MeowTalk Cat Translator Reviews

I cannot express how excited I was to hear about MeowTalkCatTranslator. More than one friend forwarded an article to me about this new technology. I immediately downloaded it and the first time I used MeowTalkCatTranslator , it worked, sort of. I created separate profiles for both of my cats. I recorded meows for one of my cats. However, I was disappointed that those sounds were not captured in the history at all. I was more than willing to pay for the premium version in order to store the recordings, but the interface of MeowTalkCatTranslator is so skimpy that there is no help section or FAQ section or even a way to upgrade to they are premium version. It didn’t matter because the very next time and there after I have received an error message that isn’t even grammatically correct. It says “Something goes wrong. Check your connection.” I have tried reinstalling MeowTalkCatTranslator and I’ve also tried creating another account and nothing has worked. It’s disappointing that MeowTalkCatTranslator has garnered so much buzz but simply does not work. I have a perfectly brand new iPhone and no other app has any problem with my connection. Not ready for primetime. Don’t waste yours in frustration.

1) If you use before registering, then decide to come back and register, it does not carry over the recordings of your cats or that you have input any cats at all.
2) If you go back and ‘skip registering’, the earlier recordings and all the input cats show back up.
3) I have 3 cats, one 15 yr old cat who talks ALL the time. According to MeowTalkCatTranslator , all he says is Hello. Hello when he gets up, Hello when he comes in the room, Hello when he’s hungry... While it does sound closely the same, the inflection is different . His purring ’I want attention/more attention’ sound is translated as ‘I’m sleepy’. (Not ’I’m content ‘?) I have put in my alternate interpretation, but now I’m stuck with Problem #4.
4) There is no way I can save what I have recorded/documented without erasing it all in order to ‘register’ MeowTalkCatTranslator to me/us.
5) The choices are SO unbelievably BASIC that I have to wonder - sorry here, guys! - do you even HAVE a cat or have you lived with any cats for an appreciable length of time, really? (P.S. I am 73 and I have lived with dogs and cats since I was too young to remember so I have listened to a lot of cats.) Good luck!

I got MeowTalkCatTranslator for my cat, Silhouette. (I do have another cat named Ike but he doesn’t talk much). She’s a very chatty cat and I was so excited when I got MeowTalkCatTranslator. I haven’t used it much but so far it’s been pretty accurate. The only problem is the mic. The only time it picked up her meow was when she started down right at my iPad and meowed. Just today, I turned MeowTalk on because Silhouette was meowing a lot at me and I wanted to know what she was saying. She meowed about six times and MeowTalkCatTranslator didn’t pick up a single one of them. I don’t know if this is your fault of Apple’s but if you can, please make MeowTalkCatTranslator have a better microphone. Other than that, MeowTalkCatTranslator is awesome. MeowTalkCatTranslator is a very cool idea and lets you know what your cat is saying. Far better than any other app that I’ve tried.

Ok, so actually I realized a little later that I had her profile set to ‘Male’. I’m hoping that this will fix the problem.

So I am giving it 3 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Just because of issues, and things you should fix! When I am creating type of cats that my cats are, it sometimes says my cats have the same words when they meow, although my cats are different types, very different. When I record and my cat doesn’t meow yet, it says my cat said something. There is sudden glitches with choosing the age, and choosing the name. Sometimes the computer bot thing goes wrong, and it says the wrong things or does the wrong things.
Besides that, everything else is O.K.A.Y! MeowTalkCatTranslator is great, and useful to know if your cat is doing okay. It’s also useful for entertainment purposes. If your scrolling down the reviews, wondering if you should buy MeowTalkCatTranslator or not, I recommend you should! It’s a great app. Especially if you have a new cat, and want to know how the cat is feeling, and want to get to know the cat.

My sweet neurologically complex? cat (she has a genetic condition that causes issues mentally) and I were having a struggling relationship. I’ve always encouraged her to speak and we’ve been bonded since we met but the recent (6ish months?) incessant screaming and meowing had made me almost truly mean to her at times. We’ve been using MeowTalkCatTranslator and after 3 days, and over 25 meows, it’s like a complete 180.

