app and started the lessons last night - I was so excited to learn! Lingvano looks awesome. Then when I checked my bank account this morning I saw that this app had charged my bank account the full subscription fee 5 TIMES IN A ROW. That’s nearly $600 for what was SUPPOSED to be ONE transaction. I feel cheated and scammed, and I don’t know if I’ll get my money back because I can’t find a customer service number anywhere, just an option to talk to a bot for troubleshooting on Lingvano . Be VERY CAREFUL. I will have to dispute these with my bank and I have no way of knowing if I will even get my money back.

Current non-functional con: after every lesson (after the “checking answers” screen), my app hangs unresponsive on a white screen. I have to force quit and re-open, and the majority of the time it hasn’t registered that I completed the lesson so I have to redo it.

If that ONE thing wasn’t in the way I would truly live Lingvano. Clean, clear, love the way the lesson structure is built, love the video dialogues and little culture lessons. Hope my tech issues are fixed because I want to keep going!

This could be a great app. I was ready to subscribe and pay the high fee because I like the way it’s set up.
However, going through the free trial showed me it would not be worth the fees… every time a picture won’t load, I’ve submitted error feedback; usually about 30 times per session. It wouldn’t be as bothersome if progress continued, but every time I have to go back to the dashboard to reload my progress is lost. I then have to go through the whole unit again and pray that the pics will load.

Repetition is good, but 30 times over to get through a unit is insane, especially if you’re paying for it.

The lessons themselves are great, but the fact that you have to pay to learn how to communicate with people who have a disability is kind of stupid in my opinion. While Lingvano teaches basic signing and a good way to say hi or ask if someone is deaf, it doesn’t provide more than that. Even if the fact you had to pay was dumb, the price that Lingvano makes you pay is completely unreasonable. It makes you pay more than most people make after working for hours. I find that insane. I will say though that the idea is great, but the prices and the fact you have to pay is pretty insane.

If I'm going to pay that much money to learn sign language, I might as well just go to my local community college and take a class, this is absolutely ridiculous, it's great to be able to compensate people, but if you don't have money, and you need to learn sign language, you are absolutely screwed here. It should be set up like Duolingo, where you can choose to get more lessons quicker by doing premium, or you just use it daily to do one lesson a day, maybe have ads if that will help, but seriously? Forcing subscriptions? Really? Are you actually serious with that? 7 days is not enough to learn a whole other language for a free trial.
Forcing people to pay for something that they need but cannot afford, is not cool, useful, or necessary. There are clearly plenty of people who are able to pay, and do pay, so why not take their money, and use that to let the rest of us use Lingvano too? It's like you don't even want people to learn sign language, unless they're loaded on cash of course. Greed will be the death of this world and you're proving my point. DO BETTER!!!!

If you were to make the premium more affordable or even have lessons unlock on a daily basis then you would have way more people use your app! The first lesson I took was very easy to digest and very well made so I know the rest would be great! But I didn’t even get to finish the first lesson because I had to pay up. $18??? Really???

Not everyone can afford a membership like that! By having it at such a steep price your excluding people who would genuinely want to learn. And by doing so destroying future opportunities and relationships community-wise. How are people supposed to come together when they don't have the resources to connect with one another?

I know most of asl can be learned for free online but to be able to have lessons put together in an easily understandable manner is so important to prevent the lost of understanding and interest.

I'm not saying make it completely free, I completely understand everything takes time and money, but to at least have it unlock a lesson a day would be amazing! And you could have the membership as an option for people who want to learn at their own pace!

If Duolingo can let you take 6 languages at a time for free with option of 6.99 a month for learning at one’s own pace, I think you can have a free lesson a day with a membership option of less than $18.

I still can't get over that, $18? That's an entire paycheck for some people.

Think about it and do better.

I like Lingvano but really wish the teachers wouldn’t mouth the words they are signing. Not only is it distracting for someone trying to learn to sign, I think takes away from the demonstration by making it easy to just guess what they are signing based on the mouthed word. Also, too expensive. I understand a premium aspect of an app but it makes learning sign language a privilege for those who can afford it.

Honestly, I want to learn more ASL for the future and help me study for my ASL class in high school so I don’t forget certain vocabulary. The introduction is wonderful however the fact we have to buy a subscription to have more than the first chapter to me is ridiculous. The prices are rather high too. I understand the need to pay people, however this is just disappointing. I was excited to learn, because it’s hard to find materials and apps to learn ASL anyways, but was quickly disappointed upon seeing I have to buy more chapters instead of needing to watch an ad or waiting till the next day. It puts people who cannot afford these subscriptions but want to learn, like students and etc at a disadvantage once more. No one enjoys ads but the people would rather watch them instead of needing to pay needlessly expensive subscriptions. It’s a good app, don’t get me wrong, I just had my hopes up and was yet again crushed because of yet another pay wall.

The small lessons that are available for free seem to be great to help people unfamiliar with sign language learn and understand the structure and inner working of the language. There are tidbits and need-to-knows sprinkled into the lessons. However there is not enough available for free.

