PiholeRemote is a great way to view and manage your pi-hole. The design choices make everything you need up at the front of PiholeRemote and it blends in well with iOS. You can view the tail of a particular IP address really easily and the details on each dns request are really helpful, allowing you to easily create blacklists. The widgets are a nice touch. So far, everything I need. There is room for improvement though; PiholeRemote could be a game-changer. Group management seems to be ignored completely, including adlists. A built in whois lookup or information database about particular domains would be helpful, something similar to Little Snitch. If those changes were made, and a few small app bugs, it would be an excellent app. This is still an amazing app though, and I'm happy I found it; it will be used a lot! Thanks!

The developer has put in a lot of effort in PiholeRemote and it shows. For a Pi-hole noob PiholeRemote makes it so much easier to check what is being blocked and what’s not, making it so much easier to white list or blacklist as needed without needing to boot up my pc and logging into the web interface, granted that doesn’t take too much effort but PiholeRemote makes it so much easier. The plots of the allowed and blocked queries are great, I like to see how %blocked goes up during weekends vs weekdays and on a workday in the evening vs during the day. Overall, it’s a great app and I recommend it to all Pi-hole owners.

This is a fantastic app for controlling pi-hole. You can tell that the developer put a ton of work into this—even the smallest things are well designed, like the cool animation when you refresh the query graph. One small bug I noticed though: sometimes, for no apparent reason, when you tap and hold on a domain and select “add to whitelist” it will not automatically populate the domain field on the following “add a domain” screen with the domain you selected and you will have to manually type it in. I haven’t noticed any pattern as to when this happens. Otherwise, a fantastic app :)

It’s hard to believe PiholeRemote is free. The developer has a tip option as an in-app-purchase and it’s well worth contributing. I never thought about how convenient it would be to manage pi-hole from my phone let alone my watch. PiholeRemote started with basic features to view status and disable/enable. But, it didn’t stop there. Soon, there were features for viewing statistics, a Watch app, Siri Shortcuts, managing lists, and more. Now, there are iOS 14 widgets. This developer really cranks out features. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

First of all, PiholeRemote is beautiful and simple. The design language is clean and functional.

I have used Pi-Hole for the past 3 years or so and while the web based dashboard was fine, it has always been a bit of a hassle to login and poke through menus to do things. PiholeRemote makes really good use of the Pi-Hole API so that I am always signed in and I have quick access to disable blocking and view top queries/clients.

One thing I would like to see is the Query Log. I am not sure if this is possible with the API though.

Love PiholeRemote ; I use it all the time for controlling network traffic. Feature request: add enable/disable buttons to the blacklist/whitelist entries? Maybe even a button to enter/exit a mode where the Pi-hole collectively enables/disables multiple addresses at once? I’m thinking like parental controls mode where we can lock down certain sites without turning off the entire Pi-hole. The Pi-hole web UI has these enable/disable buttons, and I think it would be a great addition to your app.

I really like the features that this pi hole client has over others, but for some reason, it won’t connect to my pi hole. Other apps (pi man) works just fine so I know the problem lies within PiholeRemote itself. It’s really unfortunate because I like this one over the others. If the devs (or dev?) can fix this, I will 100% send a fat tip your way.

Update: went from 2 to 5 stars because my I’m stupid. Make sure your pi hole is updated to v5+...

Long time user here — I first picked up PiholeRemote soon after its release, and while it has always been a great way to easily manage Pi-Hole, it is constantly being updated with smart new features. Featuring a beautiful, intuitive UI, this is simply a must for any PH admin. The ability to manage everything without needing to rely on the admin webpage alone makes it worthwhile, but I can’t recommend this enough!

While other apps charge you, PiholeRemote was awesome for pi hole stats. It has a lot of features, so try it. The only cons were: There seems to be a whitelist/blocklist feature, which sound cool, but it didn’t seem to fully work. The blocked domains showed up, but were never blocked. If I added through the web, it would block it immediately. It would be nice to have a disable button mode as well in safari. The widgets are cool, I just wish there was a widget with colors based on what’s been allowed and blocked. Other than that, great app!

