Don’t bother downloading … yet.

Too many issues, first and foremost, not working properly with DJI Fly. I’m using the RC Pro with DJI AIR 2S. Sometimes it connects, and sometimes it doesn’t. Sync is not working correctly, everything seems to be stuck in queue. Too bad, because B4UFLY by default, launches Aloft Air Control. I could go on, but other users have stated that support simply answers “it should work!!!”

Aloft Air Control is horrible.

Aloft Air Control is horrible. As with most business in life, a company will develop a great product and realize they can make more money if they redevelop it, sunset the old version and release a new version forcing everyone to the new version…and of course the new version is never as user friendly, nor does it work as good as the original. AloftAirControl is a perfect example. Aloft was great for the drone industry for a long time. Now they have gotten greedy and power hungry and destroyed what they used to be. There is much better options available for cheaper with better support. It’s only going to get worse. Stay away.

awful update

doesn’t work.

Terrible For Recreational Flyers

Bring back the very simple ALOFT app for recreational flyers! AloftAirControl is no longer supported by B4UFLY for easy LAANC authorizations. This AIR CONTROL is buggy, difficult to use, hard to get a quick idea of my airspace and get fast LAANC authorization. Migration from old ALOFT app to this was a headache and lost my archived information. Instead of the nice simple interface to use when I fly, I have to jump through hurtles I don’t need. Please keep the simple ALOFT app for drone hobbyists. Let the professionals pay to muck AIR CONTROL

Not a good way to change what was great

I’m always respectful so I’ll make this quick and Politely. It’s Missing so much from the previous version. I haven’t used AloftAirControl but a couple times for LAANC approvals which were great. Only took less than one minute to get approval sent to me. I Haven’t tried with this version but looks like it’s basically the same easy process for approvals so that’s good. I just really liked all the other functions. I have no issue using landscape mode with my iPad or iPhone so not sure why it isn’t working for others. My same login and password worked fine as well and has everything saved from previous version. I hope this gets updated quickly for others as I don’t need often. I think it would have been better to keep the older version working until the new version was closer to being complete so pilots could have a choice. Patiently waiting. Good luck and best wishes.

Requires multiple attempts

Every day the first time I open it I get a black screen I have to close AloftAirControl and re-open it in order for everything to show up.
When a mission is done and I try to upload, if I have more than five or six photos it times out and fails.

There is no option to re-upload when it does fail to upload a mission. I spend more time addressing these issues than I do using AloftAirControl for its purpose.

Won't stay signed in

Every time I open AloftAirControl it has logged me out and doesn't use face ID. No other apps do this and it's not like AloftAirControl contains higher security information than anything else on my phone. Why'd you scrap the other app? It worked fine and now I just use alternatives to this because no matter how many times I sign in, the next time I open it, it's signed out again.

App does not function

iPhone 15 Pro iOS 17.0.2. App is useless. Does not respond to touch commands. Can’t
Manually connect to aircraft. Icons and GUI overlap and are a mess.

Can’t connect to DJI controller

They say you can but when you message them for the Dropbox link, they give you an APK pure link. Then they tell you they can’t validate that this link is legitimate. I did some research on the website and looks like it’s not legitimate. A lot of reports of people getting malware and hacked. Since my drone controller has a screen on it, and I can’t connect it directly to the drone is pretty much unusable. wish they never created this new version.

App is very glitchy

I am disappointed that the mobile app is so glitchy because I have enjoyed using the online app so far. I do not think this has been tested on an iPhone 13 as it is not conscientious of the camera bump. When I click on an authorization, I usually need to tap it 5 or 6 times before it will give me any details about the authorization. It does not have information about if my laanc operations have been approved or not.

Can’t log in

I keep trying to use AloftAirControl but I get error messages every time I try. At this point it is less than useless it is a waste of time that could be spent flying. I think they are getting friends and others to write positive reviews to keep the rating high.

Poor Business Practices

Never received a notification for change of TOS. Recently received an email that read like ransom that stated unless we pay into their enterprise program, our accounts would be deactivated in 7 days.

We were then gaslit and told we received plenty of emails. We had not. We used none of the features in the enterprise program, but we’re essentially told that they were being lenient with us already. Unfortunate, but we, along with any drone-centric company we know, will not be using this platform anymore.

There are plenty of free options available on the market. In the future, we may use the paid functions of those software. But we certainly will not be bringing our business to this company.

Garbage

AloftAirControl is worse than the original B4Ufly app.

Worst app. Fails on the 4th of July

I use a lot of apps, most work. AloftAirControl is worthless garbage that is unreliable. Instead of flying, I’m here expressing how this company has wormed their way in as some authority, but they have an app that doesn’t work!
Turns out, I guess, that the system was busy on the 4th of July, hum, go figure, really? Well with a barrage of attempts, it finally worked. Wasting time with app was 15+ minutes, flight time remaining was 12 minutes. If they want to be some go between app, then it should at least be a reliable app

They haven’t made a functional app in years

To date, they still have menu buttons and choices that do not fit on the screen. Everything is out to the edges, I literally cant click on menu options because it’s OFF the screen. When I try to search for a drone to save it to my profile, they have no registered drones to select from so I get stuck without any options to choose from. I type “DJI” and it must be that must that this drone manufacture is too new and unknown to be on the list. Would be cool if AloftAirControl worked, but nothing here does.

Way worse than the Aloft app

AloftAirControl is very cumbersome to use. The login screen is very annoying having two separate screens where you have to fill out the email each time.

It also crashes each time I try to create a mission making it absolutely un-usable. Seriously, the digital flight log is the reason ai started using kittyhawk but with our that I’ll be switching to something where I can actually log flights.

I don’t get why this company keeps insisting on changing their name and app. This is just going to keep pushing clients to other apps that use to be worse products. But at least these other apps work.

Won’t stay logged in

I’ve moved on to another LAANC approval app. AloftAirControl here wouldn’t stay logged in and it doesn’t use iPhone login features that save the login and password so you have to enter it in every time. I don’t recommend AloftAirControl to anyone and I get a lot of people asking. In fact I steer them away when I hear they use AloftAirControl . Just because of the whole log in issue. Fix that and I might come back or recommend.

Also don’t believe the lie that this only effects “some” users. It’s everyone and no it isn’t because I have an old version. I keep my apps updated and check every few days. The company responses are lies and they don’t care.

You all ruined the app

UPDATE
The response from the developer says it all. #1 they say rocking a 2.3 star overall. #1 what? In having a cluelessness as being a core value of the company? What an incredibly arrogant response from them. Like I said, AloftAirControl is terrible. The only reason the LAANC is up is because DJI is on the “list”. If I could give you all zero stars I would.

Wow! Installed then promptly uninstalled. I’d rather go on Dronezone then deal with the janky app you all developed. Native Swift you say, it’s great you say? Glad you all are proud of it because you all are the only ones who think it’s great. Total trash. From the way you select a flight area to the way it’s janky self wants to stay in landscape. Trash!!!!

Dead From The Start

Reading Aloft's response to another review gave me reservations, but a video I watched recommended Airmap, a predecessor to AloftAirControl. So, what the heck, I'll give it a try. When I brought AloftAirControl up I was immediately confronted with a spartan lookinng page which demanded I create an account. I wasn't going to set up an acount for an app I know nothing about and was unsure if I would use it. So, I would strongly suggest that the developer add a "guest" option. The fact that your reply to the review "A major step backwards..." seemed to indicate that you are all about the web is a very bad sign, but I was at least open minded enough to take a look. Too bad you weren't open minded enough to let me do that without gathering data on me.

Aloft used to be the gold standard.

This new app is worse than the old one in every way that I can tell. To start, it logs you out every time, so you have re-enter your email and password whenever you open AloftAirControl . They haven’t added FaceID support yet, and AloftAirControl won’t stay logged in. I tapped ‘change password’ in AloftAirControl , and it opened up an in-app web browsing window which just said “download app” with links to AloftAirControl Store and google play, even though I was already in AloftAirControl ! Overall it feels like a poor mobile website wrapped up as an app. The workflow for getting commercial LAANC authorization is much clunkier and less efficient as well, requiring more steps and taps to get there.