Perhaps I’m too hard to please, but I do believe that the majority of it should be available for free. A learning tool that isn’t out for your hard earned money would be nice, and Lingvano in particular seemed to be off to a good start until I noticed that anything past the 1st module is locked behind a paywall. So now I know how to say Hello and such, but I can’t get any further than a greeting without spending money. I think that learning should be above payment and it’s so sad to see what could have been an amazing resource fell into a capitalist trap.

I realize the time and effort it takes to make an app like this, but $18 a month is way too steep. That’s the price of Netflix and Disney+ combined—almost an entire hour of work at my job. Inflation isn’t really a reason, and you’ve got a simple word like “Good” locked behind a paywall. I already know a lot of ASL, however, I wanted to learn new vocabulary related to the food we serve where I work. I know most words like bacon, toast, coffee, milk, etc, but I’d forgotten simple things along those lines like sugar, ice, and juice. I used the dictionary after it interrupted my first lesson to try and force the trial down my throat, but I was only able to look up a couple words before it again tried to force the free trial on me. You don’t get to finish lesson one, and you don’t get the dictionary at all, unless you’re paying $18 a month.
Here’s what you get to learn for free: Hello, Bye, How, Me, You, Deaf, Hearing, Thank you. After that, it was guessing on signs like: Book, Swimming, Baby.
So if I ever have a question about a word after learning ASL from your app, you expect me to continue to pay $18 a month for that dictionary? Absurd, and doesn’t help the deaf community if it’s all behind a paywall.

I have been learning ASL through professionally taught classes for the past three years, I saw Lingvano being advertised by a well known deaf figure and whereas the advertisement stated that this was free to learn, I quickly realized that this was wrong. The format of Lingvano is good for learning, and the feature for watching yourself sign was also a great way to encourage people's hands to be moving. I quickly breezed through the first lesson, second lesson, and within about fifteen minutes I had reached the paywall. I declined and the next day came back to see if it would let me continue, it did not. This block on simplistic things like the alphabet or words that are more important in everyday speech such as "where is __" or "who are you" or "what is your name" are all things that I believe should at least be accessible to the public; not to mention that without the alphabet, many would not be able to at least try to piece together a sentence. So, with all of that said, this seems like a great app for those who are willing and able to pay for its benefits, but free public classes teach in a similar or even better way and do not have the same cost.

I got so excited when I downloaded Lingvano, and I was really hoping to be able to learn sign language, but I couldn’t even complete the first lesson without having to pay!! It was such a good app for teaching sign language, but I definitely think there could have been more open to people who weren’t able to pay. The dictionary option as well as the vocab features and such could have been closed to those who couldnt pay, but it would be nice if the actual lessons were available to everyone. Im truly disappointed that I can’t continue to learn sign language using Lingvano :(

First off, the price is crazy expensive and I didn’t see an option for a yearly discount which I do for Duolingo. Speaking of, unless these are owned by the same company, a lot of Lingvano seems to be copying Duo. Again regarding price, Lingvano is quite…ugly. The appearance and interface could use a major overhaul, as well as the logo. Branding matters and maybe if it was pleasant to look at, I could possibly justify the monthly price. The trial was so short I couldn’t even become interested in wanting to pay for it. When there are so many other free options out there, I’ll have to go elsewhere.

TLDR: I did learn a few basic words in the super short trial. While I understand deaf people mouth words as they sign, I found this distracting while learning because I was just reading their lips instead of focusing on the hand movements. App design is unappealing and dated but content is decent.

Yesterday I started using Lingvano because one of my friend’s friends have pretty bad hearing and she is friends with a friend who is friends with some deaf people, so I wanted to start learning sign language. I already knew only a few words, but I wanted to learn more. One app you could only do a daily lesson, and everything else you had to pay. On Lingvano you can do a full lesson, but can’t do the review. I got to course four and finished it, but course five is when I had to pay for EVERYTHING. I couldn’t use the dictionary, start a lesson, ANYTHING.

I was super excited to start learning and was really enjoying the first lesson only to make it most of the way through and not be able to continue unless I pay $18 a month. That’s way too expensive for an app, I don’t even pay that much for any of my streaming services. Even though I am disappointed with this, still giving 3 stars because it does have a lot of pros, Lingvano was very easy to navigate and I was able to get learning right away. The lesson (the short amount that I got to do anyways) was very thorough and helpful, showing different ways something can be signed, and going over it multiple times in different forms such as, multiple choice, matching, etc. to help you remember. It also has an option to slow down the signing if it’s too fast for you to understand which I think is great for beginners like myself and definitely helps. So overall, it really is a great app, they just want way too much and don’t even give you a full lesson before they want you to start paying. Still debating if it’s worth the money or not.

Giving three stars because I think this is a great app, or has to potential to be. While I can agree it is easy to use/navigate, and good beginner friendly lessons. Why is there a premium? I consider ASL a staple in communication. While I’ve personally taken a few years of ASL, I’m by no means fluent. I wanted to use Lingvano to become as fluent as possible for my job, and not for the money as I would have to be certified, but because no one else in my department knows ASL. Therefore, would consider this extremely important. If people truly cared about hearing individuals (or others like nonverbal or recently deaf) learning ASL, it would be free. I’m somewhat familiar with the deaf community and they typically love when hearing people know sign language. So why make us pay $18 a month for it? I do have free ASL resources in my area, but that requires me going out after long days at work. And what about people who don’t have those resources? Why make something so important so expensive? $18 is a meal on the table, a half a tank of gas, it helps with bills.

I love Lingvano, learning sign language so that i can communicate with deaf and hearing people is very fun. i love the way there are videos and at the ned of each lesson, u can choose to redo it, go over the lesson or move on. the only thing i don’t like about Lingvano is that u have to pay for it. i knew that it would be too good to be true, amazing lessons, great reviews, and amazing quality, until i’m on my last lesson and before i could even start it, it’s making me pay to continue. i’m obviously not going to pay but really, u guys are making a great app that millions could use, to make millions not use it by paying?!? like this is very annoying and i would like to use sign language to communicate with certain people and because i have to pay, i won’t get to do that along with hundreds of thousands of others.

When I got Lingvano I was so excited to learn ASL. I did the first lesson then came back on Lingvano just to see that it wasn’t completed. I tried to complete it but it told me to start the free trial. I declined the offer but then shortly realized that there was nothing else for me to do if I didn’t start the free trial. Somebody who is deaf, non verbal, or has a friend that is deaf etc. might need to learn ASL without going to an in person class. The first lesson only gave you words like hello, welcome, how, me, you, and fine. I wanted to be able to know and learn ASL, but to do that you have to start a free trial. not everybody is able to pay $18 a month for an app. I wanted to learn ASL and join the ASL community but now I can’t do that because i don’t have $18 to give you every month. I still gave Lingvano 3 stars because if someone were to go premium and continue with the lessons the lessons are very easy to understand and show you how to learn the word very well even including a slow down button if they are signing to fast. But I am still mad because I would like to have a conversation in ASL which they give you if you continue Lingvano with premium. In all Lingvano would be lovely if it didn’t have that outstanding price you would have to pay before you could even complete the first lesson. I really like Lingvano but I have big beef with premium. Things like the review at the end of modules would make a bit of sense to need premium for, but all I can do without paying is the first module NOT including the review at the end.
I’m neurodivergent and can sometimes go nonverbal. What if I don’t have a pen and paper or an electronic device to communicate?? Sometimes I can’t force myself to speak which means I’ll have no way to communicate my needs. And what about those born deaf or went deaf before they learned a good amount of spoken words?? What about mute people?? I and many others with these or similar problems may not have a good support system or the money to take ASL classes or pay for fancy apps.
Lingvano was really good! It explained stuff and had multiple methods of teaching. But what’s the point of having it if it ain't accessible to as many as possible?? This seems like exploitation if I’m being honest and that’s not a good look. Please change this.

I’m a high schooler who wanted to learn asl as a basic skill before applying to a new job where I’d work with kids and I worried there could potentially be deaf kids since I encountered deaf people for the first time at my old job. I was really excited but I got through all the available material within an hour before I was stopped by a paywall. Again I’m a high school student and currently unemployed and I absolutely would’ve tapped into my savings for this but I just can’t afford $18 monthly payments. I think it’s unfortunate after seeing how tiring it is for deaf people to communicate with hearing people who’ve never considered learning to sign because it didn’t affect them and I’m sure many would be willing if it was more accessible but I don’t think prices that high are helpful to hearing people willing to learn or deaf people who struggle daily communicating with people who can’t sign. Accessibility would help all sides so I don’t understand.

Lingvano is all right but Lingvano seems to be zoomed in and some of the videos only show you once. There’s no way to repeat some of the videos. Because everything is zoomed in, I can’t see everything. I don’t know if there are options to click. I had to guess answers on some of the questions because the video only showed me once. The format of Lingvano isn’t appealing but the information on there is good.

Lingvano is good, but the curriculum moves too fast with not enough review. They start you off very easy and then jog through to really complicated and long dialogs where its so hard to follow. And a lot of the words aren’t revisited in a way that helps build memory, I’ll learn a word once and then not see it again until it’s in the middle of a huge dialog 6 lessons later and I’m expected to be able to figure it out? I’m currently a frustrated customer. For as expensive as Lingvano is, I wish it was better designed for learning constructively. This is making me think they didn’t test it with actual users

I found this from a few advertisements and suddenly got the urge to start learning sign language for fun. I was I really interested while going through the first lessons, and then it showed that I had to pay to kept going.. well not exactly paying I don’t think, but I had to put card info. Lingvano is for 9+, do you think all minors have that kind of money now? And speaking shouldn’t come at a cost at all. I’ve tried learning Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog. They all needed card info for me to keep learning. I’ve tried so many apps and nothing came fully free, I thought learning sign language would be different but it’s still just another language. I don’t get why we have to pay to learn these things. And people say it’s best to start learning at a young age. How can I learn if nothing will let me.

