Disappointed

I was excited about this game. I was going to use it during my down time However, expectations often leave one disappointed. I downloaded the game; purchased a home; began remodeling it; I then left the game, came back, and everything I had done on the game was completely gone. I then wanted to start again... I found one of the homes that were available to “buy” and it wouldn’t allow me to purchase. It would show me details of the house, and allow me to explore the floor plan, as well as look at the problem areas. It wouldn’t allow me to “buy” the home. I was pressing the “buy” button, and nothing would happen. I would enjoy this game bc of my line of work as a designer. There were other issues I had when I was able to interact. They seem trivial now. As most games want you to spend your own money to finish tasks faster and to move along in the game in lieu of waiting. The graphics are great and the options of finishes are fantastic. I debated whether or not to write a review, but hopefully if I’m not the only one having this issue, it can be resolved.

*Edited* I couldn’t find the house that I had previously bought and started to flip; however, I deleted the game, and downloaded it again. It works perfectly! Thanks again!
I also have given it a 5 star-rating. Great job!

Please fix it!

Hi! Thanks so much but can you please please take care of the problem where every three minutes you get kicked out of HouseFlip ! I also think you should have more options of furniture and be able to take out walls. It is a really really great game! Also could we see the people who buy the house looking around and have kind of like a open house added to it? I think that would be kind of cool. I also think you should be able to add paintings to the walls and decide where you want the couches and lighting to be. And can we also see the workers working? That would be very very cool. I also think that you should be able to decide how your house is designed and where to put the walls. I also think you should be able to customize the bedroom so that you can make them for kids or adults and put stuffed animals on the floor and things like that. I also think it would be very very cool if you could go upstairs and downstairs and maybe put in some stairs and maybe also be able to put down carpeting. And also when you design in the house I think it would be very cool if we were able to see other houses around it and maybe put up signs around it for us for an open house in and be able to tell the virtual people all about the house and stuff. Please fix HouseFlip because I love this game and I don’t want to have to stop playing it because it keeps kicking me out or because there isn’t enough things to put in the house.

Fun, Too slow-paced to hold attention for long

I’m on my 5th or 6th house and constantly find myself going back and forth between other games I play because the in-app time it takes to stage or renovate each task is time-consuming with no option to multi-task. I also play games like Hay Day, Ramsey Dash, Sim City, etc. and all of these have various tasks or places you can go within HouseFlip so when you get to a stopping point/standstill in one area, you can bounce to another to remain within HouseFlip allowing for more gameplay. I would play this game more if I didn’t feel the need to constantly pop out to play another game while I wait 4 minutes for something to update. Suggestion is not to limit the the amount of tasks you can do based on contractors. It’s way too much to buy the 3rd contractor. In Hay Day, you can produce hundreds of crops and goods at the same time. Some take seconds, some take days but at least you have the option to continue to produce and grow your farm without being tightly restricted. I prefer games that don’t restrict you to buying lives, hearts, etc. to continue gameplay. I am more loyal to games which allow you to play at your own pace. With some improvements to the structure of the game and heart and grease amounts versus costs to buy with real money and the price of contractors, etc., I’d play this WAY more often. Needs some rebalancing in this area.

Updates have spoiled the game.

I used to enjoy playing this game. But it seems every update brings new annoyances to it. The decor has, in MANY cases gotten ugly! It used to be kinda fun to try to make a pretty house. And it could be done. Not anymore. The flooring updates in this latest version are SO ugly and completely unrealistic. And don’t get me started on the marble for countertops and floors! In fact, the only countertops I’ve seen that actually look better would be level 3 granite. After I reached Dublin I took a break from the game. I got tired of voting on other players designs. It seemed very few players tried to make their houses look nice. Ugly is not fun. I opened the game the other day to see what was new and saw they finally added fireplaces, but also three new cities! With that many new cities it’s surprising they would make so many changes to their decor. Maybe the surge in expansion is to blame for such lousy changes. My houses that I’d left completed but unsold were disgusting to look at since the “upgrade” made the design elements I’d chosen incompatible. I’m in the process of selling off all my houses with the idea I will most likely delete the game when this Profit Ladder is over. It just isn’t fun anymore.
Also—the new mini-games are not fun either. The animations, as with all other animations in this game are WAY too slow. I’ve given the game two stars instead of one, because after playing it for two years or more, it’s a little hard to delete it.

