App keeps crashing on iPhoneX

A friend of mine on twitter was talking about how much she LOVES the game and story. This lead to me downloading TASOKAREHOTEL and then lead to the first issue. TASOKAREHOTEL is not formatted for iPhoneX, telling me the game probably hasn't been updated in a while. I ignored hoping it was still able to play it. As soon as I actually enter the hotel TASOKAREHOTEL CONSTANTLY kept crashing. It froze my screen leading me to have to lock my phone to get out of it, just to tap the dialogue a few more times and it freezes again. This happened at minimum 5 times all within the same scene.
It was literally unplayable for me, but I see many others are able to play it. By my friends recommendation it’s good (if you’re able to play it).

Great game, wish there were easier ways to get tickets

This game is great! I’ve always wanted a game with a story and a way to interact with different things. It’s much more exciting and it doesn’t hold back on what’s “appropriate “
With that being said, I hate how you have to wait until 5am each day to get a refill of tickets and it’s only 5 tickets. Sure you can get extra tickets, but not enough to continue playing through the multiple outcomes and continuing with the chapters. It’s also absolutely impossible to get through a chapter with just the 5 tickets and so you can never make that “early completion bonus” it’s just not possible. Depending on how patient I am, I might stop playing because of the lack of tickets available without having to spend like $10 to just finish one chapter.
I hope they find more ways to give out tickets in a more efficient fashion

22 tickets in 2 days?

I love this game and it really challenges my mind. It has a great story, amazing characters, and cool puzzles! There are some things that bother me though.
• It’s hard to do the early completion bonus. I have to use 22 tickets in 2 days when it only gives you 5 tickets every day?! I think the tickets should take an hour or two to “ respawn “ so you can keep getting tickets if you run out. It just doesn’t give you enough time to complete the bonus!
• If I couldn’t watch an ad to get the answers, I would’ve been screwed. Some puzzles just don’t make sense and my stupid brain can’t understand a few and it takes me 15 minutes to understand that I’ve been doing it wrong.
• Menu is unresponsive sometimes.

Finally finished the story

It took a little over a month to complete the story without purchasing any tickets. Overall it was enjoyable and fun. Really loved the characters and the story overall. The translations could be improved significantly to flow more naturally and not be so awkward, but the story is still understandable. If you were to make a purchase to support the developers, I’d recommend the Special Stories because after you finish the main story and the mini game, you really don’t need tickets or bells or whatever. You can grind for everything except those additional stories.

The puzzles are all doable without hints except for the last chapter; I still do not understand what the game wants you to calculate and/or do in this one specific room, especially since it involves more intermediate knowledge of Japanese or Japanese puzzles. I had to look up the answers for it, and even then I didn’t understand the explanations for those puzzles in the game.

My only big complaint is the game should be optimized more. I was in the My Room and the battery on my iPad started heating up. I am also concerned something else is loading when I click on the title screen because I can hear something not from the game (some kind of ad running?) That really bothers and concerns me. I don’t want weird things running in the background without my knowledge. I will watch ads if you want me to, but don’t hide them in the background 😒

Good Game, Questionable Story Decisions

The game itself is very good. I enjoyed the puzzle aspect of it and the concept is very interesting. The point system is fair and gives the game a good pace. Now onto the problems I’m having with one of the characters. Spoilers for people who haven’t played this far yet!

Why are the characters treating a serial rapist like just a normal guy? Yes, they do bring up the fact that he’s a rapist often but I feel like the main character, as well as most other characters, have been treating this man too casually for what he’s done. It just feels like it’s lacking a fair bit of tact for a topic that should be treated with more respect. Not only is he a serial rapist in his alive life but he threatened a 14 year old(Ruri) while at the hotel… make it make sense, why would the writers choose such a sensitive topic as his crime only to keep him around like a fun side character?🙃

A bit greedy... but maybe rightfully so?

I’m honestly very impressed with this game. I saw it through an ad on Instagram and it seemed interesting. I’ve been dying for a good mystery game, so this was right up my alley! The artwork is great, the music suits the atmosphere, and the characters are incredibly lovable. The main character herself is funny and different from a lot of SEEC’s other female protagonists, which I found refreshing.

The only real problem I have is how little free tickets you can get. 5 tickets is not nearly enough to finish one chapter and it makes it impossible to make the early completion bonus. Not only that, but each episode is pretty short, so the ticket doesn’t feel well spent. Also, there’s an EXP system that just feels tedious. Though, I do like the unlock-able outfits.

I will say that the game is very generous with hints. You only need to watch one ad in order to get a whole walkthrough basically, and it saves the player from becoming too frustrated to complete the game. Most games would probably make you watch an ad per hint, so I’m glad this game didn’t go that route.

