I bought Kast when it was 10$ and had just came out. I knew it wouldn’t be perfect, there would be bugs and it would probably glitch out like the Rabbit app used to do. I was fine with all this, I knew they were working to fix it. I was happy to be able to support an app and website that would allow me to stream shows and movies with my friends who live far away.
Then they made Kast free, whatever I was still happy I supported this start up. But then, they added the ads. Since then, on the off chance I can actually get into my friend’s rooms, it only works about 10% of the time, and that 10% I have to work for. I can’t enter anyone’s room without restarting Kast completely at least twice. When I get into a room, the chat won’t pop up and I have to restart again, it’ll freeze in the middle of playing for me and no one else, have to restart Kast .
I could watch a 30 min show and it turns into over an hour of trying to even get this stupid app to work.
I contacted support to try to get anything to make Kast worth it, a refund or even just a free month of premium so I wouldn’t have to deal with the ads at least for awhile. They refused to do anything about it. (and it took them weeks to respond)
I would not use Kast. I deleted it from my phone and I won’t be using it again.

Everytime I use Kast it freezes on me for no reason. It works for about 5 minutes and freezes! Leaving me confused and it’s unfair you guy don’t have a way to watch on the mobile browser! Everyone else works fine for them and I RECENTLY updated! I don’t like Kast and I’m almost always missing out on movie night because of this dang APP. FIX THESE DANG BUGS if I could I won’t give you a one star!

Simply got rid of an amazing software / site in order to replace it with something that doesn’t even work.

I hope you spent a fortune in an attempt to buy out competition so your service can continue to lose money to other options. When you think that the only way you’ll make money is by buying out competition, maybe you should rethink your business. You get customers and keep them by having a good product, not being the only option. (Especially when you can be replaced by discord) <3

Even if you’re working on something, this should not have EVER been available to buy to simply download. I feel bad for the $10 you took from people to give only a skeleton of an app.

But the video often freezes and most of the comments I make in chat don’t go through. Someone already mentioned the soft lock problem if you look at the viewer list. The basic functionality seems broken. The pc app seems mostly stable, so I’ll keep using it, but Kast is really unstable.

This product doesn’t work. I tried the premium trial and even though at least half the time we ended up abandoning the program and going on google chat, I thought maybe it was my fault and paid for premium to give it a try. After a few more attempts (and lots of frustrated friends who also couldn’t get it to work), I gave up. when they launched an updated version, I decided to try again and immediately it was clear nothing had been fixed. They refused to give a refund or even apologize for how bad Kast is, they just said “sorry you’re unhappy, we are a small team”.

The latest update on this app removed the ability for users to share their screen (on desktop) without having to buy a membership. this app literally serves no purpose to me now...why would I pay them monthly to do something I can do for free using discord? I used this app just because I knew how to use it better, but there’s no way I’m buying a membership for something that used to be free. Rabbit was so much better...it’s been ruined by this app. Kast itself was never too great seeing as how it was impossible to share your screen on mobile...it was really only useful to watch someone else’s stream. Also, when using this app, I always had this glitch where I couldn’t see my friend in my friend list...like when I looked at their profile it showed them as my friend, but it would have an “add friend” button and weren’t in my friend list. Anyways I’m deleting this app now since it is now utterly useless for me.

Kast was great until out of no where they added more to their premium service, that if were going to be honest no one will buy. You cant even stop sharing your screen now unless you have premium service lol. And now theres always audio problems with the participants in the party. Horrible, really had potential.

The reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the web version works well. I’d like to be able to host a watch party with Hulu/Netflix from my iPhone (my primary way of streaming), but Kast does not have that feature... so what’s the point of Kast ?I realize I can join a party from here, but I’d like to be able to host the party with all of the features available as they are on the browser version. Apparently I’m not the only one with this complaint either. Please fix this!

I don’t understand why you can’t just do what Rabbit used to do. Literally, you only need 2 things for people to actually start using this

1. Make it so this app itself is a browser that can be shared among people in the party LIKE HOW RABBIT USED TO. This way, everyone can have control over the room and play what they want for everyone

2. MAKE IT WORK ON MOBILE. The mobile version is garbage. You’re only able to join rooms and when you create one you can’t even share your screen

If these things aren’t added then there’s no reason for me to use this over Discord

What’s the point of paying for Kast if it will not work properly. On iOS it’s trouble some and using it on chrome you don’t get quality unless you pay. This makes me miss Rabbit so much. Quality stuff and didn’t have to pay monthly for crap. They were not ready at all, whatsoever for this to roll out to the public and I keep trying but it just isn’t coming along .

