San Antonio News from KENS 5 Reviews

Local station is good, seems they are somewhat better about reporting the news without editorial. CBS on the other hand seems very bias, I have stopped watching CBS morning show because they only present stories from one side. They show the destruction without telling what cost in jobs and property damage. I rarely see the cops do anything bad without being provoked and never emphasize that. I know there are bad cops but compared to the races that are killing each other, it is much worse. Where is the outrage over that?

Thank you for your efforts to bring credible news stories to the public. Also for going against the grain in investigating situations that do not add up. I just want to say thank you for your endless and tireless efforts.

The only other thing would be that it seems like you have an unusual amount of new reporters. I didn’t realize the turnover rate was so high or maybe competitive.

KENS provides great local news, weather and entertainment. We’re so supportive of KENS that we are going to switch to Dish TV if this ridiculous impasse is not resolved very quickly!! This is a promise. This is not how you keep your viewers, Direct TV. We have choices and you are quickly NOT going to be the service we use in this household. Do the right thing during this Pandemic, Direct TV.

Please add the ability to save news articles. A saved-articles page where we can organize them would make this my go-to apps. I mean, who wouldn't want to save important articles that pertain to our friends and their part of town? Please add this requirement, most current apps have this ability, please, and thanks.

Need to have a way or option to remove ads, guys. I’d pay to have an ad-free version, because nothing is more annoying than jumping into a live news feed where critical info might be being dispersed and then getting blocked by a 25 second ad, potentially missing out on this information. I can’t be the only person that feels this way.

I love KENS 5 been watching years but for a week I haven’t been able to watch due to the contact with AT&T Directv and I don’t have to watch another channel witch I don’t like.I miss my 5am wake up news and 10pm news. Love y’all please come back to my home

I have been watching Kens5 literally my entire life. I remember when the weather man would walk outside and how us how the ants would be going crazy, telling us a storm was coming. The most amazing thing ever.
As I grew older, that man passed away. Times changed and I got SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 and ditched regular TV. It worked so well. I knew after certain times to check SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 to see what the latest update was...
About a year ago Kens5 redid their app, adding in more commercials to make more money.
So, not only do you have ads through the ENTIRE feed, but the ENTIRE story as well.
Even worse, on the video you click on... it glitches so bad that I finally gave up watching the lady rescue her dog in the flood today and went to Ksat12, which use to be considered a cuss word in my house.
From reading the reviews on here, it’s safe to say your excessive use of ads will be your downfall.

Not liking the new app. Screen is very jumpy while scrolling due to pictures loading. Click to read one story and that scrolls into another second story that almost seems like they run together. Go back to main menu and it takes you back to top of the page. Radar can be moved with one finger while traffic map has to be moved with two fingers. Don’t like how you have to click to go to weather map then go back to see other items. What are the cartoon characters on the traffic map? Couldn’t find an explanation. Not very user friendly.

One of San Antonio’s oldest TV stations, too bad there are too many CBS & msm agenda driven opinions and slanted reports - so the mute button gets a workout.

KENS did a good job on local weather during Feb-2021 statewide power outage. I use outside antenna as I “Cut The Cable” years ago.

With antenna and having majored in Journalism I kerp surfing KENS, KSAT and FOXNEWS-CH-29 I can cherry pick good weather and avoid the leftist dominated opinion driven propaganda that definitely isn’t news.

If the children wear mask to school ,will they be 6 ft apart? If so then fewer children would have to be in classroom, or is it possible to place a clear plastic glass around a desk? If so then mask would have to be worn only when entering, changing classes and leaving premises, PE would have to be canceled,I think breakfast should being eaten at home then eat lunch at their desk.

Regularly happens...get a notification about a story, click notification, app opens but unable to locate story...quit app, relaunch, scroll through headlines, story nowhere to be found...not sure if the social media/IT peeps are screwing this up or if it’s the reporters not knowing how to post a story???

As a subscriber to DirecTV, I watch KENS more than any other channel for my resource for news & weather. I prefer this channel over other local channels for many reasons. The national news for CBS is my preference also as well as the night time programs.

There has been a recent notification that TEGNA is considering pulling these channels from access.

I am requesting that is not done and that the TEGNA channels remain accessible through KENS.

Thank you in advance, I know these negotiations will close quickly and maintain the current accessibility.