Overall I would really recommend playing this game! At least up until chapter 2, which made me cry lol. The story is really well written and you’ll be invested in the characters and overall mood of the story. Just don’t go in expecting an easy free to play experience. Nevertheless, you’ll enjoy yourself!

It’s just plain good

This game is honestly just straight up good in almost every aspect and the gameplay may not be for everyone but it’s still enjoyable and some people think that being only able to play a few times a day is a bad thing but really it’s not to bad because each ticket is full chapter and every day you get 5 free tickets for five chapters and 3 extra tickets if you watch an ad and 2 extra every week and if you can’t play a certain day your tickets get saved so the tickets just work perfectly and it’s really a smart way to work around the problem with some indie games of not making enough money to support themselves because people blast through their game

Among the best

TL;DR You should download TASOKAREHOTEL. It’s got great characters, story, and puzzles.

This is one of the best visual novel games I’ve ever played on a phone app. The story is interesting, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, and I kept wanting to read more. There are many alternative endings, especially as you get to the last few chapters, and the True Ending is a really emotionally satisfying one.

I loved all the major characters, but the biggest surprise for me has to be how much I loved Neko, the main character. So often main characters in visual novels are there to serve as a vessel for the reader to inhabit as they go through the story, but Neko has a fantastic personality complete with faults that lead to her making mistakes that have real consequences in the story. By the time I was a few chapters in, I was almost surprised by how much I just genuinely *liked* her. She’s funny, deadpan, intelligent, resourceful, arrogant, lacks social decorum, and is utterly fearless in a way that feels real, not put on.

Osoto made a great villain, and the fact that he came to view this high school girl as his ultimate rival—and the fact that this came about in a way that felt natural—was so revealing. He really is a childish person who puts on airs, but not in a way that you see him regressing into a total childlike state. He’s just a really well constructed character.

Of course, I loved Atori too, especially his dynamic with Neko. I wish we got to know him as intimately as we knew Osoto, but maybe I’ll get the extra stories and learn more from them.

I also definitely cried at the end of Chapter 7 when I thought a certain plot point was entirely irreversible.

Also, the translation, while not perfect, was always understandable.

Can we have more translations please?

Prison boys is such a great game and this one is no one exception. I’m invested in the story and the puzzles are tricky but not unsolvable. Looking forward to future translations of your other works.

Update: Reached near the end of chapter 2 and found a mistranslation that can be changed. The card puzzle required a royal flush which can be founded in Ando’s diary. Where it’s written that it needs to be a 10, J, Q, K, A spades combination. But upon inputting the answer it was incorrect. Luckily there’s a tab that has all the answers if you watch an ad. Instead the answer turns out to be a diamond royal flush. Maybe it was some confusion translating the symbols but to clarify ♠️-means spades and ♦️-means diamond.
I’ll continue to update if I catch any mistranslations.

One More Please!

I’ve never written a review for a game before, but this was way too good to pass up. I’ve also never spent money on a game like this before… but again, too good to pass up. The characters, the story, the art, the possibilities, they’re all amazing. This game is addictive. I could play games like these for years. They drive me nuts wanting to complete the endings, enjoying doing what I want to do, and not simply being a blank character with no personality at all (I don’t like those but it’s a personal opinion). It’s an interactive story, and it’s been written beautifully. I love it. 5 stars, would play again, and would love to play more games just like it.

AMAZING Through and Through

I loved playing this game. The story is interesting no matter what route you take. The characters feel real and relatable in ways, and I loved seeing their reactions. The puzzles are hard, but are satisfing when you solve even a part of them by yourself. The last of it was fun to watch and a satisfing conclusion.
I really loved the art too; the characters showed their personalities through how they looked and facial expressions. For example Tsukahara wears more clothes that pop out and she wears exciting clothes which truly show her personality, while her face is serious like poker face. She is secretive when nessisary, but is still going to show or tell something that's interesting.

Great story, lovable characters, should be an anime!

This game has kept me hopping back on my phone every morning ready for more of it’s addictive story and puzzles—it’s got surprises around every corner and has even brought me close to tears. I enjoy the side tasks of the game, as well as the option to achieve multiple endings with differing dialogue by selecting certain choices.

I do wish we could pay maybe $5-10 (or more!) upfront for the full game with no IAPs so that we could get those early completion bonuses a bit easier and be able to play back through our favorite chapters without buying tickets all of the time. It’s a great game, but the struggle is real when you’re trying to get through a chapter and you’re blocked by EXP requirements or a lack of tickets.