It does have a lot of lessons, and I did enjoy following along, but you can only go through like 90% of less than one before you have a to pay. I really would like to learn sign language and I am I’m sure how else I can do so without an app, but the fact it requires a subscription and not even just a one time payment. It is a barrier for a lot of people the parts I did get to experience were good, but it’s disappointing that it cost money to learn, especially knowing Duolingo is free and that is a language learning app that many people use I wish there was an app like that for sign language so it was more accessible

First off, Lingvano itself is great. The teaching style is wonderful, it includes variations of signs, and direct translations (which personally helps me understand the grammar better). It reminded me of Memrise and I was excited to use it as a supportive study resource while taking my ASL class this semester.

That idea was quickly shattered though. Unlike Memrise, you cannot go past a point in lessons for free. It would be nice to have the same setup where the paid version gave you better more customized ways to study while everyone is allowed to go through the lessons free. It's already a problem that ASL isn't taught in schools by default so deaf people are excluded in so many of our lives. Why keep that behind a paywall for people who are trying to fix that? On top of that, the payment options are wayyy too expensive. It's the same as the overpriced streaming services. I got a whole year of Memrise for $30, with Lingvano that's not even two months. If anything changes let me know because I would love to use Lingvano, but until then most of my generation is struggling to even pay rent.

This is a fantastic app. I found it easy to use and the spaced repetition is excellent. The vocabulary and conversations felt (for the most part) useful and appropriate for the real world. One complaint was the end of section reviews. They were so repetitive I didn't even have to see the word/phrase before answering because they showed the same one so many times. Also there were times I finished the reviews and there was an error forcing me to retake them. I just stopped doing those altogether. But that didn't matter too much and didn't affect the learning process.

My bigger issue was the pricing structure. I 100% support paying for Lingvano and even paid for a full year. It was (with caveat) absolutely worth the ~$100 for a year. BUT that should have been a one-time, for life price. I finished the entire series in about 6 months and Lingvano hasn't added any new lessons since I bought it. There wasn't any point in renewing to pay another $100 yearly (or a monthly) fee to repeat the same material, but now I don't have access the the lessons I already took. That's really frustrating and disappointing. Again, I am not complaining about paying - an app like this shouldn't be free. But continuing to pay without new content is problematic and not worth it. I'm sorry I can't keep using Lingvano as I really loved it.

I like Lingvano a ton, I’ve been learning ASL but have struggled to keep up with things the past few months and Lingvano has helped. However, as someone who aready knew a bit of ASL, I wish Lingvano had a placement test so that I didn’t spend weeks learning the basics and could skip ahead to what I don’t know. The price is also a bit steep when comparing this to free learning apps like Duolingo. I would be willing to pay as I understand this is a high quality learning modality for a unique language, but $5-$8 a month is more reasonable. Hopefully as time goes on the price goes down.

Everything is awesome about this, I have just started Lingvano and it is already amazing at using. I have Doulingo and this is almost and exact replica of Duolingo but for sign language. That is not a bad thing at all! The ONLY down side of Lingvano that I have experienced so far is it is a bit easy. Not because I have already learned some ASL already but it is because it gives obvious hints that doesn’t help someone learn. The “obvious hints “ that I am talking about would be that it asks me what sign is a certain word and it has two options, those options say what the word that sign is if that makes any sense. There is one thing that I THINK is something wrong is there is a mirroring button that I was expecting it to have a camera and make me do that sign and it would recognize what I am doing. It doesn’t have that. It does however have the mirror button and it does have the camera, but it doesn’t do anything besides show you yourself, nothing else, to me why even have the button. Everything else I love about Lingvano and I don’t even think that you need the mirror thingy but I was expecting it because I was sure I saw it in an ad I saw. All I have to say is that. I do like Lingvano, but I think there is so much room for growth. The videos are a really great way to learn (although they do stick at times, even though our internet is extremely fast.) And I love the option to slow down the videos. All that is helpful. I do think the curriculum moves VERY fast. Things only get repeated through the module and by the next one you don’t revisit the content anymore, just learn a lot of new words. Since the modules are short and done in a few minutes, it’s just a few minutes of practice before the next batch of new words is introduced. I also wish it were an option to revisit mistakes to make sure they’ve been learned from. I really love the way Duolingo approaches teaching (Repetitions, presenting the same information different ways, gamifying the experience…) I really wish they would teach ASL. By comparison Lingvano feels bare for sure.

I love Lingvano , although it definitely has room for improvements.
First, enough with the premium! If your deaf and broke, your gonna have to learn sign language some how. People need to learn and I think the premium is making thing limited especially for people that need it! If you don’t want to get rid of premium that’s fine, but at least put the price down a notch. Not even some of the most popular apps are that expensive. If I can’t remember how to sign “How”, I would have to go all the way back to one of the lessons and see a bunch of stuff that I’ve already mastered. It’s really annoying that I can’t just use the dictionary, or do some other lessons. Not everyone is rich and has money to pay for premium. I feel bad for the people that actually need the help. Overall, though, Lingvano is great with loads of lessons (even for people that don’t have premium). Although learning some lessons are really quick it still is very helpful.

