Incredible Update

I love the changes and I think this is a huge step in the right direction. The layout is user friendly and easy to navigate, and doesn’t crash! Also, i adore seeing updates based around what the community asks for and the fantastic developer responses. Here are a few nit-picky things I would like to see in the future: every couple models or so it makes you wait a few seconds which can just get annoying so fluent model showings, when I save a model even if i have just one folder it asks which folder i would like to save the model to and that gets deterring as well, and it is hard to tell if Thinger is for 3D printing and laser cutting or not as many of the models are just ideas or full on projects with electronics and things like that. Maybe different categories in the future?

Good but seriously lacking UI sensibility

I just spent 20 mins swiping left and right on about 100 items and none of my right wipes saved. I then remembered this was the case from the last time I used it and now I'm upset. Swiping right should not do the same thing as swiping left...this is a common interaction model that you are breaking. Right swipes should be saved in a default list and allow for sorting later... Something I also can't do in Thinger is move an item from one list to another... What?

Sometimes my brain just wants to swipe and organize later... Keep the down swipe as is but make a right swipe for a quick save...

Your UI is gorgeous, but if you're gonna copy the tinder swipe model... Actually copy it so people know what they're doing intuitively. Fix your UX plz.

Good concept, needs some work

Although this is a good idea, it needs several fixes to be useful. You need to be able to both “favorite” and “mark to print” an object, rather than only putting it in one list or the other. You also are currently unable to delete/remove an object you accidentally put on the wrong list. The ability to open the object in safari is also essential but missing (you can export it to some other apps, but that makes it a two step process to get it to safari). A search or categories function would also be useful, but not as important as the other points mentioned.
Overall, this is a good concept, but the implementation is very rough around the edges.

Needs a few tweaks

I don’t have a Twitter, so my feedback is going here instead.

This is a great app that really needs a few upgrades. The biggest one that would help I think is a way to delete or unlike designs from the favorites list. I’ve got a few on mine that I accidentally swiped over. Another might be a way to mark on the favorites if the design has already been emailed or printed.

A way to search only for those designs which interest you would be great- I keep getting designs for fidget spinners that I have no interest in.

Finally, a way to communicate for those of us who don’t have Twitter would be helpful. Not everybody uses the same social media or wants their feedback posted for all to see.

Other than that, this is a great simple app. I have found many designs that I want to try for myself!

Awesomeness

Awesome app! Love how easy it is to find things with search tool and discover pages. Being able to create multiple list is also very helpful! I only have 2 suggestions to make this better.
1. Not all the items on Thingiverse are available on Thinger.
2. When using the discover page, I can only view about 10 ideas before it has to load again.
Otherwise, great app!

It works but has quite a few issues

Silly that you need to create an account to use Thinger . Why not just store the saved models locally? Also, Facebook integration doesn’t work because it never redirects back to Thinger after signing I’m with FB. Another issue is when deleting a list the screen goes blank and Thinger needs to be restarted. Last gripe is that both right and left swipe counts as a skip which is completely different with how other “swiping” apps work. Swipe left should be skip and swipe right should be save.

Great App - TERRIBLE Ads

Like another reviewer noted, this is the tinder of STL’s. I’ll often find myself saving things I know I will have a use for later, or a tool. It has helped make my printer more of a utility (good for WAF).

Dev poisoned it with full screen, 5 second initially unskipplable ads with the micro “x” close button that brings you to the advertisement 30% of the time. Banner ads would be more appropriate.

Enjoy all the 3D models

I really enjoy all the 3D models. The interface is great! My only complaint and the reason for four stars is several of the ads that pop up can’t be closed. I have to force quit Thinger to get back to enjoying the models.

Cool but needs work

I love the idea and I don’t have a printer just yet but will test out the many cool things I’ve seen here. My only complaint is that every few groups of items I’m shown it loops and entire group. Also I’d like to suggest tabs for categories of things to look for, like props, home tools, DnD, etc.

Awesome 3D print app

Great app for the 3D printing enthusiast. The randomization makes it exciting to discover the things you didn’t consider or didn’t know existed to print. Deciding on what to print next is the toughest part.

Can only view one item at a time??

You can only view one thing at a time, and if you swipe it away and find something to save, everything you already swiped away comes back and you have to go through all the rejects again. Less than two minutes in before a sex toy appeared. Deleted.

Crashes often!

Great app, however, it crashes far too often. Every 10-15 likes or dislikes and I have to reopen Thinger . Also, if there was a search bar to look for specific things, that would be great! Otherwise, I enjoy Thinger . I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

A great idea

What a great idea to take Tinders system and apply it to sorting through a million 3D print ideas. Simply brilliant.

One critique though, perhaps a paid no ad option?

Amazing

Overall it’s a very great app, it’s easy to use and easy to export 10/10 would recommend.

I used to love this app!

I used to use Thinger so much, but over the past 6-10 months (I think), every time I open Thinger , it just loads. Nothing ever pulls up. I used to still be able to access all of my things saved, and for the past, but now it’s all gone. Just showing me a loading screen.

This is cool!

Been waiting for something like this :)

Poor App

Thinger cannot adjust to the position of the iPad and thus makes it hard to use, especially for those of us with smart or magic keyboards.

You have to take your iPad turn it vertically and then the swipe is not terribly great either. The swipe is gratuitous and would be better suited to just a button for as well as the swipe works.

Thinger did allow me to create an account immediately with my Apple ID / Apple Account which was very nice.

With the lack of a decent user experience, I’ll stick with ThingVerse via web, as clunky as that is.

Advertisement app with some 3d print models

The utility Thinger offers is stunted by the onslaught of advertisements shoved in your way.

I’m all for needing to generate revenue for a free app, but there is a balance to engagement and spamming.
Thinger shows you adverts with an occasional 3d model. I’m sad I just gave them my email address. My inbox will probably regret that choice…

Worked for a while

Initially Thinger would crash every couple of minutes, which wasn’t that big of an issue. Now it won’t even get past the first item before crashing.

Love it!

I love Thinger. It helps me when I have no clue what to print, or when I need to find a certain types of prints

Love flipping through, but..

Love flipping through models here, but your latest update puts save buttons right in front of the names of the models when using my iPhone. Annoying...
