Buggy recently

I use dolphin as my secondary browser to keep certain long read tabs open—I use it every day and love the tab organization, the gestures function, and even the themes.

Today though, it has been unusable. On both my iPad and my phone DolphinBrowser opens with a black white box in the middle of the screen. I cannot exit the tab, I can’t open a new tab, I can’t even scroll down the page I am on. The box looks like a pop up function but no options pop up to open close or read anything. I have restarted my phone, I have open and closed DolphinBrowser . The issue remains.

My only other issue recently is some weird bug with bookmarks—they all delete and seem to cycle through default options every other day. I assume that’s to do with their fillr separation.

Used to be great

This was my main browser for ages then it seemed like an orphaned app last year. Since it came back, it feels like a shell of its former self. I had an account breach last year and like I said, this was the only app I used to log in and since I found out who the developer is, I suspect they maybe getting logins. DolphinBrowser also keeps changing my search engine from google to yahoo. It doesn’t matter how often I do it, it’ll always change back to Yahoo.

DolphinBrowser has gone from being amazing to being suspicious and annoying. The only reason I keep using it is because I’m weening myself into another browser. I’ve used dolphin for 3+ years so I can’t just jump to another browser but I no longer use it to log into any account I own. I don’t recommend DolphinBrowser to anyone until they overhaul it and show that it’s no longer an orphaned app.

A promising but deeply flawed browser.

While this browser has some positive features that make it superior to other browsers, it also has many serious flaws that need to be addressed.

Pros: This browser is fast and efficient. One of its best features is the ability to control text size. This is especially good when browsing the internet on your phone. More browsers should have this feature. Tabbed browsing is also excellent on this browser.

Cons: Now here is the biggest game breaking flaw. The keyboard will randomly disengage when you are typing, sometimes causing you to lose all of the text you have entered so far. This is extremely aggravating and it ruins what could be the best mobile browser.

DolphinBrowser will also not let you permanently delete the built in book marks. So if you delete them to make room for your own choices, they will randomly return and sometimes will end up deleting your personal bookmarks.

I implore the makers of this browser to fix these issues. Dolphin has the potential to be the best browser for Apple mobile devices and tablets, even better than Safari.

Definitely Blocks Ads - But Has Problems

While this browser does what it is supposed to do and keeps malicious content from running while mobile browsing, it is not without notable flaws.

As many have pointed out, recent updates have not once - but twice - seemingly restored DolphinBrowser to factory settings. That includes deleting bookmarks and resetting default search browsers (once to Bing and once to Yahoo). That’s probably the worst of the problems. Other issues are related to usability issues that arise when you start blocking content on a site. Sometimes, the site won’t load at all, but other times, it can be as simple as making it very difficult to post a message.

Just some stuff to consider.

Deceptive Update Description

DolphinBrowser has lately taken away many features and only very slowly addressed glitches one-by-one. Now as of the latest update I cannot open new links in the background; I have to copy the link, open a new tab, paste the link, and go. DolphinBrowser still re-adds its default bookmark buttons every couple days, limits the total number of bookmark buttons to 12, and limits the number of tabs open-- things it didn't do before. It's a shame, because DolphinBrowser used to be wonderful.

Terrible......

It will not work at all on my iPad after the latest software update and even after emailing them three-times, no-one cares enough to get back to you. It also completely stopped working on my iPhone, right in the middle of what I was doing. On both devices, the logo page comes up and then shuts off. What is frustrating, every page or website you “bookmarked” is gone and if you delete the icon and re-download it, everything you saved is lost. I’m hoping they investigate and upgrade their site snd fix whatever bugs are in there. As I said, after three emails, they don’t seem to care.
Stay away from this browser, as there are MUCH better options out there.....

How the great have fallen

I used to love Dolphin - it’s actually still my default iOS browser. First, the tab I was using was highlighted so poorly I couldn’t tell which one it was. Then I got iOS 10 and for some reason had to download a different Dolphin which synched about 1/6 of my bookmarks (5+ years of bookmarks - not a ton, but the ones I cared about). And now it keeps changing my default search engine to yahoo and adding stupid links to my home screen. Super frustrating. I’ll be looking for a new default, and for now, I’m just confused.

Used to love it

This browser used to be perfect - no ads or pop ups; no having to download Facebook messenger or the Facebook app. My bigger gripe is that DolphinBrowser doesn’t let you see what you’re typing on a website or internet comment section if it’s deemed too low on the page. If you’re adding to a thread at the bottom forget about seeing your text. Just blindly type, proof read, scroll through to fix it, scroll back. It’s frustrating...

Crashes under iOS 14

Gradually becoming less reliable. I hope it is not time to retire DolphinBrowser but we’ll see if the support staff pays attention and gets it back to where it is usable again. When it is working, it is very good but when it’s not… It is very frustrating. Two stars only because it used to be really good but standing on its own now probably does not deserve it. Either fix it or retire it, guys.

