Awful

I’ve spent too much time of my life playing this game. They set up a massive paywall in order to upgrade your golfer past a very mid-tier level and can only level up by buying cosmetics and ball upgrades further making the process longer. To buy those upgrades you need bux which you can take weeks and weeks to get enough of to upgrade one or two times, or can spend $20 and upgrade one or two times in one day. Both are scammy and set up as a massive money grab over a quality game. The matchmaking itself is also atrocious. It is rare to ever play someone near your golfer level once you’re past a level 8 golfer which takes no time at all. I consistently play level 10+ higher leveled golfers and makes it nearly impossible to play well unless you’re perfect. And once you upgrade to higher levels you get your elixir faster to use the power ups. They do this matchmaking and upgrade scheme it appears simply to entice oneself more and more into spending real life money on the game even tho $20 will make the smallest impact imaginable on your actual progress. Overall terribly made game from micro transactions, horrific matchmaking algorithms, and overall scummy developing. Don’t waste your time here.

Impossible to progress.

After playing this game for 2 hours, you will soon find that it is impossible to progress further; excluding the absurd wait times to open chests that are required to progress. This is due to the insane game matching this game enables. To explain why this is so horrible, I will explain the basic growth system the game has.
The game allows for stat increases for your character and abilities, that take place after every level of your character or ability. Needless to say, this will stack up and give the player with said levels, a definitive edge over the competition. Typically, this wouldn’t be a problem, but this game enjoys pairing up leveled “late-game” players, with beginners. To further this point, some players had upwards of 10x my level; which created a insurmountable wall, making it impossible for any progression. As a majority of my games after 2 hours of play, were more often than not full of players at-least 3x my level.
In closing, this game is wonderful if you plan on playing for less than 2 hours, as it bring a fresh and new experience to the table.(albeit 2 hours is about as long as you should play a free mobile game.) Although any longer than that will most probably feel similar to hitting your head against a wall. Until this game decides against half of its main growth systems, I would suggest against giving this one a try.

Customer service non-existent

I’m writing a one star review mostly because I’ve sent 3 emails for support to Noodlecake which have been completely ignored. It’s funny because years ago when they were smaller they actually helped when I needed to recover game content from another game. Now, I’ve spent money on Golf Blitz to get the star pass last season. The game was bugged and didn’t reward daily rewards which are part of the purchase. Any respectable company would automatically issue some sort of in game reward to make up for this, but they had no response whatsoever. I emailed for this and they ignored my email. I played this game when it first launched and recently came back to it and already wasted over $30 in the short time I’ve been playing again (which by the way, $30 does almost nothing to actually boost you in game, I gained one level from this amount).
So even though this game has some fun moments I recommend staying away. It’s pricing is ludicrous and the company is so stingy with this imaginary money that doesn’t really do anything significant that they can’t even issue something to those of us that paid real money for benefits which were not received. Their non-responsiveness has guaranteed that I will no longer spend a single dollar on any of their games.

Awful GUI

For starters (quite literally), there is no option to access the menu and turn off the annoying music in the tutorial. I would’ve really appreciated being able to actually hear my phone call while playing through it.
Secondly, the GUI is way too unnecessarily bloated and full. There is too much going on in the menu screen, and some of the important menu buttons are poorly placed. The menu is almost incoherent with the placement of the buttons, so once I got out of the tutorial, it took longer than it should have to access the settings.
Thirdly, the controls are counterintuitive. The controls may seem simple, but the design of the aim curve is horrible. RNG should not exist in a game like this, especially when you are pitted in a race-style game that’s basically pay-to-win with power-ups.
That brings me to my last point. Implementing slow animation times, teeing off, and gravity makes the game nearly impossible to play in short rounds, which when paired with the tutorial with no menu buttons at all, the beginning was an awful experience to just get to the main menu.
tl;dr This game is an unintuitive money-grab that preys with its cartoonish looks yet is effectively poorly designed overall.

Fun, but just another pay to win to freemium

Game is pretty fun with the exception of the matching system. It’s based solely on how many trophies you have and not at all on your level. Meaning that if you start doing good, you’ll just be thrown into a game with with other players who are twice your level. They’re power, accuracy, and cool down are double what you’re currently at. I shouldn’t have to explain why that’s a major flaw. So be prepared to be extremely frustrated as you’ll be in a consistent back and forth of losing and gaining trophies. And of course how do you level up? Not by winning games, but by unlocking gear. And how does one unlock gear at a pace that isn’t excruciatingly slow? You guessed it, buying packs and pumping money into the game. In short, it’s just another pay to win to freemium that uses luck and frustration against you by setting up system to do so.

