I purchased CamToPlanPRO based on the apps video which shows it measuring curved rope laying on a floor along with other items nearby. Based on this, I thought it would be handy for getting rough measurements for random objects anywhere. This is what CamToPlanPRO description leads you to believe you can do.
What they don’t tell you is that CamToPlanPRO requires you to locate all four corners of a room with the camera to establish boundaries before it will measure anything! If you have to many items in the room it can’t detect all the corners and won’t go past that.
No room means no measuring anything inside or out.
I contacted the developer and asked for a refund but was told the next update would solve the problem but it was no better. Still no refund! CamToPlanPRO should have a free Trial option before wasting your money but it does not! I deleted CamToPlanPRO as it proved useless for me.

As experienced structural engineer, CamToPlanPRO is just far from being a tool for a pro. For instance, you snap the corner of a room for just a simple plan, check the dimensions of the room as plotted by CamToPlanPRO vs the actual dimensions. If they don’t match, and definitely they will never match, now you need to correct CamToPlanPRO dimensions. The only method to do so is to slide one of the end points of the line in question. The default setting fir dimension units is one decimal of an inch. I would challenge any one to be able to get it right even with ten trials.
Not worth the “pro” title or price.
By the way, there is another app that a corrected dimension just can be edited via text. Just click on the dimension, and you will be given a window to enter in text the desired dimension.

Reviewed CamToPlanPRO as a possible business solution for a large furniture retailer. I tested CamToPlanPRO in empty rooms with bright light and furnished rooms with bright light.

I found it to work reasonably (though still inaccurate) in small square spaces, it stopped working when trying to render larger spaces (400 ft sq).

As previous reviewers noted, it does not accurately measure. (I laid down a measuring tape and compared the rendering and actual). It also offers no ability to edit the rendering (other than squaring off) after measuring. I also found that initial points of the rendering would skip or jump throughout causing me to go back and re-do the entire room.

Inaccuracy of measurements, inability to edit, and cost of app all combine to receive a solid 1 star rating.

CamToPlanPRO is not operating properly. The initial post changes after the second or third point click, sometimes, on certain floors, even with very good day light and bright room lights. The lines don’t go in parallel and leaves so much flaws due to human handling error. The designs of the areas are never close to the actual setup. There should be some intelligence embedded in CamToPlanPRO to suggest a parallel line to the opposite side, and some rounding up of the distance as human hand and sight cannot get a post exact to the millimetre.

I’m not happy with paying $8+Tax for CamToPlanPRO that doesn’t help me at all. I still did all my measuring work with a manual metre measurement tool.

I do not suggest buying it. Get a demo if possible and try it for yourself first.

I did contact the support team and asked for a refund, twice, but still no reply at all. CamToPlanPRO doesn’t do what it says and is a waste of money. I got ripped off and now I’m being ignored coz I’m not giving a good review!

I didn’t pay attention to the preview before I bought CamToPlanPRO, I thought I would be able to add openings like doors and windows but there is no additional editing once outline of room is done. Would be extremely helpful if minimal architecture symbols could be added during measurement or post measurement in viewing window. I run a small electrical business and having easy rough prints would be so nice.

I find CamToPlanPRO itself to function well in terms of collecting floor plan data quickly, but need to move the data into a more sophisticated desktop drawing tool such as Adobe Illustrator. I thought the DXF export format would be the key but it is not. I found documentation online that Adobe Illustrator will not import DXF produced by AutoCad released after Feb 15, 2007. If your app is using DXF format based on later releases it will not work. Tried a DXF to AI converter plugin but did not work. Still seeking a solution but wanted to let you know this apparent limitation. Please advise if you know of another solution. Perhaps you can create another DXF export option specifically for Adobe Illustrator compatibility.

Love it! Gives me square foot and lineal foot and is spot on accurate if you use it right! Just wish it allowed me to do more than one room on a plan. I would like to be able to recreate a floor plan with multiple rooms. Right now I can do the entire space as one big room or each room as separate plans. Problem with the latter is that I can’t see where each room is on the full plan. Great app otherwise! Great job!

Very good app. It is very useful. However, the only difficulty in using it is that one has to go back to the starting point after taking a measurement. For the next measurement, it is necessary to find the ground level again as if starting from scratch. Please look into this.

I have measured two rooms multiple times and I’m getting a different reading from that each time. The difference has been within 3% which works for my line of work. If you have to be exact then this will only get you in trouble.

I just used CamToPlanPRO to measure 15 restrooms at a hospital and let me tell you how much easier it is. To not have to mess with a Measuring wheel and the. Right down the info on paper/iPhone notes app makes all the difference. Also it calculates the perimeter and totals for the entire folder for each project.

I just wish you could add a photo you could see on the same sheet.

Overall, CamToPlanPRO will get the job done. I recommend if you are considering to buy CamToPlanPRO for professional use that you do not rely on the exact dimensions given. The dimensions you create with CamToPlanPRO are not 100% true to whatever you are measuring. CamToPlanPRO , however, is amazing for reference floor plans as well as prototype usage. All in all, you’ll get you money’s worth.

This thing is fantastic and makes measuring spaces very easy. I only wish that once you created a plan that it let you draw shapes of a given dimension inside the plan. That or let me pick the pins up as I make the plan so that I can simulate furniture in the space.

Does as advertised.. perfect for my needs able to put together a bid... it’s prolly about 5% off in either direction but that Is because it’s all about the user placing the flags properly.. but if you can’t do a material order or proposal with those margins then your clearly not a professional!!!

This is CamToPlanPRO I have always wanted. It’s pure magic to tap on a few reference points while you’re slowly moving around a room, or walking around the yard, and get accurate plan view drawings, complete with area and perimeter measurements. I tried it on some smaller items, and it’s quite accurate.

Good estimates I would say....keep in mind this is a close estimate, not an exact measurement. If you want to have a good idea, this would be CamToPlanPRO . It comes in handy if you’re doing interior design work or need measurements to see if an object would fit on a specific space. Likes CamToPlanPRO so far.

Absolutely love CamToPlanPRO it’s very accurate and it saves a ton of time in my business not having to deal with tape measures on the job and is great if Google Earth does not work for whatever reason and where you’re trying to measure for any type of quotes.

Without having thoroughly tested its accuracy, I have done several rough tests (after many turns and twists, are the angles true and does the end point match up with the starting point). The results seem promisin. When I am being careful about positioning the corners, CamToPlanPRO seems accurate to within a percent or less. Your mileage may vary, of course!

This is the most incredible app yet designed for estimating and doing as built drawings. I use to app to a measure a extremely odd shape room that would have taken a hour to measure and draw it took less than three minutes what a tremendous time saver. CamToPlanPRO should be own everybody iPhone who does estimates from millwork flooring real estate etc. Architects are going to love CamToPlanPRO.

I’ve read a few complaints about the difficulty in measuring and catching all four corners when there are too many items in the room. A simple solution that will reduce your time even that much quicker.... Measure the ceiling area just above the floor area. It the SAME measurements/square footage. This should solve that issue until the next version comes out.

More than worth the money to pay for it... it is very very useful... for a TAPE measure to compete with this one 💥Ha💥
It would have to be pretty large in size and/or bulky ... this one is pretty much invisible and always available in low light in the rain in the snow in the snowmobile in the airplanes in the boat in the car anywhere you could pretty much music as long as you have a little creativity and imagination

I didn’t have high expectations for it being as it’s on my phone, but as a salesman for flooring and quick measurements for blueprints it does a quick job. Just don’t be ordering cabinets or trusses off the measurements.
