Bring back Discovery Rewards!!!

I appreciated them because they made it to where I didn’t have to waste time watching ads or spend money on game currency and y’all toke them away! I was able to fully unlock a character and currently halfway to unlock another one. It just seemed like a scummy thing to do to f2p players like me. I’ll change my review to 5 stars if or when y’all bring it back. The game dev on discord said that “Well sure, but it seemed like a bit of busywork; so we had to make the collect all button for it, which sort of undercut the idea of it.” Sounds like y’all just wanted an excuse to get rid of it to prompt people into spending money but sure.

Fun until it’s not

This game was a lot of fun when I first started playing but after a while it feels like the developers snatch that out of the game. I literally played 15 ranked matches in a row never being able to level up weapons from level one because the game wouldn’t distribute a wicked stick. (An item you need to progress the fire/frost mage’s first and most powerful weapon) This is a daily battle and it begins to make you feel like you’re being subjected out as you watch all of your opponents able to upgrade. If you like loosing every battle you play due to unfair rolls and the inability to progress, this is the game for you. Also, you can’t be even finish daily missions unless you pay them so I guess there’s that too. Unless you waste runs and forfeit reward chests.

Great concept…poorly executed

The game is a really great concept, but the developers take the fun out of it by making your AI competitors so much more OP than you are. I never been able to unlock the full board yet. I constantly get competitors that have the entire board unlocked, full, and weapons upgraded. I’ve even spent money on this game, thinking maybe if I buy one of the premium characters that it would be easier but it is still the same.

To the developer: please fix this. I’ll spend more money on your game if you do otherwise I’m done playing. Winning zero games in a match is crazy. I win less than 5% of the games I play against AI. There is absolutely no reason that this should be the case.

Fun game, great art, lots of combinations

The gameplay of trying to develop recipes for more powerful weapons, armor, and items is addicting. The variety of heroes adds a nice mix of making combat more to each players liking; even though certain items are must have for any hero.

It’s good to see the developers are always updating and tweaking balance issues. This latest update with Morrow is a bit expensive imo…I’ve been watching a million shilajit and horrid Elon musk investment ads (please remove that ad omg)

Absolutely Recommend

I’ve been playing for a few weeks. I immediately bought the no-ads package which I think is fairly priced and definitely worth it. I love everything about this game, truly! The art is beautiful, the music and sounds are great, including the VO actors. They do a great job of staggering out items so you can learn who uses what and how, but if you buy a hero outright, you get everything all at once, which sounds great! But can be a little overwhelming (still don’t think it’s a negative, just being honest), just have to teach yourself by checking items NBD.
My only complaint, which many others have said, is that the RNG can be down-right cruel at times. The Banish feature is awesome in theory, but the cost skyrockets faster than the item pool can keep up and it’s nearly pointless.
If Banish and ReRoll capped at 3 or 4, or the price didn’t escalate so quickly, the RNG wouldn’t be so torturous.

My suggestion to the DEVS;
Have the gold increase per the times the feature is used instead of every use, for example at cost 1 you get one roll, at cost 2 you get two 2-cost rolls, at cost 3 you get three 3-cost rolls. And so on.
Using that distribution system, and 10 as our example, Banishes, in the current system will cost you 55 gold which is nearly impossible to obtain. My proposed system would only cost 29, which is far more reasonable IMO

Great game; new update changed some things

I’m having a blast playing this game, and have been playing it almost every day since I downloaded it. I noticed a few things since the latest update though. Some of the characters I had purchased with gems are locked again after the update. I’m loving the option to re-roll your opponents and see their stats, as the random match ups were my only major critique prior to this update. All that being said, it feels like the balancing took a hit. The AI has suddenly started to wipe the floor with me, almost instantly, once the half way mark has been hit through a given series of battles. Basic item shop-spawn rate for my favorite character (sage) has seemingly dropped as well, which is a major road block to being able to upgrade my items and win rounds. Otherwise, I’m still enjoying myself.