Could be better

I really love the show so when I saw the game I was super excited to download it . I’ve been playing for the past week and I feel like it’s a game I will continue to play . Although there are a few things that could be improved . Such as earning more elbow grease and hearts . It takes way too much elbow grease and too little contractors . It also takes way too long for the some of the projects to get done so I have to use my hearts but then I run out and the only way to get more is by purchasing (which is understandable, you have to make money) but it is pretty expensive or by completing tasks (which I can’t finish) . There are also not very many tasks and it takes a while to complete the ones they already give you so I’m left with nothing to spend or no hearts to complete projects . Another thing would be the reoccurring elbow grease . I think it would be better if it reoccurred ever hour or so and it give you more . Instead of it reoccurring every few seconds and only giving you a little . I personally don’t want to sit there all day collecting elbow grease . It would also be nice to add extra games or tasks to earn more . The graphics are great but could be a bit more realistic when it comes to going into the homes and decorating. I really love the game and hope it continues . I personally would spend money on the game but it is expensive

Please read if your considering getting the game

I love this game so much! I like the job of interior design so I feel as if it’s helping me a lot. I’ve tried many other of these games and they have not worked as well as this one. All they did was had the house prepared perfectly renovated. I found that very annoying because I couldn’t design it on my own. This game is not at all like those ones. It’s has where you get offers on the house and you can accept it or reject it. You can also boost up levels so fast if you put your heart and mind into your designs. Also before I got the game I read a couple reviews and I found them interesting. After I got the game and played it all the time, I found those reviews absolutely not true. There was one saying the offers were bad. Some saying the game was bad. But if they got the other games I tried they would pick this one as the best. I just think they should have played it more and longer before writing a review that’s not true. Anyways, I loved this game! But I think to make this game even better if you could add one special thing. At least add a place to get free hearts if you watch like a video or play a game like the elbow grease. Anyways, thank you so much for this game and if you improve it! I love it!

Amazing just needs to improve

This is an amazing game!! In my Personal opinion I think it is so fun! It is always opened and loads fast and it’s so fun! The reason why I got this game is to build the house and I inspected it to be not as fun as it is! I could play it all the time! That is how fun it is but... It needs 2 improvements. In my opinion I think it needs to be a little bit more fast while building the house because when I am building once I had to wait an hour for the floors to change and I kinda thought that was ridiculous! It is still a amazing game though! The 2nd improvement it needs is so in my opinion I think that it glitches so much and takes me off the game and then I need to go back on and sometimes if there is something loading like For an example if I can get my paint in 3 minutes sometimes it moves to like 20 so it is kinda annoying but overall it is definitely amazingly fun and good! To be honest it is one of my favorite games and my sister even likes it too! Whoever made this game is Awesome! Tony and Mia, Thank you for guiding me through this game because I would probably have no idea what to do if you guys, Tony and Mia did not guide me! I love you guys as game makers whoever made it! Xoxoxoxo!♥️❤️😍👍🏻😘💕

A few things

I mean this politely, what’s the object of this game exactly? Where is the fun part, rather? I thought it was a game where earning profit and becoming a house flipping tycoon was an option, but I’ve reached a point in the game where I don’t have enough money to afford the houses on the level I’ve reached? Which isn’t the main issue I guess, it’s more so how this was created to even happen? I don’t understand the options of buying more expensive house fixtures if it doesn’t give me a better chance at offers closer to my selling price. There’s no option on whether to spend money on small things like a fruit or laundry basket, and buyers lowball you as if your listed price was merely decorative. At some point you fall into this tunnel where there’s not much clarity or direction on how to win, winning is actually an inferred concept like the light at the end, and you’re not actually feeling like you got much of a hold on things when you look up and see you’ve reached a new level but can’t indulge because the prior level forced you into a hole of unnecessarily staging a house and practically giving it away. If this was intended to be a game where players are supposed to simply enjoy the feel of everything, the graphics for the houses and furniture could enhance that. Visually, currently, it’s hard to appreciate the rehab theme due to the graphics. Where is the fun part of a game, if the images don’t at least capture you?