I thought this was stupid but my fiancée brought it up. Now, after using MeowTalkCatTranslator- my sweet baby Yen is significantly less stressed, far better understood, and we have been really enjoying eachother’s company. It’s like old times again!

My other two cats are, well, cats and meow only when they really want something so it hasn’t done much in that realm but I can say thank God for MeowTalkCatTranslator.

My baby girl is so much happier, and I feel so bad with getting so frustrated with her, but I can’t believe the change that’s occurred.

Thank you, thank you to the developers. You have truly made my sweet Yen have more of the life she deserves.

I’ve had cats my whole life but when I ended up taking ownership of my deceased mothers’ cat, his constant “talking” was both confusing and overwhelming. I figured he was grieving and his crying would cease. However, the tones and talking were both so usual I had to download MeowTalkCatTranslator.
After translating his meows, I feel so relieved that nearly all of his meows are positive. I also feel much closer to my new kitty and can give him more of what he wants: which turns out to be attention and love😀😊🥰

I was so excited to try out MeowTalkCatTranslator when I heard about it on Facebook, and it’s super entertaining. Every time my kitty meows (which is fairly often) I pull up MeowTalkCatTranslator and see what it picks up. I noticed that it doesn’t pick up some pretty loud and clear meows, which can be disappointing but it still picks up a decent amount. The other issue I’ve had is that I can’t register my cat, so there’s no way for me to save her translations. I registered with my email so that’s not the issue, hoping a future update will fix this. But MeowTalkCatTranslator definitely has loads of potential and I’ve still been enjoying it despite a couple of hiccups!

Meows translated may not always be correct for your specific cat but I’ve got a ton of spot on translations. It’s also fun to see translations for meows you are unsure of and what you can take away from it. The one recommendation I have is for MeowTalkCatTranslator to allow you to change cats in the history. I had the automatic translation on (for my cat Ben) so it was constantly running. My other cat Ollie also started meowing but it logged under Ben. You can’t change the cat assigned to that recording in the history. You can only change the cat if you initiated a single recording. If that feature could be added that would be great!

Saw that a friend had downloaded MeowTalkCatTranslator and was using it to translate for her cat. I figured I’d give it a try cause sometimes my cats just meow like crazy in the hallway and no idea why.
No matter the result, it would have been interesting/funny to see what they’re thinking. Unfortunately, when I go to sign up, I get a network error, and can’t continue. Will update rating if I can ever get in to use MeowTalkCatTranslator . -edit... as soon as I hit send, I went back to MeowTalkCatTranslator and the network error issues cleared up. Now just waiting for the cats to start meowing to see how well this works.

I had used this for a bit of fun with my cat and it was always enjoyable to see what it would “translate” his meows to. The reason I give five stars though is that MeowTalkCatTranslator has saved all the audio clips. We lost my sweet old man at the beginning of December unexpectedly and it was awful. When we got our new guy I wanted to see what MeowTalkCatTranslator would say about his squeaks and I noticed all the old audio clips were there. It is so sweet to be able to listen to Bob.

I’m new I had hopes of catching my cat saying funny things but your app blurs out the bad things and there’s no way to actually see what’s said or anything given that ima leave three stars but also the vocab it says u can customize it to what seems right and you don’t get options to chose from nor can you wright your own thing in there it is entertaining tho to see my one cat say” I’m in love “and watch my other cat get mad at him.I’d say at least update it to where we get the option to show the bad things because let’s all admit sometimes cats are jerks and some of us are curious as to what they say

Just wanted to say thank you for this wonderful app. My cat just passed away and unlike human, there aren’t too many traces of him to remember by except pics and videos. Listening to his voices when he was excited or resting just makes a huge present for me. So thank you. I hope one day you can advance MeowTalkCatTranslator to diagnose where they feel the pain. Hope such day comes soon for all fur-babies.