I think I’m starting to like Kast. But please can you guys just let Mobile users share screens too??? Just make it more like Rabbit again? :) :/

When using Kast I keep trying to turn the volume down so I don’t disturb everyone around me but it doesn’t go down, it just stays the same even when I turn it down in the settings.

Kast lags a lot and the audio is sometimes super bad. And it keeps crashing after a minute of being on. I think it could be better but it’s fun to chat with your friends and funny when it doesn’t work but eventually gets kinda frustrating

I love the idea of Kast, and the native Mac app is actually decent, but this iPad version needs some serious work. I can’t seem to get it in full screen, and I still haven’t figured out how to access the chat. I was very excited to use this on my shiny new 2020 iPad Pro, but ultimately had to switch back to my Mac to get a full featured experience.

All around great app! Love using it! Just won’t process my premium subscription? It shows I’ll be paying, but I don’t get the benefits of being a premium subscriber. If this could be fixed? Thank you.

There's no volume control, so I can't hear anything above a whisper. This makes it even more unenjoyable when I'm trying to voice chat on discord.

Me and my friend was like ugh we want to watch something to without be by everyone so i found this so it is GREAT! Love Kast and people that say it’s bad you just don’t know how to work it or something to wrong with you phone Kast is great:)

Kast is actually kinda nice if u have a decent pc but I still miss the rabbit cloud severs from the previous app as a proud user I ask that u please bring back the key features of rabbit
Edit: yess they have started to bring back some nice features but please optimize your app for notch displays

I am a big user of synced media, and there are many options on desktop & web, but only one decent option on mobile. That one option is mobile only and can not connect to web. But this app is changing that; their team releases new features every month on top of their already easy-to-use and optimized platform. Thank you for building out an expensive service and making it free for users to use

I have so much faith for Kast! It still needs to let us this app our screens from our phones so im sticking around. This is the best thing since Rabbit.

after rabbit was shut down i was eager to be able to use this app once it made it to the phone. and right after i added it i was disapointed with the verification bug, and the fact i could do ANYTHING. even the profile pics in other parties were glitched. some people had my pro pic! it made me very confused and overwhelmed at the fact that i thought i would have rabbit replaced with something even better, but now i wish rabbit never left, even with its glitches and bugs. PLEASE fix these bugs.

I wish that Kast could work properly. The desktop version seems to have no issues like this. Kast somehow managed to chew up over 70% of my phone’s battery in about 90 minutes. That’s absurd given my phone battery lasts all day and more on usual occasions. It’s also absurd that I wasn’t even using a microphone the entire time.
The audio is so out of sync on mobile that it’s not watchable. Hopefully Kast will be updated to be usable in the future, I’m not sure how this got approved for Kast Store as is.

Mobile App is buggy. You’ll get softlocked if you’re in a Party, and go to the Viewerlist. Essentially forcing you to close, and reopen Kast . Some features that are also available on the Web/Desktop client are not present here, such as showing which friends are Online/Offline. You’d be better off using the Web/Desktop Version for both chatting and watching. Or even finding a different service, as this app is still rough around the edges. Screensharing with Discord is honestly your best bet, if you’re only looking to screenshare videos with your friends. If you’re looking for a Rabbit clone, Kast isn’t it.a

As Kast is now, it’s practically useless. I can’t “discover” anything past the main page because there is no search option available. The desktop app seems to work alright, but as far as I’ve seen it’s incompatible with mobile. I’ve tried in vain for the past hour to stream something with my friend, and while the video plays on my desktop my party remains empty on Kast . It just says “waiting for Kasters”. I also see no option to send invite links on mobile and my friend hasn’t been able to use the one that I sent from my desktop. Kast needs a whole lot of development before I’d bother to use it again. I can see it has potential judging by how the desktop version functions, and I do genuinely look forward to it’s future updates, but until then, I don’t see any point in downloading Kast.

I’m not entirely sure how to work Kast? I say it was on the store for $10 and decided to pass because rabbit never charged us. The moment it was free, I downloaded it. I was excited to start watching shows and movies with friends, but Kast doesn’t even allow me to do that.

