Are you serious? I spent quite a bit of time explaining it in an email and it’s been MONTHS waiting for this feature. It’s SUPER frustrating when a developer is purposefully ignoring a feature request that would appease thousands of their users. STOP focusing on what does NOT matter to your users. NO MORE cloud, no more text, no more anything but DOUBLE TAP CAMERA SWITCH! Just like snapchat. C’mon already! I followed through just as I said I would in my last review. I was purposely paying the month to month to SUPPORT the development of SparkCameraVideoEditor but since you guys aren’t putting any effort into fulfilling completely reasonable requests, I canceled. I’ll renew when the update release notes clearly state that you’ve added the double tap camera switch. 😤 This is ridiculous! LISTEN!

It used to be my favorite app to edit videos...Well, not anymore!
SparkCameraVideoEditor was already paid for, but with the new update I have to pay (subscribe for a membership) just to download my OLD EDITED videos, or just to apply old filters to my new videos? This is a little heartbreaking.
Also, if you wish to restore your subscription or read a little bit about its terms you won't have luck--the text is very small and located so that you can't press it on iPhone X.
Despite that I used SparkCameraVideoEditor for years and recommended to all of my friends, I am deleting it right now. If the only thing that motivates updates in SparkCameraVideoEditor is profit...well, you guys are going to lose all of the devoted customers.

It said I got a free 3 day trial. So I thought ok why not. Then my bank was charged for the year and now I can cancel but I’m still out the money and have this for a year. Do not waste time and cash. If your seriously working your business on insta or wherever. Try a different company. If they would do this then the software can’t be trusted. Bad business practice ***update** in response to the developer. I know you need paid if someone uses your product. I run a business myself and understand completely but I noticed the charge minutes after clicking try for free. I canceled it immediately. Doesn’t get me my money back and it wasn’t 3 hours I had it let alone 3 days. I’m not a moron and I’m also not trying to take advantage of the situation in anyway. I stand by my review. Thanks for the condescending 3 days comment though. It does show your capacity for customer care and what you must think of our intelligence level.

These apps keep coming up in my instagram feed (not cool btw) with these eye catching videos, so you want to get it! So I say download app and I download it. I go in and it’s like “hey here you go, SparkCameraVideoEditor is free but you have to pay for everything else except the taking video part. Have fun doing nothing!” Like if you are going to charge people for your app, MAKE IT A FREAKING PAID APP!!! Maybe the stuff is good once you pay for it but if you are looking for a good video editing software that is free AND HONEST, get a different app! I’m not going to add more money onto my other monthly payments for something that can obviously be replaced. Just make the right choice people, if your willing to pay for some video thing that is charging you by the month for some filters and video cutting, go right ahead! I’ll sit back with a phone camera and apple filters and be just fine. Conclusion: Get a different app (ITS A FREAKING TRICK).

SparkCameraVideoEditor itself is easy to use and serves the purpose of no fuss video editing that can be quite time consuming. Lately I have noticed that adding music to the video and managing each clip volume has become a pain, not because of the difficulty but because it does not save properly or just starts the music whenever regardless of the adjustment. Also, many times it does not save where I cut the video so I have to. Do it several times. At the end I’m spending as much time trying to figure out the bugs and issues of SparkCameraVideoEditor that editing. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it unless they fix those issues. I ’m cancelling the subscription soon.

Everything is great BUUUUUTT. THE issue I found is when it comes to adding music to your video even if your purchased the song on your iTunes they only allow certain songs in your videos. I can’t understand what ones are allowed and not allowed. It’s a random guess. You will get denied and sent to iTunes that gives you no help or resources on how to fix it or why you were denied. Then! If you are allowed to have a song instead of listing to it first with a short clip. They just add it to the video. Then you have to delete it and start all over again.

Next Is text. If you just want a quick text to pop up and show the name of a person in the video. You can shorten it to seconds. It will only do the whole clip or at least the clip that is short or your video.

I don’t even know who to contact to ask about the music part. There is no guidance. I hope somebody reaches out to me for help

I tried out SparkCameraVideoEditor for a couple months and it definitely has a few positives. I love the one-touch video recording and how easy it is to trim and reorder your clips, as well as the filters. This would be a great $5 app just for those reasons alone. On the downside, I would definitely like to see a lot more options such as adding text, stickers, better transitions, and more variety of music. However, the biggest issue is PRICE!! $99 US DOLLARS (or $3 a month). That is a mind blowing number for the limitations SparkCameraVideoEditor has. A monthly subscription for a video recording app is just weird to me. There are a lot better, maybe not easier, options out there. I have since purchased and learned the 2 pro IOS apps, Filmic Pro and LumaFusion. Paid $35 for both and they are literally light years ahead (but definitely a much bigger learning curve).

Update:
Only issue now is audio interference between clips. I muted the videos and still here noise where clips are joined. After adding music it gets quieter also in between clips.

It turns out that my new iPhone has issues with playing videos across various apps, not just SparkCameraVideoEditor, so restarting my phone after turning the “auto play videos” back to ON in settings, and SparkCameraVideoEditor no longer blacks out clips and my photo roll no longer gets errors on videos. Weird that it worked. Thought my phone was going nuts, seems to be an iOS issue.

