It’s fun to play when you are allowed to. However, it has way too much idle time where you are waiting to play. The ‘solution’ is to take pictures of cars. The major problem with this is that it’s required that the license plate is the photo. If this was an app for the DMV, sure… but It’s completely unnecessary for a free game. And yes, the developer says this is encrypted, data is safe, yada yada yada. But we all know mistakes can be made. And in general if the product is free, then your data is used to make up the cost. If the license plate requirement is removed or cars could be driven more frequently, I would be giving this game a much higher rating.
This is a pretty cool idea for a game, and i love the art style and track design. Almost everyone at this point has taken a picture of supercars they search online so they have one of the fastest cars in game, but the game isnt totally ruined by this as it incorporates a lot of races that ban them. The special events are also pretty fun and unique, but ive found that on some monster truck races, the handling of cars simply isnt enough to make it through some turns even at a snails pace. Finally the last thing and probably biggest problem of the game is how the driving works. Each track basically has a fixed line that the car tries to stick to, and the car can go nuts if you move off of it even a little, even when you would befine otherwise. Like there are some tracks where i guess we have to stick to the inside or outside of the track, which is the best option for optimal times, but the fact is its really hard to hit that perfect speed every time and the car can move past the line. But instead of taking a recovery route that anyone could do in a normal racing game, the car tries to desperately stay on the line, even if it means throwing the race.
this game is incredible don’t get me wrong i love the concept of racing cars that you see in the real world. My only problem is that there isn’t a ranked mode that starts from scratch and you have to unlock cars. I would like that because you would be able to build up your own garage and race to earn money to buy cars. Another thing i would find cool is a complete revamp of “CUSTOMIZATION.” it would be absolutely incredible to have a vinyl system almost like forza horizons. You could also make car parts (car decor) available to buy with cash but also allow things like under glow window tint and suspension travel. One thing that would be incredible is most definitely incredible would be a drag racing mode where you can drive any car but go in a strait line and have to shift at the right time. I hope you guys work on at least one of these, it would make my day. 📐 🚗💨
Hello, I don’t leave reviews that often but I just wanted to say I love your game and especially the spot mechanic. For me personally I think the problem is the it’s connected to Wi-Fi all the time so even if you come across a Ferrari in a parking lot with no Wi-Fi you cannot access it and the Ferrari is lost forever. I think you should add a feature to access something like the spotting mechanic which does not need the Wi-Fi so then If you didn’t want to race you can still spot that Ferrari and go back home and win.
This game is super fun and I love the concept of getting new cars by taking pictures of them in the real world! HOWEVER there is a massive problem where when I take a picture of a car with all of it in frame, it says that a car isn’t detected. When I first got this game it worked perfectly and I had all my family’s cars in the game. Please fix this as this defeats the purpose of the game in my opinion if the camera doesn’t work.
I’ve been loving the game so far and love the concept of it. Helps to keep me out of the house a bit.
My only issue is that I don’t think that the conversion from Kph to Mph is accurate. It will state it correct in the stats of the car, but doesn’t seem to when in a race. For example, 260 kph is 187 mph. The vehicle I have capable of that is only topping out at 117 mph on a universal track, and not 187. Doesn’t effect the gameplay too much as the times for both end up being about the same.
This game is amazing. Absolutely one of the most engaging, fair, and rewarding apps out there. Basically it’s Pokemon Go! but for cars.
My only complaint is that the player base has clearly taken to googling pictures of Aston Martins, Bugattis, and Lambos to get a leg up on the competition. I don’t see a great way for the company to get around this, so your options are to lose to cheaters with faster cars and keep your dignity, drive to the nearest Super Car dealer (2 hours for me) for some IRL scans, or sell your soul by googling like a jerk. I chose the 1st.
I’ve been trying to get a few cars like a Toyota AE86,this is my favorite car and I try to get it in all games possible however when I took a picture of one the game kept changing it into something it wasn’t and made it look like a sedan but I’ll keep playing and see what else I can do other then that I find no problems and this has a lot of potential
This game is addicting and has potential to be one of the most popular automotive games, but it seems there’s quite a few players out there that see 17 Bugattis every day (they’re cheating to get the fastest car). Also more variety across car styles would be cool, for example the game gave me a C8 Corvette when I scanned my own real C6 Corvette, but I expect more cars will be added in the future. Will definitely update to 5 stars when they work out a solution to the nitty gritty stuff. But as a new game it is very enjoyable and they’re on the right path.
I actually really like this game.
The idea is a sort of “Pokémon go” made easy which I love because it makes finding a new car that much more rewarding.
The gameplay is VERY SIMPLE but fun nonetheless and the games go by in literal seconds.
All this basically turns the game into the ultimate “on the go/morning commute” game.
This game has TONS of promise and I’m excited to see what’s next.
vvvv(Ok game Devs this ones for you)vvvv
I have found though some scientific research that you can take pictures of basically any car on the internet with a license plate and unlock it. I feel like it would be extremely difficult to make a scanning system that would be able to tell the difference, but maybe you guys can think of something idk. Maybe something depth related since it would be the difference of a 2d image to a 3D field?
Other than that I haven’t really experienced any sort of issues/glitches/hacks
At first I was skeptical because you’re control is limited to just throttle. However, the skill ceiling is incredibly high and driving feels fun and competitive. Car customization is absolutely incredible.
