Like consumer reports and reddit had a baby

Ok, first off, I don’t do a lot of reviews unless something catches my attention that is of exceptional value. Product hunt is that app. It keeps me on top of the tech scene by letting me know what is the hottest things (or about to become) in tech, books, software and more. It has a voluntary community that curates things that get voted up or down, so there is a democratic process administered by the internet, it’s like consumer reports and reddit had a baby.
If you love tech and want to know what the next big thing is, you will find it here first, before any other news source. Indispensable for founders and investors in tech.

The most productive infinite scroll out there

I’m a product designer and thusly just love Product Hunt in general. I’m glad that they introduced a solid mobile experience so I can stay connected and inspired even when I’m indisposed. 😜

I also tend to try to use my phone for tasks and activities I deem as useful or productive. Most feeds of social content accessed on mobile tend to be addictive and filed in the ‘unproductive’ category (to put it politely) in my book. This is addictive, but truly useful and inspirational for makers, designers, and the like.

Thanks for pulling such a rad community together and continuing to build and support cool products. 😻

Missing potential

I like product hunt and what it does for browsing cool products. However, ProductHunt is actually really bad. It’s super unresponsive, tons of bugs which cause crashing, sluggish and constantly reads my touches/swipes incorrectly.

The developers need to do serious work on ProductHunt to allow users to browse more smoothly. Navigation swiping like is built into iOS is completely broken, swiping through images of a product will sometimes cause you to swipe to a new product, etc. Fixing these big problems will make ProductHunt a lot less frustrating to use

Horrible update

I am a very long product hunt user, which makes writing this review that much harder. Huge fan of PH and the community and platform they have built. Their last app was not amazing, but it was pretty good and got the job done. ProductHunt is absolutely useless. Not sure if the problems are only on iPhone X or all devices, but it’s literally unusable. I open ProductHunt and click on a product and nothing happens for a few seconds. Then the page opens, ProductHunt bugs out, and everything I try to click is unresponsive. This update is so bad that I have found myself using PH on my mobile browser or just not checking it at all.

I’m sure PH has a good dev crew or even connections to good iOS developers. Please make a change!

Love the concept

ProductHunt is great in theory, unfortunately it doesn’t persist your location in the scroll view so when you hit a product and then go back to it you have to scroll back down to where you were previously. Would love to not have to do that. Also, a fair amount of network errors pop up - on wifi and LTE. Other than that it does what it’s supposed to do.

Best place to find new products and trends

I often find myself searching this app first when looking for products to use, or I research.

Yesterday it paid off, I won a $20 bet that I couldn’t find a product that performed a specific task... using product hunt I found two, installed them both, tested them (both worked fine) and was done in less than 5-min .... just waiting for Ryan to ask for 50% revenue share on new bets won

😂👍

Love the website. Mobile app is horrible.

For a website that is about sharing new products and tech, a lot of it related to programming, it’s still unbelievable to me that the mobile app is still (after many years) a hot mess. Constant crashes. Not being able to view my profile or perform much of the basic functionality that the website offers. What is the point of ProductHunt ? They might as well just discontinue it. Save yourself the headache and visit the PH website on the browser of your choice instead.

Good content, but terrible iOS app

The developers must have thought it a good idea to implement their own scroll view.. then failed miserably at it.

This product scroll view is basically the core feature of ProductHunt . Yet it has every bug imaginable. It loses your spot about 50% of the time you visit a product. It somehow manages to make the butter smooth scrolling on iphone into a choppy mess. It drains battery at an impressive rate, and manages to get into states where if you attempt to scroll at the wrong time, a single result will be duplicates infinitely.

Amazing that the devs managed to ship so many bugs in a single component. Perhaps they should product hunt some QA tools.

Can’t login with Google?

I love Product Hunt and have always used the web version, and have just discovered ProductHunt . However, on the web version I’m able to login with my Google account (which is what my entire account relies on); on ProductHunt version, I only see the options to login with Twitter and Facebook which means I can’t access my account.

