Cap Patrol Reviews

This program is pretty much a mirror of GHIN , that your club already pays for. The mistakes made trying to adjust the persons GHIN needs to be reviewed carefully by the clubs purchasing this program. Our club had specific golfers that the handicap committee thought would be picked out by cap , but they weren’t. The handicap system has all the tools to “catch “ all your “ sandbags and cheaters”, if the handicap committee would just have the guts to implement them.

Unfortunately our club is going to CapPatrol. If any other clubs are considering it, don’t, read the reviews and believe the warnings. It is impossible to even set up a sign in to begin. If an app can’t even do the easy things like sign in, I can only imagine how bad the rest of CapPatrol is. Stay away.

This program was created by individuals who only received participation trophies there entire life. A true handicap is not good enough, if you win, crap patrol punishes you. Every member of my club hates it.

I e enjoyed opening up CapPatrol and teasing friends but it often just stops working. Will try to reload one more time then giving up!

Explanations of the hot and cold meter are poor. Hard to understand rankings. Tried to odds of shooting a score and app doesn’t let me put in an index unless I close app and reopen. Also does not allow for entering positive index (ex. +index).

CapPatrol is based on the misuse of numerical data to fit the sole developer’s desired outcomes.
The mathematical formulas and assumptions have not been independently reviewed by mathematicians or statisticians.
The developer of this product is a self-anointed ‘sports analytics professional’ with no background or certification in math or statistics.

Wanted to register but it won’t accept my verified GHIN. Tried to reach out to developer but have not heard back? Has CapPatrol been abandoned? I see this has been an issue for over two years… ?

Sounds like a great concept! I can’t comment on how it works, since it has never recognized my GHIN so I can’t actually get into CapPatrol . You would think that the developers would have fixed this by now.

Concept is good - technical development is bad.
I've been trying to download app and it's either one thing or another.
Before agreeing to use CapPatrol for your club - WAIT until they get their technical shortcomings fixed.

Like others have said, won’t recognize GHIN number. Waste of time, don’t bother.

I just downloaded CapPatrol and set up an account. Every time I try to register my GHIN CapPatrol crashes. According to other reviews this looks like it’s been happening for a long time. Disappointed to say the least.

Couldn’t even explore CapPatrol . Tried to create a profile and CapPatrol wouldn’t accept my verified GHIN and kept giving an error message loop. Tried to contact support and even that didn’t work. Again CapPatrol error message. Work out the bugs!!!

I downloaded CapPatrol on Friday it accessed a great deal of historical playing data. It had data from 175 courses I played. Today when I tried to open CapPatrol it did not have any data. I removed CapPatrol from my phone and downloaded it again and it did not open and does not work.

Frankly, I was happy to have our private club install this program. I play 4 to 5 times a week and only play a few tournaments a year as I’m 71 years old. I can shoot 74 or 84 in any given round I keep my score using the ghinn app by shot, fairways greens putts and post immediately on CapPatrol when the round is finished. Every time! I brought a 20.8 Handicap to our member guest invitational. Wanted to have fun not win of course. Prior to I received a 1 stroke penalty from Cap Patrol for this tournament. To this day, I have written to Cap Patrol Support, four times with no answers. Our Club handicap chair cannot provide an answer as to why I was penalized. Now I am stigmatized as a cheater! I can assure you I am not. Don’t use this program unless they can support their allegations!

Been unable to log in, saying my GHIN number is incorrect but it is not

Version 1.1.12 is broken. App hangs and then CTDs. Worked well until the recent update.

I love the concept behind what Cap Patrol is trying to do - bring some real analytics to the GHIN handicap system and expose those that abuse it. But the implementation here really doesn’t inspire confidence in the underlying analysis. No explanation of how to interpret the results (does a positive percentage imply a result that is above or below your index?) and calculations that appear to make broad sweeping assumptions (e.g., odds of beating a given score given in months/years vs rounds played — which clearly doesn’t factor in the variance in how often someone plays) — no real statistician would be satisfied with the implementation here. Hopefully this all gets addressed soon, as the fundamental concept is great.

Account issue pops up stating “needs to be an email” when trying to create an account. Would love some guidance.

This is a cool app but I have an issue with the odds sections. It should be, happens every this many rounds, not a time period. How often everyone plays is different. I may play more in 1 month than someone else plays in 6 months.

Great App, well done!! We’ve found the only members that don’t like your app are the sand baggers.
