Seriously, I’m sure there are people out there who mindlessly hit the “buy more coins” button, and don’t mind sitting through annoying and endless commercials for this game, but it really ruins the game.
Game play is fun, but not like Alto’s Odyssey fun. It’s an old school pole-position mixed with excite bike type arcade game. Fun to play, but far too many interruptions.
I would be happy to pay $5 for the game without all the extra junk. However, they seem to have forgotten that option. As it is, it’s a 2.5 to 3 Star game with all the included garbage. Too bad, as it has potential.

This is a great, addictive and fun game. The only problem is that in order to upgrade your bike you have to pay a huge amount of coins. Earning coins in game is not enough. You have to watch ads to earn coins. This is fine and dandy but for some reason my app started freezing when I click on the ads. Paying to remove ads is a bad deal because the ads are the only real way to get coins. The most expensive bike is $80,000. You can either watch 80 ads or pay $1.99 and play 1000 runs assuming you will make at least 80 coins a run...which you won’t. Realistically you’re gonna earn 30-65.

So I downloaded this and I’ve had it now quite a few months. Love playing it, the design, layout, graphics all good. What’s really annoying is how the ads behave at the end of a game. They don’t give you an option to close it and you have to wait a certain amount of time and then it goes away. 99% of the ads I get are for Facebook communities. Again just a stupid way to for all intensive purposes hijack you.
Other than that I had loved it.

I had a lot of fun with this game. I probably put in around 10-20 hours. I love the retro graphics combined with fluid gameplay. When you get the bikes that handle well, you truly get immersed into the game. Weaving in and out while avoiding deadly obstacles.
That being said, getting to the higher bikes is an absolute chore (without $$$). The tasks to earn in game coins are free, however there’s only 10-15 tasks. This may seem like a lot, but you’ll get through them very quickly. Once complete, they recycle the same tasks with higher numbers. So now I have to fly off 40 ramps. But it takes 5 minutes for 40 Ramos to even appear.
All in all, I enjoyed the game and would highly recommend.

I love this retro racing app! It isn’t too hard and it’s easy to control. I love all the characters and places you can get by getting coins and doing tasks, though I wish there would be more characters. Because I have all the places and characters you can get, and it’s getting a little boring. Also, I wish there were “power ups” instead of just the fuel thing. And just WHY are the characters so expensive? I know I said I already have all the characters but before that, I hated how many coins the characters costed. Other than all that, I think this is a wonderful game.

This game is very good overall, and has a great concept. While playing this game for almost a week now I’ve noticed how long it takes to earn coins and get bikes. From the start I decided I would buy the amateur bike and grind out the money to get the bosozoku early. With my total of 35,261 coins and the price of the bosozoku bike being 80,000 I’ve done the math and with my average of 80 coins per game it will take a ridiculous 559 games to get the bike. I am NOT going to play 559 games for a bike.

This game is a lot of fun and the ads don’t ruin it. One issue is the level design. The increase in difficulty is really drastic after the first map. I ended up playing the first map almost exclusively cause I’d crash too early on the others. Also, the last map is way too hard. It’s the last unlock of the game, it should be a little easier and more for fun.

To start with, the gameplay is amazing. I really enjoy the way the game feels and the stunt system is intuitive. A couple things that I believe could be improved: firstly, the scenery and level design feels a little same-y after a while, and quite flat. New objects could help with this like a bridge or a fork in the road. I also believe the game could benefit from different things to replace nitro with (jump boost, as an example) and benefit from more power ups rather than just 3. The bike system is good but I wish there was a stronger difference between bikes, rather than just a small increase in speed and manueverability (maybe a special ability or something for a bike, or just making the higher end bikes a little bit faster) overall though a phenomenal game that feels great to play

The gameplay is fantastic. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is only 1 fun level: the original. The only reason to switch to the others is when a mission calls for it. Otherwise there’s too many hazards or turns to have any fun. Candy land is a motion sickness-prone nightmare. There’s a pickup that makes the screen blurry that’s as no fun as a level that mostly consists of two lanes and one way traffic, during a steep turn. All inconsistent with the game’s best ideas: going way too fast while burning nitro and weaving between both lanes of traffic, catching all the jumps and boosts you can.
I was excited to unlock the moon, but there’s too many tunnels and overhead hazards to risk a jump, which defeats the point of a low gravity level. Why not double down on the idea and have nothing to wreck you on a jump and make them even higher?
I like difficulty, but not at the cost of fun. They don’t give nearly enough coins for how short the runs usually are.

Brilliant.
One request: allow for sound effects when playing your own music in the background. Would very much enjoy to hear the rumble of the engine and passing cars.
Edit: of course, I know that, but even when I do so I can’t hear what the engine sounds like or the cars passing by with my music playing in the background. There’s no option to increase sound effect volume or it’s entirely absent. ;)

So great great game, but a couple things, maybe add some seasons or somthin’ to spice it up a bit, next, maybe make the levels a little less hard to get, and third, the mysterious achievements, like Improvised Ramp. Like I know there is a achievement to run over your record but it would be nice if you could not have to wait to get an achievement that you have no idea how to get. Anyway, great game, and maybe think about those requests(: Sincerely—LongShotHawk

One of the few action games I regularly play.
Pros:
-Fun, easy to start playing.
-Great intro level.
-Retro style graphics.
-Ramp jumping.
-Price is right
Cons:
-Other levels beyond the first are a little too difficult. If they would tweak the rebound off of barriers to not be so intense, slightly wider lanes/narrower cars or not pack so many obstacles or traffic I think this could be easily fixed.
-Their scuzzy ad provider. Invisible close boxes that force unwanted clicks, very violent and inappropriate ads. I have the choice not to see them now by purchasing but I would hesitate to let my kids play this otherwise appropriate game for that reason.

