Time to think....

I adored this app when I first discovered it. I recommended it to so many people. I did actually have a subscription for a few months (which happened accidentally as another review mentioned....waking up and hitting the home button....) but I found that I didn’t really take advantage of it and was more comfortable “tipping” individual creators that I preferred. I understand that it costs money to supply the public with such a service so it’s hard to be completely perturbed by now basically being forced by the creators to subscribe to get anything good out of Tingles . Pretty much the only artists I listened to are now totally locked. So this is the decision I need to make: do I pay for the subscription to this app or just pay for a premium account on You Tube which I use more often for allll types of reasons? The reason I utilized this app was because there were no loud ads interrupting a video and I could shut my screen down and save my battery. But with a premium account on You Tube I can do those things as well. There are asmrtists on YT that I love that aren’t on the this app app so if I’m going to shell out $ to yet another app I may just stick with YT all together.
Sorry, this app, I knew this day would come because, frankly, anything great is rarely ever free.
With any service on this platform, the more users there finally are, they start charging.
(Also, the explanation post of the new changes read a bit sharp and insincere)

🥱😴🤤😪

As soon as I tried out Tingles I knew that it was going to work for me, I tried it out on the first day of the night and it obviously worked, I fell asleep right away and I am now trying out again during the day and I took a quick nap, Tingles is amazing and I encourage everybody to try it out one thing that I am a little upset about is that you have to be subscribed or pay to watch the videos so I can only watch the previews I would really love for this to be fixed please and thank you😊. So anyways this is a five star in my book and I did have a lot of trouble falling asleep at night because if I’m too tired and I will not be able to go to sleep if I’m not tired at all then I won’t be able to go to sleep either but if I’m just the right amount tired then I would be able to go to sleep if I wasn’t tired at all using Tingles I would still be able to go to sleep with that and if I was too tired then I would still be able to go to sleep at Tingles. So Tingles is an amazing app and if you have trouble sleeping at night as well as I do that I really encourage you to buy Tingles and two get it because it helps you a lot😊❤️🥱😴🤤😪

understandable, to a point

The this app app has been my go-to for a long time, but its developers are clearly never thinking of the long term. I downloaded Tingles in its early stages, when all ASMRtists were available whether they were partnered or not. This was great to use, but had some major flaws relating to revenue, and I was disappointed but understood and moved on when the change to only include partners was implemented. However, the recent update's roping off of nearly *all* videos behind a subscription is questionable. It's not this that pushed me to uninstall, however - it was the tone Tingles's team chose to use when addressing the issue. They come off as snarky and insincere, placing the blame on Tingles users instead of being understanding of their user base. The frustration is understandable, but there is one thing that the team needs to understand: when marketed as a free service, the mass majority of your users will use it as such. If you must place everything behind a paywall, market it as a subscription service, as other ASMR apps have done - the transparency will get you places.
The design changes as of late have also not been very good... C'mon, this app.

TL;DR: this app used to be a favorite app, but they've got a bad business model. Sorry, but YT Premium's probably the better choice for such a limited library.

What is going on?! You’ve ruined the app!!!

this app used to be incredible. I have been a paying user for a while now, and I have supported multiple creators in the past. I enjoyed the many features of Tingles including the repeat feature and audio-only feature, and I loved being able to interact with and message creators that I supported through Tingles as well as tip them on specific videos that I particularly liked. Now, it seems basically all of these features have been completely omitted since the most recent update; I can no longer access repeat and download/audio-only features, can no longer tip, interact with or support creators, and almost everyone I follow does not have their most recent videos uploaded to Tingles at all. To make matters worse, I can’t even see all of the artists I follow anymore, and instead I have to physically search their name each time I want to find them. The UI has become absolutely horrendous. I have no idea why these absolutely atrocious changes were made but you have taken a fantastic app and ruined the entire layout and features that made it my go-to place to enjoy ASMR. If this is an indication of what this app will be from now on then I really see no point to continue keeping it installed and paying for features I’m no longer able to access. What a shame.