The game itself would be pretty great if it wasn’t for the leveling up and matching systems but I guess you can’t blame the devs. It’s sadly just where we are with gaming these days and honestly, who wouldn’t hop on the gravy train if you had the choice? I just wished there were some games out there like this that charged an upfront price and actually left some of the games integrity in tact.

Needs Work

The game is really fun when you first start playing. Then you start gaining levels, and reaching higher tiers, and that’s when the game begins to become frustrating. You start getting matched with players 10+ levels above you, making your chances of winning extremely slim. And then it becomes difficult to gain levels to upgrade your ball and be on par with higher level players without spending real money. This portion gets a pass because I do understand this is a business.

Furthermore, the connection issues are horrible. At times the game seems to require more bandwidth then a full gaming console which is ridiculous. You start the game late, hit the ball, your ball appears somewhere else, and next thing you know, you’re down 50 trophies.

Overall, it is a fun game to play to kill time and get a few laughs in. But once you’re invested in it, be prepared to get frustrated, or spend real money for packs to be on the same level as other players. The matchmaking definitely needs some work. Being placed with players 10+ levels above you is simply not fair. You will win occasionally, but it’s pretty rare. And once the connection issues get fixed, it will be a lot more of an enjoyable experience.

Fun fun fun….Then….wallet grabber

Great game. Hours of addictive fun, but after attaining a certain level, around 35-40, you can no longer progress in the game without paying hundreds of dollars. Those hats and golfer that used to cost you a reasonable amount of bucks, all of a sudden jump to 100,000 +. And to get 100,000 bucks organically, without paying real cash, will require you to play the game several hour a day for months and months, just to get a few upgrade points. The game goes from being fun and easy to upgrade till about level 20, then it becomes challenging and may coax you to pay some money to fast track your advancement, till about level 35. After that, there is almost no way to move forward without paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars. You can buy a very complex and amazing PS4 game (that is thousands of time more sophisticated than this game) for $59-79 with no need to purchase more stuff to enjoy. After level 35, you will pay 10-20x that amount to keep advancing, or accept just getting stuck at that level and nothing ever changes. Is it just me who’s getting sick of these pay-to-play games getting out of control? Am I the only one who longs for the good old days, when you could just pay for a game or an app, and then enjoy it without being forced to keep paying more and more? Bottom line, this game is fun, but if you aren’t a billionaire, you won’t get very far.

Missing its potential.

This could have been an awesome game. But the ball contact aspect was not executed well. I understand that they wanted to have a new gameplay element, but it just makes the game more frustrating than fun. Constantly being knocked off of sticky walls and into hazards through no fault of your own is just the worst. Screwing over other players and taking the win can be satisfying, but it doesn’t make up for how bad it feels when you’re the one getting wrecked by bad luck. It would at least be better if there were more tolerance for hazard resets, like if your ball was almost at rest then you could respawn at that point. But no, it sets you all the way back PLUS the shot reload delay. And getting matched up against players 10 levels ahead of you is just unfair. If it can’t find a reasonably fair match with 4 players then it should give me a fair one-on-one or 3-player game. In fact the games with fewer players are much more enjoyable because the ball contact is actually somewhat manageable, but with 4 players it’s just chaos. So I don’t know why 4 player games are always preferred. Some sort of single player or practice mode would also be nice.

Great Game, PLEASE Improve Matchmaking.

This game is awesome. I love the style of the gameplay and how you’re encouraged to play golf without actually playing golf the right way. I wouldn’t say it’s pay to win, but is definitely a little nudgy on getting you to buy their stuff. There is one major problem I have with it, though: the matchmaking. There is no rhyme or reason to the people you get paired with in a game, so you can get paired with players who are 20 or so levels higher than you, which can get really annoying because you get more bonuses for leveling up, which creates an unfair advantage if you’re not at the same level as them. A lot of higher leveled players take advantage of this and knock around other players to prevent them from winning, since they have a much lower cool down than the other players. I like having a challenge, but it can get really annoying when I’m losing trophies left and right because I’m going against level 30 players while I’m on level 14. Developers, if you’re reading this, please make some changes to the matchmaking so that it can be more balanced.

Great game but a few issues.

This game is one of the best I’ve played in awhile but there are a few major flaws that if fixed could make this an even better game. Some of them include the match making. It seems solely based on trophies and unfortunately it doesn’t work as intended. I definitely should not be playing level 30+ as a level 15 regardless of how many trophies I have. The higher level players have a huge advantage through the skill level and it just gets on my nerves. There have been times playing against higher level players and they will just uses there short cooldown and powerful hit speed to continuously hit me in the water before I can even get a shot off. This just ruins the experience. Now that may not be directly the games fault that they are doing that but they wouldn’t be able to if we were the same level. Another issue is that whenever I go to log in even with perfect internet it always gives me a log in issue. I have to retry multiple times or even delete and reinstall that app before I can play. The final problem I have with this game is that I have 25+ extra hats or outfits that I can’t do anything with. I should be able to use them for Exp or unlocking a different character because it’s completely useless when I have all those extras. In conclusion this is a great game but these issues can make the game very frustrating so please consider fixing these.

