I paid for TextCapture because it was simple and did not require a subscription. I read other reviews indicating it was a reliable app. Even after paying the results were appallingly bad. Trying to convert an image or capture text from something is absolutely a nightmare. You’ll spend more time cleaning up text. It doesn’t even capture whole words. You have to revise and edit the entire thing. It’s a waste of time. You could just retype the text quicker. I want my money back. I’m angry that I paid for this and there is no recourse. It’s a scam. If it was free it might be okay but for $4 is not worth it at all.

I really needed this for school because of accesibility purposes after I missed a week and needed to catch up while away, only to find out you have to pay to copy text? Rather, you have to pay to do ANYTHING to or with the text? It completely defeats the purpose in my opinion. I entirely understand the payed purchase neccessity, but what am I going to do after scanning the text? Stare at it? I already have the writing in front of me, why would I need to scan it if I didn’t need to export or edit it? If you plan on using TextCapture, plan on not using it at all unless you want to pay for it. It isn’t a high price at all, but I personally don’t think it’s worth it. I would rather find a different app. And I apologize if there is some other use of text that isn’t copying, exporting, or editing, I’m just not aware of any :) Also, it caught all the text really well, so if I were able to use it it would be really useful. The only things is that since I can’t edit, when it finds excess text on the screen from tabs or keys, you can’t change that.

TextCapture shows it’s free but if you actually want to use it for OCR purposes, it’s $3.99. Switch and bait; just state it is a paid app.

Used the OCR function and it removes the formatting. Therefore plan on spending significant time re-formatting. The accuracy of the text capture is about 80%.

TextCapture is perfect and helps me with text to speech for many of my classes. I have a lot of reading to do, but learn better when text is read back to me. The only issue i have is that when I upload images, I can only fit them into a square box. Because of this, i will have to upload the same page two times so I can get both the top and bottom. It would be nice if I could customize the dimensions instead. Thanks!

Works pretty well, just wish we could be able to change the reading speed for easier use, it would definitely help out a ton. I just think for 3 dollars it should be more convenient and changing voice speed seems like a simple yet important fix.

Text Capture is superior to all other capture apps I’ve used. It would be a 5+ with two modifications:
1. A Landscape mode so I won’t need to twist my iPad around.
2. An “eraser” to eliminate background texts in screen shots with stray “characters”.
High Priority for #1, not so important #2.

It would be better if there were more options to add Pictures to the Text or to add the text to my other Apps. I have to Copy, Paste everything.

I really like TextCapture and it works about as good as I would expect. I haven’t encountered any significant issues. Sometimes the text is misspelled or is formatted incorrectly it these issues are easily solved.

This is the best app for scanning text. You just point it to content and it works in a VERY intuitive way. It’s fast, easy and has a lot of options such as translating and reading. I give it 5 stars with no regret!

I tried all of them and this one works best. I tried the free ones as well but they messed up on the text too much. This one did the best job and is well worth the $2.99 to upgrade.

Cheaper and better than other apps. Only $4 for a license wow… that is amazing compared to other companies offering. I definitely recommend TextCapture to everyone

1. So I think this would be common mistake but too common and many people wouldn’t know what to do. Could use a warning.

2. The instant capture doesn’t take proper punctuation so it will read weird. Instead take picture and use TextCapture to scan and read to hear more natural reading

3. With that said TextCapture should have camera feature, so I don’t have to take pictures out side and import to here. I mean if I was going to take multiple steps and gestures, there are free options ^^

This is saving me a ton of time. It’s accurate for the 2 pages I have scanned so far. I tried another one before this and did like 5 pages and it was not very accurate at all. Go with this one.

this ocr has far exceeded my expectations in every way. speed, accuracy, ease of use.
i have a very well reviewed desktop scanner, and this iphone ocr beats it in terms of speed hands down - no comparison - and the accuracy seems about equal - both high enough for my use. perhaps one or two errors every 100 characters.
i’m a law school student with lots of reading and writing, and this has really changed the way i work. scan text, email editable file to laptop, cut and paste, do whatever you want to do, all seamlessly. no more manual typing to create an editable file. am i going over the top if i were to say that this product has delivered the greatest expectation-to-actual-result positive ratio among anything i’ve ever owned? i don’t think so. for a cup of coffee. when are you coming out with the capability to ocr asian language? that’s what i’m waiting for. you have set a very high standard for yourself.

Love TextCapture it’s user friendly! This tool is great when you have a-lot of reading for class. When you choose the option READ a robotic voice is weird but once you figure out how to change that function its really cool.

I found TextCapture browsing and I couldn’t be happier!! My son is multi-lingual and TextCapture is great for his studies. Just point and shoot and the text is copied...then you have multiple options to edit, translate (his favorite part) or read it back aloud (my favorite part). Look forward to seeing this easy to use app grow.

Save and name the scanned text as a separate text collection in TextCapture . Save text from image as text file for any text doc app. Scanner recognizes many types of characters/symbols besides standard letters,numbers. So it makes for a decent BASIC text editor. Definitely worth the $ for what I need it for.

The “Share” button resumed working for me. I can’t account for the variation after a few days, but I apologize to the developer. I also thank him for his response. I have added a deserved 5th star.

#1 I really like the honest simplicity of one payment, no password hassle, no ads! No external drives or sites to mess with!
#2. The “Share” button stopped working for me, although the other buttons (“Edit”, “Copy”) work fine. Thus no fifth star.
#3. The interface is clear and intuitive.
#4. The scans are good or pretty good on small jobs like business cards. Whole pages need some cleaning up unless you can hold the camera very, very steady. But the Edit mode tends to suggest the right correction when a misspelled word is clicked on.
#5. In sum, worth the money—though I’ll appreciate a working “Share” button.

Text Capture is one of the best OCR's I've seen in a long time. I notice many of the negative reviews are from people who complain it's not free (hardly an unbiased review).
I did a quick scan from a photo and the process was flawless. Attempting the same using TextGrabber by ABBYY, I kept getting "unable to recognize the image" error every time using the same photo.
I am very satisfied with TextCapture, and am done searching for any more of this type. Highly recommended!

Gotta say I’m content so far, although text formatting needs a little more work. Apart from that everything else works just fine.
