Make Me A Cocktail Reviews

‘Building a bar’ of spirits, mixers and ingredients to draw cocktail recommendations from is one of the selling points of MakeMeACocktail—and also requires signing up for a free account. Unfortunately, MakeMeACocktail will share that information on a public-facing web page that search engines access. Information includes your real name, bar ingredients and more. This information should not be shared beyond other users of MakeMeACocktail –and only with explicit consent. There’s no reason it should be published on the web by default. None of this is disclosed in the on-screen prompts when creating “MyBar.”

It’s really good but I wish they would fix unit conversions such as from cl to oz, some drinks are unpalatable when you try using another measurement, or the ratios are completely off.

Also, would be great if there was an option to create your own custom cocktails, even if they were only tied to your account.

Just downloaded. List of cocktails doesn’t always fully populate. Sometimes it gives 30 sometimes 5 for the same list of ingredients which is really frustrating. I have a list of 19 ingredients including spirits and it only gives me bitters and ginger ale as a possible drink. Other times, for the same list, it gives me 32 good options. Very random.

Keep receiving an “internal error” message duration registration attempts. As a result the attractive feature of building your own bar in order to receive potential recipes is unavailable. Otherwise, the format looks good. Its not broken however the usefulness has been limited. I’ll keep trying and hopefully the source of the notes internal error is resolved.

Overall this is a great app. The recipes I’ve reviewed so far are great. The pics, however, are terrible. They are zoomed in too much for MakeMeACocktail , so all you see is the middle of the drink. It would be nice to see the top of the drink to see how it’s garnished. The garnish is listed in the instructions, however.

Overall MakeMeACocktail is great, but I cannot figure out how to add items to my bar that aren’t already included in MakeMeACocktail ’s items to select.

Less than half of my liquor bottles are included as selections in MakeMeACocktail . How do I manually add my items?

If there truly is no way to manually add your items, then this is a truly useless app.

MakeMeACocktail works well but some of the ads that it displays are impossible to exit from. I have to force-kill MakeMeACocktail to get rid of them. I understand that a free app has to make money, and I could tolerate 30 seconds or so of an ad, but there has to be a way to get out of it. This is infuriating.

Trying to find a recipe is slow going because MakeMeACocktail is loaded with obnoxious video ads that force you to watch several seconds before you can dismiss. I might be willing to consider paying a few dollars to get rid of this but the recipes were pretty mainstream and not too interesting, so I just deleted it instead and will stick to my cocktail books or searching online.

I use the website for a lot of ideas and things, so I do like it.

However, I would *really* like a way to default to ounces instead of cl/ml like I do in the website. It’s not that I can’t do the math but if I don’t have to then I don’t want to.

Other than that (big for me) issue, I like it.

It’s just an overall great app if you would like to make drinks. With COVID MakeMeACocktail has allowed me to get the bar drinks with my lack of knowledge.
Things I like:
- you get to put in the ingredients that you have at home and it will make suggestions of drinks that you can make with that list
- a large list of drinks......like large!
- great drink ideas. Mad men drinks, James Bond drinks, etc.
- once you find a great recipe, you can favorite it so that you can easily find it later.

MakeMeACocktail seems promising, but the full screen ads that pop up can’t be closed (the close button is “conveniently” located on top of the iOS menu bar so it can’t be tapped), meaning that the only way out is to kill MakeMeACocktail and start over.

The fact that these ads pop up every second recipe only compounds the frustration this causes.

Developer - how about a paid ad-free version?

No in-app purchases, shows you what you can make both in general and with only your ingredients, sorts ingredients into different types (spirits, liqueurs), and you can shake your phone for a random recipe! Really, really awesome.

Love the wide range of ingredients they have on here, only issue is I can’t get the randomize feature to work. Not sure if you have to be on a certain screen but I haven’t had any luck shaking my phone to get a random recipe

MakeMeACocktail offers a lot of variety in drinks and features that in many apps cost a monthly fee. My only ask is that a ratio feature for a measurement conversion.

Just what I needed for parties at my home bar. Great selection of drinks and like that I can put all the ingredients I have at home and narrow down to what I can make. Only wish MakeMeACocktail rotated on the iPad.

Nice interface, easy to use, but I can’t rate drinks or make notes on drinks I’ve made.

Update: when I search by ingredients I have it returns drinks I clearly can’t make. Pointless app. And it sends my contact info to the developer. Why do you need to contact me when you only provide a few recipes, most of them are poorly rated or I can’t make.

So I just downloaded MakeMeACocktail and I made a mistake and signed in with my Apple ID and I wanted to sign in with Facebook so I deleted the account and I’m trying to register with my Facebook and it won’t let me, every time I hit for Facebook it shuts MakeMeACocktail down. So I’m now force to register with my Apple ID.

MakeMeACocktail is nearly perfect. Two suggestions 1) the ability to scan my liquor/juice bottles
2) calorie count of cocktail

MakeMeACocktail has an awesome layout, impressive database of alcohols and mixers, and cocktails. Very impressive.

I went through picking my ingredients and the drink options had only one of them and other ingredients I didn’t pick. Dumb.

Returns one cocktail for which I have none of the ingredients...useless

Gave me two drinks I could make.

Bar inventory is a joke. Cocktails are a mostly crew of shot glass slammers. Deleted app.