This is really cute but could use some improvements which would be easily implemented.
The biggest issue for me is that it sometimes will translate things like “where’s my dad?” Which is annoying because I’m a single cat mom. My cats don’t have a dad and never have and never will. Lol.
I don’t think my cats are actually guilting me about being a single mother. MeowTalkCatTranslator has a “change translation” feature but it doesn’t seem to work at all :( I can try to change the translation as many times as I want. No dice.
That feature needs to be fixed, but also there are other solutions to this:
A) make all of the translations gender neutral [probably the easiest and simplest thing]
B) allow users to customize the translations so they say our name or “mommy” or whatever we prefer [this would be really cute!]

Such a fun app! I love my two kitties and translating our 'conversations' makes me feel more connected to them. Overall, very astute! One of my girls is a major whiner for attention and MeowTalkCatTranslator interprets her cries as 'in pain' so we need more self-selections like, 'I demand your attention', 'Please notice me' and 'I'm bored' so I can help you translate more accurately. My other girl is a squeaker and it's more difficult to hear her but she loves my husband so we were amazed when MeowTalkCatTranslator indicated she is saying, 'Daddy!' or 'Where's my dad?'. So great. Thank you!

For some reason, only some of the meows I record have saved! I set up an account and have made all of my cats profiles, but I’m sad that a lot of the recordings for MeowTalkCatTranslator haven’t saved - especially since my cats aren’t big on meowing so it’s hard to get them to continuously “chat.” I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced this so far, but I have and am not sure how to resolve it. Aside from that, MeowTalkCatTranslator is cute and while it isn’t always correct with translations some of them have been spot-on. Hopefully they have a new update soon!

I took a recording of my cat clearly trying to get out of my arms and sounding angry and the translation said “I feel loved” or something like that, which was totally off. Other meows that clearly sounded happy were translated to negative things like “I’m in pain” or “I don’t feel 100%”. I will keep adjusting the meaning of the sounds and see if it gets more accurate over time but after one day of using it on 5 chatty cats, I’m not impressed. Also wish there were more options for what you can change the meaning of the meow to. Or at least a spot where you can write what you thought it meant.

I’m loving MeowTalkCatTranslator but my only complaint is that when it’s set to “auto-translate” it doesn’t let you assign individual meows to different cats. There should be an option in history or under the individual cat to change who said it. There also needs to be options to add custom translations when using auto-translate, because the options I have to choose from don’t always apply.

Im not completely sure that MeowTalkCatTranslator is accurate, but what I’ve seen so far it seems pretty accurate and i have 2 cats and one day one of them was meowing and they were pawing at the food bowl and i tried out MeowTalkCatTranslator and it translated correctly and translated to “Im hungry” so i do suggest MeowTalkCatTranslator especially if you have a very chatty kitty cat 🐈🐱🌈

(The only reason why i gave this review 4 stars is because I’m not 100% positive that it is completely accurate but I’m sure that it is pretty accurate)

So far I’m loving using MeowTalkCatTranslator. It seems very well built and does a great job picking up meows. 4 stars because the options for manually translating an audio clip seem a bit limited. For example, “I want to play” or “Play with me” would be a very good addition that is currently missing.
Edit: Coming back to say my cat’s profile disappeared after 1 day. Pretty annoying since I had already logged quite a few translations. Hopefully it won’t happen again

I was curious to see what my cat had to say since she basically talks 24/7. So far I’ve found it seems to work. She was meowing and MeowTalkCatTranslator said she was on the hunt for prey. Went to sit by her food plate and as I was cleaning it off MeowTalkCatTranslator said she told me she needed me, she loved me and when I was giving her the food it said come here. So I have no proof as it could be coincidence but does make for a funny interaction if nothing else.

Most of cat’s meows are heard by MeowTalkCatTranslator and then not actually translated. I know it may be because the comparison database is limited but that is disappointing. Would sign up to add my cat to database recording if given the option. Also I think there are lots of websites out there with recorded meows that could be used to improve things. Some vocalizations are breed specific (like my high and squeaky girl is typical for a Maine Coon) so would be nice to have a breed selection option. I also second the previous reviewers suggestion about auto sensitivity AND auto meow detection by running app in background.

