🏷️ About: The Bridge Constructor Portal app is a unique merging of the classic Portal and Bridge Constructor games. As a new employee in the Aperture Science test lab, the player's job is to build bridges, ramps, slides, and other constructions in 60 test chambers and get the Bendies safely across the finish line in their vehicles. The app features the use of many Portal gadgets, like portals, propulsion gel, repulsion gel, aerial faith plates, cubes, and more to bypass the sentry turrets, acid pools, and laser barriers, solve switch puzzles, and make it through the test chambers unscathed. The app also features Ellen McLain, the original voice of GLaDOS, to guide the player through the tutorial.

Cloud storage issue

2022-06-04

I install on iPad. I play 3 levels. I install on iPhone and I sadly have to start from scratch so I just pass the first quizz and dont play level 1. I go back to iPad the next day. I have to start again from level 1?! I play 5 levels. The next day I open the iPad and it loads from the cloud and I have lost all iPad achievements again! It feels like each time I open the iPad it restores from my iPhone saves that is level 1 and never actually overwrites and saves my iPad achievements. I REALLY dont want to play again those 5 levels to lose them one more time. Very annoying that I can not just chose where to load from.
The game seems good though.

Not enough attention to useability +ads on iPad

2022-07-05

Gameplay is fun, but cloud syncing doesn’t work, played though first couple levels on my phone then opened BridgeConstructorPortal on my iPad which wanted me to start over from lvl 1 so I went back to phone which had now reset my progress to lvl 1.

This would be annoying under normal circumstances but this game will not let you skip or speed up the tutorial levels and they are on timers so you often have to sit there waiting for the game to let you push a button so you can advance. Having to play through the tutorial multiple times with no way to skip and no way even to speed through the text is ridiculous could be five stars but is two due to silly UX decisions.

Very little GLaDOS. No portal placement.

2022-08-06

It’s a bridge construction game. It gets difficult as others have said. Im about halfway through. I’m going to request a refund.

I’m most disappointed in the limited GLaDOS appearances. No taunting during the level. No commentary on gaining achievements. No pithy comment on level completion to take you down a peg. No over arching story. She doesn’t even make an appearance every level!

Part of what made portal great was the developing relationship between you and GLaDOS. You don’t get that here. There’s very little story.

You also get zero control of the physics in the puzzles. All the portals are static. The logic of the pathing part of the puzzle is often obvious. This is more a test of building a structure strong enough with limited anchor points.

Often you’re building the same basic structure, but there’s no ability to copy+paste, make templates, or move a group of points together, so much of your time is spent carefully rebuilding the same lattice.

If you already love bridge building games, this is prob a nice addition to your collection. But I bet the other titles by this same publisher may have better puzzles.

If you’re mostly here to spend more time in the Aperture Science Testing Facility, I’d caution this title is too meticulous for how little atmosphere there is. The devs could have had an amazing story, but it would require 3-5 times the voice acting. As it stands, it feels like a tacked on theme.

Decent

2022-09-07

This game is... meh. The portal themes are great and GLaDOS’ commentary is fun, but i found that the game started out fun, but then became tedious and headache inducing with the later levels. After level thirty I stopped having fun, the game became a chore to play and I never left it feeling good. The bridge mechanics are overly precise, moving one node to the left will cause everything to fall apart and although this level of precision sounds great, it can be really irritating.
I love puzzle games, especially portal 1 and 2, but this game was kind of disappointing.
Also I got really annoyed with the loading times, I’ve played fully 3D games on ios that have shorter load times than this and it spends way too much time trying to sync to the internet. Not to mention when it just decides to crash for no reason, but these weren’t HUGE issues, but they didn’t make my experience with the game anymore enjoyable.
The games decent if you have a head for engineering and like hard games, but I personally didn’t enjoy it and professionally didn’t find it all that engaging.

No sound and No support

2022-10-08

So I originally installed BridgeConstructorPortal on my iPhone and after playing a few levels I realize this would play much better on my iPad. So I went to BridgeConstructorPortal Store and downloaded installed the game on my iPad. But when I went to play, it had no sound. I thought it was originally a problem with my iPad or I had the volume down or mute. But when I went back to play the game on my iPhone, it no longer had sound!
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling this game on both devices and it didn't resolve the audio problem for either.
The link to BridgeConstructorPortal support within BridgeConstructorPortal Store does not work. All you get is a website that says “this space intentionally left empty”. So I went to the vendors website and sent a support email request over a week ago with no response yet!
Not a huge problem for me as I normally play games with the sound off because it can get annoying, but the lack of response to my reported issue bothers me and should be taken into consideration if you plan to purchase.