For some reason when I try looking at the statistics it tells me Pi-hole can’t be reached and I have to put the api token all over again. This was working flawless for me a few weeks ago I don’t understand why I have to keep reconfiguring the api token. It said something about privacy settings but I’m pretty sure I left it unchanged and now this keeps happening every time I open PiholeRemote

PiholeRemote is great! I much prefer it over the web interface when using Pi-hole on my iPhone, and the home screen widget and Apple Watch apps are nice too.

But I've got a feature request: could we get support for long-term data? I'd like to be able to see that in-app instead of having to sign in to the web interface.

I’ve used PiholeRemote for a little while now and I’ve been super happy with how easy it is to use and set it up. I’m also a fan of the widgets. The latest update, which brought some more features that I’m enjoying, even fixed a bug which was starting to annoy me. Overall, great app and a wonderful developer. Thanks for all the work your doing and for keeping it free.

I wish the iPad design was a bit more intuitive. The menus are small (designed for an iPhone) and having the side bars on the iPad app confusing.

Just something I hope the developer looks into when he has the time.

I continue to be amazed by PiholeRemote. Tiny footprint, simple and compact, but extremely detailed. Every update provides more usefulness. I was skeptical at first because the PiHole admin screen gave me everything I needed, but PiholeRemote has grown on me and I use it more than the admin console. I love how I can disable and re-enable both of my instances from one spot. This is a 5-star app!

This is the best PiHole management app out there and it gets even better with every new release. Not only is it packed full of features, but it looks beautiful and feels great to use. Plus, there are a number of great widgets and all of the customization options really give you a lot of control.

If I could give six stars, I would.

Best app for Pi-hole for sure. The only thing missing is group management. I have a group for my kids only and enable and disable them often which means I have to control from the web interface and not PiholeRemote.

Group management control a future feature?

I can’t edit or add a device, as PiholeRemote crashes when pressing either option. It also crashes when pressing “Help or Feedback” + some other options like certain entries or lists. App was great before the last 2/3 updates, I haven’t been able to add a device since before. Otherwise it’s a fantastic app that I hope I can start using again soon.

If you or family members are very technical - PiholeRemote is awesome for quick management for the pihole. Sometimes quicker using the phone to temporary disable rather than the browser on a desktop / laptop.

I run two Pi-holes. A primary and secondary. With PiholeRemote I can see statistics from both one in place.

The life changing aspect is that you can combine multiple Pi-hole into one “home”. This allows you to disable all of them at once without having to disable each independently.

Updating my original review, I don’t review many apps at all. PiholeRemote is great. It’s a fair price, does what it says, that’s all I ask in an app. Seriously if you have a Pi-hole setup this is a must have. You think I’m being facetious, I am not, this is the best thing for your Pi-hole deploy since sliced Gouda.

Such a great app! Pi-hole is so powerful, but it isn’t easy to disable it quickly when something doesn’t work. You can make iOS shortcuts to ssh or open a web link, but PiholeRemote is much easier and you see nicely laid out stats too. I’d love to see iCloud sync for the settings though so I don’t have to add my settings on each device. Thanks!

This is a fantastic utility for monitoring PiHole instances. Since I have a home network and a remote network connected via VPN, with a total of three PiHole installations, this utility makes it extremely easy to check the statistics on all three instances from one screen.

This is super handy. I can’t see my wife logging into the web interface but this will give her easy access to disable things temporarily. I, the power user, love the easy access to the stats, too. Nice Apple Watch app to boot. Well done!

This is extremely convenient for managing two instances at once. Using this makes it much easier to briefly disable both simultaneously. Great app! It would be nice if it eventually allows more than 2 instances.

Super simple. Easy to manage my pihole! Quick access to the disable functionality when I need to access a website that pihole blocks due to trackers/ads.

For those that know and use Pi-Hole, we have not seen an ad in years. The ability to disable, enable, and see your network stats on an easy to use app is amazing. Though PiholeRemote is free the dev deserves massive thanks.

This is the best app I have found for monitoring PiHole. They were quick to respond when I sent a question and even implemented what I had asked for into PiholeRemote .

This application does exactly what it needs to do and does it well. Great application overall and makes network-wide adblocking a breeze.

I’m so glad i found PiholeRemote. It is exactly what the Pi-Hole app needed. I can monitor all the settings and disable the service if needed even if I’m not home. Works perfect.

So much better than the default mobile-optimized web interface.
