Cool tech but prices are wildly off-base

Far better UI than the official Discogs app. Has potential for collectors, but pricing shortcomings are present.

As a professional buyer/seller of physical music, the prices listed are heavily inflated and unrealistic. Whatever the math, the most common records that are yard sale rejects at $1 or less are shown to have $5-7 value. For those digging out a family member’s collection and thinking they have a jackpot, the realistic retail value is likely closer to 20-25% of the estimated value (without condition) and the entire collection as a lot (collector or retail store) will likely only find a buyer at about 10% of what RecordScanner tells you it’s worth. I’ve seen a lot of disappointed folks when the my see that their Jim Reeves record is not the winner they thought it was from the info in RecordScanner .

Another stupid cash grab

I will admit, it is very easy to use, and I was enjoying my time with RecordScanner, until I reached 30 records scanned, then it said I had to buy one of those stupid premium plans to scan more. I haven’t even gotten very close to scanning all my records and now I can’t even do that without paying. If you aren’t willing to pay for this, DO NOT DOWNLOAD RecordScanner! I uninstalled because I am not willing to pay and I was hoping I could actually have a good experience with RecordScanner, because I was wondering how much my collection was worth, and it does give the prices of them, but it all get ruined by the STUPID PREMIUM. Would not recommend 👎

Great App, Just Minor Things

Overall RecordScanner is great, my only problem is that after you scan 30 vinyls it makes you pay for a subscription to add more to your collection, that’s the only thing I’m iffy about. Other than that I’m loving RecordScanner so far!

Fantastic app

The best app on the market to track your vinyl collection. Best interface, connection to discord database, ability to design and mark your own shelves for storage, notes, record of purchase or market value of the collection. No glitches. I would pay three times as much for custom tags and Mac/Win version.

UPDATE: I still think it is a cool app. But lack of tagging became a deal breaker for me. Having almost 1000 releases I cannot manage it effectively anymore without tags. I had to switch to Discography where you have a powerful tag management system.

UPDATE 2: Folks have designed tags, and is awsome now. changed to 5*

So well designed it was shocking

Skip trying the others. This is the one. Period.
It is so well designed developers of other apps, even those not related to records, should really look at the design and use of RecordScanner. It will help them do a better job in their own apps.
I have seen a review concerned with the accuracy of the pricing. If this is a big concern keep in mind that you can edit the price in RecordScanner . I don’t know if there is a source for pricing others use, but this is not a concern I have at all.
If the subscription model turns you off, you can always find an inferior app that does not use this model. For now I am using the quarterly option.
By the way, I decided to subscribe after scanning about 3 or 4 albums. It is that good. I love the Cabinets. The innovative way to move records from one to another. Once you know it is easy peasy.
If there was one feature I could ask for it would be the ability to import from CSV file.
Congratulations to the devs! Job well done!

Record scanner

I really like how this works. One good feature is when it does not recognize a record you can rescan it and it program will eventually find it.
Sometimes just a partial scan of just a part of the cover will work. I would like to be able to load the data into a spreadsheet for more detailed editing. I am scanning both cd’s and records and I would eventually like to separate that data. I also want to know what value I am seeing. If I sell would that be my asking price?

Record Scanner is the BEST

I’ll make this short and sweet. If you have a record collection then you will LOVE RecordScanner! If you plan to ( not to sound morbid) , leave your collection to a Loved one, you owe it to them to use RecordScanner, and give them a guide and a tool to use to ask a fair price for the collection.

Works great after trying what the developer said

After trying what the developer said, it works and found one the first try however the subscription turned me off to using it

Easily the best I’ve used!

This is easily the best experience I’ve had with an app of this type. Accurate and easy, and does exactly what it supposed to—and it does that extremely well.