My only critique is that the same cars with higher base stats dominate most categories, so many of your cars are only viable for brand specific races or quick races, while the meta cars become the only ones you use if you want to be at the top of the timing board
Edit: this has been balanced!
The gameplay itself is quite fun to play. A minute to learn, but hours to master. The car customization is simple, but it’s enough for me. I do wish there were more ways to get cosmetics though, as it is very challenging to get first on the special races due to other players at your level having significantly faster cars than you for some reason.
One issue I have is with the number of tools vs gears you get. I have several cars already after not much play time that have 2-300 gears that I can’t touch, because you earn tools at a much slower rate, and upgrades can cost 15 gears, and 1500 tools. I wish there was something to do with all of the spare gears that I have, because at this rate, I will never be able to use them.
My other major gripe with the game is the daily missions. Most of them are absolutely impossible to complete due to where I live. The missions ask you to take pictures of specific manufacturers, some of which include Opel, Vauxhall, Skoda, and Renault. None of these manufacturers sell cars here in the states in any major capacity. It would be nice to have the missions factor in where you live and what cars are possible to find.
I just downloaded this game today and I already love it, the concept and idea is really unique and I’ve never seen another game like it. Despite me living out in the country, which makes it hard to find and scan cars, it’s still very fun however I’m not really able to find the higher end sports cars. If there was a suggestion to be made, I’d give the idea of maybe a weekly shop where you can buy those higher end cars with the in-game Greens currency since it seems to not be used on more than a few things. But overall, a super fun game to play during daily free time and great idea!
Yeah, I am ancient and have played every driving sim there is. Seriously.
What we have here is special. It is true to what racing is all about, without being too technical.
You do not steer, but you DO manage simplified real world physics with the gas and brake. These are not totally robo-cars, they are players actual laps, and it is a RIOT to snatch 1st place in the last minutes of a race by learning the track, watching your competition and friends, and try again.
Then there is the whole Polemom stlye collector side. TBH I was so enamored with the basic racing I didnt GET the Spot side for a few days. Turns out you take photos of license plates to collect. As I live in the boonies, I have collected from my own garage, the people at my kids schools, and the Internet. Thank goodness it allows some Internet photos or I would only have hatchbacks and minivans. I am still not totally comfortable taking photos of strangers cars and glad you can buy them with in game creds.
I like almost everything from the art to the playstyle to the customization. Just needs another 20 tracks and I will spend a LOOOOOT of time here.
Well done, bravo, now a version with weapons please!
Spot racers is one of the best racing games I’ve ever played. The graphics are cartoony and the make the game pop! The music makes it feel laid back and relaxing. The game is simple, and doesn’t need to be played all of the time. I think it’s really clever that you can take a picture off any car or truck and the game will convert it into a cartoony version of it. I recommend this game to anyone who doesn’t play video games that much, but still find them fun.
this game is so cool, fun, and simple. i just love games like this, it gives me a "art of rally" feel. although there are some glitches with trying to recover after spinning out or getting some stuck on a edge, this game is such a fun game.
i really hope you guys frequently update more and also keep the game alive, like pixel car racer kinda did. also one suggestion, let us make our own racing line on certain tracks, for example: you go into a little hub like on the menu for garage and stuff, and choose the track you want to fix the line on. you could make the line anyway you want so you can get that sweet feel of cornering perfection. you could also make it so you can shortcut in certain places, that would be horrible.
anyway i love to see games like this, thank you so much for it.
Just wanted to shout out the developers on this game as I’ve been hooked on it for awhile now. I have 2 suggestions for a future update. 1 the handling with the vehicles in monster truck mode badly needs to be fixed, It’s so bad that any track you have to do that on makes it super annoying even when you have a car that the handling is almost maxed out because of the tires going all crazy all the time. The second suggestion would be to have a way to trade in or break down Customization parts that you don’t like or use for like tools or make an amount system after so many parts broken down you can get better quality customization parts. Have different tier parts be worth a different amount when broken down so it gives everyone a chance to get sweet looking stuff for their cars. Still love the game and will keep playing everyday like I do!
you should add more cars I scanned a Nissan nv and it just said Nissan it did not recognize a gulf Porsche either
I think it would be neat if we could sort the cars in our garage by rarity, cumulative stats, and cumulative base stats
More precise color finder
A list of all car models we have collected and the real life pictures to accompany them
And maybe a new game mode with full third person driving controls
When choosing a SpotRacer for a race, can you either make it so it’s not so sensitive when scrolling through our cars or add an extra “Are you sure you want to race with this Car?” Pop up?
There have been too many races where I’m swiping through my list of cars and it counts my swiping as me selecting a car and then starts the race. Please address this issue.
Currently playing SpotRacers on iOS 15.4.1 on an iPhone 13 Pro Max.
To the amazing seven-person team behind this game:
It’s very clear that that SpotRacers is a love letter to cars and the people who love them. And we are so grateful. Every aspect of it has care put into it. It's original, beautifully rendered, incredibly elegant while somehow letting the player play however they want...it's an achievement. It's addicting without disrespecting the player which is VERY rare. It's also somehow very ZEN!? How did you do that?
Hats off. Thanks for all the great and continual addons too!
