Poor App

I was looking for a AQI app and downloaded this one based on reviews, even paid for the Pro version. I’m pretty disappointed. Doesn’t show an AQI station nearby that state agencies use for AQI reporting; the nearest station AirQualityPollen recognizes is over an hour drive away. I also can’t set a station on the widget, at any distance away, so the widget is useless. The AQI map is unreadable in dark mode, another useless feature just like the widget. Tried the “contact support” link in settings but the link doesn’t work. I’m running the latest iOS software so that’s not an issue. Do yourself a favor and go with EPA’s AirNow. I don’t know why that app has poor reviews; its much better than this one (and recognizes a nearby AQI station that this one doesn’t).

Great Application for Air Quality

Read the monitors in my area throughout the day since I had a lung illness years ago and have to be careful when outside especially now with fires and smoke in Central California to plan my day whether I can venture out or not. The news channels give a general forecast but with this great program can look exactly where you live.

With Covid-19 and smoke combined makes this young 76 year old 😀having local monitors has been a great to have to protect me so I can still have a good quality of life during these crazy times.

Thank you

So helpful

AirQualityPollen is great because it’s easy to use and accurate. I started using AirQualityPollen last year to keep track of the air quality do to all the smoke from the fires. I live in California and this year the fires are much closer. I click on app and I get current air quality conditions close to home not the average for an area which is also available. Numbers can differ immensely in the foothills in short distances, so I want to know what I am dealing with verses someone else conditions a mile away.

Great App - A few bugs

I like the new favorites display and I’m very happy to see all previous features intact. I have depended on AirQualityPollen quite a bit during this especially bad wildfire season in California, and have recommended it to many friends that also love it.

I’m disappointed, however, that it will not maintain settings. I keep toggling for it to open up to the current location, and when I reopen that is turned off again. I’m currently in Texas and it wants to open up to my last location in California. I have to use the map to search for a nearby station and then set that as a favorite so that I can look at it.

Updated information not always available

Several locations have not updated their information. The one I was trying to use, CA Jackson - Stoney Creek, was showing information from February instead of today (April 2, 2021). Also, when trying to find a location, the program will not allow you to type in the complete name of a location. It anticipates the wrong place and won’t allow more letters to be added to the search. You should be able to continue typing the name before the program takes over.

Widget Config Issues (Updated)

Updated - The team fixed this issue and it is working great now. Very worth the purchase with the widget functional for my region! (Would love if the widget showed the actual aqi number not just the color, hence the four stars.)

I like AirQualityPollen a lot, so much so I actually paid for the subscription to be able to use the widget. However, I am entirely unable to get the widget to configure correctly for my location (despite all the restarts/re-installation of AirQualityPollen ). If you’re going to guard a feature as paid, it should work.

Essential app for fire areas

I live downwind of a large fire 12 miles away. There were days when it was “raining “ ashes and the smoke was terrible at times. I used AirQualityPollen several times a day to monitor air quality. I am lucky because the monitoring station is one street over so it is very accurate. I also like the Favorites feature. I keep tabs on the air quality for my family in Santa Rosa and Napa Valley.
Now the smoke is gone but I still check our air quality daily.

Quick, Timely, Accurate

AirQualityPollen is great. I check it every morning to see when it’s safe to venture outside without a mask. Living in an area of Northern California that’s so close to the many fires, most of us are checking the AQI multiple times daily. Although it’s pretty obvious that the air is bad because the sky’s grey or there’s ash everywhere, or it smells smoky, there are also the deceptive days with bad AQI even though everything looks and smells just fine.

More accurate then the government

This gives you a more accurate reading of the air your breathe then the government site. In my area it is 30 miles away and when AirCare read unhealthy in my area the government site said it was moderate. I have high risk people breathing the air in here. I can’t afford to open windows when the air is unhealthy! Saving up to buy my own sensor so I can assist others.

Essential app for California

I consult this daily to check on air quality so that I know when to wear a pollution mask and when to keep doors and windows closed. It’s also helpful so I know when walks need to be short for my dogs and the air purifier kept on all day even when the air doesn’t smell of smoke. It’s more specific than the government warnings-as you can look up areas of your town.

A godsend during wildfires

Even though I’m in the San Francisco Bay Area, the fog and coastal breezes haven’t been sufficient to alleviate the smoke (and worse, the minuscule particulate matter), from the air. However, I do still need to leave the house, and I do still need to open the windows, so I rely on AirQualityPollen to allow me those brief intervals when the air that I breathe will be relatively safe.

Nice, but limited

I really like the air quality feature ( SO much more accurate than apples weather app) but I wish there were more options in AirQualityPollen wrt weather info. I don’t want to open up apps to my personal info (I’m happy to provide feedback when asked).
Like the NOAA app, they require too much info - your app could be that ideal in-between. More info / less personal info required AND, accurate )

Precise and local

Being a California resident, we’ve experienced an especially difficult fire year. An AQI reporting app. became very important. This one is an instant report with a very brief reminder of the protocols for the AQI level reported. I know where the monitor is located so know that the levels being registered are less than 1 mile from my house.

By

Broken other than AQI

AirQualityPollen will show you the local AQI and has a nice map. However, AQI is all it will show you. When you view the map you can select many different pollutants and allergens like pollen, etc. But whenever I select any of the options other than AQI I just get a loading circle forever, it never loads the information. This makes AirQualityPollen quite useless unless all you want is AQI. I was hoping to be able to track many types of pollutants and allergens in one app. Not this one!

Accurate information is important

I’m an essential worker who has to work outside everyday. It helps me to know the air quality to prepare mentally and physically to do my job. There are sensors both close to my house and close to my job. I always know what the air quality is now. AirQualityPollen hasn’t let me down.

I live in fire country

I have tried other apps and this is the best. I live in Northern California where all the fires are. I would walk out in the morning and could see anything but smoke and white ash falling lie snow. AirQualityPollen I was using at the time showed a AQI27. AirQualityPollen showed 234. Which for the conditions was accurate. I just wish they would allow more than 3 locations for “favorites “.

Handy app for our apocalypse!

The only improvement I can see for this helpful app is to be able to save a list of favorite locations. Otherwise this is super useful in California these days when we never know whether the air is breathable or not. The smell of smoke in the air, or no smell, is not a sufficient indicator of the presence of very fine particulate matter which can be particularly unhealthy to deep breathe in.

I recommend it.

Overall this is a good app and great with the So. Cal Fires. The map is great and it touches on the fires and wind direction which is a great feature.

The only thing is that it doesn’t make it easy to find a location you might need to go to. I had to go to An OC city and it could not find it. You might need to find a neighborhood near your destination to get an idea of the air quality.

Great Ap.

With all the smoke and poor air quality we have been having this year, I go to this ap frequently during the day. That’s when I decide to take a walk, go outdoors for lunch, or do something inside with a mask on. I have really become dependent on this ap to direct my daily activities and to protect my health.

By

Wonderful

This is such a helpful application I use it all the time several times a day as I live in Northern California and we have the worst fires happening right now. And the air quality is dangerous/toxic. There are only windows of time in which it is safe to go out so I need this application to help me figure that out. Thank you.

Really accurate data

I’m so happy that I can see data from my personal sensor. It would be nice to have more graphics, like average in day, month, compare to other day etc

Must have app

Real-time air quality data just a click away. Easy to use. Great UI and UX.