Update: since trying the suggestions in Aloft’s response to my review, there has been no improvement. AloftAirControl still logs me out every time and does not support Face ID. I can no longer us AloftAirControl. The company cares nothing for its users. All they seem to do these days is boast about how great they are.

Don’t bother

Don’t know why I bothered to register my drone and it still wont authorize me to fly. Worthless.

Doesn’t seem to work

After providing a username and password AloftAirControl just hangs on a screen with a “spinner”

Doesn’t open

Kittyhawk works ok, this just hangs when I try to open AloftAirControl .

What’s the point?

Don’t bother installing. You can’t get past the login screen. I agree with those that say pull it off the store until it’s ACTUALLY available.

Time sink

I waste so much time trying to make this program work. It is way overbuilt for what it is. It’s security is ridiculous. AloftAirControl has more security than my bank. Why?

Access? When?

I don’t know why Apple even allows this in AloftAirControl Store. I have had it for MONTHS and have signed up for “early access” at least a half dozen times. While I’m sure the kitty hawk folks will create an amazing app, this should not be in AloftAirControl Store until it is ready for use.

Doesn’t work anymore

I can’t sign in at ALL. is there support to help?? Have been using for years but with the new update this is now garbage.

Good when functional

Downloaded AloftAirControl to use LAANC, but AloftAirControl seems to consistently not track my location and also logs me out often. Without being able to use my location, it’s much harder to get anything done in AloftAirControl .

Used to be great

AloftAirControl is good for TFR and airspace. However, it used to be so much better for weather. Recently it has not been keeping up with the area METARs. As I’m writing this it shows 61 degrees with a 4400 ft ceiling. When it is currently 79 degrees and the METAR shows a few clouds at 6000 and scattered at 25,000. Not reliable anymore for weather.

A major step backwards from the old Aloft app

AloftAirControl is noticeably worse than the old Aloft app. They haven't implemented FaceID in the new app, so every day I launch AloftAirControl I have to enter my password again. They've also split the login page into two parts so it's a lot of extra steps.

AloftAirControl also "feels" worse to navigate and use. I'm pretty sure the whole thing is web views now, the animations of sliding in the nav bar and such are just not good now.

One feature request that could save AloftAirControl is to be able to reuse settings from a previous LAANC request. If I'm often doing flights in the same area, I'd like to have it save the polygon and last used duration so I don't have to zoom in to get the area just right every time.

And also, please add FaceID back.

Significant regressions from previous version

Note well: this is based on the first ten minutes that I’ve spent on the new app. If this were my first experience with Aloft, it would also have been my last.

* AloftAirControl account transition has way more steps than it should.

* The new app does not work well with Apple’s keychain. It spawns an entire web view where previously there were fields that just worked right.

* There’s no way to use FaceID to log in anymore.

* And the worst so far: NO MORE LANDSCAPE MODE?! Seriously?

* Instead of showing the weather information on the same pane as the map, one has to flip over to it. Sigh.

If you don’t have to use this, don’t.

Disappointing

I don’t normally write reviews but with AloftAirControl the company took 10 steps back. There is no section to view your assets anymore and is missing other great features. The aloft app worked great, includes bunch of other cool features to make flying experience better. Very disappointed……. Why change something that doesn’t need to be changed?

App Stuck in Flight Logging Mode

Not sure what happened to AloftAirControl, but it always skips ahead to an inflight tracking mode. Can’t even back out to select an area, request a LAANC. Made all the recent updates, works on iPad though. Keep working on it! 11/29 update - it means that I cannot select my mission or request a LAANC on my phone because AloftAirControl stays stuck in Flight Logging. No place to close that screen.

Authentication

Please for the love of god fix your authentication issues, I feel I spend more time logging back into AloftAirControl than I do actually using it.

Decent app but being forced to login all the time is beyond frustrating

Please resolve this, when showing up at a location and being forced to enter long a complex password each time is time consuming and frustrating.

FIX SCALING ISSUES, please :)

The latest flagship phone should be properly tested when designing a mobile application. Please fix the scaling issues, specifically the “missions” tab. I am using an iPhone 13, and I am unable to see the text when I click on the missions tab. I’ll gladly change my review if this is fixed. Thanks!