No longer working

Dolphin has been my browser of choice for at least 10 years. My iPhone just updated to the new ios and know I can't get Dolphin to work. It opens then immediately closes. What gives? I don't want to lose my browser. I cannot stand safari.

Awful

Dolphin used to be a great browser but not any longer.

At least every other day for the past several weeks, I have to delete numerous unwanted Dolphin default speed dial settings and unwanted default bookmarks, and re-enter, re-type, and re-save all personalized speed dial settings because the Dolphin browser continually deletes and replaces the personalized speed dial settings.

Despite my complaints to Dolphin twice during this period, Dolphin is non-responsive. Dolphin has offered no possibility to protect your personalized entries from being removed nor block their inserting unwanted bookmarks and speed dial websites. Due to repeatedly needing to fix these settings, Dolphin browser has now become untrustworthy and beyond aggravating and time consuming to use.

Due to the repeated aggravation and Dolphin non-responsiveness and lack of support, I advise against using this browser.

App version: Dolphin 10.0.8

Very good Browser

This was a very good browser but before I upgraded my phone to 14.0.1 , it would not automatically add my user name and password to sites it had done before. Upgrading to 14.0.1 on my iPhone. Now Dolphin crashes when you tap on the starting icon on the first splash screen.

Still forces advertising bookmarks and favorites on you

Still forces advertising bookmarks and favorites on you 2 days after deleting them, but at least it doesn't erase your own bookmarks and favorites anymore.
I deleted Dolphin and switched to Google Chrome, but if the developers ever restore the ability to permanently delete the advertising bookmarks and favorites (the way it used to be until about a month ago), I will go back to dolphin.

Special place in my heart?

I know it sounds cheesy, but, I used to use DolphinBrowser ALL THE TIME. It was my go to browser for everything. Obviously it WAS not is. But I think it will quickly earn that spot back. Unfortunately due to changing iPhones it was deleted and I couldn’t find it on DolphinBrowser Store for the longest time. However it’s back and I plan on using it A LOT.

More updates, more problems

Dolphin is an alright browser. It has all of the basic features of any browser and then some more. Personally I use it to listen to music but the latest update introduced a bug that makes it pretty much impossible for me now. Not the first time it has happened by the way. Fix it when?

I guess back to Tubizu and Puffin browser for me. Dolphin lost its touch for me again.

By

Last update added more bugs

Now the navigation functions are all screwed up.

Setting DolphinBrowser to always open links in a new tab no longer works; they default to opening in the current tab, no matter what setting you select.

And when you press and hold on a link and a context-sensitive menu pops ups, that menu now lacks the “open in new tab” option. It does, however, unfortunately, have a “save to reading list” function — which saves the link to *Safari’s* reading list.

Please fix this, guys. It isn’t very useful to have a tabbed browser in which there’s no easy way to open links in new tabs.

P.S. You still haven’t fixed the problem with the speed dial buttons. If you delete the defaults, they reappear later.

Dead. No longer supported as of iOS 14

This browser is officially dead. It is no longer being supported by the developer as of iOS 14 and will not launch for me or others. The developers have been falling short for a good while now but it seems they simply no longer care to continue supporting this browser. Even if they up date it down the road it wouldn't be advised to use it considering devs poor support.

An okay substitute got worse

I had a secure browser I loved, but it went away with iOS 12. Dolphin was an okay substitute missing a lot of features the old browser had, but it allowed me to have a secure browser. Today’s update wiped out my bookmarks! This is ridiculous!! Might have something to do with their crumbling partnership. I think it’s time to find a new solution, one I can count on!

By

Unreliable

I used to love Dolphin but since the last update it randomly reverts back to the default search engine, which in this case is yahoo. Webpages also randomly close and any content I had made is lost. I’ve reset the default browser three times in the last week but now I’ve had enough. I’ve been very loyal to Dolphin but it is time to break up, with all the amazing options out there there is absolutely no reason to tolerate this level of bugginess.

Used to be great

I had used this browser for years. The last update sucked but I got used to it. But now it won’t even load. It was working ok until I updated my iOS. I’m absolutely livid right now. I have a ton of important bookmarks in that browser and have no way now to access them, and apparently they know there’s an issue and have chosen not to respond. Don’t bother with it.

Paid by Yahoo?

I’m not sure if the devs are being paid on the side by Yahoo, or if by sheer negligence to fix a bug for several months... but it keeps reverting the search engine to Yahoo no matter how many times you make Google (or otherwise) the default.

And months prior, all bookmarks vanished. Such a problematic browser. If support were consistent, I’d rate this much higher, since the interface is much better than Chrome and formats web pages better than Safari (which is why it at least gets 2 stars).

Yahoo bug wouldn’t be so bad if that search engine wasn’t so subpar.
