PGA Championships Official App Reviews

Only golf major app to not show live video of the tourney. Can’t even watch live through the PGA live subscription or my ESPN subscription. You need to buy a new ESPN+ subscription to watch. I wish I could give it zero stars.

Shot tracking feature doesn’t work well. Slow to update.

Big companies with so much money and no clue how to build software. Quit outsourcing and hire a kid from college who could build a better app. Your architecture; data layer; and performance all have major bugs. The most important feature- THE LEADERBOARD- does not work!!!! Where is the 0 star rating ? App is a brick

If you are a golf fan and think PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp is like The Masters or every other sports app in that it will let you view the content of its namesake, you are going to be sorely disappointed.

PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp serves only to push ads between still images with a scoreboard near the top, y’know...that thing every phone and assistant can give you on demand access to already.

The only point of PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp is to peddle ESPN at you and exploit your love of the sport to coerce you into opening your wallet for a potentially THIRD time if you’ve already paid for services like PGA and Cable.

Shameful and I feel sorry for the developers for needing work and money enough to have to peddle this greedy package.

If I could give it zero stars, I would.

Why is PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp so much worse than the masters app? I only need you 4 days a year and this is what I get? No green view is insane. Why can’t we list the shots on every hole? If I’m not tuned in to PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp that crashes every 20 seconds I miss shots and have to try and figure out what happened from a hole map I can’t zoom in on? The PGA tour app stinks and PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp is somehow worse than it. Get it together PGA Championship, you’re better than this.

Will not load. Delete and reinstall sometimes loads for one use. after that says Http error and doesn’t work. When it does load the information is not current. I’ve used PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp for years. Previously excellent. This year terrible. This experience is over all four days on both WiFi and cellular on two different devices.

If this is the guide for the championship then why not have the listing of who and where golfers are on the course for Monday-Wednesday? There were no pairing sheets at the tournament and very few message boards to follow golfers. The developers made PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp sound like the must have for the championship but you failed miserably.

PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp is only needed for 4 days per year. They have 361 days to get it right and it’s useless. 3rd round is underway and you can’t even open the leaderboard to see scores. Not to mention it is about 20 minutes behind even when it is functioning. Call the people that developed the Masters app and they can show you how it’s done.

Downloaded this thinking I was going to be able to watch featured groups or get some other type of telecast or audio. There’s none of that here ... only news and leaderboard action that you can get elsewhere via your existing golf apps. So from a user perspective, there is really no reason for PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp....

Sorry this is double bogey PGA, hardly any news content, no interview recaps, 12 photos total from morning and afternoon rounds each? There are 99 players, where are the pics, oh and make sure to show a pic of a golfer up close and say contestant? Not even the dudes name? How about some new upgrades to this site stat!

.. but you guys need to fire whoever you paid to make PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp. And if you did it in house, you need to fire yourself. Poor score updating, shot tracker is slow, always loading or an error. It made me want to quit following golf. Wish you guys all best though

Seriously disappointed in lack of real time viewing options and ESPN+ partnership. For me, it’s kind of worthless without the featured group offerings and other cool viewing options that the other majors’ apps offer.

The shot tracker is nearly useless because I can’t even see where the flag is. While waiting for a golfer to hit, I got an “Item not available” error and had to close PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp . PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp is FAR behind similar apps but the tournament forces you to use it unless you want to follow your favorite golfers on a 10 minute delay somewhere else. DUMB.

Out of all the Major golf apps this is by far the worst no live coverage of play so why have PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp . They need to take a look at the Master’s app all kinds of live coverage to watch

PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp looks nice, but missing some features. Need a search bar on the leaderboard screen to find a specific golfer. Right now, you have to just scroll and hope you see them in the list. Also need the ability to sort by the “Today” column to see today’s best scores

The shot trackers on PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp is ahead of the score? I often see when I click on a players name to expand their scorecard that their scorecard has a score but the players score on the leaderboard isn’t updated? Why aren’t these in sync?

Update overnight Thursday at least fixed the hole and a half delay in the scoring. But still not much use other than that

From the Desk of the Commissioner,

After formal inquiry by Membership has been made into recent updates to the PGA Chanpionship app, the Office has determined that any update to PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp was pushed unnecessarily by PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp Store and as an inconvenience to Players.

In interest of fairness, this determination was made based on the following factors.

▪️Upon review in App Store, the Commissioner actually had not updated either and no interruptions were experienced prior to update, nor required to continue.

▪️ No players reported issue with PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp prior or after update, aside from the noted in which from inquiry was launched.

▪️ No reviews in PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp Store referenced any issues.

As such, the update report of “Bug fixes and improvement enhancements” were considered thereby null and void.

As a result of this inquiry, please advise of this formal complaint filed on behalf of the Club for this unnecessary inconvenience.

The Club considers this matter now resolved. Please kindly inquire with the Commissioner’s Office with any questions or requests for further information.

Why does every tournament have its own app?

This seems like a complete was of time and money from a software development perspective and it’s not a great user experience to download a new app each week.

I’m not getting audio for any of the videos on PGAChampionshipsOfficialApp .