SEEC does it again! ・:*+.\(( °ω° ))/.:+

Tasokare (Meaning “Twilight” and “Who are you” in Japanese) Hotel is a game full of deep meanings and features a rich cast of endearing characters. Each character has their own unique flaws and quirky characteristics, and you can’t help but liking them all!
Achieving the early bonus is totally possible for anybody as long as you do the gatcha and AD login-in bonuses to stock up on tickets before you continue the Main Story.

Story-wise, I still love the Prison Boy escape game mostly because of the atmospheric setting and deep character dynamic, but Tasokare Hotel demonstrates a fascinating concept along with lovable characters that always manage to surprise you. The plot and some character relationships also ran in interesting directions I’d never expected!

The Special Stories (paid portion) that reveals the ending from multiple perspectives of all the characters is fully voice-acted in Japanese. Overall, the art, music, and voice-acting really made the characters and story come to life.

(Fingers crossed for Tasokare Hotel anime, one day!! ><)

Amazing.

Genuinely an amazing game. The story is extremely engaging, the puzzles are challenging, characters are fun and lovable, it’s long, the soundtrack is so good, the art is amazing, the game itself is fun, the layout is simple and easy to use, and finally it’s just an overall good thing to do to pass a bit of time. I think that the early completion bonus is impossible, but that’s fine because you can unlock the content with coins. (Early Completion pretty much for the purchasers anyways). It does have it’s fair share of bugs and crashes, but it’s okay. I truly love this game! Even if the tickets take a long time to refresh.

Simply Stunning!!!

This game is amazing!!! I can’t describe how much I love the story, concept, and main characters!!!

Setting is a purgatory-like hotel, where you decide if you’re still alive in the real world or dead, but you’re not sure how you died or who killed you or anything. Without saying spoilers, it definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat!!!

That being said, a few annoying things:
• You have to use tickets to go back and reread story (in their other game Prison Boys it’s all free) so save up your coins to use to buy out the chapter!
• The whole room cleaning thing can be tedious to people (and you might be tempted to buy bells but don’t do it!!! 😭 just use the ones you get from daily log-ins and AM/PM gacha!
• The ending sequence is a kinda complicated with its requirements, but there are plenty of walkthrough guides online to help you out with what you need.

Overall very enjoyable with everything else: Art, music, story, puzzles 😊 would definitely play again!

SEEC has done it again ٩(˃̶͈̀௰˂̶͈́)و

I love it, just like I love all the other escape games from Seec Co. (if u haven’t tried them, I highly suggest you to—if you like mystery puzzle games). Their games are basically free if you are willing to put in the time but this Tasokare Hotel just made me fall in love instantly, therefore I feel like spending some money on it by supporting the developers is something I feel good about. The entire experience was great, even when I had trouble purchasing them, Seec Co. responded within 24hr. Ofc if there would be more tickets everyday and more~ LOVE~and~peace to the side stories I would die in happiness!

Ahhh!!

This game was so much fun to play since it combined my 2 favorite elements of gameplay: puzzles and story. Neko’s personally differs completely to the usual females in story-based games. She’s snarky, a little lazy and nosy, as well as having a dark streak.

I never buy in-game stuff, but the special stories they offer are just too tempting to deny. The fact that this game follows an otome like game style but isn’t based on the romance makes me quite happy. In my opinion, the characters do flirt a bit, but it’s on such a low level that it’s funny rather than lovey-dovey or cringe worthy.

Cute & Fun

The game has a rough English translation that's hard to get past at times, but it's never confusing. The game itself it's pretty fun, and the art is really cute. Overall it's just a simple visual novel with some puzzle gameplay. I'm quite enjoying it. I don't play a lot, because once I hit my cap with the tickets, I put it down and forget to pick it back up for a while, but even if I put it down for months, when I pick it back up it's easy to follow and I remember everything that's going on!

Really great game but a few things that made it a difficult play through

I really loved this game, the characters, the music, the plot, the art, and the varying difficulties of all the puzzles. However, one thing that I didn’t like was that certain puzzles were untranslated so I had to cheat to figure it out. I think if they wanted to leave the certain puzzles untranslated then it would be better to give hints that non Japanese speakers can understand. Other than that I love the game and plan to go back and play through the chapters I missed.

Best Rol Play App I’ve played so far!~

The story line is interesting and original. The puzzles are not overly complex but challenging. Plus! The game gives plenty of opportunities for the players to get coins, tickets and everything! Something I really appreciate is not being bombarded with ads the minute I open a game and this one allows you to choose if you want to see any ads and gives you a good quantity of awards from it. The animation, sound effects and music combined with everything I mentioned so far speaks a lot about the effort the developers put in this game! Five stars! I’m addicted to this game and I hope their future ones are as amazing and thrilling as this one!!~