This is NOT Portal - updated

2022-11-09

These comments are not meant to contradict the many people who like this game — and I am one of those players — but as someone who played Portal 1 and 2 (and the player-designed maps) multiple times, I have to point out to the developers that part of the joy and pain of Portal is knowing you only have two portals at one time, *and* you have to figure out where to put them to do the task at hand. This game is focused on two things: (1) determine the logic of getting the vehicle from entrance to exit, and (2) figure out how to make the needed structures with the available attachment points.

For the first 30 levels I chalked up the “insanely challenging” comments to people unfamiliar with Portal, but I now understand that the game designers have devised some truly fiendish puzzles. I thought I would finish the entire game in two days, but progress has slowed dramatically ...

Another thing for the developers: for color blind people like me, the multi-portal levels can be problematic. Level 57 is making me weep. How about the ability in Build mode to touch a portal and have the corresponding portal light up or pointed to with an arrow, or something? The logic problems are challenging enough. Not knowing where a portal leads is a show stopper.

Becomes a monotonous chore

2022-12-10

The first half, we are presented with creative levels and the usual GlaDOS humor we’ve all come to love with the Portal series. But somehow it feels like the developers just lost steam during the latter portion of development. The levels become boring, uncreative, and monotonous. They artificially increased the difficulty level by removing anchor points, rather than creative level design. What a pity. Some of the later levels take an hour to beat, because of the sheer amount of trial and error required to pass it. Sometimes, it feels like the construction materials are made of paper, again an artificial method of increasing challenge, rather than by creative design.

Fun physics-based game with the clever Portal wit you’ve come to love!

2023-01-11

Great game; I’m only on level 12 of ?? And I’m having a blast. There’s the clever Portal humor and no one right way to solve each puzzle. New mechanics are still being introduced.

Never played a BC game before, but I’m a huge Portal fan. Seems like a cool mashup. Great developer response time, too; I had an issue where I was getting ads but they fixed it right away. Bravo!

Not sure what would bring this up to a 5-star for me, but it’s just not quite there. But it’s very good. No regrets. It’s only 5 bucks.

Absolutely amazing concept

2023-02-12

I would have given BridgeConstructorPortal a 5 star review because of how Amazing it is but there are just one flaw I would like to fix before giving it 5 stars. I wish that when u build a bridge and you are connecting the parts to the orange dots the radius at which they connect was slightly larger. There are many times I build them extremely close and then I have to delete it and and redo it. If the radius for the connection is made ever so slightly larger I will give this a 5 star review immediately. Otherwise great game and definitely worth the 5 dollars.

One thing to fix.

2023-03-13

Usually if I pay for an app I don’t expect it to have adds. Way to ruin a great game.

Above was my first review. However the developers have responded and fixed the issue. So now I can talk about how good this game is. First of all it is not Portal. It’s just a bridge game with a Portal theme. This is definitely not a complaint. I love this new twist of a physics based bridge game. The silly comments from everyone’s favorite AI GLaDOS are delightfully funny and the puzzles very clever. If I have any complaints it’s the issue with cloud syncing. I started on my phone and when I switched to my iPad the game didn’t sync over so I went back to my phone only to find that the cloud sync reset that game. Usually this would just be annoying but you can’t skip the tutorial so I ended up giving up and coming back a day later. The rest of this game is so nice that I can look over that. There is a simple fix however. Other games that utilize this cloud sync will prompt you before resetting your game. The prompt will say something like “newer save found would you like to use the current save of the cloud save”. So really once they fix that I can’t really find anything wrong with the game. I haven’t gotten to the end yet but I’m moving through the levels and I’ve only pulled Googled a solution once. Level 53 was a doozy.

Fixed Bug... back to being great!

2023-04-14

Great game. Innovative new approach to bridge builder which is great having played other bridge builder game.

Save game bug fixed in 1.2

Version 1.1 gets one star because when switching between my iPad and my iPhone, BridgeConstructorPortal continuously says a “new” save file was on the cloud and it actually loaded several levels back. I’ve finished to level 30 twice, and when opening BridgeConstructorPortal at a later time in the day, it says again that it has “new” save file and to “reload.” At this point I can’t get past level 28 because it won’t save new games. I deleted BridgeConstructorPortal and reloaded on both devices, but the same thing happened the second time.

Brillianr!

2023-05-15

This brilliantly designed app is a must for anyone with an engineering, physics, or just plain mechanical tinkering passion ... and a lot of dogged persistence! I just completed BridgeConstructorPortal , demonstrating that every level, including those in the Portal Proficiency add-on, is solvable for both Drive and Convoy. Be prepared to think” outside the box” to get around some particularly nasty and seemingly impossible challenges. Tip: solve every level first for Drive, then go back and optimize each solution for the more demanding Convoy. Congratulations to the design team on a brilliantly conceived and expertly implemented app!