The game is awesome, but…

I love this kind of game so much! It’s super satisfying when I can figure out new combinations of items to use in my fights. I just don’t like how after only a few weeks of playing it won’t let me in, it keeps freezing on the backpack loading screen and won’t load? If I delete and reinstall it’s a 50/50 of fixing that (thankfully I signed in already or I’d lose my progress). I want to love this game but it’s hard when I can’t even play it, please let me know how to fix this issue?

Quite entertaining but needs more

I have come to really enjoy this game. It reminds me of alchemy games I’ve played in the past. I’ve read a lot of complaints regarding the drop rates of particular items in the shop, which I can totally understand, but I also don’t fret too much because you win some and you lose some…but it doesn’t detract from it being a time waster.

The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is that I wish they implemented a storyline for each hero. Yes, you level up the general game for PvP, but then having individual stories for each character where you level them up independently and develop skills to progress in their own storyline would be very engaging. Just a thought.

Organize or Die!

This is a great “backpack” game. It is very fun and can be intense. I saw people asking for a tutorial but I honestly don’t feel like it needs one. Trial and error works. It’s complex enough to keep you on you toes and easy enough to play a round or two when you have a minute and the run you are working on doesn’t go away when you have to close BackpackBrawlHeroBattles . I’m excited to see what else they bring to the game.

Amazing Game

This game blew me away. My expectations were low for a free-to-play mobile game. But this game exceeded all my expectations. This game is addicting and fun. Every run is different and leveling up heroes to unlock more items feels really good. It is always fun to find new items to use or new ways to use old items. All the heroes feel distinct and have a different play style. With new heroes coming out frequently I keep finding reasons to come back. Amazing game.

Addicted

I play WAY too many games, and for a serious strategy player, this has so many layers. I would even go so far to say that this so well designed, that it is my favorite game of the decade! If you are teaching a class on how to design a game, including balanced monetization between pay and free-to-pay, this is a great model.

If you enjoy in-depth games that make you think instead of twitch, you will be engrossed. I have played around 10 hours a day for a week.

Addicting and fun

This is an absolutely well done game. It was so good I had to delete it because I was spending just way too much free time playing it. The gameplay is both simple understand and complex enough to keep you going as you try to learn what combinations work best. The balance of skill/strategy/luck seems to be well done. With the right skill/strategy you’ll be winning most matches and +rating on most games. Every so often you might get some bad draws. Sometimes you’ll get super lucky. On top of all that, it is very f2p friendly. With a lot of these games you find out very quickly you’ll need to succumb to micro transactions if you want any hope of keeping up. Or at the very least keeping engaged with the gameplay. But that hasn’t been the case and iv been playing obsessively for quite a while. So far Iv managed to level up the two free characters to 10. As well as upgrading plenty of non-legendary items a fair amount of times all without buying currency. Iv gotten to emerald ranking and the final stage before deciding to take a break. So I can’t speak to anything beyond that, but so far you can 100% progress and keep Up without spending on micro transactions. Surprised this game isn’t more popular. 10/10

Many upsides

So first off. I don’t think I’ve seen a forced ad yet so nothing is turning off my music or podcast. Big win there. Yeah you can grind ads for more stuff but no thanks. Second. The game play is easy enough to do with little effort but complex enough to actually win higher stages. The rng seems fair. And what made me write a review is I continued a game with 1 life left and it didn’t hand me the win just to hook me. Great game. I’m pretty early on and I feel like it’s just gonna get more complex.

Amazing with a couple flaws

Could not be happier with my experience with the game overall. There are only two major things that I feel are a big detriment to the game going forward. The biggest one is the unique items. They are incredibly important and yet completely imbalanced with some doing nothing and others carrying games on their own. The biggest issue is that you don’t have access to all of them each run. A re-roll would be great but I feel that most of them should be a lot more build opening than just being individual items. The other thing is how while it is great that each character plays so differently, it feels like each character is hard locked to specific builds without much lateral movement. I think the simplest thing would be to add something like an amulet system somewhere around getting a hero to level ten where you can then get an item to allow you to get other characters that are at level tens items. Could be around legendary rarity so that they are rare. Other than these two critiques the game is great.