Fun at first, but...

This games fun, addicting whatever you wanna call it. But after you level up to a 7 or 8, all you play against are levels 10 and higher, all of which are much better than you. And its ridiculous. The cool down timer is stupid. Because the levels 10 and higher all have a much quicker cooldown, and leveling up in this game TAKES AGES, because you need the cash to do it, but you get like 8 dollars per pack which takes 2 hours to open. Sometimes you dont even get the cash!! The courses are ridiculous too. Youll find yourself in water or falling off the map constantly because other players with MUCH QUICKER COOLDOWN TIME just hit you off. If your ball lands on top of 2 other players balls, you dont even get a cooldown timer, so you have to WAIT FOR THE TWO OTHER PLAYERS TO HIT THE BALL BEFOREEEE YOU CAN EVEN HIT YOUR BALL, which makes this competitive game STUPID. And dont get me started on the way the ranks play after each hole. They always favor the other person and you will never be favored. I was going to give this a 3 star, but after writing this im giving it a 1. Im still gonna play tho, but i actually HATE this game. 1/10 would not recommend

Fun… but with one big flaw.

I downloaded this game out of curiosity and now I love it!! A perfect game to pass the time! It’s easy to navigate and simple to play. There is definitely some skill and strategy involved in gameplay, and there is a very large selection of courses to play on—each with different types of obstacles and terrains. All in all, this game is definitely worth a download. That said, I do have one big issue with the game… When you start a random match, the game will pair you with other players that have similar experience points (trophies), even if the players are on much higher levels than you. Because of this, if you happen to be on a lower level, your opponents will easily breeze past you and claim an easy victory since their golfers are WAY more powerful, accurate, etc. Developers, please work on this!! I don’t mind being paired with someone on a slightly higher level with a few more upgrades, but NOT when I’m on level 14 and they’re on level 50!! It can make the game completely unenjoyable and pretty much guarantees a loss of trophies. Please find a solution. Nevertheless, this is a really fun multiplayer game and I would still highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Amazing game! Just one problem.

This game is amazing, I have no other words to put it. I play this game almost every free time I get and it’s honestly the only game I haven’t deleted within a month. People say it’s a pay to win, and granted, I’m not going to oppose that, but it’s nothing to be mad about. The only thing you can pay for is either skins or upgrades for your power ups, which only just makes the game go faster. Every season your cups reset so it’s not like you have an overpowered guy in the beginning every time someone buys an upgrade. Just play the game and go through the ranks, haha.
Only problem I have with the game is that almost every time I launch the game for the first time when I turn on my tablet, it crashes. Then when I get in and I open my free pack, it will load forever, so I have to exit and go back in (it still gives me the stuff, just gets a bit annoying). And every time I complete a game, the game crashes. So, even though it doesn’t affect the gameplay, it still is a bit annoying and time consuming. Once that glitch gets fixed, then this game will be the best on GolfBlitz Store, by far. :)

It’s a 10/10 from me

I rarely continue playing a phone game for more than a month or two. I’ve been playing this one for about 2 years now. The thing that drew me in was playing against actual players. And the battle royal feel makes it super competitive in a fun way. On top of that, there are sooooooo many different levels and new ones are constantly being added. Plus all the different power ups you get as you raise in level add new techniques that you have to really think about to properly use. It’s like the tomb raider of golf games lol, you use the power ups you have to solve each level as if it’s a puzzle that you’re competing with real people to finish. Yes there is a lot of in app purchases but the only real benefit to them is that you level up faster. And that really doesn’t say much for who wins or loses, it’s a brain game. The developers are constantly making updates and tweaking things to make the game better, you can feel how much they actually care. Honestly this game deserves to be one of the top dogs in mobile gaming.

Good game but it needs…

I like this game a lot and I really like the progression and the speed to level up and you always feel like your getting somewhere and I am now level 8 but as I’m progressing I’m starting to realize a flaw. The flaw is Skill Based Matchmaking, now idk what kinda system y’all use atm but I’m assuming it’s at least heavily based on trophies but I don’t think it should ONLY rely on that because I have been being matched with people that are 20, 30, and 40+ WAY to often and honestly I just close app cause this is the “play to win” type of game since you don’t get anything for striking out so what’s the point. It’s completely unfair to be paired with someone more than double your rank (no matter what level u are) cause they all have a lot better ability’s than you do and skill. The game seems too much like a game where if your the higher rank your gonna win point period blank and it’s unfortunate. If any of the devs are reading this please don’t sweep this under the rug. Please consider this. I’m certain that I speak for other players, right when I started this game it wasn’t a problem and wasn’t pairing me with people with 2x or 3x my level but after rank around 5 it became way to often and now it’s sometimes every game and as I’m sure you would understand ruins the experience.

