I tried applying to teach here to fill up my free time, which I am not teaching at, because it isn’t overcrowded with teachers like Palfish but the whole thing was a joke. Firstly, your profile automatically gets set as a “student” so as soon as you register, teachers start attacking you with messages for you to learn English with them. Secondly, they use different rates and pay non-natives ridiculously lower. Thirdly, it takes them forever to get back to you to apply. I was bounced to somewhere in S. Africa to a lady who had an ‘audio’ interview with me. She kept going on about how they don’t have a racist hiring system and that she is black, blah blah, then she comes up with the results for me saying there is a “slight accent issue” with my application and that they can’t sell me as a British teacher because they charge more for those! I have over 14 years of experience, a Master’s degree in Education, a Cambridge CELTA but speak with a neutral accent as I am bi-racial. I had to tell them my whole life story from A to Z but apparently that wasn’t enough! On the other hand, if you don’t know anything about teaching and want to make some extra money on the side (getting paid peanuts) and practise your teaching, it could be a good start as there are even kids teaching there with no experience whatsoever. Anyways good luck to them and the students. 😂

I agree with the other prospective teachers who wrote negative reviews on this company. I worked as a manager for them for several months and can say Lucy (the S. African interviewing teachers, who is referenced as “black” in other reviews) is delaying or blocking your success, as she views qualified teachers as competition (teachers are competing for students on the app). She even delayed verifying my master’s degree for months—with continued excuses—and I was on the management team! Worse, I caught her throttling other teachers’ acceptance—even though they were more qualified to teach than she is (she has a thick, non-native accent). When I continually tried to being up the fact there were non-native speakers in my department pretending to be native, no action was ever taken. The owner needs to wake up and realize she is ruining his reputation and business, as he is blindly allowing her to make company decisions based on her self-interests (she once emotionally argued with me that non-native speakers could teach pronunciation better than native speakers—then proceeded to send me an anonymous, but profane message). There are more issues, but time does not allow me to elaborate. This app is a hard pass.

I’ve been trying to use this app as a teacher , first of all it was super hard to get my profile approved ( the app assistant just constantly rejected my profile without giving any reason ((((((( then I’ve finally after long time got my profile approved . So I’ve found out that the payment is lower than it was promised . The app developers deduct a big amount of money from teachers. Secondly there are few students who will real make calls. Thirdly there is no support from developers they just ignore any msg and requests from teachers so if u got any issue u will have to deal with it by ur own self (((( I’m very disappointed about this app and would recommend it to others
