I tested many Whisper apps. This one feels very flimsy:
I’ve had it happen that I dictate some long note, it tries to transcribe, fails - and then my note is gone.
This should never happen. Even if there is an issue with the transcription, I would at least expect the app to keep a backup of my audio so I can try again, or export.
The way it is, I will never trust the app, because it feels like a gamble. I may get a transcript. But I may also just lose everything I just dictated and have to start again.
The app displays an animated waveform that I find highly distracting. I feel like I can’t look at my phone while dictating because of it. It also serves no purpose, which makes me think the developer didn’t really think this through.
That the app asks me to upgrade at a $299 (sic!) price point is the last straw. Infuriated me enough to take the time to write a review before deleting this app.