Best phone game ever!

I play this game multiple times each day unless I’m extremely sick or don’t have a good enough signal. I’ve been playing for about 3 years and I’m seeing people who claim to be level 10-20 (which takes less than a month) stating that this is a pay to play game. I disagree! I haven’t spent more than $20 and that was to get a character that I wanted and then to buy a season pass for the emotes it granted! It doesn’t cost money to level up. Sell cards, unlock your star packs/earned packs with one constantly queued and increase your power ups and you’ll get plenty of XP to level up your golfer! It takes some work/time but it’s worth it. I’m now a level 46 and still very much enjoying myself!
I just wish there were an option to mute specific players in a lobby instead of muting everyone. Sometimes you want to interact with other players but Jim-Bob there just wants to say “BING-BONG” over and over.

Shout out to noodlecake for the wonderful game and to Derek for keeping it real during season streams!

April Fool’s - Change it Back!!

They got me! My bad! Excellent game and wonderful gameplay. Four and a half stars for the game and a half star for pranking me so hard!! Well done and happy April Fool’s day to Golf Blitz!

For some strange reason the developers decided to completely change the way the game is played! Before it gave you a shadow showing where your shot was going. Now a few short arrows point in a direction that your ball might go and to “hit” he ball you have one chance to get tap how hard you want your ball hit. If you miss tap your ball goes nowhere or too far. As a Level 41 player, I find this change frustrating and unwarranted. Give us back the original Golf Blitz! If you want this type of game play make a Golf Blitz 2 or something. This is not the same game I have played for an EXTREMELY long time and invested a great deal of money in, not only for myself, but also my grandson as we play each other and I buy him the special skins as rewards for doing well around the house and at school. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS UPDATE/CHANGE. What you had before was a wonderful game that multiple generations could enjoy. Now, I don’t know if we will be able to continue playing! SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT! CHANGE IT BACK AND THIS IS A FIVE STAR GAME.

Well Done!!

Golf Blitz is one of the best games I’ve ever found on GolfBlitz Store! It’s fun, well thought out, and awesomely enjoyable individually, with friends and family, without having to pay for it!! Instead of a Pay-to-Play, as some have said, it’s a Pay-to-Support. I won’t play any game game that requires you to pay in order to feasibly progress and enjoy it. In the case of Golf Blitz, I won’t be spending any more than the couple of dollars that I already paid. Not because I had to (or even really wanted to), but because I had some leftover cash on my account and wanted to support them. Sure, one could pour an outrageous amount into it, but, in my opinion, that’s stupid, and totally unnecessary. Even without that, it would have still been (and is) a completely enjoyable, fun, and entertaining game!! As with everything, use your time-really everything- wisely as a good steward of what God has given you, and for myself personally, the time that was able to be properly used playing Golf Blitz has been awesome!!

One of my all time favorites.

I’ve had Golf Blitz for a while now so I figured I wrote a review. I see a lot of people complaining about things that don’t make any sense, like ball contact or trophies. Trust me when I say this game is amazing, and those things just add to the competitive nature. And the trophy thing is, to me, completely fair and it balances itself out. Anyway, I have been playing this game for a very long time now, months, and I never play games for that long. Definitely give this a game a try, you will not regret it. The replayability (if that’s even a word) makes it constantly fun, with new content being added all the time. 10/10 in my book!

ONE thing that I really wish they would add is a new mode, but a more permanent one. I enjoy the weekly challenges, but I really think this game could use a new mode like 2v2 or some team/clan based objective mode. That would really change things up and make it more interesting. Core mode is still fun, I just think long time players could use something new is all. Thanks.

Best golf game on the App Store

I’ve been playing this game for a few years now and I have to say, this is the only golf game you will ever need, don’t spend anything else on any other trash cash grabbing game. Okay so to start this game has lots amazing and fun ideas, although I do have some suggestions. First off I don’t think that matchmaking should be based on trophies but by levels, because sometimes when I stop playing for a while then a season or two goes by and my trophies go down, I don’t really mind though because I’m not super competitive at this game, but the problem is that when my trophies go down I’m often playing against people that are lvl 5-6 while I’m lvl 14. And second one time I was trying to log on to this game but every time I tried to load it it would just kick me out, idk what issue it is, maybe my phone or just something wrong with the game, and it was like this for a few months but then I decided to delete it and downloaded it back and it all of a sudden worked. Except all my progress was lost. I started playing again and I got back to lvl 14. So in conclusion golf blitz is an amazing game and definitely worth downloading, and developers, listen to my ideas and try to fix that glitch.
