Complete and utter failure

2022-05-22

Ahead of a bucket list trip down the Colorado River beginning at the base of the Hoover Dam, I purchased this to have a documentary trace of my time with my son and his Boy Scout troop. We canoed for three days through the Black Canyon and I started a track each day. While WatersportsTracker was able to provide some data about distance and time, we were on the water for 6-7 hours each day. Each day, WatersportsTracker killed my Watch before I was done paddling so I could never close my loop.

When we got back home, I wanted to share my life-changing trip with family and friends. I had three records. All of them showed 0 miles and no capture of the trip.

Thank you for negating my records of my bucket list trip. Worthless. Garbage. I have no records. Failures. I want my money and my trip back.

Could be great

Good basic app for paddling and the paid version looks really good. However, the paid version is a subscription which will get to be a bore at some point. Moreover, there is a bug In WatersportsTracker that will interfere with Apple Music and drive you crazy. Let me know when it is fixed...otherwise ..,no thanks

Not great to sync with Apple activity

2022-07-24

I have the subscriber version.
Unfortunately I get heart rate chart unavailable and the calories burned don’t sync with the Apple Activity app. I use the latest version of IOS and Watersports. Apple Watch 4. iPhone 11.
Also Apple Activity calls my sessions as Surfing, although I am either foiling or kitesurfing. (Different disciplines).

I don’t have similar issues with Dawn Patrol.

Overall, great app! Am having trouble with a couple things

2022-08-25

Love WatersportsTracker, overall. I rely on the audio mile marker callouts and appreciate the maps and collected data. The newer video route feature is an added benefit.
I could use some help.
There used to be a summary page for the splits. I can’t find it any more. I miss it, as it was one of the more useful tools for me. I often paddle 6-12 miles, and the summary is much more useful than the detailed info for each mile.
The second issue is that I frequently paddle with a friend and we consistently get different mileage. We both have iphones ( one is a 10 and one is an 11). We use the same app, start and finish at the same time, paddle the same route. She consistently logs more mileage than I do. On a paddle earlier this week, I had 7.03miles and she had 7.68. That is about a 10% difference. The further we paddle, the larger the discrepancy. Why is this happening and who has the right mileage?

Almost exactly what I need

2022-09-26

A few minor features I’d like to have, like remembering your recent workout types and putting those at the top or vibration feedback when your watch is under your wetsuit. But overall works in all the important ways.

Useful with cross tracking issues

2022-10-27

I was very excited to use WatersportsTracker. Features very similar to RunKeeper with specific paddling settings. I have an iPhone 11pro and and Apple Watch SE. All permissions between WatersportsTracker , Health and the watch are on and open, but none of my paddles have recorded in my watch activity whether started on the phone or watch. It’s really frustrating. I’m fairly tech savvy and even had a friend more tech capable check that all was correct. 🤷‍♀️ I don’t want to delete it and lose all my tracking for the past month.

Pro features?

2022-11-28

I am a very active paddle boarder and love to use WatersportsTracker for tracking my adventures. The tracking of my route, time, distance is all fantastic! Love that it is compatible with the Apple Watch.

My only reason for not giving 5 stars is I would like to possibly upgrade to the pro version however no where does it say what features are included with the subscriptions if you could inform us users of what’s included I bet more would subscribe

Great app but need to update for IOS 14

2022-12-29

Sharing the track is still not fixed and is way displaced from the actual track.

Does exactly what I need it to

2023-01-30

I had a bumpy start with WatersportsTracker in the beginning. Just some activity saving issues and communication. Everything has long since sorted itself out and it has been working very consistently. My wife and I use this to track our SUP sessions. It’s very easy to use and captures a lot of data. It’s easy to start, pause and stop workouts. It communicates with Apple health. I recently tried the pro features for a week, but don’t really need that kind of info these days. While I do paddle for exercise, I paddle on perceived rate of exertion vs a bunch of stats, and really only like to see my distance. WatersportsTracker does show my speed as 0 quite often(green line), even when I’m clearly moving. Not sure what’s up with that, but the distance still tracks (I think).

Great, but some suggestions

2023-03-03

Great app. I use it for kayaking and swimming to track my speed, distance and to review my route. WatersportsTracker gives great data points for each session, but, when reviewing everything I did this month/year, it clumps both activities together, which skews the information. I’d also love the ability to title each session.

Does everything I ask

2023-04-01

First Watersports app that does what it says it does. I’m going to try the pay version soon.

Finally

2023-05-03

I used to use the Kayak log and it disappeared found This one is amazing everything you need for a paddle.

Data Worthy

2023-06-03

We needed an app that would track our mileage and MPH while training for The MR340 race. This provided that while also being able to save each session for comparison. Good app!

Kayaking

Nice general app for tracking distance, time, speed and route. It works well for someone who just wants to keep a journal of their trips.

Great App

2023-08-05

Really love WatersportsTracker for tracking and data from my Kayak trips. Easy to use, and great data; speed graphs, maps, distance ( with announcements every mile). The animated map is very cooktop show others. Highly recommended.

Kayaking Tracker

2023-09-06

I finally found an app that is specifically for water sports! I kayak regularly and have been frustrated at the lack of apps available specifically for the sport, until now!

As far as WatersportsTracker goes, it’s very easy to use on the watch and hasn’t crashed yet. Love it!

AW app stellar; iPhone app great!

2023-10-08

First off replacing my other review. I went I to settings to enable Apple Health. WatersportsTracker so far does it all very well. The AW side of things super easy to control and provides positive feedback on wrist while out on the water. I look forward to trying more this weekend!

Great app

2023-11-08

I have used it 10 times. It is what I have been looking for. I just have the basic app right now. But will probably go with the paid version come spring. Love using it for kayaking. I put my iphone on a tripod holder where I can monitor speed and distance at a glance.

Great App

2023-12-10

Exactly what I was looking for. The watch app tracks my location, heartbeat, etc, and everything syncs with Activity. Then I can check out the map of my paddle when I’m back on shore with my phone. And the three-month Pro package is appreciated by those of us in climates where a full year Pro package would go unused for more than half the year. Thanks!

Water sports this is a must have app

2024-01-10

I love WatersportsTracker. It tracks all the information I'm looking for from a kiteboarding session. Love how it links to activity and calculate your calories burned. Awesome stuff on WatersportsTracker . Only thing I'd like to see is being able to remove activities that I'm not going to do. For me I only want kite surfing to pop up when I'm starting it. Awesome job guys

Silent mode???

2024-12-11

Aloha, nice app so far but is there a way to turn off the voice mileage tracker???

Kayaking app

2024-12-11

I absolutely love WatersportsTracker! I love the fact it shows you how intense your rapids are... Best app I have ever used.

Auto waterproof

Please insert waterproof so that it starts activating

This app is not user friendly, I can't delete old sessions that are skewing my results. I am an outrigger canoer and from others in our group gps measurements we average about 6 mph. This app is all over the map. One time we went 4.5 miles in one hour and the app gave me an average speed of 12.5 mph and a high od 13.5 (??????), do the math, impossible. Yesterday the measurement was 2.29 miles, OK, at 4.64 mph, low, and a max speed of 9.91 mph, impossible. Now I may have started the app before we began to paddle and ended after we stopped, OK, but shouldn't it measure speed when you are moving? I can't fool with my phone and paddle at the same time and the water proof case is not user friendly.
