Avast Omni - Family Guardian Reviews

This product is designed with one person in mind. Good for a single overbearing parent, not good for people in relationships or living with other adults. No ability to share ownership or responsibility but lots of power to control and spy on others in your house. It’s basically a bit creepy.

Been an Avast customer for years and have always been happy, but Omni is a bad misfire.
The Omni software both on computers and phones is unstable, with the computer occasionally saying that the hub won’t talk to the Router because they’re incompatible, but then goes right back to working.
The software randomly duplicates connected devices, so my iPhone has been added 3 times according to the system.

Lastly the hub and it’s lack of functionality has crippled our web browsing. It randomly blocks traffic from mobile apps like games, and major websites like CNN and Google. There is no way to add trusted browsing options either so it’s an all or nothing system.

In all, strongly do not recommend. This is a late-Alpha, early-Beta stage project that just can’t deliver on its promises.

I have used Avast software for years, even in windows xp computers, now finally getting to beta test the Avast Omni is a while new experience that’s not only exciting but educational, I went to school for Computer Networking and I absolutely love this program and the intelligent firewall hub, no other company is working cyber security like Avast can!

I have many smart home devices (TVs/Stereos/Thermostats etc) and this product gives me peace of mind protecting these devices. It’s great that it also provides protection to my mobile devices as well with the companion app.
It was easy to set up and configure, I was able to do so quickly and get everything up and running.

I’ve been a long time user of all things avast. Which is why I quickly went to Omni as an overall home security solution. This move however has fallen short of Avast’s otherwise stellar product performance and services. Omni is slowing my network to a point that, with home schooling during the COVID pandemic, it is not able to protect my family’s device’s. I regularly have to turn it off in order to regain my expensive internet services and it’s throughput. Please improve Omnis ability to handle network traffic beyond 400Mbps, so that I can actually use the Omni hub and avast services I pay for, while my kids use their devices for web classes. Otherwise I am paying for a device that is turned off most of the time my family is using their devices.
