Purchased but won't download. Running iOS 10.3.4 I hope the developer will fix.

I purchased this so I could type in night mode to get down ideas that come to me in the night for my work. As an artist this is a key part of my process. Edit seemed like the answe. It’s so close to being great- the only problem is the white text flashes every time you hit return! This also happens when you fill a line of text and your curses moves to the next line pushing all the text up and at that moment the whole page flashes. This strobing effect is startling and takes me out of the flow. I would kindly ask the developer to please fix this and I’d be happy to give it 5 stars.Thank you!

Please add iCloud sync. Then Edit would truly be perfect for me.

I used Drafts for a while, and it got really bloated and complex and also very expensive. If you want a simple place to write text to copy or send to another app, this is it.
And unlike Drafts, it’s a single one time purchase, instead of yet another monthly software rental.

Could Edit use San Francisco font instead? Or even a small selection of built-in fonts?

iCloud support would make it perfect. Would love to be able to save on one device and see on another.

Beautiful. Simple. Elegant. Perfect… almost.
The only thing it needs, in my opinion, is iCloud sync. I want to type something in my iPad and access it on my iPhone and vice versa. I don’t think that would compromise the concept and or pollute the nature of the experience.
No need to clutter up the interface with a Settings button, etc. The syncing for Edit could hidden away and enabled or disabled in the main iOS Settings App where the majority of my other App setting are.
I feel bad for not giving it 5 Stars, but syncing would be true perfection for me.

It’s amazing that in today’s age of do-all solutions to everything, an app as simple as this one is exactly what everyone is looking for. I use this app to jot thoughts to remember until I can get back to my notebook and copy them down, then I delete the notes and start fresh. That’s not how everyone uses it though, and I think that’s wonderful. It’s a perfectly simple solution to a problem that other apps attempt to over complicate. The pureness of Edit means it launches instantly and never gets in the way of itself.

What if Edit you were using just did one thing? It would be simple. It would be useful. And there would be little else to say.
How lovely it is to cynically stare down a marketing page—tutting at the suckers who’d buy a single persistent screen for text—only to click “buy” on a whim and find yourself delighted by the result.
You’re wrong, cynical self. Or you’re right and I just don’t care.
iOS 12 and Siri shortcuts will be a wonderful addition to what this app already does: capture text quickly so you can send it elsewhere to become the million things that text becomes.
Here’s to simple, delightful software, and the joy of just doing the thing you meant to do. Like this review, for example. 🙂

Thrilled about Edit. Exactly what I needed! I love iA writer for macOS but it’s a little slow on the draw in iOS. Edit fills the gap and *yes* it exports .txt files to Files or Dropbox! 🙏🏾

I have a terrible memory. Tell me to write something down and I have about 30 seconds to do so before it’s gone forever. this app fixes that for me because it does what it says on the tin: lightning fast text editing. Unlock Phone >> this app Icon >> Type. There’s _zero_ waiting.
That being said, if I want to make a list or take more time to draft an email I can do that too. And if I need to put it down for a minute to do something else I know what I’ve written is right there waiting for me.
If you’re skeptical about paying for such a simple app, remember, simple things are often the most useful. A chef’s knife is simple but you’ll pay for one made with craftsmanship because it’ll last you a lifetime. It’s the same thing with this app. Just a solid app, made with craftsmanship.

Love the simplicity of Edit ! No need to worry about setting up scripts and actions in order to share quick notes.
Only request would be to add a widget to access Edit quicker.

Between this app and Things, no other apps come close to how quickly you can jot down ideas and evolve them into actionable projects.
No jargon, no bloating, just simple, fast. Kudos for saying no to a million features.

In the coming era of Shortcuts, what more of an interface to text could you want than this? A single screen to get it all down, and a share button to do whatever you want with it in other apps. It's delightful.

Edit does one thing and does it well. It allows for writing totally devoid of distractions and to see how many words you produce. I only wish you could select a larger font size for easier viewing. Highly recommended for focused writing!

This is practically the platonic ideal of an app: using a phone to save you a little bit of trouble (carrying paper/pen in your pocket) without sucking you into a vortex of time wasting possibilities. And the ten year guarantee seems entirely attainable given the program’s simplicity. Failing that, there is the pledge to release the source in the event of premature abandonment, a noble principle which I hope to see more broadly adopted.

To make an app so simple, and yet so useful, is an indication to where the developer’s skills are tailored. This is an app i use almost daily to temporarily hold my clipboard and also often when composing written pieces that pull from multiple sources, due to its ease of use and, again, the simplicity. Edit stays on page 1 of my home screen.
by Pdlahue
My favorite notepad. Front and center on my home screen. I use this daily and find myself reaching for it frequently in conversation to snag the name of a band, movie, or book I need to check out. Also my favorite app for jotting down lyrics or notes to myself while driving via voice texting. Fewer taps means I can get back to my conversation, (or the road) and deal with sorting and storing the info later.

Edit is perfectly minimal, and has a permanent place on my home screen.
I recently upgraded to an iPhone Xr, though, and I can see that Edit is blown up from iPhone X resolution. Will you update to address this, KQ?

Should there come a time over the next decade where I'm unable to update Edit to run on the latest version of iOS, I'll open source the code for anyone to download and run themselves.
Because of that, I'm slapping a 10-year good faith guarantee on Edit's general availability.
The other benefit of this simplicity is that Edit should continue to run without issue on iOS devices for years to come.
I've intentionally kept Edit simple so it stays fast and easy to maintain.
Edit is a super fast scratchpad for your thoughts, drafts, and notes.
There's no document storage, because whatever you leave in Edit will be there when you get back.
Once you're done writing, you can send or save your text to anywhere in iOS via the Share Sheet.
Think of it as a single sheet of paper, not a notebook.
