Olympic Channel Reviews

Regardless of the TV deals meaning you have to have a subscription to the Olympic Channel (nightmare for cable/cord cutters), it has a fair bit of content. I just wish they had more recordings of recent events like the 2019 curling event or the table tennis test for Tokyo 2020.

I want really badly for OlympicChannel to work fantastically because it’s a great concept but I think it could be set up to be more user-friendly and easier to navigate. OlympicChannel does an extremely poor job at loading the videos/episodes (but online it loads very quickly), and then it glitches (pretty consistently). When I try to exit out of full screen of the video, it shows the bottom half of the page on the top half of my screen, and the other half of my phone screen is black. The ideas are there but the execution isn’t very good. OlympicChannel has some minor glitches and loads very slowly. I’d say focus on the performance issues because I think if the videos load faster and the glitches disappear it would be an incredible alternative to the website, but right now I‘ve decided to use the internet instead of OlympicChannel because it is a lot quicker and easier. :)

I started watching their original show “All Around” on the AppleTV. It features American, Russian and Chinese gymnasts, all speaking in their native language. While I don’t expect that everything should be in English, I do expect that if there’s a closed caption/subtitles option in OlympicChannel , that should actually work. And it did...for about two minutes.

I downloaded the iPhone app to see if it was just a bug with the AppleTV app. Unfortunately, I couldn’t even test that because the iPhone app won’t load the videos. It’ll load the ads just fine (surprise...) but all three episodes just show a spinning loading graphic.

And on top of these bugs, when watching on the AppleTV, the audio would just stop for 10–15 seconds at a time. (Another time subtitles would’ve been helpful...)

UPDATE: Now I’m getting audio but the video is frozen! Great app!🙄

I've been watching for this for sometime now and I have high hopes it will develop more in depth and relevant content. Honestly I was hoping it would be a subscription channel so I could have unlimited access to all the sports I wanted to watch. As is, I'm not impressed; the channel is a series of 5-10 minute clips of mundane montage videos. Very little live coverage and no past event coverage whatsoever. I hope this is due to how new it is and this isn't the final product.

Heaven forbid that you start watching a show, leave, come back, and want to pick up where you left off. There is no way to resume playback after leaving OlympicChannel or returning to OlympicChannel ’s menu. No captions. No fast forward. No rewinding.

Unable to cast live video to Chromecast. The feed plays for about 2 seconds then goes blank. This is the only feature in OlympicChannel I care about so without it OlympicChannel is just taking up space - therefore only one star

I was watching the 2019 Classics and It kept kicking me off and not even letting me sign in on my charter subscription which then I had to watch it on a different app.

Since it won’t let me register it is harder to find the events and sports I actually want to watch.

App keeps crashing. Won’t let you watch the replays of what you want to watch. Always down. No way to contact support.

Audio doesn’t work at all for me on iOS 13. App navigation is slow to respond.

Love OlympicChannel Great for watching gymnastics

Nothing worth watching

First the fact that the IOC brought this about is a dream come true. As Americans we rarely get glimpses into true sports and athletes who donor for love and not the almighty dollar. Anything that that shines a light on these pillars of athleticism has my full support. This needs some work as the load times are incredible. Granted the Olympics just ended tonight and OlympicChannel is probably getting hammered. Hopefully going forward video load times and steaming improve because this truly deserves to be an outstanding app for the athletes and the fans alike.

So I logged in for my tv provider and even created an account for OlympicChannel . I clicked on the tab tv and then on the play button “on now”. Then I was taken to the page where you watch the live event, but nothing was loading. I pressed the play button, but nothing changed. The video stream wouldn’t even load. Can you explain why it isn’t doing what it’s supposed to be? When I looked at the schedule, it said on Thursday there is one Live Now. I clicked on that stream, but was led to the page previously stated. I really want to watch the Olympics on my phone. Can you guys just fix OlympicChannel or at least explain why I’m not able to watch the live eventv

Finally, it looks as if the IOC may have a glimmer of how to do an app/content. Looking froward as they tweak and improve this platform. Has the potential to be outstanding.
