For one, what is the paid subscription... only 99 cents but still, there was no indication when downloading the app. Then you do the month free trial and actually are able to see the app and it’s all over the place. You can tell this is someone’s passion project because they clearly didn’t hire a designer. The user experience is horrible and the how to get around the app page is wordy and confusing. The user experience and user interface of this app create something that is hard to use, hard to read because of the unnecessary details in the background, and makes you want to go back to google (which is free) immediately. Invest the monthly subscription back into the app and do yourself some good and hire a ux/ui designer.

I’m quite disappointed with the app. There is no real substance behind it. Improvements could be made to
1) recipes - building out the “method” a little more so users understand what their meal should look like at each step. One way to do this would be to add videos or pictures. And jsit adding a bit more personality behind the instructions. After all you are capitalising on the Ella brand; however their is no character here. There are many FREE blogs with recipes that provide more thoughtful recipes than this. I would suggest you all check out Alison Roman, NYT Cooking, Smitten Kitchen, and holy cow vegan
2) introduce a community aspect - there are no options for users to comment on recipes, workouts, etc. What if my child is allergic to aubergine and I would like to substitute it with another ingredient. Being able to search comments for other users who had similar issues, would be so helpful
3) Ux - a bit disappointing that this mimics Apple Watch..I will use my Apple Watch instead since there’s more functionality there
Great ideas on the app but I do hope there are many improvements to come, especially given the pricing.

Let me start by saying we’ve purchased a subscription. We’ve made about 13 recipes from this app now and of those only one or two were easy to follow . The recipes were the whole reason we purchased a subscription in the first place. However they are not clear enough to replicate the dish accurately. Sometime ingredients list doesn’t agree with the steps, it’s missing ingredients or changes the type of ingredient.
Overall my wife and I are pretty dissatisfied, and would prefer a refund. I definitely will not continue the with the subscription.