Could be so much better

I love Chip and Jo, and have even driven 5 hours from my house to go to Waco. With that being said, this game is nothing like I expected. It’s the same paint colors, the same staging options, the same thing over and over again. And the suggestions don’t help, at all. I’ve watched every single video and none of it seems to matter. The colors don’t have to match, the materials don’t even matter. Even in medium income neighborhoods, if I use medium income materials, I barely make a profit. I’ve never made 20k in profit and I’m in the 4th city. No one ever gets up to my asking price even when I use cheap materials. And one of the videos said the more needs you meet, the more the buyer offers. That’s completely not true. All of the offers are totally random. The ONE time someone offered me above asking price, which I have no clue why they did because it was a basic remodel like I do on every house, they only met one requirement! So none of the tips seems to matter, nothing you do in this game matters at all. Even the tip saying hotter weather gets you better offers is a lie, it just decreases the wait time. I don’t understand the point of this game, it has literally no goal whatsoever. Sure, you unlock more cities. But even there, you don’t get your asking prices and you only make a slightly greater profit. I’m so disappointed with this game and have too many complaints and suggestions to go into one review.

Wow. Really.

Okay so I got this game kind of aiming for one of those games like dinner dash or one of those “my story” games. A fun game you can play on end and grow and grow. Usually those games I can only go sooo far because you have to pay in diamonds or jewels or some type of upgraded cash. In this game it’s “hearts.” Usually I stop playing either because I don’t want to spend money out of my pocket for it, or i can’t do anything with what I have and it’s no longer fair nor fun.

This is game is SO not like that. I’ve been playing for WEEKS now. Still not dissatisfied. They make it easy for you to get hearts and cash and upgrades. For you to grow. If you’re sitting waiting to finish the whole game in ten minutes you’ll be disappointed. But that’s what makes it so fun you have a to wait a few minutes or an hour to get what you need. So i go go work or School and im like “okay i have to get this or can’t wait to check in on it.” I know it sounds lame but it’s legit true. I actually sit in my car and think this lol.

This is a good game and fun ESPECIALLY if you like to decorate stuff. Idk about the old comments or whats been up to date but as of right now this game literally has no faults.

I’m a bit disappointed 😔

So yes I ABSOLUTELY LOVE CHIP AND JO...BUT...their App is a bit of a bummer...I love the way that you can be creative and create your own property but a little disappointed with the fact that you’re only able to gain more 💗 or 💧 if you purchase them. I’ve played a few designer games and have had the option to gain more points by watching a 30 second video to achieve that. But with HouseFlip you’re only able to gain more 💧 is to use your 💗 to purchase them.. or go to the Magnolia market or see the new homes and hit the magnolia tree for sale OR to purchase them with your own money 💵..so yes you’re able to design a new home but only if you have enough 💧 to proceed and if you don’t have enough 💗 to increase the amount of 💧 to pay your contractors, than you’re basically going to wait FOREVER to move forward..OR pay your way through then next levels..AGAIN..I love the Gains but they claim that their “Magnolia” empire is unknown to their children but they’re taking advantage of their fans. If they didn’t want to be sell outs and take advantage of their followers, they wouldn’t have an in App purchase game. Sorry..BUT YES VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THEIR APP AND MAY NOT WATCH THEIR SHOW ANYMORE..you shouldn’t take advantage of your fans..you should get some in app advertisements to keep your App going, not make your fans addicted to your App and expect them to pay to play your App. 😔😔😔😔

Extremely Angry

The game says the more you fit the buyers’ preferences, the higher their biddings will be. Well that is absolutely not the case at all!! I invest so much time and thoughts into every single renovation for my second house to match the neighborhood style and buyers taste. And when I put my pretty house on the market I was so happy and felt accomplished. The first offer has one preference match and gave me about 1k profit, I rejected it. The second offer gave me more than 10k profit, but only ONE preference matches with my house. So I thought maybe I’ll wait for other offers that matches 2 or even 3 preferences then I’ll get a even higher profit! so I passed the 10k. And guess what, my 3rd offer has two preferences match and gave me -2k (negative 2k!) profit! I rejected and waited. An hour passed by and I checked every single offer, I even used hearts to speed up a few because it’s so absurd that the offers seemed completely random! I passed more than 20 offers so far, the two best offers I received are from buyers that only matched one preferences, while those who matched all three only gave me a maximum of 4-5k profit (comparing to 10k+ from buyers who only matched one). So nothing I did actually mattered?? What on earth is the point of this game?? Why are the tutorials telling players tips/instructions that are in fact lies? I am so frustrated that this game could be so great but it almost “decided” not to be. I wanted to love this game so badly. Such a shame.