Tried reading several articles and the screen freezes and won’t release making me close SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 out and this happens daily. So frustrating. The layout is also bad on this one. The old app had categories, local news, good eats, national news etc... this one is a mash of everything and it’s hard to find what you want to read. Did anyone test this out before it was released. You are supposed to be the better news station in town and this is the best you could do. Not good Kens5, not good at all.

I had initially figured that I would give SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 a try and even receive useless notifications. I have enjoyed SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 and have received USEFUL notifications that keep me in the loop with news that keeps me informed. Thanks KENS5 for not taking advantage of the notifications setting! 🏆

I switched to Kens 5 after another station I had been watching for years was taken over by Sinclair. Great station, caring and accurate reporting and I’m really enjoying SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 . Very well designed!

Its harder to find what you want on SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 now and the videos don’t always work well. If there’s a weather video it takes a while to load up. This is like dial-up; bring the old app back

I always watch the news at 10 and other times when I’m able. Deborah Knapp, Bill Taylor and Joe Reinagel are my very favorites. Jeff Brady was awesome too. Truth is I enjoy everyone who shares the news with us. Keep up the fantastic job you all are doing.

If I could figure out a way to give Ken’s 5 a half star, I’d do it! I literally hate SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5! I get notifications throughout the day from Ken’s 5. When I click on them it takes me to SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 , but more often than not, the content is missing! I can’t tell you how often this happens! It is so annoying, so frustrating!! FIX THIS THING!! It’s a disgrace!! How are local people supposed to be informed about what’s going on around them??!!??!!

I had to delete SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5, as the weather section was very disappointing and difficult to navigate. Took me about half an hour to find the radar, and once I did find it, it was only the national model. They also left some stories on there for two weeks, long after their expiration date. Deleted SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 and now I’m using KSAT 12’s app and am enjoying it.

I enjoy the news but sick of everything having commercials even this to read the news it’s full of commercials. Sick of it

Navigation not intuitive or helpful: you quickly get to a dead end and must use the back arrow at the top. But it takes you to the TOP of the main screen, not to the link from which you navigated
Several article links only display white content when clicked.
No obvious way to report app anomalies.
SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 seems very beta. It makes me want to choose a new, competing news source app for San Antonio news, weather, traffic, etc.

SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 is very hard to use. The print requires
A magnifying glass. The only reason it got 5 stars was I hit the wrong end star. I was using my iPad and could nearly read the print.

I was glad to see a new version of SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 at first but quickly realized this one is even worse than the first one. It freezes up even reading text stories, so I can’t imagine trying to watch videos with it. I have to force quit just to get my phone back. SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 also doesn’t refresh and there are older stories that show up again randomly. Use KSAT’s app instead.

It’s frustrating every time you read a story then click back, only to be dumped at the top of the home screen - especially when you have to scroll like Moses because of the huge photos. Fancy is not always better, go back to the old app.

I would like to say thank you for keeping my family and myself up to date on what is going on in our city ( the seventh largest city in this great country).

Since the new format was updated, some stories open but freeze on a page. I have to close and reopen to read a story. This occurs very frequently, so I am usually checking other stations for news until this is fixed.

My husband and I watch KENS 5 every morning before heading out to work. I read it during the day while at work and love receiving the breaking news from SanAntonioNewsfromKENS5 on my phone. ❤️

Your old app was much better. Your old app needed improvement, but your new app is not any better. Your new app is worse. You should fire your app developer. I was excited when I heard about your new app. I deleted the old KENS 5 app, man was I stupid for doing so, and downloaded your new app. That was a waste. Unfortunately it’s back to using the KSAT 12 app for me. Maybe one day you’ll get a real app to replace this trash.

I do not like the new KENS app. With the old one I could easily get to weather radar maps. Tried for 15 min with new app but never did find radar, only weather reports from meteorologists. Most times I would rather just see the radar. And today’s weather page has the headline about tropical storm Barry using the spelling of Berry. Looks like someone needs to do some editing. I think I’ll just use the KSAT app.

Great place to check weather, sports scores, what’s happening around town and surrounding areas. Oh, and weather, too. My favorite on TV and online.

I like that you can have favorites on this newer version but the weather functions are terrible. Too many screens and swiping takes you out of the topic all together. Very frustrating, needs work and to be better organized.