Hate the newest update

I’ve been using this app for a long time, mostly because I hate YouTube’s loud ads and how I have to have Tingles open to listen. I was so excited when I found this app because the layout was excellent and easy to maneuver as well as the fact that it was free since do not have the resources to pay for subscriptions and such. But then the other night I go on to listen to some of my favorite videos to try to fall asleep, only to find that essentially every video is now locked and that the new platform is so hard to work with. I can’t figure out how to get to things anymore. There’s no easy way to find all the free videos available, and you can’t see past the first few recent videos on an artist’s page. Also, you used to be able to pick an artist based on if they were male and female or what language they spoke and such, but now it’s all just one large list. If it just was the fact that all the videos were locked, I would’ve still listened to the free ones, but with the new layout I don’t think I can use Tingles anymore. I understand the need to make the videos locked in order to make more money, but the new layout is just awful. Goodbye this app.

Buggy Lately

I use Tingles constantly to listen to videos with my screen locked, and for probably a year plus I’ve had a great experience with it, but lately I’ve had a big problem with starting a video and within seconds or minutes it will jump to the next video in the list, except that all of the title/artist/description info stays the same as the original video. It doesn’t happen with every video, and each video that has this problem will skip to the next video at a completely random time that is unique to that video (it always skips at the same spot), but each video will be different, so one skipped after only 2 seconds, another gets almost 4 minutes in, and so on.

After reading some of the other reviews about how they’ve scoped down free user privileges to only allow viewing of certain videos I wondered if I was just seeing symptoms of that, but the behavior is so erratic and never asks me to subscribe to anything that I assume it must be a bug. I tried deleting and reinstalling to no effect. I guess I’ll have to go back to watching in a browser and just keep my phone on the charger all afternoon.

With the Update

Tingles has no ads, but now you have to pay to listen to anything. I used Tingles to listen to a few different artists, and you used to be able to listen to all of their audios for free, but now you have to pay to listen to all but roughly 2 of them. Before the update, I could deal with not being able to skip forward 30 seconds and such, as I could listen to the audios without paying and that was a compromise that I was fine with. But now you have to pay to do pretty much anything on Tingles.

Tingles had allowed me to listen to the audios of some of my favorite artists without further burning out my screen on my old phone, but there’s not much use in turning off the screen to listen to audios when you have to pay to listen to basically all of them.

I don’t typically write bad reviews and I’m sorry for the one star, but Tingles went from allowing people to listen to audios for free with the option to support the artist or do the premium thing, to giving them no choice but to pay for premium if they want to listen to their audios on Tingles . This may sound whiny and I know I sound like a broken record by now, and I apologize for that, but this really irked me.

Bad app layout and terrible customer service

This morning i had just woken up when I pressed the home button to look at my phone. I did not have glasses on so I could not read a message that was asking me to press touch ID for an in-app purchase and was alarmed when I squinted to see that a PURCHASE had just been approved. I scrambled to find the this app app, which I had been using at night, so my phone had accidentally pressed subscribe and was waiting for me to approve the subscription with my fingerprint.
However, I was completely unaware of what I had just purchased. I looked through Tingles and could not find any tab called purchases, leaving me in the dark of how much I had just spent. Then, I saw that I was now a supporter of some channel. There was no button to cancel it or even a description to tell me how much that cost and I had to look at a channel I hadn't supported to find out how much I had spent.
I tried to write an email to them in the Feedback section of Tingles but even after composing a draft, the Send button was not working.
If you've read this far you should know it is a great app, this was my only problem, so if I ever get those 5 dollars back I will update my rating.

Lockout Time, Vato

I’ve always been fine with sectioning off content as a way to keep a service running, but the pendulum has been swung too far to one side as it stands now. 90% of the content that now sits on Tingles is locked unless some money is coughed up. Which is worse when 90% of this content isn’t even exclusive to Tingles and can be found for free on YT (with ads of course but free nonetheless). This new change to Tingles has largely hampered my experience now and from what I see in other reviews, it’s basically the Sam all around. I understand that it’s hard to keep an app and its services running, but if no one is supporting Tingles , maybe it’s time reevaluate your premium service rewards. Make them more enticing and to where it makes people really do be considering supporting Tingles or a specific creator. I’m not entirely sure this’ll work but it’s worth trying than keeping things the way they are now. This has been major bummer since I really did used enjoy Tingles and was basically the reason why I switched from YT. Now, I and most will probably switch back to YT since 90% of the content isn’t locked and can continue enjoying our favorite content for free.

