NextBoy - Gay Hookup & Dating Reviews

NextBoy is seriously messed up. It continually tells you that you have new likes, but it’s hard to tell who the new likes are. You also cannot interact with people who like you. That could theoretically be chalked up to the fact that I have not paid for a premium membership HOWEVER there are other issues with NextBoy that should not be impacted by my membership level. One of them is the fact that apparently cannot delete photos you no longer want on your profile. I uploaded my first photo and NextBoy , for whatever inexplicable reason, uploaded the photo so it appears sideways — even though the photo is not, nor ever has been, sideways. It now will not let me delete the photo. There is a little delete X that shows up in the corner of the photo, but if you click it, NextBoy doesn’t respond. I even tried adding other photos before trying to delete the original photo, working under the theory that it wouldn’t delete the photo if there wasn’t enough photo to step in to be the new main photo, but it made no difference. So I am stuck with a sideways profile photo on an account that I can’t interact with anyone on

So we downloaded NextBoy . We started getting excited we were getting a lot of likes. 21 within 30 minutes of creating our profile. We could not leave any messages or do much of anything. So we purchased the premium. Well you can only message like 5 people a day for starters. On the premium and You can not send a message to anyone who liked you. You can not even like them back. The only way to like someone or send a message is going through the swipe process. What’s worse. No one ever messages you back!!! Nothing, notta,not squat. I feel the site is a scam for your money. To restricted for the money. Over all A horrible site. I’ll be be revisiting my review to see if they take it down.

The profiles are fake. They all have specific descriptions about being “hot” in one way or another, and each of those profiles only have one picture. A lot of the time the ages don’t even match the pictures. I haven’t found one person outside of this description. Reading some of the other one star reviews, it seems NextBoy is designed just to be a money grab, and to keep you here as long as possible, so I highly suggest you don’t give them your money.

NextBoy is filled with fake profiles. You can tell by just comparing the ages listed a the photos, and I live in a small town, there are not thirty guys on NextBoy within 2 miles. But according to NextBoy there was.

The profiled will have a picture of a guy around 20 and listed as 30-35. You’ll have a picture of a guy in his 40s and his age will be listed 20-25. Now I’m not that concerned about age, but that to me was the first sign of all the fake profiles. One or two, ok, but like half the profiles... really?

Again, don’t waste your time!!!

The number of “matches” with bots is astounding. Wastes my batter life on my phone and my watch. Limited use unless you pay for access to basic services. Once we are matched, there is no way to send/receive email/texts between the matches. Also, I lost count the number of times I read “I am hot” in the description of guy’s profiles. As soon as I’m done wring this scathing review about this worthless app, I am deleting it.

This is the worst app. I get push notices that “someone liked my profile” but when I log in, they don’t seem to have been on recently and don’t respond to messages.
In app purchase doesn’t seem to unlock what it claims to unlock.
No clear support contact info.
Also 1500 ratings but only a handful of actual reviews? Looks like they used click farms to up their ratings.

I’ve gotten almost 500 likes in the past week. Not saying this to brag, because many of them are the same people. NextBoy recycles people so I wind up with probably 45 guys liking me about 4 times each. Also, you can’t message or respond to messages without purchasing a membership. As such, none of my matches had actually answered any messages. Canceling as soon as my week trial is up.

I searched for so long for an app that actually works and won't just try to sell me subscriptions all the time...thanks!!       ​ 

It’s is real easy to use and I recommend if you want to have a good time

There is not enough free functionality to actually use NextBoy . I tried several months ago and waited to see if it got better- it didn’t. Spectacular waste of time- stick with one of the other apps where you can actually connect with people without paying. Just not worth it.

Don’t bother, paying money does not fix NextBoy’s problems. It is not usable AT ALL. This is on an iPhone 13 Pro Max with the latest iOS. I’m absolutely baffled at how this got through App Store review. You still can’t message people even after buying premium. Had to get a refund through Apple…

Right from the beginning I purchased the annual premium subscription. It has never worked. I have used the support links in NextBoy and never got a response. I have no idea what I paid for, and it seems that any information sent to another user or anyone else just goes to nowhere.

