Great Potential!

I LOVE Animal Crossing and I really appreciate the efforts the developers have gone through to make this this app!

I rated it 4 stars for now because there is incorrect information in some places, like the bagworm, as well as some wildlife straight up missing, like the sturgeon and no fossil section. I paid to remove ads to support Companion , and I'm confident that the developers will update the missing and/or incorrect information.

I'll definitely update this review and rating to 5 stars when all the information is correct. It seems like the New Lead wildlife is what's in this currently, which is probably mainly the same and suffices for now.

I also assume that the countdown will be removed because clearly that points to Companion was being released before the game released, so I'm sure there is an update coming soon for that. But I would also like to see, second priority to fully accurate information, is a tightened and cleaned up interface and to remove the slide/fade in from the right for text. I like the usage of the Animal Crossing font, but I personally think Companion would just look nicer with a more basic font style that's maybe white or yellow with perhaps a brown or wooden looking background.

Keep up the great work!

Love it!

I had never played an Animal Crossing game before New Horizons came out, so Companion is very helpful! I like being able to know what fish/bugs are in season, where I can catch them, and what shadow size they are. I also really like the recipe section that shows where you can obtain certain recipes. The only complaint I would have is that I think the rarity of certain fish/bugs is incorrect. For example, it lists the common butterfly and yellow butterfly as “very rare” or “rare” but they are actually very common. Companion has great potential, though!

Still so much improvement to do

I used to use a this app app for New Leaf which was really good so I was excited when I found Companion. It is kind of similar. Overall Companion looks really unprofessional and unpolished, but I can get over that. What I can’t get over is the fact that I can’t go to other pages within a 15 second span without getting an ad that has such small X symbols that when I press them they take me on a journey through my safari and Companion store. I’m sorry, I know y’all need to make money, but the amount of ads on Companion is astronomically bad. This wouldn’t be as much of a problem, maybe, if you could check off your bugs, fish, and villagers from the list and not have to click on each individual one. I’m sure the developers are just thirsty for money though, as is the rest of them on Companion store.

Used to be good...

At first this was the only ACNH app on the store. I could tell a lot was left over from ACNL, but info was scarce. Now there’s plenty of info out, but much isn’t making its way into Companion. Further, it seems like the devs have given up. The calendar doesn’t have confirmed events, the countdown still has bunny day, and some pictures (fish/bugs)are cut off. I like the social “app”, but there’s no time so you never know how long someone’s island is open. Often I type in codes to find out their island has been closed. It would be nice to have an open and close time so people can list a schedule. That way we know when the island is open and when it’s closed. Adding a list for flowers and fossils would be nice too.

Minor, but frustrating issues

Pretty good app overall, but it is missing at least 1 villager if not more. It doesn't have Megan the bear who moved into my town, and i don’t know if this is the only missing character. Otherwise it is pretty helpful, just frustrating that i ran into a fairly big thing so early on. Also with the wildlife function it'd be nice to be able to separate between your normal island and a nook miles island, because when you select “catchable right now” it blends together things you can get on your island and the nook miles one. If there was another check mark to select catchable on nook miles island so the things on your island didn't coincide it would be very helpful!

Great App (Edited)

I’m a huge fan of animal crossing games, and most of the information about bugs and fish are accurate! The only problem is, is MOST bugs and fish, hopefully they will do research and find out what time and what place fish and bugs spawn. They don’t have all information due to not being the correct month and they can’t get the information (Although they can skip there time on the switch 🤔) I do like the idea of using reminders inside Companion , it’s very useful for a villagers birthday or a reminder to pick weeds.

Great app, but needs more

Companion is a great way for me to keep track of bugs and fish I’ve donated to the museum. As far as I can tell, it has all of them listed. I feel, however, that it would be a nice addition to have fossils and art listed as well so it’s easier to keep up with what I’ve donated and what is still missing without having to make my own checklists for them. Also updating the calendar and events is pretty important if you’re going to include the feature.

Just got ten new friends in one day!

I love Companion! It allows you to visit 5 star islands and more! I just downloaded Companion this morning and I love it! Just today I made new friends from London,Ohio,Washington, and even France! If your like me and in quarantine this allows you to talk to ppl. I also love how it tells you the personality and birthday of any villager! It also tells you some news coming to ACNH but it is a little outdated. I love Companion but some of the critter info is wrong. Still a great app and I recommend it!

Would love to see grow!!!