Premium Pop-Ups Can Cause Trouble

Honestly, I love the this app app. It has great ASMR on it and for free. However, there is this one feature about it that I do not like: the constant premium pop-ups. These things are a nuisance, but I never really had a problem with it until today. Earlier today, I was taking a little nap and I was using this app to fall asleep. I didn’t turn my screen off so I could fall asleep to the visuals. I don’t know what happened, but when I woke up I put my finger on the home button, attempting to leave Tingles , and then a pop-up was displayed that said “Your purchase was successful.” Immediately, I begin to panic. I guess at some point in my sleep, I rolled around and hit the “premium offer pop-up” and all I needed left was to give my password/thumbprint. I was charged $6.99 for something that I didn’t even want to pay for (if I’m being completely honest). I already canceled the subscription but I was still charged and everything still happened. For me personally, this experience was so frustrating and shocking that I honestly do not think I will be using this app anymore in the future. Sad, but true.

GO BACK TO THE FISRT UPDATE

I highly recommend Tingles! It helps me for when I’m feeling either tired or in the mornings for some nice asmr. I have my perfected artists but this app does a really good job or recommending different types. I do wish they would go back to the old update but this one is still pretty okay! I would give it 5 stars but one of the very few reasons why not 1: not a lot for free members (no subscription) 2: the explore page has different types but only 1 artist and it’s the most popular... 3: i wish it was easier to favorite or subscribe to the artists so I can have more to watch 4: I don’t like the layout of the home page...

Aside from these negatives(which are really just annoyances) DO DOWNLOAD Tingles ITS WORTH IT. I have had this app for bout a year (I think) and I won’t be deleting it anytime soon!

EDIT:!!!!DONT DOWNLOAD Tingles IF YOU WANT A LOT!!!!!! I hate newer updates! I know you have to get money to keep it up and running but this is rediculous!

Bruh

If you’re seeing this in 2020 you’ll understand the title. If you’re seeing this years from now it basically means “the f$&@“. Which for Tingles is very apropos. I used to love Tingles, and I used to recommend it very frequently. Well, not no mo. I greatly enjoyed and benefited from the service provided by Tingles. Being that I felt like I was receiving something of value from Tingles and the creators I chose to say thank you with dollars. When you pay for Tingles and give money to creators there are certain benefits conveyed. Or, there used to be. Now, not only are those paid for benefits lost somewhere out in the ether but a lot of the basic functions are as well. There used to be a feature where Tingles would list the creators you followed and or donated to. That feature is gone. The ability to see, access, and make changes to your account is also gone. That’s right, you. cannot. access. your. account. That means if you chose to give money on a repeat basis you can’t stop it. I don’t say this lightly, what Tingles and its developers are doing is tantamount to thievery. You would be wise to flee Tingles before it catches you in its web of lies.

Great app

I started using this app about a couple of months ago and I love it. Tingles has changed since I first downloaded it because the developers need to make their money so they are putting more restrictions on videos-which I get. With premium you get to download as many videos as you want and have them saved so that you can watch them offline. You can also play the videos while doing others things on your phone and when the screen is locked. The only thing I don’t like about this app, is that the videos aren’t in order from so you have to search to find the most recent videos from a creator. Other than that, I think this app is a great app and I will subscribe to premium once I get the money to do it yearly.

New update is horrible.