Tim!!! If you read this, know that there’s another bug to fix. I clicked one of the options at the top of the screen, and it took me to a completely black page. I’m now stuck there, unable to get back to the home page or view messages, etc. using iOS. Can’t seem to get anywhere on your support page. Please fix!

Decided to try it. It’s like Tinder, only much more bug prone and less intuitive. Poor interface. Already identified several defects. Seems more like a beta prototype than a real app. I’d never actually pay to use NextBoy.

I think a face photo, should be required, if you want to be on this app.

I dislike the amount of people that use this app. That’s it, truthfully, I can’t thing of any other grievances.

At first glance the interface is wonky (Being that all gay boys start on Grindr).
However, this app has amazing capabilities! Everything I could ever ask for in an app of this sort is there, it’s very well thought out.
Some of my favorite things are the private photo albums •You can quickly catch a guys attention by unlocking, rather than a nearly invisible ‘hey’•The human body is art, one should capture it is ways that communicate that and share often•
I also love the fact that you can jot quick notes about someone for yourself •I don’t have PRO at the moment but this would be something I’d us after every conversation•He likes/dislikes... Don’t talk to him he... *giggles*•
Lastly I enjoy the match sectioning NextBoy •I think it’s super cutesy•It keeps me coming back just about every day, there aren’t very many profiles that catch my attention in my area [What can I say, I’m out of their leagues]•It’s an awesome way to see profiles that I do not come by on a day to day bases•

Truthfully Grindr gets more attention than it deserves and I wish more people would use this app. Pleeeaasssss make it happen some how!!! But only allow the men... I like men not boys... MEN ?

this app actually is the best app in its category, but it also doesn't have much competition. Developers, if you see this, PLEASE add the ability to search profile content, not just profile names. I might have the same interests as someone that go beyond your predetermined labels and categories. Most times, people include that info in their about me sections, not their profile names

NextBoy IS NOT user friendly. NextBoy is unable to be in landscape on phone or iPad. There are dots to see if other users are online but these dots never change color. If you match another user’s profile you’ll be unable to view that user’s profile again to get their information. If you block an user NextBoy says they will not be able to contact you and you’ll never see the profile again. The profile doesn’t disappear! No FAQ’s section to obtain answers to FAQ’s. Unable to see who recently sent you a like on here, organize likes by newest to oldest is impossible. Looks like user complaints have not been addressed by the developer is a reasonable time frame.

An amazing app, that allows local and global networking in our community. The layout of the home page, with separate categories is flawless. And the ability to add where you’re venturing to has helped me greatly when I travel with my nonprofit. All around amazing.

I wish I could say the site is great for older guys, but I don’t think the issue is with the site. I think the issue is with older guys who either haven’t stayed in shape so they don’t feel like posting or they’re older and need a younger guy to validate the aging that they can’t handle

I think NextBoy does the best job of providing cool features and even events. You can find more than just hookups if you want that. I’ve made some pretty good friends since joining.

I’ve met some amazing people on this, and for some reason it offers me a better user experience than other alternatives I’ve checked out. My go to app for guys.

Never had any problems with NextBoy. Doesn't crash; doesn't freeze. Higher success then Grindr as well.

I just joined this app and not only is it easy to use but also does a lot more than the “other” site out there.

None of the photos match their age or description. They all have the same comment about being hot. They are all the same distance away from me. I get the same profiles over and over to swipe and they don’t fit my filters. This is absolutely the worst app in all categories that I’ve ever seen.

Listen the most important thing in app is that it works well. this app has good infrastructure and have always found the UI/UX experience to be great.

Even with a paid account I never received messages that were sent to me. Also, on the “identify as” part of your profile; male, man, masculine or anything similar is not an option. All that is listed are all non-binary or female identifying identities.

Easy to navigate. Also the tutorial is short and in-depth .

Best app for meeting guys that I have found! Have deleted others. Also great app for learning about events.

At first I was excited to try out NextBoy but after downloading it and installing it you cannot test out NextBoy in anyway.. you can create a profile and add pics but can’t message anyone, can’t read messages people send you and other things unless you upgrade to premium.. why does it cost so much per month for a dating site??