Not Great

I really wanted to like this game, (since I love the t.v.) show, but I do not. Graphically the game looks great, and is very polished, but the gameplay is sooo boring! I have played enough of these type of games that require you to spend gems, hearts, diamonds, etc., to know not to use them all up right away. If you do, you will pretty much be done with the demo game, unless you make an ingame purchase. I understand that the whole object of creating these apps is to create revenue for the developers, it is expensive to create these, and it’s fair to drive people into purchases at some point. However..... just to start this game, it took me almost two hours of play time, just to buy, reno, and sell my first house, for a profit of 5,000 (and I followed all of the advice). On my very first house, the completion timers were insane for first level play. Thanks Hung for always having someone respond to feedback under your account! That alone makes me want to check out your other apps. This game however, I will not come back to later, to see if there are improvements, since I already wasted to much time on it, when there has been plenty of feedback saying the same thing about the timers. If you really wanted to fix those, you would have already done so in a small update, that included no other changes.

I really love it, for the most part.

In general, I like the pace of the game. It doesn’t bother me how long jobs take because I play the game in 5 minutes bursts throughout the day since I work a lot in real life.
I love the new update—more color options and the pendant lights option in the kitchen are really nice. 👌🏻
My only real complaint is how hard it is to progress through San Diego. I’m earning 7,000 Elbow Grease/hour (3 contractors), but a lot of the jobs cost 120,000 each to perform. Sometimes, I go back to Waco or Kansas City to flip houses just to build up stock in Elbow Grease for a little while. Maybe, this is intentional by the game developers. Maybe, they wanted to slow down how fast some of us were progressing through the cities, but it makes me not want to flip any houses in San Diego at all.
I also wish maybe there were more Chip & Jo videos later on in the game, or at the very least, have the option to go back and rewatch the videos we’ve unlocked.
Apart from that, I really like this game. It’s one of only two games that I keep on my phone. For a free game, it’s honestly really great, and any Fixer Upper/Magnolia fan would definitely appreciate it.

Ho Hum.

At first I was pretty excited about this game! Waco is a lot of fun and the pace is really fair. I had the ability to watch videos to bypass the time, used some hearts and made my way through the town fairly quick. I was offput by some app crashes, it crashed about 6-7 times through game play or would glitch out so you couldn’t play the mini game or watch a video at all unless you closed out and opened back up. Minor inconveniences but not deal breakers. Well, once I got to Kansas City the game took on a whole different vibe. Times tripled, grease cost doubled and the videos are ultra limited. Not sure if the videos not working is a glitch or they are trying to limit the amount of time you can shave off but I’ve only been able to watch maybe two videos throughout the whole upgrade of a house. I don’t really mind the wait but it feels impossibly long, especially while selling your house and you keep getting hit with way low ball offers (even if I use hearts to speed it up). I feel like Waco Catfished me. Like I see a really good looking game with strong qualities and a funny personality and then I go to meet them after investing my time and feelings and Kansas City Shows up in their 400 lb glory looking nothing like their picture and I’m horribly disappointed and can’t leave fast enough.

Final updated review

Final updated-
It now takes around 5 days to complete a house, because of the elbow grease amounts required vs amounts generated. (Example) in 8-9 hours I get about 300K elbow grease, kitchen counters are 386K elbow grease. My Max capacity for elbow grease at my stage of the game is 1Mil (or very close to it), yet my silos CAP my elbow grease at 441K, making it impossible to allow your elbow grease to fully regenerate while you’re asleep or away from your game for 8-10hours. I say this is my final review because I’m going to delete the game, it’s becoming pay to play, all the houses are the same, just getting more expensive for nothing. This game turned out to be a real disappointment. Lesson learned

-Original Review
So, like any update there are some good, and bad. I’m finding more bad than good unfortunately. The mini game has changed in a way to be less effective, since it no longer speeds up any construction/staging. You can only speed up watching ads, and those won’t work half the time, so you have to wait 9hrs for some countertops and it takes 3 days to flip a high end house. At that point it’s not exactly attention grabbing. The amount of elbow grease required for things is a bit much, especially with the regeneration rate being so slow. Again, adds in to the wait. Flipping multiple houses is a nice feature, and the new interface is nice. But the overall functionality of the game has decreased in my opinion.