Recently, SparkCameraVideoEditor started blacking out clips, every other one while still retaining audio. Could be because I offloaded SparkCameraVideoEditor and then reloaded? Either way I am done with it, deleting today for good. It was fun for a while to do quick edits, but it seems pricey to upgrade and has issues. Couldn’t export videos today, I thought to see if it will export with the blackout parts, but now I am so annoyed I won’t even bother saving my videos and just will delete it all. I use FinalCutpro for more demanding work but at times need quick on the go edits/tests. Still looking for “the one”. No 4K with the free version anymore, which is understandable, but there are other annoyances that keep pushing me away. I was fascinated with SparkCameraVideoEditor some years back, but now it feels like maybe it needs a redesign, a lower price tag or maybe I’ve just outgrown it.

Updated Review: After reaching out to support, they took care of making sure my lifetime support of SparkCameraVideoEditor was taken care of. Although, I still feel like the fact the link is inactive for members to click, I thank the team for fixing the situation for me.

Previous Review: I purchased SparkCameraVideoEditor long before they went to a subscription model and was told I would have most of the features being an early adopter. I hadn’t used SparkCameraVideoEditor in a while due to busy life at home during quarantine, but opened SparkCameraVideoEditor today to create something. I was prompted to upgrade to pro. Then when try and click the ‘Already a Member?’ link, it’s not clickable. It’s right where you swipe with your thumb so it’s impossible. I can't back a company that does this. I definitely won’t be upgrading to the subscription. Deleting.

I used to LOVE SparkCameraVideoEditor! Made everything super easy to edit in a minute, all features were easy to use, and I had my videos ready in half the time of other apps. BUT whatever they changed in the last update has ruined SparkCameraVideoEditor for me. Videos that used to take seconds to upload into a project now take up to 2 mins each (and when you’re uploading 10 clips at a time that’s a long time to wait before you can even begin editing). The start and end markers for each video clip are now impossible to grab with your finger resulting in an infuriating battle of closing the clip, reopening it, trying to move the end marker and closing the clip by accident again because it misreads what my finger is trying to do. I used to LOVE SparkCameraVideoEditor! Please revert back to the way you had it working BEFORE the most recent update!

SparkCameraVideoEditor is useful. I like being able to record and then delete it without it being stored in my phone and having to go back and delete a bunch of videos where I’ve messed up a word.
So I find it very useful in that sense compared to using the built in video app on my phone.

although you can record past 60 seconds it will not allow you to download past 60 seconds so it’s a complete waste of your time and honestly SparkCameraVideoEditor just stop you at 60 seconds but instead it allows you to record so that way they can give you a pop-up when you try and download it to get you to purchase.
I don’t love it but I get it.

The reason why I give it three stars though is that no matter what every single time when I open SparkCameraVideoEditor in order to record I am first given a pop-up about paying for the pro subscription fees.

It’s completely obnoxious.
Once in a while I get it but every single time I open SparkCameraVideoEditor it makes me wanna delete SparkCameraVideoEditor .

Really love SparkCameraVideoEditor . I use it every day as a way to record my own personal daily vlogs. But there are times when I’m exporting that when it completes the ring it doesn’t do anything. It just waits. So I usually have to force close reopen then try again. Usually it’ll work again but gets frustrating waiting twice. The other thing is after recording a fairly long single clip (> 50 sec) there’s a bit of a delay before I can start recording again. Sometimes I immediately press to record but if it’s in the middle of that delay it doesn’t capture anything. So I end up wasting a shot. And the last issue I’d really love to have and been asking for a few years now is to have orientation lock. I shoot in landscape and because you don’t have a lock I need to keep my phone “orientation free” to accommodate Spark. It’s not a big deal most of the time except when I’m lying down on my side and everything rotates. So having a lock on the video orientation would be great.

Otherwise great app!

I am probably a greenhorn when it comes to the video editors. This review is focused on that fact. If you are experienced with two or more other production apps for posting short video content on social media, SparkCameraVideoEditor may not have features that suit you. These might be overlays, masking, higher level of title and text controls, such as animated or active morphing, or photo and video manipulation, such as exposure and integrated color retouching. To be clear, the preset color filters are many and super easy to view by swiping the screen to pan thru the entire set while not changing your window. The text, duration, recorder and added sound controls, and clip features are fabulous for their easy access and control. No pull downs, no hidden features and SparkCameraVideoEditor has a unassuming help feature that does its job. If you are looking for a fast editor that doesn't tie you up with tons of toggles and selections, SparkCameraVideoEditor is great. Movie clips around within the movie stream: easy and fast! You don't any mysteries about the flow. I can see this getting better because these people were thinking "user-friendly" more than complex. It does what's it is supposed to do; produce good movies short and sweet.

