Good concept, way too many bugs and poorly made questions

2022-05-21

I bought the premium version of MCAT so that I could enjoy doing some this app related questions. However, there are so many bugs and questions with either no answer explanations or even incorrect answers. Every time you review a question, it always says you chose another answer choice than the one you put. One question had explanations of what myopia and hyperopia were and it was an organic chemistry question. When you want to play a friend, it sometimes bugs out and skips a person’s turn. The concept is good, but the amount of bugs and terrible content/explanations make it not really worth it. I’m glad the creators are doing well in MCAT cycle, but it seems as if it was rushed just so they can tell adcoms they created an this app study app. Please fix these bugs and bad questions as I genuinely do want to use a viable version of MCAT.

Cool idea, but not worth the cost

2022-06-22

Tl;dr app has potential, but there are much better tools and apps out there for this app review, and it’s really not worth the price.

I bought MCAT because I loved the idea of a content review app focused on discrete questions. However, as someone with both this app experience (taken it, currently tutor it) and a computer science background, it needs major improvements and is really not worth the $9.99 subscription fee.

The content emphasized by mine isn’t the most “high yield” on the this app (a weirdly high number of question on HMR terminology, which is really low yield on the exam). The explanations afterward are sometimes vague or wrong, or outright missing.

In terms of the interface, it’s really hard to read the light gray text of the explanations, and the answer options get cut off. After doing a round of 60 questions, I don’t remember the choices and can’t even see what the correct answer is. The occasional obvious misspelling of words is just irritating. These are pretty obvious UI/UX problems that should have been fixed before MCAT went live and definitely before it started charging money.

I applaud the effort of the developers and appreciate how hard it is to start an app from scratch and wish them the best of luck as they develop their app. As a consumer though, I’m not ready to recommend it.

Try Anki (free) or this app Mastery and UWorld (paid).

Good concept but needs work

2022-07-23

Pros: the UI of MCAT is super smooth, no lag and super fast, looks good, good idea for content review practice

Cons: there are some misspellings, incorrect answers (self efficacy is wrong and the way the cholesterol rich area question is worded is absolutely ridiculous), definitions can be too general and not in line with AAMC, way questions are worded can be better

Suggestions: make questions in line with what AAMC asks rather than your own, let free version edit time duration for questions, be able to quiz against your friends, make own flashcards

Hard to review in “Your Answers” Section

2022-08-24

Like others, I’m using MCAT to study in my downtime. While the content is great and high-yield, it’s difficult to review correct/incorrect answers because MCAT doesn’t accurately account for answers submitted. It will swap my correct for incorrect or vice versa so you have to remember what you selected (can’t rely on the red/green coloring). Or, the description for the correct answer will not be aligned with what’s stated as the correct answer. Ultimately, seems like there are some coding issues and isn’t the most reliable so I wouldn’t repurchase or extend my subscription.

Great for learning and studying science!

2022-09-25

MCAT is a wonderful way to study the sciences, and does it in a creative and fun way. The adaptive question bank is a great tool for studying questions that you might have trouble with. The multiplayer could use some touch-ups, namely in regards to the responsiveness of opponents. However, overall MCAT is a wonderful learning tool and game platform.

Love this app!

2022-10-26

I use MCAT when I have down time at work, at night before bed or anytime I have my phone on me and have some free time. The material is directly related to the this app and has helped me solidify basic recall information and learn topics I didn’t even know I needed to be familiar with. MCAT is a MUST have for this app takers !

Great questions if you are on the go

2022-11-27

This is a great app too look at and quiz yourself aside from other apps like ANKI. It’s actually kind of fun! If pictures and some of the content shared on the Instagram page could be added to MCAT that would be nice! Overall a great app, I recommended it to friends.

Customer service

2022-12-28

The developers of MCAT have the best customer service. They tried to fix a problem that I was having with MCAT . They were fast about responding and trying different ideas to fix it. Plus MCAT is really great for studying!

Great app and customer service!

2023-01-29

I really like the questions and the explanations provided. I feel like adding pictures or diagrams would help even more! I also had some technical difficulties with MCAT , but the customer service was great and fixed the problem pretty quick!

Awesome way to switch up MCAT studying

2023-03-02

Found MCAT via social media and decided to give it a shot. Has been my favorite thing to do when I’m on the go or having some difficulty starting material for the day. Makes this app material fun and has a trivia game feel. Definitely would recommend to supplement your studying!