Gonna hang in there to see if it gets better, but at this point not worth paying for

MeowTalkCatTranslator could be improved by adding a way to edit the history to remove bad translations. For example, my cat was clearly meowing for food but MeowTalkCatTranslator interpreted the meow as pain and recorded it as such in the history. I had made a sustained recording of multiple meows and MeowTalkCatTranslator did not ask me to verify (or perhaps it asked I missed it.) MeowTalkCatTranslator recorded the multiple meows as pain, these erroneous pain meows are in the history and I can’t see how togo in the the history correct it.

Fun app nonetheless!

I like MeowTalkCatTranslator and think the concept works. However, MeowTalkCatTranslator has an issue when I try to create a cat. It says “oops could not create cat. Check connection”. Or something very similar.. I had a great connection and I tried force closing MeowTalkCatTranslator and trying again and had same issue. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still same issue. I paid for the full version so please fix this.

I’m intrigued by the idea and thought I’d give it a try. I even paid the $.99. When I tried to enter my cat’s info and save it I get a message that something is wrong and check my connection. I know I have a connection or I wouldn’t have been able to download MeowTalkCatTranslator . I couldn’t find an FAQ or anyway to get help. I’m intrigued enough to give two stars instead of one for not being able to save my cat’s info. Once I can save the info and play with MeowTalkCatTranslator I’m sure my stars will increase.

I like the idea. Problem is, a lot of the responses seem wrong. For example, whenever we take our cats food away from him, he starts meowing. MeowTalkCatTranslator seems to think he’s saying “I’m in pain”.

Then for standard default meows, it thinks he’s saying “hello there!”, which I can’t tell if it’s accurate.

The option to choose what I think the right translation was after I choose that the translation is wrong is a little bit weird since I don’t really know what to suggest since I don’t speak cat :-)

One last thing, listening in the background would be a great feature since most of the times it’s hard to catch my cats meow in real time. By the time I open my app, it’s already over

Overall fantastic and spot on with my cats!

My only suggestions are to have ability to delete some, if there’s an accident. Also, I was speaking to my cats and MeowTalkCatTranslator thought I was a cat and recorded it then I couldn’t delete it. I think deleting option would remedy this.

Other than that, MeowTalkCatTranslator is really spot on!

I tapped history and it said to get that history and play back meows and translations purchase app. I purchased. Used MeowTalkCatTranslator for my kitty for a while went to history several times and nothing...

Once one creates a recording of the cat vocalizing, there is no clear indication of how to “translate” it. Also, the vague directions on each page are written in a microscopic italicized font - in GRAY - and presented on a GRAY BACKGROUND. Completely illegible. Some dizzy female app designer apparently thought that the text would be at its most legible like that.

MeowTalkCatTranslator needs a solid re-do and concise instructions need to appear on each screen. At present, it’s worthless.

If you don't pay, it won't translate. Once you do pay, sound clips you recorded before paying are in your history and can't be changed, even if they are wrong. And they are, so far, always wrong. Basically you have to teach MeowTalkCatTranslator what your cat's meows mean, which seems to defeat the purpose.

So I downloaded meowtalk because I saw an article about it and it lives up the the expectations. It’s so funny seeing what my cats are saying I definitely recommend it is a great app and it’s fun to use.

Dear makers of ‘MeowTalk’, MeowTalkCatTranslator is glitching out on me because when I try to add a cat onto it, it says: ‘Oops! Check your connection!’ I check my WiFi, my Internet, and everything is working and there is a strong signal. Please tell me what to do......

Needs a delete or change description for false and committed meow guesses. Would have given it 4 stars with that one feature added. Cannot wait to see how MeowTalkCatTranslator evolves.

Downloaded this and it worked for a while...now it’s not translating the meows. It “stops listening” after my cat meows.

It worked for a few times, without me having to sign up and create an account. But now it simply won’t detect any sound at all. A bug perhaps?

Perpetual errors on being unable to connect to my internet network when everything else in the house is operational.