Overall I love Lingvano. I feel like most of the signers are very clear and easy to follow and understand. A few sign differently and that’s tricky but I feel that it’s helpful to have variety to help prepare you more for the real world.
Their testing isn’t great. I’ve written the wrong word but it was close to the spelling of the correct word, even if they aren’t even remotely related, and I got it correct. I guess Lingvano took it as a misspelling? Other times I’ve added “ing” or put tummy instead of belly and I get it wrong. If there are multiple answers and you miss one, you get it completely wrong. These things aren’t a big deal. But it can be a little annoying when you have to take the test again for little things like this. Also, the tests are so repetitive! I think it’s smart to use the same words over and over to really pound them in, but when the same person is saying the same exact phrase over and over I stop watching and just tap out what they’re saying. I don’t have to try at that point. It takes away from my learning.

Other than the testing being so-so I do feel like I’m learning to recognize signs. I wish there was a way for me to practice them myself through Lingvano like other language learning apps, but I have no idea how they could facilitate that. This is the best ASL app I’ve found and I’ve enjoyed using it overall!

This happens so good if a teacher sign language there are absolutely nothing that makes me not like Lingvano. I’ve been using it for 15 minutes every day. It’s amazing you need to try it on an ad so if you go to Jorge Mitchell elementary school if you go to if you eat lunch if you’re in second grade if you eat lunch first and then go outside for recess please go to the bench and I’ll teach you sign language but with Lingvano it’s the best app in the world you need to get it and then if you come to my side movie Gratiot, you know all the things I try to get you to know, so make sure you try. Lingvano is the bomb, and so far no ads

Well basically it’s great and I do know asl so it’s a little hard to understand Lingvano and I don’t want to half to pay for it but of course it’s how you make your money so it isn’t why I am not crazy about Lingvano. It’s just not what I’m looking for and if you are looking for something to learn asl I don’t think you should get it because it’s SUPER HARD TO UNDERSTAND and the letters of the alphabet and it almost makes them look WRONG!!!! So I don’t think it’s a great app and some people from other reviews are maybe learning asl wrong and don’t think they are! PLEASE FIX Lingvano!!!!😫😫😫😫

I’ve been trying to press the one year subscription button in Lingvano since last night. I’ve tried everything. Shutting down my phone, logging out and logging back in again, deleting Lingvano but nothing seems to work. I can press the 3 month and one month subscription and they work fine. The year button won’t work no matter what I do. I love Lingvano but if you could fix this so I can buy a year subscription that would be great.

There are a couple issues I have.

In the finger spelling lessons I kept getting the same words!

MOUNTAINS. ELEMENTARY. etc.

If it says ______ SCHOOL, I already know the answer is ELEMENTARY and so my finger spelling practice is unhelpful.

A lot of the time, I can quickly unscramble the available letters to figure out the word. Just give us a QWERTY keyboard!

Much simpler.

Minor spelling mistakes, except in finger spelling, should be given half credit or something. It’s frustrating to spell a long word and get it wrong.

I should be able to hit Submit with the sentence construction. When I put the words in it auto submits. Sometimes I want to go over my answer for a moment.

Like many people, I was initially appalled at the price of a subscription to this app. But then I thought about it and realized that you're paying for the quality of the production. And I can tell, from both my experience with the beginning lessons and the intelligently written reviews from people who have subscribed, that this is a very well-produced app. Unfortunately, I still won't be subscribing right now because I have no income and simply can't afford it. 😕 But if and when I have that much money to spend, I will!

I appreciate that this is the only ASL app I've used so far – and I've tried many – that actually acknowledges and explains my seeing different people using different signs for the same word. I used to be much irritated by that, and I saw reviews indicating that many others were as well, but the reality is that different people sign the same words differently, and understanding that is just part of learning ASL. Bravo!

I was going into this assuming that there would be a few premium features that required a subscription. However, the review feature, and 90% of the lessons are under the premium plans. I am going to have to pay because this seems like the best option, but it’s still frustrating.

This has really helped me keep up my ASL at a time when I can’t do classes! I appreciate the explicit instruction and opportunities for review and practice.

A few cons: Lingvano doesn’t always recognize multiple meanings for a sign. For instance, if you type “acting” instead of “theater” (same sign), it’s marked incorrect. I get that AI can only go so far.

Also, there’s a glitch in the “level up” star-collecting lesson. For me, specifically in module 6. I’ve scored 100% correct but then earned no starts and then gotten a message to try again.

Finally, some of the language used in connection with queer related signs is archaic at best, and offensive at worst. No queer person I know, myself included, uses the word “homosexual” in conversation. I do hope this can be changed to reflect current, respectful terminology.

All in all, this is the best out there to supplement learning live from Deaf instructors / community members.