I have had this app for over a year and I’ve absolutely loved it and appreciated it because it was free with no ads and I can lock my phone and do anything while I’m listening and relaxing to ASMR at first I didn’t understand the update because I couldn’t find my normal artists the entire set up of the homepage was completely different and I really didn’t like that at all it’s harder to find the updates by the artists that I enjoy and then once I looked more into it I realized that you have to actually pay to keep up with the updates from your artists now and I honestly think that that’s crappy I understand that not everything great is freeBut I had really high hopes for this app and now I’m honestly unable to use it because even though it’s cheap I don’t have spare money for things like that right now and on top of that I don’t remember ever having any type of warning that I was going to get my favorite app taken away for me. I’m really praying and hoping to consider that there’s someway we can undo this update I honestly think this app is going to lose a lot of supporters because of this and it makes me really sad😔

Meh

I had this app when it first started and they were streaming asmr from yt without consent. So it was understandable when a whole bunch of content was deleted and they brought on subscription options. And that was fine, because you didn’t have to opt in. The only reason I kept Tingles is because I could power down my phone. Because let’s face it, the best asmr is on yt, hands down. And then they implemented subscription only... when you can still see the majority of the artists on yt for free. And they MADE SURE to make Tingles as unfriendly as possible for the free accounts and basically deleted your profile and your personalized settings if you weren’t paying. Normally apps want to keep they’re users, this is the first time I’ve seen an app try very hard to get rid of them. Normally I don’t write reviews, BUT THEN this app had the audacity to ask people to post good reviews because they’ve been receiving so many bad ones. You’re getting bad reviews for a reason. Instead of trying to circumvent them, why don’t you use them to made your app better.

Smh its ruined now dont download

I’ve never written a review on any app ever, but this was just too egregious of a mistake to make. Tingles caters too a specific demographic, that’s fine. What they’ve now done with the update is a slap in the face to those same people, myself included. Locking free YT videos behind a paywall??? Scum. And now, the premium videos that I paid for are gone forever w the new update as well. In my case, I was subscribed on this app to an ASMRtist I adore. She isn’t posting rn (may be done for good 😞), and before this newest update, I could only find more of her content thru premium this app. Now all premium videos are gone (especially hurt about hers since I paid for them faithfully), and you're telling me I now pay for free YT videos????? What for? Uninstalled, never downloading again. The potential for Tingles wasn’t that high to begin with, and I somehow still came away extremely disappointed. This is personal. The ASMRtist may be dead and/gone and now there isn’t more content of her anywhere. God awful move, this app. Nobody download, send a message.

I love it!!

It’s one of the best sleep apps I have seen so far. I have tried a countless number of sleep apps, sleep hacks, and even sleep pills, but nothing has worked like this. The artists are clearly great at what they do. Almost professionals perhaps. Each artist has a delicate voice, that drifts me off to sleep in less that two minutes. It helps to keep my mind off things, and it really makes me relax. If you don’t already have Tingles, I highly recommend. It doesn’t matter what the issue is with falling asleep for you. It can help decrease stress, anxiety, and it has multiple videos to choose from, each with a different theme. And the best part? It is almost completely free! Can you imagine a good night rest, for free!! There is nothing I dislike about Tingles. I highly, highly recommend.

Asking for Positive Reviews

Before delving into my review of Tingles , I opened Tingles yesterday and they are specifically asking for good reviews. Bad move. The optics for that are soo bad. That is why I’m giving one star. You’re asking for unfair and untrue reviews because you don’t like the good things perplexing are pointing out about your app and new changes.

So of course like everyone else here, I am frustrated that ALMOST EVERY video is locked. There is a middle ground between providing and promoting a FREE service and acting like a brat and saying “fine then. You can’t watch my videos unless you pay me”.
First, why make an app that’s not sustainable?
You could use silent ads, or an option to watch an ad before a “locked” video. So anyone can watch any video, but we choose to watch an ad before a locked one.
Second, it is not our fault that no ads are not sustainable. A subscription is not what it was marketed as, which is why people are upset.
Third, instead of begging for good reviews, why don’t you focus your energy on making a dashboard for people to save videos, save favorite artists and search for free videos?
It would be a lot more enticing to pay for a subscription if there were actual perks, (like those mentioned above) instead of just unlocked videos we can watch for free on YT anyway, which HAS the options above.
I’m not paying $10 a month just so I can listen to ASMR while I’m on other apps.

