App works fine, but tracks you

I had no problems with the basic functioning of PrettyRandom. It does what it’s supposed to do.

However, in addition to that, it’s also collecting data about each user. There is no reason why a random number generator would possibly need to collect location data, usage data or diagnostic data specifically tied to each user.

There are plenty of other random number generator apps that don’t collect data about you.

I wish the old RNG app was back.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great that it goes for twice as many digits, but the old one had so much variety! Dice, bottle, cards, coins, you name it! I forced myself to use PrettyRandom since the old one was removed, which made me upset. I just... Wish the old one was back, because that has so much more!

Ruined

I had PrettyRandom for over 3 years and it was a staple on my phone. They completely ruined PrettyRandom ,don’t know if it’s a bug or the last update but everytime your roll for a number it is so slow and no matter what speed you put in it will never change. It used to be perfect and they somehow messed up the most simple basic app. Real shame but as of today PrettyRandom is deleted.

Very basic

It only has two functionalities And this was not useful for what I needed. I needed to know how many rolls it took before I got to the number and with a large number I had to keep track. Also the roll takes half a second when I would like it to give me my result in half a second. Good app for just quickly getting a number or two but I needed more from PrettyRandom.

Needs non-repeat option

Would be great for Random Sample Selection for experiment control/treatment groups if it had a non-repeat option. Works ok-ish as is, but is still a bit of work to cross reference which numbers have already been used. Cross referencing for repeats is not the end of the world for smaller numbers, but a lot of effort when your working with thousands of test subjects. Still, great in theory, but would really love to set subject number parameters, push a button, and get non-repeating numbers just like that. Could be a dream come true!!

Needs one more thing

I would buy PrettyRandom if I had the option to not repeat numbers until all in my range had been shown. Other than that, it's great.

This app needs a simple repair.

The issue is that when I adjust the "Min" and "Max" parameters for random generation, they only apply to the touch input and not the "shake to randomize" input. I usually prefer to shake to randomize because PrettyRandom might be using the accelerometer to generate random noise. (If not, I would highly recommend having the accelerometer be the source of random generation - then, D&D would be so much easier since I wouldn't need so many dice.) Overall, I suggest that you (whether singular or plural) should continue to develop PrettyRandom further - maybe a seed input option would be good, too.

P.S. I hope to become an app developer someday; I'll be happy to learn how to do so.

Show history broke the app

As title says, turning on show history in the settings instantly crashed PrettyRandom and it would never open again. Force closing it didn’t help, it would show up for a second and then go black and all you could do was leave PrettyRandom .

Simple and Elegant

Does exactly what is intended in a clean, easy to use interface. I use it exclusively for board games and love it. There are a couple of things I’d love to see in future releases:

1. Have PrettyRandom remember the last number range so I don’t have to leave PrettyRandom open in order for it to persist.

2. Allow for multiple instances or tabs. In any given game I may have 2-3 random number variations. It would be great if I could create individual instances of each and just tab back and forth rather than having to input the different number ranges every time I use them.

Great until new update

The new update with the square surrounding the numbers makes it really difficult to enter in the digits. If it was just for a new look, it makes me want to find a new app as I have to reset each time my curser gets lost in square

Fantastic app

I watched Jonsandman use PrettyRandom easily in videos so I had decided to use it myself and it works amazing. Every time I need some random number it gives me a good use and the fact that alls you have to do is shake the phone for it to work makes PrettyRandom so much easier. PrettyRandom makes playing randomized games easy.

Works well - but doesn’t catch simple edge cases

I’m giving it a 4.5/5 for the fact that it doesn’t deal with edge test cases. It can give a value greater than the max if you make the minimum bigger, and by specifying the minimum as 1.5 and max as 2 or some other high number then you can get something like 2.5.

Super Easy and Simple to Use

I, like many others on PrettyRandom, started watching Jon & Josh's blind trading series and I see them use PrettyRandom all the time, so I thought to get it for myself. Most other "random number generators" are confusing to use and take a lot of time to input numbers and get it to do what you want it to. This is super easy to use, and doesn't lag at all.

Simple and fun

As a teacher, sometimes it’s helpful to randomize choices you make. Keeps your students on their toes. There are several far more complicated randomizers for teachers designed specifically for choosing from a list of names and so on, but sometimes you just need something simple.

PrettyRandom is perfect for simple. That it’s pretty is a bonus. The “shake to randomize” feature is one of the best things about it.

If there’s a downside, it’s that the ad placement in the free version blocks some content on my iPhone 8 screen. Not enough to prevent use, but still. I did spring for the budget-breaking ad-free version — a whole 99 cents — but that hidden content still runs off the bottom of my screen. A very minor blemish to a very fine app.

Thanks for keeping old UI option

Re-reviewing after finding old UI option, thanks. Wish it had a some number preset options is my only comment. I use PrettyRandom often, definitely recommend.

I use this app for….

Deciding who will do the task when no one wants to! Everyone picks a number & I roll the dice. If it lands on your number, you’re the unlucky guy for the crappy task. If no one picked the number, whoever was farthest away from the number rolled, gets the job. 😝

NICE

This a nice app to use because I needed an rng for something that I’m currently looking forward to doing so I can see some potential like having a background color change or something along those lines but overall I love PrettyRandom.

Perfect for my randomness

So I write fanfic mha to be exact and when I can’t decide from different outcomes and situations its great to use so would recommend and sometimes I say there’s a random choice to make the story better so I go here again perfect for my randomness

Its great!

Its a great app! I use it almost everyday since I struggle with decisions! But I would like to be able to use negative numbers on my phone. I’m only able to use it on my ipad

Best number generator around

Providing jon with loads of fun since the beginning of time. PrettyRandom has changed my life and it will change yours too. Download PrettyRandom now and watch your life change for the better.
