I don’t recommend TranslateKeyboard, or this developer really. Everything I’ve seen from this developer has been kinda shady and TranslateKeyboard was just another reassurance of this. I have listed my issues with this program below:
1. This is a clunky app. While using the keyboard, it pulls up a little space where it’ll translate what you type into your chosen language, and while it sounds nice, it’s set up in a way that makes it difficult to type because you have to look around a lot and it just doesn’t feel good. This is a great concept, but it’s really hard to get it right.
2. The in app purchases are shady. As soon as you launch TranslateKeyboard , it asks you to buy the premium subscription. Every. Time. Even if you close the window and come back a few seconds later, it asks you to buy the subscription. It’s very annoying and kinda scary that the program is pushing you buying it so much, because this goes along with reason #3
3. For it to work properly, it has to be able to read and collect every word you type. This sounds harmless at first, because it has to be able to collect the data on what you type so it can translate words and not just letters, but when you take into account the fact that this thing could also be collecting your personal data when you type them (name, bank details, passwords, etc) and the fact that the program pushes a purchase so much, it becomes very shady, especially considering the fact that the developer has not provided any information about which data is tracked or not.
For your own safety, I suggest just suffering with the external translator apps and dictionaries. It doesn’t seem worth the risk for a clunky app that is frustrating to use.
