Lots of bugs on iOS

I love that I am able to listen to many of my textbooks on LearningAllyAudiobooks. However, lately there have been so many bugs as to make LearningAllyAudiobooks functionally useless for me. LearningAllyAudiobooks stops playing as soon as the screen goes black when not in use. So, I need to constantly tap the screen so as to keep it from stopping playing, which is not always possible if I’m trying to listen while doing anything other than staring at my phone. Also, every time my phone tilts sideways it restarts the audiobook from
The very beginning and I have to go back through to select the page I was on, and restart from the beginning of that page. Sometimes it also takes several times of alternating play/pause before the audiobook starts. I want to love LearningAllyAudiobooks, and I appreciate the thought behind it, but it has been more frustration lately than it is helpful.

Can’t login to the app

I never left a comment to anything but LearningAllyAudiobooks is suppose to help people with any reading disabilities, I have dyslexia and this is has been giving me a hard time to try and login to LearningAllyAudiobooks . I can easily login to the website but not LearningAllyAudiobooks . I have downloaded LearningAllyAudiobooks on both my laptop and my phone but nether one works. My main point to create an account and being able to listen to text books would be really beneficial for me with the college text books being too difficult to read on my own and to keep up with the class. But at this point I feel like I wasted a hole bunch of time trying to figure out where the login went wrong.
I hope that no else is dealing with this.

Issue with recent update

I’ve been using LearningAllyAudiobooks for about 7 years now. As pointed out by /many/ people, LearningAllyAudiobooks has never been extremely polished, but it has been so useful to me over the years that I’ve been more then willing to work around it. However, I recently noticed that, presumably because of some change in the last few months, the audio almost instantly pauses the moment you leave LearningAllyAudiobooks or when your phone turns off. While I’ve had issues in the past similar to this (I remember when I started using LearningAllyAudiobooks all of those years ago that there was a significant chance you would be moved to a different spot if you listened with your device off for more then a few minutes), but I honestly don’t think I’ve seen any as frustrating as this in a few years, which is sad, since I do feel like LearningAllyAudiobooks has improved for the most part over the past few years. I just hope that this is a temporary issue that will soon be solved and I will be able to listen to books while checking a text real quick and without having to tap my phone screen every 30 seconds again soon.

One of my the buggiest apps ever

This service is great, it’s gotten me through college, but the software layer over the service is one of the worst apps I’ve ever used. LearningAllyAudiobooks needs to be open to download a book, you can’t see your download percentage without pushing your download, it plays interface audio cues such as clicks and bells as AUDIO FILES, interrupting other system audio such as music, downloads randomly freeze… I could go on. Please, burn LearningAllyAudiobooks in a fire, hire an actual competent software engineer and designer, and build a real app.

Gains one star back for the actual service part–Huge selection of books and good-enough reading productions.

Need faster playback rate

I am a long time user of Learning Ally. I go back to the RFB&D days with daisy readers. I used to love using the old app because i could crank up the classic audio rate to a high speed such as 300%, which is very important for getting reading and work done efficiently. As I am dyslexic, I can’t sit down and read a book at 600+ wpm, but I prefer to listen at such high speeds. Now I feel very limited as it sounds like the top speed is only around 200%, or 2x. I can’t get my work done like I used to and it is very frustrating. Honestly I don’t really care how LearningAllyAudiobooks functions or looks as long as I can listen at very high speeds. I hope you can fix this. I’m sure that I am not alone as most other folks with dyslexia who I’ve talked to prefer to listen at high rates as well.

Let's see if I can write this in the 20 seconds before my book pauses.

I've used Learning Ally for a long time, since the old app was still around. I've seen it come a long way since then. But there's a few major things you guys still need to fix. It's hard to read a book when every time your screen locks or you leave LearningAllyAudiobooks the book stops. There's a setting for that now, but when you switch the switch nothing really changes. The table of contents for books is unnavigable by VoiceOver. When you turn your phone, the book sometimes moves to a random place. When you change the font and background colors it doesn't do That's new on the new app. Also, for works of fiction, it would be easier I think to ask your narrators not to do voices. Most of them are very bad at it. For language textbooks, don't let people read it unless they speak the language.

Frustrated! Longtime Learning Ally User

I have used Learning Ally for the last 10 or so years and have been a huge proponent of it with my dyslexia students at school. However, the new learning ally app that was released a few ago, for iPhone, is pathetic. It does not remember your place in the book, which I’ve tried to address with the company, every time the phone screen is locked, there are constant interruptions. I’m not satisfied with the company’s response. Everyone on the phone is nice and respectful but they offer no hope for fixing the issues. This is a problem with the software developers. My recommendation is new developers. Sorry but sincere. I’ve just deleted LearningAllyAudiobooks from my device for the first time in years. Please fix this. It’s sad for me to share these problems with my students, fellow teachers and parents. Many depend on this historic app.

Learning ally doesn’t care if learning issues without documentation

At first I really loved Learning Ally. It was alittle expensive $124 for a year with no monthly options. I signed up as, I have alittle trouble reading. It helped me with my upcoming medical classes and I was so happy to of found it. Until I get an message saying they need to see documentation of my disability . Unfortunately years ago my ex husband beat me and hit my head against the floor a few times. Ever since then it’s alittle hard to read. This abuse happened was I was an adult so I have no proof of my learning disability. I reached out the learning ally, expecting some time of care over my situation and NOTHING! Just said they will refund me my money. I have 3more medical classes and this will be hard for me. Thank you Learning Ally for deciding who needs help and who doesn’t. Learning should be for everyone, thank you for stifling mine.

I can’t work it!