Really Useful and Good for someone on the go

2023-03-31

MCAT is honestly amazing. I am a person who doesn’t have time to sit at my computer doing practice questions and review. You can study going to work or just when you have a break from classes. The explanations are also very simple to understand. Will be using daily until my this app.

YOU HAVE TO GET THIS!

2023-05-02

lil_jalebiii: So right now I'm actually studying for the this app by sections but every night I play this for maybe 15-30 minutes before I sleep and it makes me remember past concepts and high yield information that I might of forgotten. It’s great to use no matter where you are in studying like for after content review or for space repetition. And if you’re just starting, it can be a good baseline diagnostic for content areas. It actually tell you the subject and Sub-content name so if you get questions wrong you know which areas you need to study or recap on. And if you review questions you got wrong it breaks down each answer choice so you know how to fix your thought process. It’s a great supplemental source that makes learning fun! I highly recommend this in your routine for studying.

Best Content Review App for the MCAT

2023-06-02

I’ve had MCAT for about a month or so and can honestly say that it keeps me on my toes! It is definitely super helpful because it makes reviewing content so much more fun. I would recommend MCAT to anyone who wants to go to med school. The challenge aspect of the game is nice too because it adds a competitive flare to studying and makes it all the more enjoyable. 10/10 from me!

Great way to study on the go!

2023-07-04

A friend of mine told me to download MCAT and I do not regret it at all! I love how there are explanations provided with each question. I play for about 15-30 minutes before bed and I feel that it helps me recall high-yield information. The fact that it’s a simple app makes it easy to play/use on the go (I find myself playing this whenever I’m waiting for my coffee in line or at a store or at the doctor’s office, etc.) MCAT is a great supplement source to content learning as it makes it fun! Especially when you can set up matches with friends or others on MCAT ! I highly recommend MCAT!

Brett_Bulkeley app testimony

2023-08-04

Have had this app king of the curve for more than 3 months so far and have only positive things to say. The home screen is accessible & well made with plenty of options to keep the users attention all with challenging but constructive questions. If you are someone with this app studying needs or would like to learn more about the systems that keep the world turning, give this free app a download!

Perfect on the go Study Tool!!

2023-09-05

If you’re studying for the this app, chances are it’s behind a desk, in front of a computer or books. The best part about MCAT is that it allows you to study from anywhere AND still gives you the necessary feedback/explanations when you miss questions. You can even customize the type of questions you receive so you can study specific topics! MCAT is an essential for this app studying!!

Fun and GREAT Customer Service

2023-10-07

I recently had issues that lead me to cancel my membership and I saw on IG that they were doing a free 1 month subscription on their app. I sent them a message and let them know and they were able to grant me a free month!

Aside from this, their customer service is PHENOMENAL! They even give emotional support during your study journey every now and then on their IG! Definitely download MCAT! It’s fun, affordable for the content given, & their customer service is great!

Very engaging!

2023-11-07

I’ve used MCAT before it was an actual app and it was so amazing. The questions are so short and to the point and gives you the whole idea of a topic in a few words to help you remember it for when you are actually doing questions. I realized that when I am trying to study using MCAT by playing the game it keeps me more engaged and I remember the answer to the question much better. I spent so much money on other materials but this has to be one of the best for the price!

Relevant questions, thorough explanations

2023-12-09

I’ve been using MCAT for months after a friend of mine mentioned it to me. I’ve honestly found it so helpful in not only studying for the this app but also just in my general premed classes. A lot of topics that I started off not knowing very well became super relevant as I progressed through the premed courses and such. It’s perfect for just a few minutes of studying here and there, before bed, and on your walk between/to classes. It definitely helps that it’s organized to feel more like a game than this app studying, highly recommend

Highly motivating

2024-01-09

I’ve been using King of the Curve for a little while now, and it has been really good at helping me realise that my studying is paying off. I try to use it at least once a day, and it’s been very helpful to see my scores on the endless mode consistently improving. It also provides well written explanations for questions, so afterwards I can go back and see why the right answer is actually correct. My final highlight would be the stat breakdown MCAT provides, which tracks overall performance in different categories, which I’ve found useful in identifying weak points.

There are better options

2024-11-17

The questions are good but you can’t see your answers again or it’s explanations. Simply put, if you don’t invest money MCAT isn’t all that useful. I would advice the creator to compare it to other this app apps and notice how a person can still learn this app stuff from those and not have to pay huge bands.

Needs Some Work To Be Awesome

2024-11-17

Cool app but I would add 1) detailed explanations 2) pictures and diagrams 3) option to flag/review a question.

Great App!

2024-11-17

I really like the questions, and the way it gives feedback - fun study tool :)
