GPS not updating after a couple of holes

I have the Ace speaker and it’s a decent speaker with some helpful functionality. The problem is, even with PrecisionProGolfApp set to always allow location, after 2-3 holes, the GOS distances to the green on the speaker stop updating. When it’s working, it’s great. It auto-advances holes, shows the front/middle/back to good accuracy (that’s really a testament to the phone though, there’s no GPS in the speaker itself), and you can setup some specifics to help pinpoint the distance even more.

If I wake up my phone and open PrecisionProGolfApp , everything starts working again. I don’t use PrecisionProGolfApp to score or track shots so if I did that I would probably not have this issue, but I don’t track my shots at this point. Maybe I’ll try that but I still think it should be able to keep the speaker updated more frequently. I have no issues with the Bluetooth connection though, that stays rock solid.

Good concept, poor implementation

After 1 round with the R1, I’m not very happy. GPS didn’t work at all. It just showed dashes for every data point on the GPS view on the laser. It showed GPS data sporadically in PrecisionProGolfApp . Scoring was difficult. It doesn’t move along to the next hole as you’re playing. Wind data didn’t show up on the laser. The laser yardage was way off on one hole, causing a costly double bogey. Bluetooth constantly disconnects and reconnects, showing a ridiculous amount of alerts. Going to try it again today, then it will most likely be going back for a refund. Seems like they rushed this to market without working all of the bugs out. Could be great, but they have a ways to go. Work out the bugs, provide some enhanced scoring options, and enable scores to be pushed to GHIN like The Grint, and it would be a great device.

Great App Helps Scoring

Not only is PrecisionProGolfApp free, it is better than most that cost you money. The scorecard and stat functions are great for strength & weakness analysis after a round. But the accuracy of the hole by hole map are fantastic! You are able to easily move your target spots, seeing how far hazards are, and how much you will have left on your next shot. It is an essential tool for me during a round to precisely improve my course management. I score better and make better decisions with PrecisionProGolfApp!

Apple Watch feature in future?

I’m loving PrecisionProGolfApp so far, it’s far easier to use compared to other golf scoring and gps apps! I understand that the main business is to sell range finder‘s, but I would love for the ability to see distances, do scoring, hit/missed fairways, putts etc on the watch since i like to leave the phone in the cart or bag.

Connection problems

I have had the new R1 rangefinder and subsequently PrecisionProGolfApp for a month now. I have probably used them for about 6 rounds. This review is strictly about PrecisionProGolfApp .

I have continued to have frequent connection problems. The gps has never worked seamlessly and I have never had a full round without major issues. The gps will completely go out multiple holes at a time despite having full service and my other golf apps (grint/arccos) working perfectly fine.

The automatic hole forwarding has never worked once.

The connection with the range finder goes out on every hole (could be a rangefinder issues but it seems to be issues with both).

I am a big fan of the precision pro company and have had great success with previous items I have purchased. I surely hope they fix the new technology and make it at least functional.

App works, speaker not so much

I lose the connection with PrecisionProGolfApp and the speaker. Also it usually takes a few tries to connect at the beginning of a round. During the round I notice that it hasn’t changed the hole automatically. I have to go into PrecisionProGolfApp and manually change it to the current hole. I’ve written to support several times but no response. Buyer beware.

Disappointing

Firstly the remote hardly works. It only works once but then you have to reset the music. After about 13 holes about 3 hours, the speaker gets unpaired from my iPhone I tried unpairing it, quitting PrecisionProGolfApp , forgetting the device and nothing works. It’s very frustrating especially while playing golf. The yardage shown on the display continues to work but no music.

Really helping my game

Being able to track all my misses has done wonders for how I navigate the course now. Not only having the stat tracking but the gps makes PrecisionProGolfApp a must have and one I use every round.

Needs Watch App

Very good App, but needs Watch integration!

Good Start. Opportunity to improve.

First. I am a new precision pro rangefinder user and I absolutely love my NX7 Slope. But this review is strictly on the new app. I think this is a good start to a great idea. Love the distance tracker function as this is something I have wanted for some time, but my phone struggled to get a solid gps signal throughout the round. I used to use a bushnel gps watch prior to my NX7 slope purchase and never struggled with gps connection at the same course. Also, would love to see more courses in the database and would love to see added functionality that included course data on par by hole so the user did not have to enter their score related to par and the number of strokes. For example if I am playing hole 1 at a course and that hole is a par 4, once I enter a 4 then PrecisionProGolfApp should know that is a par vs the user entering strokes and par or birdie. This would also eliminate the option for fairway hit or not on a par 3. Happy with PrecisionProGolfApp so far, but excited about what would assume are future improvements.

Love the app and the Idea but one problem

I love the idea of the distance measuring and shot tracking and how you could see all of your stats but they do not have my home course. I understand that PrecisionProGolfApp is new and look forward to using it when they have my home course on it.

Very few courses

Most courses in my area are not included in database. Needs a lot more courses. For now, not of ant use.

I can see the value

I love the concept but I literally can’t try PrecisionProGolfApp because none of the courses I play regularly (I tried 6) are on here. I get they they are testing PrecisionProGolfApp but it’s super disappointing. Also the search feature is not very user friendly. I feel like searching by zip code or even state should be part of PrecisionProGolfApp. As it stands right now, if you don’t get the club name exactly right you won’t find anything. But I can’t find anywhere that in play so I suppose that point is moot.

Course not mapped!

I’d like to use and review PrecisionProGolfApp but I can’t as my home course isn’t available/mapped:
