Great Development App that has many Features

This is a very impressive app, and thanks for the new update, I love the interactive JavaScript console!

The only problem/suggestion I have is when entering commands, etc into the new JavaScript console, and I need to type quotes, the keyboard by default types the rich text “fancy” quotes, not the plain text ones... so I get errors. And actually, now that there is the interactive console, I think it would just be a big improvement to have the extra row of ‘keys, on top of the keyboard, (just like when you’re in regular editing a file mode).

Loving GoCoEdit, thanks again for the update, I will use the js console a lot!

Great mobile editor!

I’ve tried all the free apps and frankly, they’re all rubbish. I couldn’t bring myself to drop a wad of money on an app like coda either. I decided to give Goco a try and it is definitely a great app - a good balance of price and functionality. The only thing really limiting GoCoEdit is the janky “file manager”included with iOS. However, the creator of GoCoEdit has added the ability to specify / bookmark preferred directories which allows you to easily access specific files and folders.

This lemon is definitely worth the squeeze.

Feels like a desktop editor

Really useful to have on the iPad Pro for a lightweight workspace to tweak embedded systems via SSH.

The only major complaint I have is that it seems to insist on Internet access before it will allow a remote connection. I often use an Ethernet dongle to connect with embedded systems on private networks, so if I’m working in an environment where I can’t also connect to the Internet via WiFi, this app becomes useless for no technical reason. Please consider fixing.

Wait to buy!

Love the design of GoCoEdit. However, I find myself always force closing and reopening trying to delete a folder off my ftp. ALSO, you cannot delete a folder that has files. You literally have to delete each file then the folder.

UPDATE: I’ve tried many apps including textastic, buffer editor, ftp pro, etc. After working with GoCoEdit for about two weeks now I’ve learned a few things and I can say I change my review 100%. Although there are still a few issues this is the only app that works great with editing large zip files.

Great for remote editing

Just found GoCoEdit recently and really appreciating its capabilities. It’s great for editing files on a remote server over SFTP without the download/upload workflow used by many other apps.

Syntax highlighting, snippets, custom commands, keyboard shortcuts, and the extended “keybar” are icing on the cake.

I was surprised at how much I use the “trackball” feature. While you can accomplish the same thing with force touch on the keyboard, the trackball feature is so much easier to use and control. It makes editing on the iPhone a breeze.

Great price and features

For the price and feature set, GoCoEdit is worth it.

My only complaint is aesthetic and minor: I find the font used in the majority of the UI (menus, labels, descriptions, etc.) to give off a very “amateur” look and feel. It’s like if were to have the option of writing this review in Comic Sans font. You would probably take me less seriously.

A feature request I have is to add support for importing/ cloning a git repo given the HTTPS url (from GitHub, Gitlabs, etc.)

Excellent App

Great app, just two quick suggestions:
1. Full screen file management page or possibly a full integration with ios/ipadOS native File app.
2. Equal size of tabs (like web browsers) when you have multiple files open. As far as I know, the tab size is proportional to the file name length.

Hits and misses

Fast text editor with syntax highlighting and plenty of themes. But limited fonts and no way to add my own. Really clunky, challenging file manager that looks ported over from a Palm Pilot. Navigation is a total pain. Font sizes are also off, 14 point in GoCoEdit is rather small on my screen where other apps display 14 pt larger on the screen.

It’s a good start, and glad I got it on sale, I hope it gets better, but for now I’ll keep looking for my ideal text editor.

Like it

Let’s me quickly edit files directly on remote drive, manually save them or exit them without saving if I want (other editors that I’ve tried, except GTW also by this dev, aren’t easy to manually save and all seem to auto save on exit with no option to disable). Thanks for fixing the problem with Google Drive.

Great web development tool!

Thanks for a great app!

To my knowledge, this app is the only iOS app that allows you to open, edit and save text files directly to a remote server over SFTP. For NodeJS development this is a must since you cannot run a local Node server on iOS.

I'd like to see enhancements to the Terminal, especially the ability to support Mosh or other improvements to responsiveness (the Terminal can be a bit laggy).

Best Text Editor + SSH shell included

I’m loving the ssh shell with linux. I can install Gimp and Discord from the bathtub. I just leave my iPhone in a plastic baggy and ssh into my computer and start installing.

They also include language support for virtually every single language. Except Basic. Like what the heck! It’d be nice if basic made it on.

Keyboard

Everything is great. But briefly:
1. The keyboard is not under control and it jumps up every moment everywhere.
2. I things the keyboard need cut, copy, paste click, because it’s really hard to using selectors tags.

Thanks for making GoCoEdit I really appreciate it. I suggested it to all of my friends.

Finally!

Finally I found GoCoEdit that gives an easy way to view and edit plaintext files with varying file extensions in Dropbox. The editor itself looks great with the syntax highlighting. It is quite easy to set up and navigate as well.

Well Done

Worth it 100%. I love the fact that I can connect via sftp and edit my files. This is the most useful app on my iPhone. Then on top of that it has a nice theme to it, different colored text for variables, attributes, etc. Very impressed!

good with some limitations

Good dark mode. One of the few apps that work over ssh.

I wish there was a way to hide tab bar and everything above it, like the developer’s other app gtw does. Fonts are good, but options are limited, only fixed width fonts.

Best editor if you like Sublime Text!

I use Sublime Text on my Mac, and this is the best editor I have found to allow me to edit files locally or on the server, with an interface very close to Sublime. Thanks for creating it!

Off to a great start.

So far so good, but it’s no vscode or Atom! Most frustrating is that both an email and post to the support repository went unanswered. Also, what’s up with those tiny updates that bump the version number, but keep listing same exact fixes.?!

Best Editor for IOS!

GoCoEdit is amazing! Very well coded, it’s extensible yet light weight with just the right amount of features! Great UI, and works well with dropbox so I can see, analyze, or edit my projects on the go!

Brilliant...

Best text editor for iPad use. I can finally continue my work on my iPad and I’m ecstatic about that. The developer is awesome as well and will respond to your emails. Keep up the awesome work, Christoph!

Seems nifty so far!

The only real downside that I can say about GoCoEdit so far is the lack of a connection to bitbucket or github. Having a built in git client could be a huge boost that would put GoCoEdit over all others!