Does anyone know why this is the case and if Product Hunt is planning to add the ability to login with Google to ProductHunt version? It’s really very strange and inconvenient that the login methods are different between web and app.

Thanks!

Tech Guru of Startups

5min/day to capture a ton info on latest startups, new features and the talk of the town. You’ll find everyone from C level execs and the brightest SWE here talking about what’s good and what not. A quick look at the daily tab gives me a good info on what’s new, what’s trending, and what’s worth buying/paying for. I would highly recommend NOT wasting time on buying expensive tech magazines. PH is the key to your tech house!

Memory issues

The new design looks great but ProductHunt has some sort of memory issues. It runs fine on the first couple launches but then the animations will slow down like crazy. I’ll click on a product and about 30 seconds later, a jittery opening animation will slowly start. Once I force close ProductHunt it works correctly for a little bit. I’ll be glad to send screen recordings if it’ll help investigating the issue. I’m on an iPhone X so I didn’t really expect to see performance issues with a simple app like this. Hope it gets fixed.

The holy grail for makers

The best part about the product hunt app is the fact that it’s well...an app! If you’re on the go and want to keep updated on the latest web apps, App Store apps, devices, platforms etc. Then it’s the best place to stay updated on the best digital and physical tech based products. If you’re a techie, entrepreneur, or just tech fiend then download ProductHunt and join the tight product hunt community.

Amazing! - Just needs a bit more.

I recently downloaded the this app mobile app update a while back, it is amazing! I’m loving the dark mode and just being able to upvote new launches 🛠🚀. But one thing I think it is missing is being able to check your Ship Subscription 🚣‍♀️. I think that being able to manage this and your launches would be awesome! 😀

Love PH. Hate app. Here’s 3 reasons why...

1) for years across multiple devices ProductHunt randomly gives JSON errors pulling the list that requires it to be killed and restarted
2) when you scroll deep in the list it refreshes causing you to have to start back again from the top making it nearly impossible to go back far in time
3) they now have added auto playing videos without adding any way in settings to stop that. I often read the list in places that require quiet and now wind up scrambling to stop the video and/or kill the volume

Disappointed

Long time PH user here, sad to say that I am extremely disappointed in PH mobile. Since they redesigned ProductHunt , it seems like all the functionality went down the drain. There’s barely anything left to do on ProductHunt , as a matter of fact, why do we need ProductHunt anymore? Why can’t I browse categories? Why can’t I view my notifications without it flickering and never showing me the notifications? Why do some products never load even though I’m certain I have a stable connection. So much wasted potential here. Will uninstall until they release a new version.

The app experience

Is a bit laggy and not the same as the website which I use daily. I wish you can filter out all of the apps to just showcase iOS apps on the iPhone this way you don’t have to deal with a bunch of slow loading formats instead it takes you right to ProductHunt Store. Overall I love this company, but ProductHunt needs a little work :)
Time for a T-shirt😋

A place to connect

Product Hunt is not only a place to find new products, but a place to find entrepreneurs to talk with, build with, and share with.

It’s where a startup I worked for got discovered by a company that acquired it. It’s where I’ve left comments and been invited to betas.

I was a beta tester for the new version, I was too for Sip and Ship, and hopefully they’ll improve the design just a little bit.

But overall, it’s provided a platform for products to shine, and even get their own Oscars. It’s pretty sick.

Check it out, and maybe you’ll get inspiration for your own product, tons have.

Overall great package

I’m a huge fan of PH it’s the number one thing I do as soon as I get to my office in the morning, ProductHunt is fast and pretty easy to get used to but there could be some improvements in the navigation system sometimes swipes as misinterpreted :(
But overall it gets the job done 👌🏻

What I needed

I enjoy reading about new products, but don’t always have the time to follow everything. With PH I get to not only read about new products but also interact with others about said products. It makes my life easier and it’ll do the same for you if you’re like me. Great job PH TEAM!