Update is glitchy and I can’t play anymore but plenty of issues before that

I was playing it and did the new update and it was working fine for a day then it started glitching where I would finish renos and start new ones and HouseFlip would close and the elbow grease and money from the new Reno would be taken out but the new one won’t have started yet. Then today I tried to open it and it won’t open and it prompts me to update to the latest app and when I try it says I already have the update. So who knows.

The game was already getting frustrating by the excessive wait times 9 hours for an appliance or cabinet/counter Reno. Like I could go out and redo my real life home in that time. It’s a game not a real life simulation. Then the times are inconsistent. Small bathroom takes 40 minutes to paint and a large one takes 23 and a door takes an hour. 35 minutes for a bowl of fruit to be set on the counter. The house trees used to give elbow grease and sometimes hearts but now they just give money. Elbow grease takes forever to load. The amount of hearts some things take is obnoxious (100 hearts to put a bowl of fruit on a counter quicker). Like the more you play it’s clearly just a money grab to get us to buy hearts. Then if you want to go the ad way instead of the pay way you “run out of ads” after just a few times each day. Either way they make money so that makes no sense to limit out ads.

Needs some flipping of itself

Cute game and concept. I did enjoy it for about two days... However I have grown bored of it, for it takes forever almost an entire day to get enough elbow grease to do one project once you level up a few levels. You hardly earn hearts or elbow grease unless you spend real money. And after leveling up it takes hours for projects to get done. No joke it takes an hour to place a fruit bowl and it take one contractor to do so?! So it isn’t a game you can just play and enjoy. It’s a game you can check on a few times a day and that’s it. It has become mundane and no longer enjoyable. It doesn’t hold your interest with how slow it gets! Also it’s insane how much you have to spend to stage the house for listing. It isn’t a choice either. And you don’t get to reuse any of the items. So you keep dishing out a few hundred here for a fruit basket and a few hundred here for a laundry basket that you don’t get to reuse. You also can’t buy and buy more than one house at a time which is seriously lame. You also don’t get notifications when projects finish. You only get one offer on your house at a time and you cannot counteroffer. You do not get daily rewards like most well made games. You don’t get bonus rewards for playing consecutive days. It’s all beyond annoying. It’s obvious this game is for the developers and the gains to make money. Don’t be fooled by the free download.

My heart says 5 stars!

I absolutely adore this game! The gameplay and graphics are incredibly thought out down to the details, you can tell a lot of genius, diligence, and care went into this game. The homebuyers and their bios are adorable! I've tried several apps with a similar premise and thus far, this is the only one that gets it right and is fun to get lost in.

Previous reviews have complained about wait times for progression, but it's important to note that this game is free (In-app purchases apply, but not spending money doesn't seem to hinder enjoyable gameplay.); however, it is definitely on the level of games that cost money to download. Speeding everything up, to me, would take out a lot of the excitement to the game.

That being said, there are quite a few glitches that need to be worked out. Currently, the game will frequently freeze or the tapping of an option will simply not work. A quick restart will generally solve those problems, but it can seem tedious when gameplay advances. I currently cannot even scroll the rewards panel to collect them and I need them to buy more cute decor for my homes! I look forward to continuing to progress through this and coming back to give it the rating it deserves once the issues are worked out.

Fun but eventually too expensive to play.

I noticed that the age limit on this game was 4 years old and up, really? I mean this game will only frustrate a 4 year old when they have 5 workers and can’t afford the elbow grease to do anything. I am a grown adult and have been playing this game for awhile and my impression of it was great at first, then I realized the real purpose of it, not for us to have fun, but for the creators to make lots of money. At first all of the decorating and renovating is really fun, moving up in decor and cities, but with each advancement, came a huge cost. I have five workers in three different towns and I can’t keep up with the elbow grease costs, for instance, in Waco it cost maybe a few hundred to paint a door, in Chicago it costs 65 thousand to paint a door. Appliances and other items cost nearly a million in elbow grease. I have tried to continue enjoying the game but I think its wasting my free time as waiting 2 and a half days for one task to finish while 3 workers can’t be used due to cost, yes, it’s actually wrong to make stuff cost that much. I bought hearts once or twice just to continue playing, a 4 year old can’t or won’t be allowed to do that. It’s a fun relaxing game, too bad it becomes too costly to play. Take the review as you will, just being honest.