A day ago my class has to read a family member’s choice of a book for a book report. My sister has dyslexia so my mom was getting Reading Ally on her school iPad. My mom couldn’t find the book at the story so I got reading Ally on my iPad (I was on my twin sister’s account.) I picked the Nancy Drew: Secret at the red gate farm book. I added the book to the library and went to read it. But it wasn’t there, so I added it to my library once again. This time I read the headings. It said it was unable to add the book 📖. I tried again and got NOWHERE. My book report is due soon, so thank you for wasting 2 days.

That’s it I’m going to Audible

This really pains me to say as I’ve been using this program since I was in fifth grade. I was hoping that I would get me through college yet when I logged in my entire Library was wiped and I could not re add any of my books. That alongside the constant pausing due to phone rotation when in LearningAllyAudiobooks , as well as The inability to pause went outside of LearningAllyAudiobooks . But the deletion of my entire library and the loss of my progress I’m not only my text books but personal reads like the Fellowship of the Rings and the darhma bums really sealed the deal for my switch.

It’s a pitty but LearningAllyAudiobooks needs to be redone to make UE optimal and not be prone to bugs. Until that happens I’ll be at Audible.

Auto shut-off feature/timer would be a nice addition

I appreciate LearningAllyAudiobooks for my child, allowing her to eye and ear read, but like many have voiced in other reviews, there are some areas where LearningAllyAudiobooks could be improved. There are glitches where it will repeat a word multiple times before moving onto the remaining portion of a sentence. It doesn’t seem to have a bookmark to mark a stopping point (if it does, it doesn’t work accurately).

I would love to see the developers implement a timer or auto-shut off feature so that a child could fall asleep listening to their audio book without having to worry about the book reading into the early morning hours.

Thank you for the wonderful service!

Thank you to everyone that has put together Learning Ally. Never apologize for anything (dyslexia/mass email) to anyone ungrateful for the thoughtful gesture. This is really helping me get through school. I only have 2 problems with it though.

1. Playback stops every 5 pages (about)

2. The readers sometimes pronounce character names differently and it’s distracting. I think if multiple people are going to read they should agree on how to pronounce everything. I’m less than 100 pages into a book I have to read for school and I’m distracted because I’ve had to listen to 4-5 different pronunciations of the same character’s name (this is an essential character too) and sometimes the reader(s) mispronounces other common words.

Please read to fix!

Hi. I am in middle school, and I have signed in and used learning ally on my school-operated laptop, and I got it on my iPad to listen to books at home, but when I signed in with my school account, whenever I try to get books, it always says “server error. Try again, then if continues contact learning ally. Please help. One other thing, my school district wasn’t shown on the school picker. What the heck? I used LearningAllyAudiobooks on my SCHOOL computer, but on my iPad it doesn’t even show my district as a thing. Is all of this because I only have access to iOS 12? Please contact me, I would really like to fix this.

Playback stops over and over

The selection of book and all the features provided are great. However, when I go out of LearningAllyAudiobooks things stop working. Sometimes play back will just stop randomly and if I ever press pause I can’t get the book to play again unless I go into LearningAllyAudiobooks . I am never playing anything else, and I’ve tried everything to closing all my apps to restarting my phone. I am on an iPhone 7 so I don’t know if it’s a problem with my phone or there is something wrong with LearningAllyAudiobooks .

Fade out audio problems

LearningAllyAudiobooks has developed a bug that causes the recording to pause every 20 seconds or so. It happens on multiple titles in my library. Activating the lock screen function on my device does not resolve this neither does setting lock screen to never. This is constant break in the reading does not allow for proper synthesis of the book’s content.

Further issue include: music from iTunes library playing when play is pressed on lock screen to resume playback of audiobook.

It costed money that’s why I don’t like it

The only reason I don’t like LearningAllyAudiobooks is because it cost a bit of money but not much it makes you pay every year otherwise great app it’s very fun if you have children they can listen to fun books without you having to read them my kids especially love it tell us until Harry Potter or something else like thatIt has all the history books on it so if you need a break from reading history for your child LearningAllyAudiobooks has it

Thank you

I would just like to leave some good feed back and some thing I would like on LearningAllyAudiobooks .
First I would like to say that LearningAllyAudiobooks is really helpful and has great features and the volunteers that read the book are great at there reading.
Some things I would like on LearningAllyAudiobooks is more love books for example the book “the selection” you have the main part but the other books that go off with it I would like you to put it on there. And the last book from the series the red queen the name of the book is call “broken throne”. This is my feed back and I give LearningAllyAudiobooks 5/5. Please add the books.

I love this app!!

I love LearningAllyAudiobooks so much my school pays for it. I have dyslexia and without LearningAllyAudiobooks I would have have never been able to learn to read. I thank that you should put more books of the babysitters club because I could only find like two of them. And also can you please please put the new diary of wimpy kid hot mess on here. Another thing that I would say is that sometimes when you login to LearningAllyAudiobooks the Highland part is highlighting something different then what it actually is reading And I wish that if you have to reset your password it would not get rid of your already downloaded books.

Thank you!

Indispensable service for the blind

One of the most helpful nonprofits that has ever helped blind people probably the number one most important one Temporary fix for audio, pausing when screen locks switch autolock to never so screen always stays on turn brightness all the way down if you were reading a Kindle book, you would have the screen on anyway

Thank you learning ally

I truly thank full for having LearningAllyAudiobooks I have read so many book and really got me into reading and listening to books yeah LearningAllyAudiobooks has some bugs but I can sometimes figure a way to fix it and if can’t fix it I just ask learning ally for help and some day I hope to read audiobooks a few times for people on LearningAllyAudiobooks