I can’t become a “Kaster” on my phone, only a watcher, I can’t make my own room, and I can’t edit my profile without Kast crashing. The point of me getting Kast was to watch and stream shows/movies on my phone. Since I can’t even do that, I’m not too confident in keeping Kast .

I think the idea is wonderful, but adding a few new features, tweaking a few bugs and whatnot could really improve what you’ve got going right now.

If I had reviewed this a week ago, I would have given Kast 5 stars. If they fix the problems I’m having, I would give it 5 stars again. But right now every room I go into, the video is choppy and in slow motion. I thought it was a temporary thing, but it’s been that way for a while now. It happens on both my iPhone and iPad. Someone mentioned my internet speed may be the problem, but I have the fastest speed available to me through Comcast xfinity. Someone said maybe it only works for Macs or PC now and not mobile devices. I’m not sure. I just wish it worked as it’s a great app

Kast seems decently put together but there’s no option menu to select anything, also it’s not as good with iPhone X or newer since the screen doesn’t go full screen (might have same issue with older phones). Overall, it’s good for watching things for others, but definitely needs a lot more improvement. Make it possible to make screens take up the entire phone screen, add an options area for those who want to edit their account and other stuff, and generally just make small tweaks that could make it easier to use and more appealing to the eye. I don’t get why Kast is so expensive when the old providers had theirs free, but making small improvements will definitely get higher ratings and more people willing to spend the $10 for Kast . I’ll write a real review when all the features are up. But so far all I can do is watch a room. I can’t request to go to one so my group made it public for a bit till I could get in. Once I left, I was locked out again. I can’t chat, can’t message, can read any messages and can’t host anything yet. Just waiting for the updates as they role out. Also, when watching in the room, I had no issues and it sounded fine. But it’s a bit wonky, everyone had my custom icon? I think it was a glitch though.

I was reached out through email to try out Kaster. I gave it a whirl because I really enjoyed rabbit and also miss it. So, I was willing to try something similar to rabbit that’d allow me to watch movies with others again for free.

So, I tried out Kaster and Kast itself—is very limited on what it proposes to offer. You can’t necessarily do much on Kast than what you can do on the website. I’d suggest adding more features in future updates to make Kast more enjoyable, but also the possibility of enabling a cast option on the phone. Of course, if possible. It’s design is very simple and pleasing to the eye just needs more work on from bug fixes, tweaks, more options, and just that to create more of an enjoyable experience. It’s a baby in the process of getting on its toes. For now I won’t be keeping Kast until there’s further change to make it worth keeping. Since, it’s kinda useless as an app during this time. Until then future rabbit.

I think this app is great, but on mobile it needs to be tweaked more. As others have said we can’t become a kaster and can only watch, which is fine with me. But one thing you should fix is when we go to see who is in the party, we cannot exit that area and so we have to close Kast just to do that. I would appreciate it if you just tweaked that quickly so we could exit it instead of having to close Kast and open it again.

The desktop version is great, I have no problem streaming for my discord server on it. However, anyone running on iOS software can’t see what I’m kasting. I also had some audio problems, but I was able to do an easy fix for that. Overall a useful tool for worldwide movie nights. I can’t wait to include my friends on iOS operating systems and be able to voice chat with the whole group.

My phone won’t let me stream with video? WHY

It's nice that I can add people's requests while I'm on the go through my phone and tablet. But stinks that I can't access the chat on my tablet while in landscape mode. Imagine using you keyboard while in portrait mode some how. Also, it stinks that I cannot manage the party members while on the mobile app. It would make paying the $10 worth it for me, if these two features were in Kast .

It definitely defeats the purpose of having this app on your phone since I’ve only found that I️ can stream stuff on my computer and my friends can watch it on their phones. However, according to my friends it’s a lot less laggy on your phone than it is on the computer where it crashes a lot. I’m glad I️ can this app a show on the computer so my friend can at least watch, but it does defeat the purpose of having Kast in the first place. There are many needs for improvement, but so far I’m somewhat satisfied that it at least runs with the kaster streaming it on the computer.

The this app app was a great app for people like us who are in long distance who wanted to watch movies together, by far i have been using this app on my pc for months now and no issue. I was happy when i saw that it was available in the appstore for the ios so i immediately bought it and started using it. For the third day from when i downloaded Kast , it would always shut me out of Kast . I tried updating it thinking it could be because there’s an update but it would still keep on doing that. I dont want to pay for something that doesnt let me use it. Hope they would fix this issue cause i really like this app.