This has been such an amazing experience using Lingvano. I have always wanted to learn asl as I think it is fascinating! I work as a nurse and surprisingly come across a lot of patients who are deaf or hearing impaired. All of the teachers on Lingvano are amazing, Liz is my favorite and you will see her the most! I am on module 6 of Lingvano and had my first successful shift caring for a deaf patient! We didn’t need to write down anything or use word boards for identification, we were able to communicate just with asl and he was extremely impressed, and surprised I knew asl. Such a beautiful culture that I cannot wait to learn more of and hopefully be involved in more!!!! If you’re on the fence, JUST DOWNLOAD IT!!!!

This is a pretty great app just one suggestion. I know a bit of ASL and want to continue learning. But I had to take this from scratch rather than learning at my level. It should test how well we know sign language. But other than that it’s a great app and for those who don’t know any sign language, get it. But for those who already have some experience, it may take a while to get to where you need to be. But nonetheless it’s a great app.

I really wish there was a way for me to flag signs that I need more practice on. Lingvano itself does have a progress bar that tells you signs you need work on, but I think it is a bit too lenient sometimes and I wish I could highlight signs that I don’t feel confident about. Especially since there’s some signs that I’ve guessed on and managed to get right, so Lingvano won’t register it as a sign I’ve struggled with.. it also seems like it takes 3-4 times in a row of getting a sign wrong for Lingvano to put it in the “Needs more practice” section. I’m sure some people love that it gives you multiple chances, but I’m the type of person who wants to have every mistake noted so I can study it, even if it was a mistake. I do really genuinely love Lingvano though, I think it is so awesome. I have been wanting to learn sign language for a long time but didn’t know where to start. This has been a fun and easy way to learn. I’ve even got my boyfriend to start learning with me so I have somebody to practice with! It feels really good knowing I can do my part in helping the community be more accessible. :-)

I tried some of the learn sign language / ASL apps on the store and they ranged from not great to “ok”. I found this app online and was hesitant to subscribe to a service just through a website but it turned out to be the right choice.

Their product was good and their teachers are good. The guy doesn’t sign as clearly but it’s good real world practice, but the main lady is great and watching the dialog between the two is super helpful.

Their lessons test you as best they can without having a teacher actually seeing you sign. Multiple choice, reading dialog, and quizzing you on ASL concepts and rules.

If this all translates into Lingvano , it will be the best ASL app on Lingvano Store because the content is great. If not I will update my review with what needs improvement, but their lessons are top notch! Very high quality.

My only current critique is I really wish this was an iPad app, but hey it’s better than nothing. Really looking forward to using it and being able to manage my subscription via my Apple account.

This is the best one to ever because I get to learn ASL because it is cool and I’m just doing this for fun, but if I meet anyone that is deaf, I can locate them with Lingvano or with a friend who wants to like you know you lose Lingvano you can always let them know. Also whoever made Lingvano if you’re still alive look at mine look at my review five star review, it’s just too good too good I might forget to do some lessons because I always miss out on Duolingo. I hate that thing a little bit. I love it teach me Spanish but then I when I don’t wanna learn Spanish I literally just go like I don’t wanna do do a Lego, also Duolingo is like the best thing on earth. Anything else do do lingo is just me trying to say Duolingo so make sure Lingvano is fun good and better for kids Sia.

I’ve been really interested in learning sign language but haven’t found a course that really teaches how to actually communicate not just show me some signs.

This does just that! I love the dialog bits where you can see them signing a conversation to each other. Some signs are a bit hard to make out when you just have the front view but I just pull out my other app “sign for me” to clarify it and it works out well.

You do have to pay a subscription to make it worth it. But it’s not unreasonable and you can’t expect them to make and maintain an awesome education app for free.

Very easy and convenient to work through the different lessons! I wish the dictionary portion was more expansive, but my main complaint is the subscription based program. I know that’s the standard nowadays but without regular people to practice with, I lose the information quickly, so I would have to maintain a subscription “indefinitely” - and the prices make that impossible. Maybe a model where you pay that monthly rate but keep courses you completed afterwardswithout having to pay? Like keeping a textbook from a class.

I tried other apps and was upset with their generic designs. I have slightly studied multiple languages and I was looking for an app that would teach me the few signs that comprise a sentence and it’s English translated equivalent. Lingvano has been the saving grace I was looking for and with its assistance I truly believe I will be able to learn ASL to speak to my family. I hope they continue to provide this amazing tool for free, even though they deserve payment for it.

Awesome app! A bit expensive with 18 a month. Would have maybe thought 18 total. Guess it gives extra incentive to finish it quickly though. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We have been learning ASL for a while and knew the beginning signs that are taught. Lingvano is allowing me to see how sentences are structured though. Which is mostly what I've been looking for. Reminds me a lot of an ASL version of Duo. Which is perfect.
Thank you for creating it. We've been learning because of our ministry work and I personally feel it's my responsibility to learn ASL in general. Those that are hard of hearing can only do so much to communicate with the hearing. And they do very well- but I have it in my power to learn to communicate with them. So I should. And Lingvano makes it very easy.