New update + suggestion

I love this game! The strategy is solid and there is lots of relatability and room for growth via carefully analyzing the items and heroes stats and abilities.

I think the new update is great and it makes many “junky” items worth getting and merging now!

I have a suggestion, when in a fight and click an item for details can you show if that item is from specific hero (in the corner, like in the upgrade menu) So you can tell if it is worth getting an item instead of thinking you can merge but then can’t get the other heroes item!

All developers should take a lesson from this great game

I love this game. It is ridiculously fun and frighteningly addictive. The information on how to play is sparse but won’t spoil your fun - the mechanics of play are simple. I still don’t know what I’m doing but I get better at it all the time! The only ads I’ve watched are ones I choose to watch for a free life. You can pay for boosts if you want, but you don’t need to. I haven’t yet but I’m going to just to pay the devs for a great game. Kudos to them for creating a unique, silly, fun as heck game and for not being greedy about how they monetize it!

Obsessed

What a great downtime game! Lot of unlockables — all of which are upgradable — decent variation in play styles and lots of room to puzzle out the best min-max builds with what you get. I love the ramp up in power as you succeed in wins by optimizing the right buys at the right time. It’s so good, I decided to purchase the membership and will likely do that for a few months until I run out of content.

Overall, a really solid, thoughtful mobile game. That being said, I’m not a fan of the chest timers and feeling like I’m intentionally having to pump the breaks on my game sessions, but they are what they are. And as crazy as it sounds, I hope they’ll include even more variation and ideas to play with each character, rather than being locked into a “this and/or that” binary play style.

Very creative game!!!

When I downloaded the game, I thought it was only a usual “merge 2 same items to upgrade” game like all other merge games you can find. But soon I realized I was so wrong. It’s a very creative and unique game that you can feel the heart and thoughts that developers have put in it. Something I’m really impressed are:

* Hundreds of items, and it’s much more than “upgrade by putting 2 same items together”. You need both strategy and luck to win.

* Each character are quite unique and requires different strategy. It’s fun to figure out the different build for each character.

* Very reasonable amount of ad. Not like many other free games which basically are more like a ad player than a game, you can enjoy a whole round of game without being interrupted by any ad (a whole round won’t be a short game). Although I do wish there is an option to remove the ad by one-time payment instead of monthly subscription.

Suggestion:
This game do need a better tutorial for new player. The structure / mechanism of the game is actually a bit complicated. New seller may easily lose patience and give up if they don’t know how to play it correctly.

Fun and Engaging

This game offers a lot of utility and rogue like components as you set forth on your battles. I have only thoroughly played one character but the others have systems that work well and the synergy for builds is dynamic. Meaning you have many paths to build strong builds and not pigeon holed into one specific build. Only concern I have is that the top rank for each character is not only extremely high but the punishment needed to get to 5000 victory points is insane. This is considering that you need to get at least 13 trophies to advance it really requires amazing luck. Not at all required for anything other than prestige so no point loss on my end. Loving the new updates, any chance on getting an increased lucky roll that costs more? The idea being that late stage, 10 plus, I find my self rolling just to roll with no real benefit. So if there was an option to target a specific group (food, pet, accessories, etc.) would at least provide a chance at getting late game items.

New favorite game with one annoying feature

I love everything about this game and it is so addicting, I have been playing it for a month straight with only Ronan and got to sapphire level 13 Ronan and now want to try some other characters but I can’t do anything without basic upgrades so I have to tank my rank to level her up. I don’t think the xp speed is slow just I can’t do it in this rank. Maybe make each character have a separate rank. But amazing game, love the consistent updates transparency. Great work