Works sometimes

Some controls are out of the screen sometimes. Needs a major ui ux comparability check on different devices

Needs work

The GPS is always pin point accurate, but the weather data is always way off!

Good but lacking

AloftAirControl has a lot of good features.. including being able to make a very specific area to get approval in. However, the frequency that it signs you out and forces you to input your creds is counter productive to public safety use. When we need to launch quickly, having to reinput our login forces me to close AloftAirControl and use another. Please change this for us PS users.

Map doesn’t respond

Can’t use the map to creat a flight area. The bounds are unresponsive.

Update App

Disable the update screen.

LAANC Circular area

If you would just turn your LAANC area into a circle instead of a square! Other than that, this is the best app for LAANC approval. And don’t respond with “You can do that on the website”. We want it on AloftAirControl !

Old all was about perfect, new app is… not

Some improvements, but still less easy to use than the old app. Need to view several screens to see airspace and weather. Before it was in one place.

Landscape is still weird and shows less information than portrait somehow.

Still not much info as to what the missions tab is for.

No Apple Watch support anymore

I used to like checking the weather/airspace etc on my Apple Watch.
It is no longer available on the watch. Would love to see this again. A little difficult to switch over with existing account but haven’t had any other issues I use a dji rc to actually fly and AloftAirControl for laanc and conditions.

Works Fine

I used the older version and was pretty familiar with it but recently upgraded to the new one. I liked the fleet tracking in the old one. It’s available on the web but I miss it being in AloftAirControl . Overall it does what it’s supposed to and I get my LAANC authorizations just fine.

Works every time I use it

Use it about weekly. Always able to get my LAANC approval quickly and without issue.

Very Good Response

I sent an email on Saturday night at about 6pm and I got a response the next morning. Impressed.

Also, I would like to know how to adjust the MAP so I can see major roads more clearly, I am probably not using the Map Features correctly.

This is a VERY GOOD APP for finding out if you can Fly your Drone, really Excellent.

Not bad, few bugs

Not a terrible app but buggy in some areas.

Would be great if with the box that gets brought up when you're trying to create the zone you'll be flying in can be customized or moved. On my iphone 13 max it doesnt allow me to move or resize the zone at all.

Working for me.

It’s working well for me, though it could use refining. A history of LAANC requests would be nice. Login with existing account worked fine. LAANC request went through without a problem. Thank you!

Great aside from one thing

Please stop having AloftAirControl log me out. I have to log back in almost every time I use AloftAirControl .

Grid expanding

I’m not sure if its AloftAirControl or my iphone, but when I tried to expand the green square to request airspace recreational for the area I need, it doesn't seem to work and maps just moves. Any solution would be helpful?

Solid app, great support!

Had a few questions so I chatted with support late in the evening. To my surprise, Jon replied within 30 minutes (considering the work day was over) and answered all of my questions. Jon, if you are reading this, thank you!!

Great app for drones

Works great if you are just trying to figure out where it is legal to fly a drone.

Reached out for support

Prompt and informative response. Best service I have had in a long time.

A Part 107 Must Have App!

I recently started using the Aloft Air Control app, and I'm impressed with its user-friendly interface. Jon, has been incredibly responsive, making the experience even better. AloftAirControl has streamlined my drone pilot air requests, making the entire process efficient and enjoyable. Highly recommend it!

Glad for good customer support!

AloftAirControl works beautifully. Could make it work when my PC browser isn’t optimum. Jon and Kevin have been responsive and helpful when I’ve had trouble with the content of my application. Great work, Aloft.

Awesome App

Awesome app a must have for drone pilots support is off the charts in response time and expert tips/advice

Lot of fun

Drone make me much happy so much happy I cry thank so much

Excellent customer support and great app!!

I was pleasantly surprised to see responses even during holidays within an hour of my questions. Jon is a great guy who helped clarify getting authorization at non-LAANC airport as well. It’s a great app that clearly tells you the authorization zones and altitude grids. I used it to submit an authorization request to FAA!!

Fast response to questions

The map works well and my question about LAANC authorization was answered.