I understand paying $18 a month can seem like a lot of money. I challenge you to go find a way to learn ASL cheaper or any language. Classes at Gallaudet are 990 for 16 week courses. Private classes can be more affordable but if you want a quality app with continued updates you have to pay the staff to support them making those updates. I love Lingvano. The premium is a little high but I understand where and why it’s in place.

I am a hairstylist and I realized that there is an entire community out there that probably can’t or won’t get their hair done because they can’t have someone come to interpret for them, or maybe they feel they might be judged or fear, because writing things down for communication goes so far. I have been using Lingvano for 5 days now and I have learned so much! I am so excited to get closer to being able to converse with the deaf/hard of hearing community. Overall, Lingvano runs great and it’s clear where everything is and what to do.

the ONLY issue I have is sometimes, the instructors don’t sign the same, and I end up getting confused. I know the letter N has the thumb between the pinky and ring, but another instructor just puts their two fingers down, so I was confused and ended up getting things wrong.

I initially started learning ASL due to a crush…and Lingvano has exceeded my expectations in helping me achieve conversational fluency! Over the past 7 months of daily study, my vocabulary has expanded to about 1,000 signs. I've nearly completed all the lessons and am now focusing on mastering them through the vocab trainer feature. This progress would have taken me years through traditional classes alone. While I also work with a weekly private ASL tutor who is Deaf and am considering formal classes in the future, Lingvano has truly been a game changer for me. It has not only enhanced my communication skills but also introduced me to a vibrant community and culture within the Deaf community. Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning ASL!

Very great app to learn how to become conversational in asl. Lessons are short enough to be completed within a few minutes, but if you do one or two a day they definitely start to add up and your knowledge starts to compound.

Lots of complaints on price in these comments, but at the end of the day it’s not free to create an app of this caliber and it’s way cheaper (and more convenient) to pay for Lingvano than to hire a tutor or attend a class.

I downloaded Lingvano 19 days ago. I am now on unit 3, and I know 264 words so far. I know my alphabet, I can count to infinity if I wanted to, I know my days of the week, seasons, months, I can tell and ask about time. I know simple conversational signs and so much more. Lingvano is perfectly laid out and organized with units, chapters, and lessons. There is a study tab for vocab, spelling, and numbers. Lingvano inspires you and hypes you up to keep up a daily streak. You can get on there and study for a few minutes, and that will count as 1 day towards your streak. Go at your own pace, and have everything explained thoroughly. I say give it a shot ❤️

I’m HoH but was never taught ASL. When we discovered my daughter had my same hearing loss, I decided we’d both learn ASL. I’ve taken classes locally and on Zoom but every app I tried wasn’t great or didn’t work. This is the winner! It teaches not only signs but correct signing in Deaf culture. I now have a way to practice daily, which I need as the Deaf culture here is tiny. Very happy overall!

I have always wanted to learn to sign. But it wasn’t offered in my school system and with my budget now, finding an in person class to pay for isn’t an option. I stumbled across this in an add. And did the first chapter because that is what is offered for free. I learned the greetings quickly and immediately dove into the free trial of o continue because I was so excited to keep going. Everything is explained so thoroughly and even if I’m slow signing right now, it’s so exciting to be able to understand what someone is signing to me. And I think it will be more than worth the monthly price until I’ve completed all the units. And it comes with three dialects to learn, so I could become multi lingual in sign. This is a true dream come true, and I’m so thankful that I found Lingvano.

Lingvano is helpful because it shows you a sign, allows you to adjust the speed of the demonstration, and provides a mirror option so you can see yourself signing. It also provides explanations for syntax and other helpful details.

I almost never take the time to write reviews, but Lingvano is fabulous. I am on a 43 day streak, and I am so delighted with my progress. For context, I spent some time in deaf circles as a child, more than 40 years ago, but have had almost no ASL practice since then. In just a few entertaining minutes a day, Lingvano has helped me regain everything I once knew and then some. It starts out deceptively easy, but has a phenomenal depth of both ASL (including grammar!) and Deaf culture. I am so glad that I got a year subscription. I often do a lesson first thing in the morning, but if I forget, it gently reminds me not to break my streak come afternoon. My progress has been such that, last weekend, I felt confident enough to show up at a deaf gathering in my town.

I really like that there is no sound and that the teachers are deaf themselves. This forces me to really work on understanding sign language, rather than lipreading or depending on speech or captions. My only suggestion would be to add a feedback button. There are occasional text errors which could easily be pointed out if there was a forum to do so. overall, highly highly highly recommend Lingvano. I’m having a blast with it!

I’ve been studying ASL for a couple years, casually. I know a lot, but it’s random, you know?

So I expected the introductory lessons to be basically just silliness for me.

But wow, Lingvano is so rich in content, and does so much repetition.

One of its major strengths is the videos - I still have to use the “slow” feature jut before Lingvano, I just couldn’t follow when other people signed, and now I feel like I might actually be able to be a fluent(ish) signer one day!

Grammar is mostly just built into the lessons themselves, but they’ll also call out specific grammatical with just a few lines on one screen.

I love it so much I bought my daughter her own subscription.