So far...

I found everything to be very reasonable about Tingles. It’s almost like Twitch: a simple way to get content from your favorite artists, free or paid. I think the free to use section is reasonable if you’re not paying for a subscription. The only thing that I would change about this, would be a portrait orientation switch on the video itself. However, that’s just me being lazy lol XD
Regardless, I enjoy being able to listen to my ASMR without having ads screeching at me while I’m trying to fall asleep. I love that it can play in the background while I can check other apps or messages. It’s very easy to use, the dark setting is nice because who wants to stare at a white screen. 10/10!!!
I don’t typically post reviews, but I think it was worth the time.

Stupid new update.

I use to LOVE Tingles. But now you’ve centered everything on money. When I first started using Tingles a little more than a year ago, you didn’t have to pay for much other than to support a creator. Then you made a huge update that let you download videos, skip 60 seconds of the video, create playlists, and much more for a price. This i found somewhat annoying, but i lived with it because I still had the timer and access to all the video I wanted and needed. Then I come back on Tingles today and there is a huge change. YOU CAN ONLY WATCH THE FIRST 3 VIDEOS OF A CREATOR. That’s bs and you know it. My fav content creator , FrivolousFox ASMR, had certain videos that I would watch every night. But now I’m not allowed to because there’s a lock. And you expect me to pay 10 dollars a month for that?! Are you joking? I’m deleting Tingles now. You’ve centered it too much on money and its not cool or fun to use anymore. Have fun with your stupid business, you just lost a customer.

Price gouging money hungry owners

Loved Tingles until just now. Tell me how “80% off” of a lifetime subscription, is $10 off of a $60 purchase? Had a paid subscription but cut it off because I’m not making money right now due to the GLOBAL PANDEMIC CAUSING SHUTDOWNS, and the creators have the audacity to ridiculously limit everything on a free account when people are literally having to get checks directly from the government to pay for rent and necessities. Home screen only shows try again no matter how many times and ways I try to get it to show anything so I can only assume they’ve blocked the home screen. Can only access the three most recent saved videos and go nowhere else in Tingles . I understand more people need to support creators, but guys seriously how can you think this would be a good time to launch this decision. Had planned on renewing my subscription when things got back to normal but I’m definitely not doing it now after this bs.

New Update

I’ve loved Tingles for years because I didn’t get loud ads and I could turn off my screen. I chose very few people to listen to and usually had my go-to artist. However, as of recently everything is locked unless you pay for a subscription. This gets rid of Tingles ’s advantage against YT all together! Reason being, if I can pay just as much on YT as I would have to on this app and still get more than I would on this app, why wouldn’t I choose YT? I would get to listen to so many more Artist and even listen to music. My favorite artist have been completely locked on this app and I can’t watch some of my go-to videos or creators. Not to mention, this app did not have a very sincere outlook or response on this. Therefore, if I’m going to spend money to listen to something, it will not be on Tingles. I’m uninstalling it altogether and I’m quite disappointed in the way Tingles turned out because I used to use it all the time. On that note, I do not suggest Tingles.

By

ARE YOU SERIOUS???

Listen. I used to adore Tingles. I mean, a free app with all kinds of ASMRs and no adds in the videos to jumpscare you? Plus you can make a playlist and listen to it even when your device is off? PLUS there’s only very very few videos you have to pay to access? To good to be true, right? Well, yes. I’m astounded that you would make just about everything free and accessible and once Tingles blows up, YOU MAKE OVER HALF OF THE VIDEOS COST MONEY TO ACCESS. I’m really disappointed in you, because I (and many many others) have a lot of trouble falling asleep, and I listen to Tingles every single night to fall asleep, and it helps A LOT. But now all except maybe one or two of the videos I listened to to fall asleep I have to pay money to access! Are you kidding me? I can’t believe this, honestly. I would love and really really appreciate it if you fixed this crap and made all the videos accessible again. Guess I won’t be sleeping as well anymore.
