Love the classes, hate the app

2024-11-17

I wanted to love Bluprint as much as I love the tutorials, however it’s super annoying to use. It regularly and inexplicably goes from full-screen to a zoom mode that cuts off the bottom and top. Which includes the timeline, bookmarks and worse yet, the image I’m being shown how to paint. I can’t get it to stay in full-screen. It also gets totally confused if I’ve paused and my display times out. When I open the phone back up the video is black, will not play at all. I have to close it and then go back into the lesson and skip forward again to where I was.

Update: the developer responded by saying I should contact the support team, but these aren’t errors, nor my responsibility to take time out of my day to note and work through with them. Get an iPad or an iPhone and try running your own content. Note if you can press your own full screen button and still see 100% of the content. Try and press the bookmark button while in full screen mode in either Bluprint or while logged in through Safari (hint, you can’t, it’s not there), or switch to another app while in playback and try and pick back up. I am using exclusively apple products, fully updated and new. It’s not exclusive to my system. Be already spent as much of my time as I am going to on troubleshooting your app. As soon as I’ve watched the tutorials I’m most interested in I’m done here...

The Ap is a mess!

2024-11-17

I have been on Craftsy for many years and purchased more than 40 classes. I recently started watching one of my Craftsy forever classes and was unable to open the materials section. I finally was able to get the this app folks to email it to me, not something I want to do for every class I have purchased from Craftsy. I also can’t find a tab for comments or uploading photos but it probably wouldn’t work- like the materials tab. I noticed in one of the responses to a prior disgruntled reviewer the developer noted that “class materials are presently restricted to members holding a subscription “. So much for total access to your lifetime classes!
I was planning to subscribe but the site is so poorly run that I wouldn’t be surprised to find this app shut down.
No, I would not recommend this app to an enemy unless I wanted to make them insane. Hopefully they’ll get s#*t worked out but it sure is taking them a long time.

What a royal mess!

2024-11-17

I just updated to the new and improved this app app. Can’t access my account. Can’t access the materials for the classes. Won’t let me restore purchases because it says someone is using that account. Yes, I am logged in and trying to use it! No one else has my account info. I have a full year membership that is basically no longer working. Oh, and I can no longer download my PAID individual classes for viewing off line like I could with the Craftsy app.

After Developer Response...my name and login have not changed. I’ve been a Craftsy customer for several years and this is year two of subscribing. Everything worked before the update. I sent an email through this app’s customer service on Saturday. It’s now Thursday. Other than the usual “we received your email,” I’ve heard nothing from anyone.

Needs a huge amount of work

2024-11-17

This is one of the least intuitive apps I have ever worked with on my iPad. To reopen it you need to press the original this app icon because the icon on the recent apps bar will not reopen it.

I found it hard to create a subscription in the first place and the help functions (including their email help people and even the developer comments here) are nearly useless!

I have a subscription and just bought a class with a coupon hoping to see the class discussions and student photos. This interactive aspect was one of the best features of the Craftsy platform and App. Imagine my shock when I discovered I can only see discussions etcetera if I view my class through the main this app site. Discussions don’t appear on lessons played through Bluprint . This has never been the case with the old Craftsy App.

Compared with Craftsy, this platform is worse than a lumbering dinosaur. The idea of being able to view all classes on subscription and buy only those you really like is excellent but Bluprint is pathetic.

I have just further reduced my App rating because of the class discussion issues. I will gladly increase it, if and when the various App problems are solved.

Frustrating

2024-11-17

I’m not a fan of Bluprint. I have a monthly subscription that I’m thinking of canceling because half the time I have to go back and forth between Bluprint and the website. “Instructors” take forever to respond, if they respond at all. You cannot download materials from Bluprint nor can you upload questions, comments or pics to Bluprint . Most of the time where you were in a video isn’t saved. The buttons to expand to full screen don’t work. I really love the content but I just don’t think it’s worth it to deal with an inferior user interface.

I think it’s safe to say I am done with Bluprint. It is an absolute waste of money. And I’m not the only one having the issues I’ve been instructed to contact customer support for. There are too many bugs.

Offline Content and Downloads Need Improvement

2024-11-17

Hello this app! I love what you’re about but your app needs work - especially in the area of downloading and watching offline content. I had several classes and episodes downloaded on my iPad. I added several more in preparation for two cross country flights. I got on the plane to find that the only episodes that showed up were the last set of episodes I downloaded! 6 or 7 other classes showed up on the Downloads page and appeared as if they were downloaded but had no content. I’m now sitting in an airport hoping to download episodes again that were already downloaded! Please expand your user acceptance test cases. This user is sending Bluprint back to Development.