My only real complaint - if you don’t finish a lesson chunk, it doesn’t save your progress like other apps do. Cannot understand why this is.

So it’s great incentive to actually finish little lessons every day!

The first ever time I saw someone sign was in elementary school and I was fascinated by sign language. I never perused sign so much until I was in my late 20s. I had a daughter and my wife and I taught our daughter baby sign language. She is 3 and a half, currently and can hear and speak but she still uses the baby sign language her mom and I taught her. It’s absolutely amazing. During the first 3 1/2 years other than the baby sign language I never continued to learn more sign language. Until now. I have only had Lingvano for 2 days now. I took the first few things I had learnt in Lingvano and the next day I was telling my coworkers all about Lingvano and how it truly works.
Lingvano helps in so many ways. You are able to focus on your hands. The movement. Being able to understand. It’s pure beauty.
If there is ever any doubt in your mind about wanting to learn something new, I highly recommend giving it a shot. You won’t regret it!

Lingvano is actually good, this is my first time downloading it because I want to learn more about sign language, because it seems fun and I want to communicate with people who are deaf, but so far Lingvano is really good!

I absolutely love Lingvano! I have in tunnel hearing loss which means I can hear out of one ear and I can’t hear out of the other. When I was a child I only knew so little of sign language and then when I got older I stopped using sign language because I got use to reading lips and having people talk loud so I can hear. Now as an adult my ears are getting worse and worse as I get older and I’m wanting to learn sign language so I can still communicate with my family and others. I already learned so much in just 10 minutes. I didn’t know how easy it can be to learn sign languages thank you for coming up with Lingvano!! 😁

I have absolutely loved Lingvano . Is there anything beyond module 24?? I want to keep learning new things! I wanted to say that there is an error on the vocabulary trainer. The person in the video is signing converstion-sign and none of the three options given are correct so you can never pass that one off. Also, the word “quiz” is missing a video completely! Little stuff in an otherwise wonderful app. Would love more!

I have to say so far Lingvano is really good I haven’t found an app like this one. I’m more of a virtual learner and this did the job. The reason I want to learn sign language because I was never taught this language in high school or at my university I wanted to try something new. Found it interesting being a ale to learn sign language there’s soo many deaf individuals in this world where it’s hard for people to even understand and I want to be one of those people to learn a different language that is not used as often as it should be. So far Lingvano is wonderful love the face expression is your looking for something virtual this is for you. Hope this help.

Lingvano is the single best ASL app I’ve found. From the videos being easy to follow, the actual grammar lessons instead of just rattling off words, the options to slow down videos and split screen the camera so you can follow along. The dictionary option is great when you need to brush up on a few words or when you’re translating with someone real time and the vocab trainer is great for daily use to make sure you’re training in all the material. Not to mention that Mano is adorable and the reminders and feedback it gives you are actually encouraging instead of slightly menacing (looking at that creepy green owl we’ve all tried) premium is a thing to unlock all of the content but honestly I don’t even think about it just bc of how worth it it is. I never subscribe to app things but this such a great value that it’s really no question

Hello! I came from Lingvano to write this review. As a teenager who is trying to learn ASL for self knowledge, and for communication with those who are not hearing so far Lingvano has been extremely helpful. It gives the choice of "mirroring" which is the button to the left of the person signing. I love it! Everything shown and typed on Lingvano is accurate. Not only does it teach you the signs and how to sign them, but it explains specific things thoroughly about ASL. So I 100% give this a 5 star rating and think if you are a beginner trying to learn ASL from scratch, Lingvano is the perfect app for you!

I’ve always wanted to learn ASL, and Lingvano makes it very easy to do so. The clear and easy to understand and copy signs make learning easy. I also love the mirror feature which allows you to use the camera on your phone while watching the models to make sure you’re doing each sign correctly. The paid version is pretty spendy at $18/month so for now I’m just sticking with the free version. I’m really enjoying it, however, and if Nahas meaning ASL both easy and fun!

I downloaded Lingvano to my tablet so that I could prop the screen up and see the signs and then use the mirror feature more easily. I was very disappointed to learn that it has the same view as on my phone. I had really hoped that I could take advantage of the larger screen to see things more clearly, and more comfortably use Lingvano . How am I supposed to practice using my hands if I can’t prop my screen up easily? My neck gets tired looking down at it.

Other than the view limitation, however, I am loving Lingvano ! It works well for my learning style, and I am finding myself making progress quickly. I’m also remembering the signs much more easily than when I took in person classes. The repetition schedule is perfect for me!

I suffered a massive injury and hit my head on my car while then striking it on black ice that I feel on. I was giving a hearing aid for my right ear, and I still have sound in the left ear. Last evening I spent two hours in the emergency room while they try to pull out the dome of my hearing aid that was lodged deep inside the canal, almost 2 inches. The pain was beyond excruciating as they pulled it out, and I am petrified to wear my hearing aid. Therefore, I would like to learn ASL to help me function. This site is extremely easy for a beginner and I highly recommend it this far. Thank you to whoever developed Lingvano.