Companion is so cute! It’s very handy and although it seems like a bit of a work-in-progress, it’s easy to use and overall a very good idea with a lot of potential. I plan on paying to remove ads to hopefully support further development of Companion . I’ll definitely be using it a lot!!! Thank you thank you thank you, developers!!! I’m really looking forward to seeing Companion progress over time ❤️☺️

AMAZING

I FaceApp is very helpful when I’m playing animal Crossing all the apps are a little annoyed like the ads are a little annoying but it’s really good you can skip them but those games have them I think Companion is really good to keep track of everything and I like how they cute villagers check your turn up prices in your dream pad a lot of stuff in events and stuff so I think that’s really cool

Great app!

A big props to the team working on this. Companion has amazing features and it’s not an easy feat to get accurate info so quickly when the game is so new. Paid to get rid of ads, which is worth it! Still some kinks to work out, but it will be well worth it.

Note to developers: having a ‘submit feedback’ form in app would help a ton! Don’t necessarily want to give a rating less than five, but need a way to give the feedback. Thanks for the work on it!

Needs Updating

I LOVE having Companion on my phone. I used the New Leaf one and this one is almost just as great, except for the fact that there is incorrect information or missing information. That's why I'm only putting 4 stars. I caught a Sturgeon and went to add it here, but you guys don't even have it listed as a possible fish to catch in this game. The other information that needs fixing is what's able to be caught at certain times, months, and days.

I wasn’t going to write a review but...

I was not planning on writing this review until I saw all of the hard work put into Companion. I can save my favorite villagers to their own list, find out what bugs/fish are catchable, and even check crafting recipes! I can even mark items I obtain during my quest to gather them all! I cant wait to see what Companion will become in the future.

By

Good but needs update

Edit: it has been updated and it’s a very handy guide. Keeping track of what you catch and what neighbors you have is a lot easier. Now if it’d have a fossil list, as well, it’d be 5 stars easy.

Only thing wrong with Companion is that the newer bugs/fish were not added yet, which was what I was using Companion for. I caught a paper kite butterfly and couldn’t check it off because it wasn’t there. Please add the new creatures and I’ll up the star count.

Doesn’t work.

There’s no way to select what villagers you have in your town. You can select favorites but in my opinion favorites should be different than who is in your town. That is possible on the good apps that were made for A New Leaf.

Trying to check off things I’ve caught. When you check the spot that says “Show only what’s catchable right now” yet I have several fish and bugs that are catchable right now that are not showing up.

There’s no way to check off items that you’ve acquired. That was available in the good apps that were made for A New Leaf which made it easier to decide if you’re going to buy something or not so you don’t buy doubles accidentally.

Companion is very cheap looking. It doesn’t look professional. It looks thrown together.

Ads are too frequent and annoying for such a minuscule app.

Great potential

I was going to write a long review saying how I love it but a lot of information, especially in the critterpedia is wrong but, DayFed420 beat me to the punch, and said everything I would want to have said. So I will just say refer to his post, and I’m confident that the creators of Companion will update it in the following weeks. I have already paid to get rid of ads to support the, and I look forward to this being an amazing source to help on New Horizons.

Great concept! Currently unusable to me

I downloaded this mainly for the critter checklist, which seems great— except for one issue. In my AC game I artificially set my location to the Southern Hemisphere— but there no way to alter that in Companion (it must automatically set based on location). So when I click “only display in season fish/bugs”, I get stuck with the northern hemisphere :( would it be possible to add in a manual switch to this setting? It would be nice to toggle it as well (since I can hunt in my friends islands which are Northern Hemisphere)

Great but needs some updates!

I love Companion , but it’s not very accurate at the moment. The times where fish shows up confuses me because it’ll have each month laid out and then say “Island: year round” so I’m not sure if that’s because it’s from New Leaf, or what. Some fish and insects aren’t on the list yet, such as the Anchovy. I’d also love to be able to check off what fossils I’ve gotten, as well. I know the game has just come out, but I eagerly await an update!

Good App but

I’m trying to add a reminder for Canberra’s birthday but it crashes every time I click it. I did it for frobert just fine but not Canberra. Also I think the countdown section should be replaced and the icon for villagers is a little ominous and creepy in my opinion. But otherwise this is a very useful app! The 2 star is just because of the crashing problem. Once fixed I will edit to 5 stars. I have a fancy new phone and lots of space so it’s definitely not my phones problem. Also no other villager that I’ve tried is affected just Canberra so far.

Need a few review

Companion is good just need to fix certain prices on certain animals you catch to sell in the game and update certain animals that is not in the guide yet as well. Also the times and date on certain fish or bugs are off a bit as well. But in over all it makes it easier for me to look up what I’m missing in the game and what I’ve caught already.