They deleted my previous review

2024-11-17

I came here to edit it and it’s gone. I basically said they are a nightmare. You ask them to fix issues in their system (awkward workings, and they want you to go through multiple unnecessary steps to search crap on the platform) and they offer you the basic canned line of offering to help you trouble shoot. Do they not see how insulting that is? I’ve read the other reviews. Everyone else is saying the same thing. Maybe it’s not us? Maybe your app is crap. By the way, it no longer lets me download course materials. Only option is to print. There is no save feature from the print option. The last update made it even more stupid

App is crap

2024-11-17

It doesn’t sync with other devices so if you switch from watching on your computer to watching on Bluprint . It starts from the beginning. You need to remember where you were and manually go there. It’s also slow to respond - long enough that you might keep touching icons. When it finally responds, you end up going past where you wanted to be.

After watching for an hour or so, the buttons become unresponsive. I was trying to hide the chapter display to get a full screen experience. Instead I managed to make the video smaller with a big chunk of the screen displaying nothing. And the maximize button no longer worked ... if it ever did.

This is when I realized there’s no link to tech support or any kind of help from within Bluprint . There may not have been one in the old Craftsy app either, but guess what? I didn’t need it because Bluprint worked. I prefer to watch from my tablet while trying to follow along with the craft. Bluprint makes that frustrating. A poor experience overall.

Glitchy

2024-11-17

I love the content of this app. However, Bluprint is really glitchy on an ipad. If Bluprint is open, but I’m using another app, I almost always have to completely close the this app app, then re-open it to get it to work again. VERY ANNOYING! Also, it always opens to the main screen, instead of staying on the video I am watching, even if I just switch to another app for a minute. The technology to make this much better is there...this app just needs to invest a little time in development. If the basis of my company was to provide VIDEO instruction across a variety of platforms, I would make sure it actually worked on the most common devices my customers would be using.

Love the site, frustrated by the app.

2024-11-17

this app is a truly amazing resource. As an artist who is always looking for new things to dig my hands into, it’s a great way to try a lot of different things. Bluprint , however, is a bit frustrating. The design is beautiful. A wonderful, clean interface. Much better than the previous app. It seems to be functionally okay. However, when linking my subscription, it isn’t picking up that I have a gift subscription maybe? Because I cannot access anything past “sneak peeks.” So back to my computer I go. Hopefully these issues will be sorted out soon, as I would love to take my projects, like drawing objects in motion, out into the real world!

Good idea but needs work

2024-11-17

I did the trial of Bluprint and while I watched a few classes within that week I found it a little annoying that when looking for actual classes they had “shows” mixed in. Also would’ve liked to have a separate section where all the classes geared for children were instead of thinking it would be a detailed class only to feel like I was sitting in on parent day at elementary school. Otherwise, if you take the time and search long enough you’ll find some real gems. Another suggestion would be to allow non subscribers to view the intro videos. You might get more subscribers if they could see a bit of the instructor and class

Video playing issues

2024-11-17

I love this platform’s idea and contents. The issues I have are with Bluprint video playing. It does not toggle well between other phone applications. For example, if an alarm goes off in the middle of a video, and you go right back to the video - it is often times frozen. You have to restart the video from the beginning and try to find where you left off.

That’s the other complaint. If I start watching class videos, this app should remember where I left off. It does not do this. I have to remember and find where I last stopped.

New app needs tons of work

2024-11-17

You can no longer enlarge the video. Try beta testing before launching to test obvious defects in your app. Update and fix this quickly. I love this app...but not the new iOS app. Also, now when you want to see classes in one category, say for instance Sewing, you get all kinds of unrelated classes and the classes that were there are gone. I’ve recommended this app in the past but no more until you put it back to the way it was. How about not fixing something that wasn’t broken instead of breaking something that worked just fine the way it was. Unbelievable.

Just what I’ve been looking for!

2024-11-17

I just started on this app, and I can already tell I’m going to enjoy my time! The layout and functionality is very accessible and easy on the eyes. It gives amazing options for projects you can be starting. For myself, I have always been comfortable with my two hobbies, and now I can introduce myself to more at my own pace. The instructional videos are a key part to learning new skills, which makes me very happy to them provided.
Truly can’t wait to continue enjoying Bluprint! I highly recommend!

Full screen mode in app is not working now

2024-11-17

Not sure if Bluprint was recently updated, but when I went in this morning, I had to re-sign in and now I can’t view videos in full screen landscape. It’s just a small video window on the left with the chapters listed on the right. I was on the other day and was able to. When I view videos from the website, however, full screen landscape works. Please fix this ASAP. Thanks.