A note to the Developers. You’ve got to come up with a better way to add text. You can’t control how long the text stays up very well. If you want text for 5 seconds of a 30 minute long scene. Good luck pinching your fingers down small enough to set that duration. The text also seems to NOT stay in the time frame you set it. Watching my entire “movie” back, the text has moved to a spot earlier than where I placed it and it makes no sense there. Then it changes again next time, and I did not trim any sceneS. Should allow us to add text for any duration we want within each individual scene.

Spark continues to get better and better with each update. The devs really have pushed SparkCameraVideoEditor in the right direction. I absolutely love the new ability to simultaneously record the front face camera and the back camera now, it’s a great feature.

A couple requests:
1. Please offer an option to choose orientation or location of front face camera bubble
2. Please allow the choice to choose to use separate filter options for front face camera bubble or to use the same filter for “all”.
3. Please offer a way to “latch” recording for videos where it’s less applicable to hold the screen to shoot clips.

BONUS:

4. Please add an option for “live steaming” with the front face bubble feature active. — that would be amazing!

I have used SparkCameraVideoEditor for 5 years now, trying others as they came along. The rest got deleted, even the paid ones, but this one remains. It was not right away that I became comfortable with its minimalistic interface, but when I got used to it, it made sense and I actually like it now, because it is not loaded with options I never use.
The concept is this: you create a “spark”, which is just a smart way of grouping related video clips together and working with them, editing, rearranging, adding transitions, music, etc, until you are ready to produce a video with merged clips. You can have as many “sparks” as you want, and go between them any time you want.
A pretty looking app and a smart way of keeping all of your themed clips in one place.
The customer service is superb too, responsive and polite. Dominique rules!

I downloaded SparkCameraVideoEditor when it was featured as SparkCameraVideoEditor of the week I believe a good while ago and fell in love. I removed it only because I had such little storage and it wasn't something I used often. It's such an amazing tool I couldn't help but buy it this time. Worth the .99 cents and additional filters within SparkCameraVideoEditor are also .99 cents. Totally worth every penny. You can add your own songs on iTunes, editing is super easy and I love the filters (kinda like the instagram pre-set ones).

I did experience some problems with the volume control yesterday where the background music was drowning out my voiceover recording. But it seems that it’s been FIXED TODAY, and all is working smoothly with the new update.

I lost my UNLIMITED subscription for a few hours, but customer service was quick and thorough to make sure it was RESTORED. Hands down THE BEST and FASTEST and MOST EFFICIENT customer service I’ve ever experienced from an app developer!

I look forward to the Spark team in adding more features to this amazing app that I shall continue to use as a loyal content creator.

SparkCameraVideoEditor is so easy to use and the monthly cost is very low for how useful it is. There’s a lot of filters to choose from and a lot ways to customize videos to make them exactly the way you want. I use SparkCameraVideoEditor for almost everything; from cooking videos, travel videos, etc. Being able to import videos from your camera roll also allows you to insert things you forgot to record through SparkCameraVideoEditor . Another nice touch is being able to post straight to Instagram or IGTV after creating your video.
A lot of people ask me how I make my videos and I recommend Spark to every one of them. 10/10 recommend purchasing SparkCameraVideoEditor!

I have been a Spark user from around 2-3 years, it was too basic then but I picked it up. Now, I have upgraded from iPhone 6s Plus that I was using and I see that our early user purchases can’t be restored by clicking on “restore”.

Is it not possible to link our OLD app purchase to our apple account so we can directly restore previous purchases without requiring us to reach out to support even when we change our devices? This would make it so easy for your users who invested in your app many years ago.

You can follow the path of Bazaart, as early users we can restore our purchases even if change devices and we aren’t required to contact them

I am only giving SparkCameraVideoEditor a one star because of their lack of support. I loved SparkCameraVideoEditor easy to use as I use it for vlogging. I just got back from a trip and had a 12 min video with clips saved on SparkCameraVideoEditor . When editing the videos it suddenly crashed and now every time I try to access the clips to edit of view I am unable to. I’m furious because I am unable to recover those clips as it is not saved on my phone. I have contacted support team twice via e-mail and it’s been 2 days no response whatsoever or even a confirmation that my message received. Disappointed and sad my clips are not able to be viewed or save!!!

I saw SparkCameraVideoEditor the day it came out and thought it was going to be amazing. Great marketing. Once you download SparkCameraVideoEditor you immediately are asked if you want to subscribe to use SparkCameraVideoEditor . You can record in regular 1080hd non stabilized footage for free for a few seconds. After that you need to upgrade to use SparkCameraVideoEditor and upgrade is not worth it. Use FiLMiC Pro...BEST $14 ever spent on a camera recorder that shoots 4K amazingly with no subscriptions. Or use pro movie recorder. Ultra jam and even Vizzywig is better than SparkCameraVideoEditor.

Terrible!

The only way i would use SparkCameraVideoEditor again if there was a one time pay for everything that’s cheaper than $60 for an app.

Love it! Only thing I would really appreciate being added as a feature is being able to import videos from camera roll into sequences recorded from SparkCameraVideoEditor . So like we could have combinations of shots recorded in SparkCameraVideoEditor and from the camera roll. It’s helpful if we forget something and want to include it later or to get different angles.