Does everything I need it to without issues

I can only assume most of the poor reviews were written for previous versions of AloftAirControl , since I have not run into issues and the interface is smooth and relatively intuitive. I was an AirMap user in the past, but they have moved exclusively to serving the enterprise sector and are discontinuing AloftAirControl . Getting LAANC approval for my flights is very simple with AloftAirControl, just as it was with the old Aloft one, however the UI of this new app is simpler and a bit more streamlined. It seems like it’s nearly the same but with all of the enterprise features stripped out, which makes sense. Overall, I am very satisfied and plan to continue using AloftAirControl for LAANC authorizations.

One small piece of feedback I have, however, is that the interface where you select the area to fly by dragging four corners is a bit unintuitive. I think it would be better if the corners moved as you dragged them rather than only updating their position once you lift your finger. Besides this, however, AloftAirControl does all I need it to do perfectly!

It does what it’s supposed to, which is great!

When reading the reviews, it seems like AloftAirControl had a rough start. But as of writing this, so far it’s been a very nice experience. AloftAirControl has a clean UI and is useful for getting LAANC approval.
Though, as someone who never used the original app, I can’t speak to how much different it is to this one. But so far, so good.

The Cleanest LAANC maps available

Air control is the successor to aloft. I loved aloft, but air control takes it all into a cleaner interface. You will not be disappointed with AloftAirControl for your opperations. I’ve tried all the other laanc providers and keep coming back to this one

Great App

I just earned my Part 107 certification and AloftAirControl has been working great so far. Honestly not sure as to why there are so many poor reviews. 5 stars, thank you Aloft!

Fixed!!

Thank you for addressing the login issues!! So much more convenient. Has been stable as all get out! Cheers!

Great tool!

Outstanding app! Very easy to use, reliable, and useful! Makes compliant UAV flying possible and practical! A great, and essential, tool!

Fantastic Updates Recently

The new Air Control website is awesome for a lot of my more advanced planning, but loving the new app updates. The new live streaming is a game changer for our ops!

Thank you

Jon has been immediately responsive to my messages along with an option regarding downloading. IMHO the service provided is a must for UAC.
They are always available for questions and ask for suggestions.
Thank you

Great product

I fly my drones all the time and have had no problems connecting to LAANC thru AloftAirControl. I receive an approval email in about 30 seconds after requesting a flight. When I have a question, the staff are quick to reply and very helpful. I recommend AloftAirControl to anyone.

Great Customer Service!

I was having some difficulties with AloftAirControl so I sent an email and surprisingly heard back within just a few minutes. The issue I was experiencing was fixed and I was able to get the waiver I needed!

Awesome customer support!

Jon and Kevin are great, I have just started using AloftAirControl and had a small issue with an airspace LAANC authorization. I got on the chat and they quickly responded, answered my questions, shared helpful information, and help me better understand my next steps. I absolutely love that I can send in my questions and I know I will get an answer or support even on a Saturday. Really happy with AloftAirControl, that you fellas!

Best app for LAANC

I loved AloftAirControl from the start it is so easy to easy to use and is always adding new features. I was very pleased to get into contact with support right away and the team helped me figure out any technical issues that I was facing.

Fantastic App

App is just as good as the old one. Anyone leaving low star reviews is clearly just having frustrations learning their way around the new app. Development team is very helpful and responsive!

Excellent service!

I made a rather snarky comment about something on AloftAirControl and got an immediate response from Jon who explained it and informed me that they are coming up with a better solution. I’ve used BeforeUFly in the past and always been very happy with it and I look forward to using this new Aloft app soon.

Great App. Superior customer support.

I recently contacted the support personnel
And they were very quick to reply with an answer. AloftAirControl is very efficient and easy to use and has tons of information and is very easy to learn. It’s a priority for me when I fly.
I have been using AloftAirControl for over three
Years with all of my Dji Drones. Never had any issues with getting authorization.

I am planning a trip to Utah and have found this app to be very helpful. Easy to use and shows airspace warning(s). I double checked the info shown with local rangers in Kodachrome Basin S.P. and Grand Staircase Escalante N.M.

I won't be downloading the new Aloft Air Control until it's a working application. The multiple negative reviews speak for me. It was a great app (the original) at one time. Looking forward to it being an award winner again, but there are other options available until then.