This is how all games should be

2023-06-16

Pay a fair price and get a complete game. No hidden chargers for “hints”. No hidden chargers for extra time. No extra charge to get rid of ads. If at some time they want to sell me more levels so be it. 60 is a fair amount right now. If other designers made games to sell once rather then keep paying to win we would all be better off. Some may hate this game. Not what they thought. Blah blah blah. Do your research if this is something you would like. So far no time limits, no resource limits, just good puzzles. Others take note. We will pay for quality games.

a great puzzle game from a series i love

2023-07-17

when i saw this game on BridgeConstructorPortal store, i was instantly hooked. i'm a big fan of both Portal games so getting another Portal-like game was super exciting. the levels are interesting and will have you thinking about how you're going to complete it. it's had me playing for hours on end! sure, it's definitely no Portal, but who cares? it still gives off a Portal vibe that i know and love, with GLaDOS' condescending comments to the overall atmosphere, it makes me feel like i'm in a Portal game. maybe this'll inspire Valve to make another game. i'd love to see it happen! :D

simply AMAZING.

2023-08-18

I kinda gave up on iPhone games for a while and never really played one of these games at all, but boy when I saw Portal, I had to.

It’s a really addictive game and there’s so many different solutions to each level, it’s just super fun to play, so thank you for this experience, I can’t wait to finish all of them.

My only actual problem with the game, or I’m not even sure if it’s the game, but playing on iPhone X, with the screen making up the whole phone, the game seems to think I’m purposely touching the screen because my hands are on the edges of the screen, it’s a little irritating because it prevents me from touching anything else on the screen. Maybe add some multi touch function so it doesn’t register my hands on the edge of the screen as me touching the screen.

But that’s minor, stills and all this is amazing and deserves 5 stars.

Updated

Now that the ads are gone, what a fun game! I’ve never played portal, but the bridge building puzzler intrigued me. This kinda reminds me of the old lemmings games. Awesome work!

Ok, I started with a 5 star, then logged in today to find ads... Really? Absolutely ridiculous to have ads in a paid game. I put it to 3 stars at first as the game was good enough, but it’s an ad EVERY SCREEN... really? Remove these asap this is unacceptable.

Response to developer: At this point I’m still seeing ads, when will this update happen?

Must have for Portal fans

2023-10-20

I have had nothing but fun playing this game. GLaDOS is still making her snappy responses, seeing those classic Blue and Orange portals are super nostalgic (among the other colors from Portal 2) and the bridge construction is really fun. I’ve never played a BC before and honestly never planned on it. But when I saw this game and looked into it and found out that it wasn’t a rip-off of Portal and actually a spin-off, I knew I should give it a try. It has the same puzzling feel like Portal did by manipulating the physics and momentum used to go through Portals like Che had to in the main games, except with little cars. It’s definitely well worth the $4.99 tag and a must play for BC fans and Portal fans

Fun twist on the bridge building puzzles

2023-11-21

The Portal franchise is one of my favorites, so I was excited to see that Valve allowed licensing for this game (GlaDOS how I missed you). Even if you have never played Portal, you’ll still enjoy the humor of the game, and I think provides some freshness to the bridge building flash games you have often seem. Even when a bridge fails, you can’t help but smile at the silliness and the “dramatics” of the fail, rather than get frustrated and rage quit (we’ve all been there).

Incredibly Clever and Innovative!!!

2023-12-22

This game is amazing! The possibilities are endless! To combine bridge building with portals is such a unique way to get the most out of each level. I have always been a fan of bridge building games so I was excited when this game came out! I really hope they keep adding new levels and updates! This game is well worth the money if you are a fan of physics and bridge builders. Also, the dialogue in-game is very funny and clever, making you actually want to read what the story has to say. So far I have no complaints about this game and I hope the developers pay themselves on the back for this one and continue to add levels onto this game over time, it would also be cool to see different difficulties with heavier vehicles or maybe the vehicles carry heavier cargo. I recommend this game to anyone and everyone!

Cave Johnson ‘s Legacy continues!

I will ....just like every fan of Valve...be forever thankful of the gaming logic and entertainment they have brought us.

When we all played the Portal series we were immersed in Aperture’s test facility .

GLaDOS (Caroline) is always there to push us into the intriguing melee of ....Can human intelligence overcome the complexity of an A.I. ......it helps us essentially to....think with many different variables .

Aaahhhhhhhhh Quantum Tunnels.......if only......if only......and to be thrust into the facility just as in “Tron” .......hahahahaha.......what a live action movie that would be lol....think of it ya complete the game and........ GLaDOS simply just digitally transports you to Aperture Science Laboratory through use of ur webcam and a little help from SCIENCE!

just pray ya don’t have to inhale any moon dust......dealing with the Sentry Turrets and GLaDOS sense of humor is fun enuff!
So in Cave Johnson’s own words......
Now get out there people and DO IT FOR SCIENCE!