Let’s just start off by saying this... I love this game but I have a few ideas that will make it better.
1) When you jump right before you head into the tunnel instead of dying you should be able to drive on top of them for a short while.
2) There should be trailers on the semi trucks that have some reward on it, such a extra coins.

I have been playing it a lot for the past days and all I can say is that it is simple, you can go on for a lot. It can get challenging if you wish to do so. The motorcycles are not hard to obtain. It is not pay to win. It’s like an arcade game where you have fun but the difference is that you don’t have to pay money every time. The ads are not annoying, and not very long and often. You can even get a revive from an ad of a lot of coins for free. I love it. Thank you!

I know I’m super late to the train on this one, but I really like this game. It’s the perfect amount of game for quick sessions. I see a lot of reviews asking for more bikes or more interesting levels. While I wouldn’t say no to that, I think this game is exactly what it needs to be. I would love to see controller support. I love throwing my games up on the tv through screen mirroring, and this way is best enjoyed with a controller. Regardless, great game!

i’ve had this for a few years and i like it. it’s a really good game just to pass time, waiting for a flight, bored in class, long car ride, etc. it also has good variety and decently satisfying progression.
one thing i would very much like that would fit perfectly into the game would be synth wave/vaporwave maps, they would be super easy to make and would go incredibly well into the game. it would also bring a new audience in and probably make the game a lot more popular
to the devs: idk if you all read these but if you do, please consider making a vaporwave and/or a synthwave map. if you are unfamiliar with these, look it up and you’ll probably recognize the style.

The buttons for free coins, etc don’t always work. And after one run, when I hit the “free” button, the game completely froze. Had to turn off my pad and start over. You’re gonna have to do better than that. Otherwise, a fun game, more fun than others of this type. The change to different environments (like the desert, where it narrows to two lanes at times and has cross traffic) is a neat innovation and adds to the challenge. Clean it up and I’ll give you a 5.
EDIT: in my latest round of playing, not seeing the bugs. So I give you your 5 (was 4), because I really like this game - I’d say it’s one of the best I have, and I have a bunch.

The purchases are nice, a little bit of cash goes a long way. Wish they would offer a motorcycle that is slower... why pay more for a motorcycle that is going too darn fast.
Another note for developers: the menu UI is counterintuitive. Might watch some new players try out the game for thirty minutes to see what I mean. When you’ve paused the game, it’s too easy to accidentally end it and go back to menu. Also when your selecting a stage, once it’s selected it should go back to the menu, so you can play immediately.

I love this game and I have so much fun with it! I love how fun it is to play over and over again and I love how paying to get rid of ads is 100% worth it! There is just one thing. It’s been 2 years and there has not been any content updates. The online and in-game leaderboards are great and keep me playing but the game needs something new. I love how you still fix bugs and other things and I think it’s great but with 2 years of no content, I can only hope more will be added some day in the future. Even if it’s only a few small things, the game needs it. Besides that, I love this game and I hope you keep supporting it!

This game is a salute to some of the great arcade racing games. Games like Super Hang-on, Outrun, and Pole Position. If you have ever played any of these games, then give this a try. Big tip: to get that full arcade feel, hold your tablet close to your face, just inches away.
Your on a bike, collecting coins, dodging traffic. You got your turbo boost, and can do some crazy crashes. Think of Retro Highway as one as the home console version of today. You can get the Crazy Taxi arcade version in RetroHighway Store, but you get the Crazy Taxi version on your Dreamcast or Steam you get the base game, plus extras.
That is what you get here. You can unlock upgrades, new locations, and new bikes which help you progress. Instead of paying a quarter for five minutes of gameplay or one round, this game costs a download, a tap to start, and an ad or two.

This game is great! It’s high octane arcade fun, and totally worth the $2 to get rid of ads.
However, I do agree with “Hop on Pop Jr” review. There is a lot of opportunity to improve on maps. Being able to drive off road, even if it’s only a small amount but follows the road. Also having forks in the road is a great suggestion.
I’d also like to add popping wheelies as a stunt suggestion. By popping a wheelie, it would add more nitro into the tank, but have limited steering.
I’d love to have a race gameplay. Race with bots or online multiplayer over a fixed distance. If you crash, you re-spawn like Mario cart.
I think with a few simple gameplay features (maybe more maps) and good marketing, this game could be huge.

This game is a fantastic tribute to old arcade racing games, an exact copy almost. I am surprised this game is not 5 stars. People complain about ads, (I had no problems) but on the side they still say “great game” and if you are going on RetroHighway Store and nitpicking about ads, the just download any free games! They need ads, that’s why there free! And people are giving one star reviews to a game this great! Anyway, just needed to get that off my chest, and this is a must-download

I love this game! It perfectly captured the retro style so that I love to look at it. Gameplay is very fast paced and challenging, along with the objectives that are hard enough to really be rewarding once you get them. I’ve played this a ton since I got it and it still continues to be fun and interesting with all places and characters that are so hard to unlock. I wish I could find more games like this. It’s definitely straight up the alley of devolver digital. 🏍🤙

That being said, the billboards are also brilliantly engineered with plenty of adverts both for real things and joke ones that I can’t get enough of, and you can crash into them? The music is also straight out of an early 90s arcade racer but with a really beefy bass that will destroy your cans. I also love the bike names. Every element of this game complements the other.

This game is great. So addictive and fun. Graphics actually look clean and amazing. You probably see a lot of and reviews about the game crashing or running slow but it really doesn't. I have an IPhone 5c and this haven't lagged once. It's also very generous with that ads. There is only about 1 ad every 7 try's and every time the ad can be closed in 5 seconds. Overall great game.
